oh mekos you found me seeds for spring thank you so much love nettie
New Bees 01/01/11 friends - new and old...Come on in...
Brrrr!!! Cold here today. Don't like below zero temps! And we're at about 15 below now, and it's snowing more. Hope all you southerners are handling this snow alright! Be careful out there if you have to go out on the roads. At least we're kinda used to driving on snow and ice.
Hi sandy, I'm hibernating. No driving for me. I may be driving dh crazy since he been out of work this week but no vehicles. I love the snow but without the ice this brought. Yes nettie, we gonna have some cute bog plants come spring.
Sandy you stay warm too. You may be use to it but don't make it any warmer. Hugs!
We're not quite to zero yet, but it's early still. We've got lots of snow though.
I gotta show you folks my new two new garden windows installed just after Christmas. They're energy effecient and qualified for a federal credit on taxes. I now have about 8 feet more of window space, which is being taken up fast. This one is on the South side facing my back yard.
Al
Al those are wonderful!! I want to do that in our dining room so much, but just have the money. Maybe this year will be very good financially, and we can replace some this summer, lol! So many projects, so little money, lol! I was just trying to watch the birds outside my windows, and just wish I could get outside to wash them now, but it sure isn't happening in this weather. Maybe in a few months!
mekos had to go out in the greenhouse for water for my little cp to cold to be at the pond for to get them a drtnk ikeep a jug of water in there all the time. saves room in the house, keep 4 jugs of city water by the compactor for the av have to give it time to sit so all the nasty stuff gets out of it av don,t like chsmicals.im trying to let go of a bad head cold feel like ive had it for ever. love and hugs to all nettie, so glad to hear wes is doing better. i think dr.s should not tell people they will not ger better they are not God altho some think they are my dr. always tell me the tipe of canser i have won,t kill me but i will die from smorhing. they are all real nice.

I'll get serious about starting stuff about mid-March. I can get four trays in the South window and maybe two more in the East one. Should be plenty for our fairly small plot. In meantime I'll just fill them up with houseplants to look nice. The window temperature is holding nicely at 62-65 despite being bone chilling cold outside. Yep, it's winter here. Livy and Grandma do winter stuff inside..
Al
I ♥ the new windows Al! That is our next and final "upgrade" project at our place - new windows. We've done a few but still have a number to go...
Nettie, your shelves are nice. My Mom and Grandma grow African Violets like nobody's business. I kill them;o)
Wow nice clollection of African violets!
Al
Love the windows Al and Livy is so cute! Looks like a little Chef already!
Nettie I love the shelves with the African violets. I had the perfect place for shelves like that but no light for plants. Yours are awsome!
keiiy you may be like my missy she kills them with kindness, bless her hsart she doesn,t mean to kill them i tell her to be sure they need water befope you water them and don,t feed them to death she does both. i keep myne on the north side of the house the light is just about all they need gets to hot anywhere else i have another 4 shelves full in the puter room. no more room for them unless i use grow lights and don,t have room for grow lite tablr they are kinda pricy anyway i try and keep them in self watering pots try to get missy to buy this type of pots but she won,t you could have shelvs like these they were not very much and easy to put in i syill don.t have all of them painted but ill get there sooner or later.
thamks al and mekos they keep me buisy never a dull moment around here. likei said funny farm .children do as they please and i let them bill does also he is a push over.they help us alot the kids [m sure billy would love to know when i have roses comeing in he would probly be gone all day. last time he had eo dog holes for 12 shrub roses he trlls me i have to much. im not going to order any this year. that will throw him into shock. tkank you for the kind words love nettie
Thanks Nettie - I like to think it's with kindness;o) I think it's a watering issue with me. I think my Mom waters them when ever she remembers (probably not often) and they thrive.
i wster these about every 3 weeks with the pots i use thats plenty often. some people just have a green thumb they lust look at plants and they thrive love nettie

Kelly, I'm sorry I forgot to tell you I did get them. Thank you so much and I cannot wait to plant. Now I am ready for the snow to move on out of here and let the sun shine again. DH came home from work today(first day back to work this week), and told me someone told him we are expecting a huge ice storm monday. I told him I am NOT and will not accept it. It can just warm up and melt. I am not doing ice any more this year!
Oh I hope it doesn't storm there;o( Glad you got the seeds. I got worried cuz they were taking their sweet 'ol time! I'll send you some of the other kind when I get them.
Our news said warm and sunny 50 degree weather for 5 days so I think the one telling him that got it wrong. Maybe for the mountains of NC. Definately not us.
Thanks Kelly, I'd love any different ones you find. I have several things for you also. Been hectic around here for the last couple months and it is just beginning to let up a bit. I'll get them out to you soon. I sent Mechelle some special seeds to germinate for you and Al and herself as a surprise so when she gets those ready, you should be very happy. I figured with her greenhouse she could do a better job than me. ;-)
Oh I forgot we have a professional greenhouse grower amongst our friends;o) I can't wait - you always come up with something cool;o)
It is a goth plant. Only clue you getting. But I have more seeds for you and will send more to her to grow iffin she has time and wants to do it. I'll check it with her later when I get them all together.
;o)
mekos mould you like me to shair the pages out of that book with you i dould scan them on the printer and print them out. just let me know nettie
al that picture would be nice on cards you are ssure good with that camera my little digital camera is so messed up don,t know what to do about it bill says it would cost more to send it in than it is worth he thinks i should trash it and get a new one he in probly wright . hate to give up the camera dock it is so handy. going to do smothing about it before spring. just don,t know what.
Nettie, there are loads of really good cameras out there a lot less than $100 or so. Look at some of the smaller Kodak Easyshare types complete with their own computer software, they are really inexpensive and good. The older ones are hardly worth repairing, the new ones are much better quality.
Al
al you are right my grand dau. says you know even a good camera will go bad. and this one has gone bad for sure, i think the batteries this thing uses would put a person in the poor house. i have a melota that will focus by its self sause i don.t see as good as i once did i just hate waiting for the pictures to get back. i could always use it for awhile. as bill says it won.t hurt me.
I've shot film cameras for over 40 years, but I don't think I could ever go back to film again. The new digital cameras, even the simple ones, are so much better for computer use. The cost of film and processing has gone out of sight. For the same price you can put a thousand pictures on an SD card and if you don't like them they can be erased and start over. There is so much you can do with images on the computer these days.
Al
Speaking of cameras, can anyone recommend a good digital one that has a large viewfinder like the old film cameras did? I want a new one for outdoor picture taking but can't use the digital screen on the one I have due to vision issues but can still frame a picture with my Instamatic Pocket Camera (which still works perfectly but alas can't get 110 film anymore) which has a large enough view finder for my eyes to still use well. The view finder on my digital is way too small for me to use.
I don't know much Mindy. I use a Hewlet Packard photo smart. I is very easy to use and takes wonderful pictures, I'm not real good with it but that is just me because I don't understand anything accept point and flash.
