Best/Worse/What did I learn/chat about our day!Just Gab'n

Blooming Grove, NY

Hello, dear people out there, and Happy Thanksgiving. It is never to soon to say...SPRING IS AROUND THE CORNER! Anyone out there who is into the ROSALIND CREASY style of gardening? It is one obsession after another....seeds for flowers, herbs, vegs, perennials....they all look so gorgeous combined...I am new to the world of "cyberspace" . We this past season couldnt have enough daylilies around here. Hats off to hybridizers...these flowers are like STAINED GLASS WINDOWS!!!!. WE would go out into our gardens to pick stuff before going to work, and then...Scream when we saw the daylilies...after some years, maturing....so much to look forward to......thanks for listening(reading, whatever) Well like I said, dont know this chat room world...I will hit send and see.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Welcome to the cyber space world!
Glad you found us!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Welcome Lottabeds, always look forward to meeting new friends....hope you stay and chat with us..now where would Blooming Grove N.Y. be? Debbie is between Buffalo and Rochester, we've been blessed with being able to visit quite often..love gardening, you must have read my mind, told the mailman today that the best part of having winter is that spring is around the corner..

Calling for blizzard tomorrow, starting early in the day..yikes, hope weatherman have that wrong.

Maggie, sending hugs sweetie, glad to see you post, am sure your family are thrilled to be able to spend time with you, bet you gave them quite a scare..

Debbie, told you girl you are taking lessons in cooking from me lol..be my thing to burn the buns. Pumpkin pie,yum/yum...

LindaKay, your family sure has had some bad luck these past few months..will add Kathy to my prayers this evening.

Susan, you need something to keep your feet on the ground this next week, lol, re-writes might just do it.

Well you've celebrated Thanksgiving and a few of us gave a little birthday party for Rose, she certainly enjoyed it! Was also nice seeing Ann out and having a laugh. Have photo's but am quite tired so will post tomorrow..do you all have photo's you can share?

Melanie and the boys were here, she had the touques to pick up then she and Noah were off to Collingwood for 3 day hockey tournament..she was dropping Kyle off so he could put a shift in tonight then he's off to his grandparents for the weekend as he takes a weekend course for his gun permit and it's near their home..wish he wasn't interested in doing it but I'm sure Kyle being Kyle he'll never use it, just wants another permit to fill his wallet..lol As for Greg think he'll be home alone this weekend so might find some chores here for him to do.

Off to bed I go but before I do still wishing you all a Happy Thanksgiving and hope you all enjoyed.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Happy birthday Rose!!!
Hope you had a good one!

Baton Rouge, LA

Linda Kay - Your Thanksgiving Cards are SO cute ! Loved them !

HUGS to all... in need of healing, employment....

Betty - Hm... I'm not sure what you mean... I feel that Louisianians and many southern states always seem to be in those "Worst of...." lists.... is that what you mean? (Like Top ten in poverty, teen pregnancy, obesity, etc)..... So not something to be proud of... but it is what it is....

we had a nice Thanksgiving at MIL/FIL's. The funnest thing was MIL pulled out all these old Mardi Gras/Costume Ball type costumes and all the teens dressed up... she gave them all away to them... said she was too old for costume parties anymore... The teens had a BLAST... I'll have to post pics when my other computer gets fixed... Maybe I can figure out on this one.

Belle came to Thanksgiving with us and for the most part...a Good Girl...

Hugs,
Mary

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Welcome Lottabeds!! We're a friendly bunch and we like to talk just about Anything!!

Betty - it's not really a re-write, and the newsletter gets delivered on Saturday at 8:30 am.....
There are a few tiny errors (like saying Christmas Eve service is at 8pm, when it's at 7pm!!) and that the church office is open Mon to Thurs, when it's open Mon to Fri LOL
Anyway, I'm on the 250th page of 400, and it's the first side. I then have to print on the other side......
I bought 2 cartridges of black tonight, cuz I ran out of ink this afternoon, and I KNOW that 1 cartridge wasn't going to be enuff LOL

Verona, ON

Welcome Lottabeds you sure found a great group of gals to have you first experiences with "chat". We are quite an eclectic bunch and lots of fun.We are all here to share all that life rolls at us and give support when ready.
Had my fire for my MIL on Nov 24 night. Dh refused to come out but that is OK he has his own road to travel with his DM's memories.I like you Judy get such peace and closure when I have the fire and let my thoughts and issues go up in smoke. So thanks Betty for encouraging me to go outside and do it.
Sweet dreams everybody - don't laugh I am going to go to bed and try and get some sleep.
Dianne

Victoria Harbour, ON

4:30a.m. Dianne and you say your are going to bed to sleep, omg..surely you weren't up all night, lol, could have been, nice time to get things done when you can't sleep..

Glad the fire helped, perhaps I'll do the same Saturday night!

Have you heard on the news that a big winter storm is blowing in today, imagine out of all of Canada it has to come to my region, not looking forward to it..have some friends to pick up tonight to go to Darlene's for the jewelery show, need a few pieces for christmas gifts but knowing Darlene if it's too stormy she'll cancel until another night..to be expected though..hope your area doesn't get it Dianne..

Mary, misunderstood, thought you said your region had a healthy economy with regards to being able to get employment so I thought from the newscasts that I thought your region was hard hit..as for the other, all our neighborhoods have same problems..

Bet you are all full, sleeping in this morning, some of you thinking about going out shopping and Black Friday and others wanting just to stay inside, maybe you can put away the Thanksgiving decorations and find those Christmas ones and get started.

Maggie, sending prayers your way, do hope the pain is gone and you are feeling much better, you never know what life throws your way do you?

Rose enjoyed her birthday party last night, got some pretty gifts, some homemade..today is her official 20th birthday so think I'll wake her up a few minutes earlier than I usually do so that I can wish her the best...she now thinks she's old, in her 20's, no longer a teen..I wish I had that problem, no I don't..shake my head no/no/no..

Well it's that time of morning, best I get with it, busy weekend ahead!

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Happy Bday to Rose!!!

LK-so sorry to hear about your Sister-will keep my fingers crossed the blood thinners work!!

Hmmm Betty-not sure why it wouldn't let you leave a message...please be safe with the weather today. We had it yesterday, but for us it was constant rain all day...

Judy & Betty-glad you both liked the blog!!

Maggie-glad to hear your lung is getting better!! Keep us updated today!!

We had a good Thanksgiving. It was the 1st one my SIL came up from St. Louis for, so it was really nice to have her. We had a wonderful meal with 2 pies and pumpkin cheesecake to top it off. I was craving pumpkin pie though, so I might have to go out and buy one to feed my craving;) She brought up 2 boxes of stuff from Grandpa's apt and we all went through it. I was very pleasantly surprised. When we were in St. Louis for his 100th Bday, Mom said to look around and see if there was anything we wanted as she knew that in the near future he would be going into assisted living and they would have to clean out his apt. The first thing I saw that I wanted was a set of hand carved animals, a Giraffe, a Gazelle and a Rhino. When I asked about them she said she thought they belonged to his late wife, so instead I chose a set of 2 pics. Well, guess what was in the box?? Yup-the hand carved animals!! He got them on his many travels and they are just gorgeous-will have to take a pic and post it late...

I forgot to tell you all-DH and I went to see the new Harry Potter on Monday and it was pretty good!! I was happy since I was so disappointed in the last one. Can't wait for the 2nd half of this movie to come out in June I think...

Waiting for Jonathan to wake up so I can feed him and then go to Joann's B4 DH has to be at work. I would rather not take him out today, would like to get it done on my own and be home by 9am. Want to get some flannel and some thread....

Verona, ON

Well there is was 4 ish and I was going to bed and now it is 6:54 am and I am up. Nothing like a cat getting sick to wake you up quickly. Poor Streak first time in 4 years he has been sick that I know of..... couldn't just ignore it (DH could) and go back to sleep.
Stacey I am so glad you were able to get the figurines from your Gandpa's apartment. I have nothing of my parents except what she gave me a few years ap. I do have their ddiningroom table wihich has 5 leaves and 10 chairs plus its buffett. My dear dad dug coal at night in the coalyard after he finished his day job to pay for the set. We have had it all restored and the seats of the chairs recovered. It really means alot to me. Whooo Hoooo Jonathan's first Thanksgiving!!
Prayers being sent LK for your sister. Maggie how are you hanging in there sweetie? AS that tube done its job yet?
No monster storm here Betty and Debbie but there is lots of freezing rain out there. Yuck! Safe drive to work Betty.
Judy and Debbie big hugs for you both, I too have some horriffic memories around out Thanksgiving holiday and to this day upset me..
Mary your Thanksgiving sounds wonderful. So glad the kids got to share wearing and then receiving the costumes from you MIL and FIL.
Need coffee! Enjooy your extra day off if you have 1 today friends.

So, I didn't tell you all, My Breenie has a boyfriend!! Had to have a talk with her though, She was out way, way to long the other night.
While i am happy for her, she must still obey the rules. And just because she is 17 doesn't mean she is allowed to be disrespectful...
LOL, she was telling me she has no curfew, legally. Alissa told her this, (she is studying the law) And I said, i don't care what Alissa says, until she gives birth to you, you follow MY rules because I AM Your mother! All in all we did have a great talk and surprisingly understood where I/we were coming from...and yes "that" talk was also brought up, whew I don't have to worry about being a grandmother, lol Thank God she's not ready for that kind relationship yet! Maannn, sometimes having girls is a hard thing. I told her she has a good head on her shoulders, so just remember to use it! We made compromise on the curfew...Anyway We met Ryan the other night, Nice young Man, and cute too...LOL, according to Jacob, his old girlfriends is reporting to whole school that Sabrina Stole him from her... MY gosh! it was News to Sabrina.

Well anyway, Yippeeee and Yahooo, it's Friday and i got nothing to do but play, so going to work Crafts today!! Man oh man, I am so glad to be done cleaning!!

Thanks for the prayers everyone!

Stacey, I had a problem with your site also, but I just hit refresh, and it worked!

Lyndonville, NY

Good morning, a quick hello and then I am off and running to the docs. I have a kidney/bladder infection brewing.....and we have a storm moving in, so I am NOT going to be stuck with no antibiotics if that is the case.

The wind is howling out there, rained all night, and now they say this storm could drop 6 to 12 inches (Big gap?) but it STOPS at our county line...Ummm, not betting on that.

Lots of catching up to do, but I have to scoot, appt. is for 10:45 and an hour drive ahead of me. Grrrr.

Debbie

Glenview, IL

Waiving Hello Debbie, keeping fingers crossed the storm holds off till your safe return!
Gosh, bummer on the infection, glad your catching it before it gets bad.

Linda kay, did you have a nice Thanksgiving? Hows Dad??

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning here safely, road were extremely icy and I sure don't like the warning arrow that keep popping up on my computer telling me storms moving in..hope Paul has same on his computer..lol

Lordy Judy before you know it your girls will be out the door and married, I know, I know, not for a few more years but it's a coming..glad you and Breenie have that kind of relationship that you can talk freely with her, many mom's can't without causing a major war...congratulations to Jake..wow, girls will be checking him out for sure..laughing here, you will have your hands full. Glad that your day was special and that everyone was in top form; as for tummy being full isn't that what Thanksgiving is all about?

Bet that dinning room set is spectacular Dianne, most homes don't have the space for such..grandmother had a similar set with high hutch and lower serving hutch but house burnt and all antiques were lost..I often wonder because they raised me if the loss is why I yearn for everything old and country..antiques I love..could be! You'll be looking to have a nap before 11:00 a.m.

Stacey, can't imagine the line ups at the cutting tables at Joann's, saw they had doorcrasher tomorrow and have the scrapbook cutter that's normally $199. on for $59.99..give my eye teeth for one of those! Bet you shed a tear when you saw the box with the treasures you had eyed in it..quite something isn't it these holidays when you have children, even thought Jonathan is but a baby it still gives you a sense of being complete..glad you enjoyed.

Judy you asked for plans..lunch hour I'll run over to the fabric/wool shop across the street and pick up some skeins of wool to finish an afghan and more wool for the snowmobile dickies and if no line ups I'll go to the liquidation center, Ann want some ribbon (30 yards for $5.00) and another Ott-lite, Melanie thought her mom would like one as she does cross stitch, then homeward bound I go in efforts to miss the storm.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Ohhh/Ohhh forgot to tell you, called Rogers this morning at 6:30 a.m. and got an agent to discuss how I'm not pleased with the service..super high speed is NOT super high speed and I keep losing the server and have to play anywhere from 1/2 to 1 hr to get back on, have the process down pat now, Rose loses it as well so it cannot be blamed on my computer as they said, want a new receiving unit, but of course this gentleman was not a technician but I did ask a few questions about the services I purchased and after looking at my bill saw that the free call minutes they sold me had not been applied and I had been paying for long distance calls..end results (not including my internet concerns) is that I now have 500 minutes to gab in Canada and USA..not a telephone gabber but hey might start doing some calling..do I have your telephone # lol

Debbie, sorry to hear you are not well, glad you got appt. quickly with the doctor, think you best get home and get into bed..all cozy and comfy with a book (gee whiz wish you had the boxes of books I have for you) and get some much deserved rest! Think that when you are over tired you system weakens.

I tried to comment on an earlier post of yours, but it wouldn't work. Soooo glad you heard from Justin! I hope he receives all packages in good shape.

Sorry to hear about the bladder/kidney infection. Get well wishes coming your way!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

wow - lots of news to catch up on.........
Betty - here's something for that 20 yo that thinks she's old.... (Rose) - tell her she's "in her 3rd decade!)!! I used to do that to my DD and it ticked her off LOL cuz she is......... lol (i'm baaaaad but I couldn't Help It LOL)
Debbie - take care of that infection - those things can be Nasty! as I'm sure we all know.....
I've got printing to do, so will be on here, infrequently.......
Take care all, and be healthy! Lots of love to you all ^_^

Lexington Park, MD

Wow storm coming in! Hope you do not get stuck at work Betty. Will they let you leave if it gets bad ????My job you had to stay so we would pack a bag and prepare to stay few days if needed.
Coffee is on and we have leftover apple pie and applesauce bread with cranberries. YUM. To all enjoy your day

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Please take care, going home, Betty - at least you leave when it's still light out.....

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Judy, we had a great dinner, Spiral sliced ham with pineapple, and cherries, mashed taters and gravy, candies yams, dinner rolls, fruit salad, corn, pumpkin and apple pie!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Linda - where is everyone? It seems they may have either fallen asleep from the surfeit of food, or they've gone to the Black Friday sales............

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Most likely sleeping in or shopping! Me, I am sitting right here, nice and comfy! Time for another cup of coffee, need one? I will even include the Bailey's!!!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

ooooooooooh Bailey's........ I'd love to! I'll have to take a rain check on it though..... I'm driving lol
So, besides sitting comfy, are you doing anything today?

Lyndonville, NY

I am back, and the doc did a lot of "huffing" at me. He said "you're grounded!" I told him I didn't have time! lol

"Something" is going on, he sent culture off to labs, but gave me a prescription to get me thru til the results come back. He thinks it is kidneys infected not bladder...but covering all areas. Also, my BP was quite elevated even though I have been taking my meds daily. Was not happy with my hands especially. Said it could all be tied into "infection" and he wasn't making any decisions on that issue til the results came back....take antibiotics and park my backside. HAHA!

Had something funny, he asked if I been sticking to my diet and I told him "yes,, I have two bottles of UNOPENED RC at home, didn't even touch it yesterday......and I haven't had an oreo in months!" He laughed....said he was proud of me. He told me to "hold on" as he went to go get my scripts....and came back with that...and an oreo cookie, for being good.

Maggie, thank you.....I got a note from Justin yesterday and told him to be on the lookout for a "special package" that might have Alaska address on it. ALSO, the people at DH's work had a drive for two servicemen in their areas. Wednesday they sent off 10 boxes, to Justin...about 90lbs of food and such they collected. The same was sent to the other serviceman, who is Marine named Kyler.

maggie, How are YOU feeling? Any news yet on how the lung is doing? Love the picture of you and the kids.

OK, I gotta go pick up my prescription. Its 18 out there with the windchill....brrr!

Betty, drive careful!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Unless the storm rolls in quickly there is no sign of it..good news indeed..just as I typed this the red alert arrow came on, not going to look..

Only had 1/2 hr. lunch today so ran to the Liquidation Nation, picked up ribbon for Ann, doing Christmas arrangement tomorrow, Melanie asked if I could pick up an Ott-Lite, no Ott lights but he said he believes one is on the trailer not yet unloaded but said he'd keep it for me, better after I promoted the sale of about 50..lol..then off to get wool, wouldn't you know the wool I needed to add to the afghan I worked on all week is out of stock so I'll just crochet many rows around what's done and it will do, besides I've already bought Cathy a gift, this is from the furries, I'm sure they'll be ok with the size..

Ann called, everyone out of wet oasis and candle holders for the arrangements, she's been to every store in town so I said providing no blizzard I'd take a run to the Garden Gallery and pick some up so we can do all of them tomorrow..that's about it for me! I too Debbie was a good girl, didn't have time to eat at lunch so that saved some calories

Maggie, don't you be asking to go home before the doctor thinks you are up to it, something is happening and you want them to do all the testing while you are there..find a good book to read.

Debbie, as you know I've 1/4 of one kidney and 1/8 of the other, know what it's like for the entire body to be infected because they are not working..be very careful..now about your hands, hmmm you didn't tell us anything about them did you, if you did I'm sure I was in lala land, tired and didn't catch it...blood pressure problems, yikes, thought that might have been under control now that you've been taking your meds..girl, you just got to lay and do nothing and not worry about absolutely everyone but yourself, you know that don't you, you come first..make a sign and set it at your door, word it as follows, 'nobody but nobody brings stress inside'...

Pour me a 'bailey's' Linda Kay, I've a recipe for it, Roger when we snowmobiled always made bailey's, probably about the only drink I do enjoy..if you want the recipe I still have it..licking my lips about your dinner..me starving and all of you with so many leftovers...drats and more drats..

Susan, you finished with the church flyer??

Hope everyone is getting some great deals if you are out shopping!!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, I would love your recipe for Bailey's please?

Shirley and Tubby, hope you had a good Thanksgiving?

Betty make sure you send pictures of the arrangements you all are going to make?

Warner Robins, GA(Zone 8b)

Linda Kay, how's your sister?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I talked to her for a few minutes this morning. She is still in the hospital, probably till at least Monday, and or her blood clot goes away! She is on complete bed rest, and no movement, other than the restroom!
That's all anyone knows for now! We are all praying the meds work, and soon!

Verona, ON

Debbie you are not going to believe this but I have never once in my life had a drink of RC cola. Now Baileys that's another matter...... yep I'm ready for that coffee and Baileys LK.

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Dianne-I was really glad to have them-they are from DH's Grandpa that just passed away last month...The last time I was at my grandparents I got up the courage to ask for the 2 things I wanted from them. I want the recipes from my Grandma since I am the only baker in the family-originals, not copies and I wanted the skeleton that my grandpa has for my halloween decorations. I was told that EVERYTHING was staying in the house as Jenny, my cousin that lives with them, will NEED everything. Now this is a woman who is 6 mos older than I am, has NEVER moved out and is a hypochondriac-my Grandma who is 81 washes the 34 year old cousins hair for her because she says she can't lift her arms that high for that long. The whole situation is a long drawn out story that really has most of the family angry. Grandma and Grandpa should have been able to enjoy their retirement and their 13 grandkids and 21 great-grandkids, but no, they are taking care of a woman that can take care of herself (even though she swears she can't) TO say I was hurt by their dismissal of my small request is an understatement. I laughed when Grandma said Jenny would need the recipes-Jenny doesn't cook and says "she can only stand long enough to make something quick like a sandwich"-she says she can't stand long enough to help Grandma with dinner EVER. She hurt her back about 10 yrs ago lifting a 20lb bag of rock salt at work. She has been released by the Drs though, so she doesn't qualify for any financial assistance and never has....

Sorry for the slight rant.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Oh, hold out your glass, i will fill it up!

Warner Robins, GA(Zone 8b)

Get well wishes to her!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Stacey - as the Drs have released her, and she's not eligible for assistance, it really is up to her parents to stand up to her, and if she can't cook, What The Heck Is She Gonna Do With The Recipes????? and she "Needs" the Halloween skeleton? Give me a break!!!!

I went to the church this am to start the setup for tonight's movie "Eat, Pray, Love" and someone dropped off some cinnamon buns and muffins for the Distribution Team tomorrow morning - how sweet is that?
The secretary printed off 400 more newsletters...Betty- still folding my last bunch of 200 newsletters, in batches to make it faster..............
a friend is doing the other 400, and she'll bring some to the movie tonight, and I'll pick up the rest tomorrow before we start delivering. She's keeping 185 to deliver within the mobile park.
I'd better get back to folding......

Lexington Park, MD

Does anyone know where I can find a knit girls poncho? I can find patterns to make out of fleece but I really would like a knit one . DD just asked for one .

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Here's a good link:
http://knittingpatterncentral.com/directory/ponchos.php
has all kinds of ponchos to choose from, all knitted.

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Susan-no one knows who her dad is and her mom dies when we were 7-that is why she has always lived with Grandma and Grandpa. They have always babied her since her mom died and she has never had to grow up and be independent at all. The job she hurt herself at was the 1st job she ever had and she had it for about a year B4 the "incident" and that has been at least 10 yrs ago...

AND MY POINT EXACTLY WITH THE RECIPES!!! I snorted and said "yeah right Jenny is going to use the recipes to cook" when Grandma said that-I think that made Grandma a little mad. But-they have 5 kids, 13 grandkids and 21 great grands and Jenny gets EVERYTHING when they pass away....I don't care about anything but those 2 things. I don't want any of the tens of thousands of dollars of tools Grandpa has, the house, the land, any furniture, NOTHING but the 2 things that I know mean nothing to anyone else. The reason I love Halloween is because Grandpa used to do a haunted house in his garage every year when I was little with people scaring you and a maze you had to walk through complete with gross squishy things to touch.....THAT is why I want to stupid skeleton....Oh well....what can you do-I guarantee if I stole the recipes after they were gone, Jenny wouldn't notice for at least 6 mos they were gone-how sad...

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Only 6 months? I wager it would be a year or two..... when someone asked her for a treasured recipe.... well, maybe they'd ask sooner, but That's when she'd notice LOL

Lexington Park, MD

Susan Thank you but I wanted something already done. I cannot knit. Looking for something really anything but no fleece. Needs to be warm. I have seen patterns at sewing store but was hoping for already done as there is no time before xmas to complete everything and a poncho.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Evening all,

Laura, church bazaar's and the likes often have them on sale for good price..started to laugh when you said you wanted them already made lol..wish I had more time, would make them and ship them off, what sizes are you looking for?

Susan, you'll be glad to see the end of that job.

Stacey, you got to love the old saying 'you can pick your friends but not your family'..sometimes people want something just because they know thers want it as well and not because it's of any value or sentiment, just because..

Linda Kay, praying the meds they are giving your sister helps with the clot..dangerous thing to have..

Yawning here, left work, went to the Garden Gallery and picked up supplies to make at least 12 christmas floral arrangements, headed home and still no snow..

Picked up Ann at 6:30 and travelling to Port Severn for the jewelery sale, expensive but lovely pieces, my goal was to purchase something for Darlene for Christmas, lordy she bought almost everything in the book, finally she mentioned she bought the necklace and another time she'd purchase the pendant that has 3 inserts so I purchased them for her, hope she doesn't go check what I've ordered or she'll know it's for her.

Started to get quite stormy so thought it was time to leave..it's blowing and snowing like crazy out there, not sure what the morning will bring, might have to go out and shovel.

Ann said she'd be here around 8am so we could start doing the florals, going to try to sleep in until 7am..

Yawning and tired so calling it a night,
Gab in the morning
