New Bees 01/01/11 friends - new and old...Come on in...

Here's one you girls can help me with.....

I received a small simple waffle maker for Christmas, an Oster 3883. It is supposed to make nice round Belgium waffles, just like the ones seen in resturants and hotel lobbies. My first attempt I tried Krusteze mix which didn't use any eggs according their instructions on the box. I note that almost every other recipe I seen uses eggs in the mix. The temperature was dialed in at about 3/4 hot, and timing was 4 1/2 - 5 minutes. To make a long story short, my first try resulted in waffles that sort of looked like lumpy soft pancakes, kind of disappointing. I was looking for waffles sort of crispy on the outside and a touch soft on the inside.

Anybody know how to do this right? Maybe I need a different mix or recipe. Or maybe more eggs. A guy that knows how to fly an airplane should be able to figure this thing out, I just need the right advice.

Nice you got a new camera nettie;o)

Hi mekos;o)

Al, we use Bisquick and the waffle recipe on the box. Perfect every time;o) It does use eggs.

After I make dinner I'll make us a new thread unless someone beats me to it...

Bisquick is a good idea. Since you have the other, I would say up your heat to get the crispy fast on the outside but still soft on the inside. You will probably have to do some trial and error to find out just right.

The Robin has flopped .... she landed at my front door today. I'm so excited. At the dining room table where I can spread everything out. My notebook at hand and my computer ready to look up things I don't know. YIPEEEEEE
My mailman is so cute. I have some post it notes in the mailbox so he can leave me a note if I have a package arrive and he has put it somewhere for me. He left a note that said "you have a package. :-))"

Yippie Crit!!!!! Great news!
Charleen got her modem today too so she will be back shortly as she is catching up now with all the e-mails and d-mails and mail mails she has and also having to catch up on some posts and such. So lots of good news today.
Al, I think your problem might be needing little more heat also. BUT the bisquick is great to use too.
