Nice to see you post LindaKay, was missing you..

Maggie, don't they add powder into the lungs once they've collapsed so that should it happen again they won't stick to themselves..probably not the same thing, just grasping for straws and answers

Glenview, IL

Hey Sunshine, Love the prayer Susan offered for you, and i say Amen to that.

Betty, Wish i could give you an Arm Wrap in person, You are in my thoughts and prayers always during these holidays, know it's hard for you at times. Do something special for yourself and know Roger IS with you.

But at this point I am almost finished, so maybe I can come back.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

you are not going to BELIEVE what just happened.......
y'know I got offered the job yesterday... well, i was going to call our mobile salesman and let him know to put the house back up for sale. I hadn't, and the sign is in our house, cuz without a job, I couldn't afford a mortgage....
Well, doorbell rang, and a young couple were there asking if we were selling....!!!!
I COULDN'T show them the house..... since Aug, I have "let it go" and it's in a terrible state! I gave them our salesman's ph# and name, then I called him, and shocked him with both pieces of news!! Our previous contract had expired in Oct anyway, so we'd need to "re-up it"............
O my Goodness!!!! What a couple of days!! Bob said "I don't relish moving in the winter" I told him we'd move if the place sold!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And no arguing!!!! LOL

Lyndonville, NY

Ohhh Susan, such great news! Continuing prayers for good fortune.

Judy big arm wraps to you also my friend. I have some of those "stories" that can just make you so happy you are no longer in that place in life. It is VERY hard for me at time, but I am learning to take deep breaths and move on. Enjoy your day with family tomorrow...and lots of food and RC! lol

Victoria Harbour, ON

Just got home and straight to this site, was hoping Maggie could post to let us know how she's doing? Her family must be frantic..if there is a good side to this it might be that DH not working during Thanksgiving and can be home to help out..

Judy, off you go to the drug store, you know I swear by Excedrin Migraine..me who would get shots every time I got a headache and now when I feel a headache coming on I take one or two, sit for 1/2 hr. and it's gone..

Know both you and Debbie have hard time with the holidays so let's just hold each other tightly..

Have someone else to hold tightly..WAS NOT good news for Mike..Ann broke down with me today..hard times coming..she's coming over tomorrow night, says she needs to come over and breath... so while we're praying if you could include them as well it would be much appreciated..

Warner Robins, GA(Zone 8b)

Keith is on leave for a while. He's home with the kids. :)
Ironic that he asked for leave time...just in time for this!
Well sweet friends, I'm in need of a nap. This whole deal has my butt drained!
Thanks for the hugs, thoughts, and worries.

Have a wonderful evening!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

ok - today is my lucky day, apparently. I didn't "show" the home to the young couple, cuz it's a mess, so I decided to clean up........
When I gathered a bunch of newspapers to put into recycling, I discovered a $20 bill!!! Yikes......!!!

Lyndonville, NY

Maggie, did they say how long they were keeping you at the hospital?
Lots of hugs miss!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

She said, in another thread, at least until Monday.......

Well that's a bummer Maggie. Are you sharing a room? When I was in Critical Care last year my roomate was a man. We were both so ill I don't think we even noticed but my DH and his family sure did.lol
Barbara Walters being the good mother that she was always had a big Thanksgiving dinner. She lived in 1 of those huge, swank coops in NYC that actually had an outside door off of the kitchen. She used to go into the kitchen and bang pots around and then greet the delivery person with her complete Thanksgiving meal at that kitchen door. It wasn't until her daughter was about 13 or 14 that she realized her mother did not cook that wonderful Thanksgiving dinner. Apparently cooking was not Barbara's forte and when her DD asked why she could cook such a wonderful meal at Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter Barbara would answer because it is such a special occasion and I take my time. You have no idea how many chuckles over the years I have had when I think about that sory.
Bonus Susan!!! What a week!

Baton Rouge, LA

Wow... I feel I've missed a WEEK! ((HUGS)) Not a DAY! !!

Maggie - you get better soon... someone's telling you to take a break... ((HUGS))

Susan! Go buy a Lottery ticket gal ! You have really needed a break and I'm SO glad you're getting one... very well deserved.. and your prayers put a big smile on my face...

Prayers for Ann & Mike... and all who are looking for work. It is SO good for me to be on here and read these things... our little area has been relatively not affected as most...and it's easy to forget there are those having a hard time.... so special Hugs for those looking for employment

Oh my Sisters... Judy & Debbie... Very special thoughts and prayers headed your way...

Dianne.. what are we up to tonight? I've got some cashew & peanut brittle for everyone...

My Dad's old Peanut Brittle recipe...but I tried it with Cashews as well... I learned some lessons making it tonight...

I'll be back in a bit...

Mary

Baton Rouge, LA

Dianne - That is Hilarous ! Love it !

Verona, ON

Oh Mary I love peant brittle. My DH makes a good one but only if he dumps it on the floor before he sets it into the pan to cool. Few dog and cat hairs but heck it is so good I don't mind. I got some new to me breadsticks made with Guyere cheese - outstanding, especially dipped in artichoke and asiago dip.

Things that I am thankful for home, health, family and friends. To All Happy Thanksgiving.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you..might have that t.v. turkey dinner I made later today just to celebrate along with you all..

Maggie, know how upsetting it must be for you to be in the hospital but there will be many more..I spent almost a year and missed many celebrations and it was heartbreaking but I always knew it was for the best!!! hugs and prayers going your way..did they say whatever happened is a fluke or did they say to be watchful..you were overdoing it weren't you? you'll have to slow down to a snails pace.

Mary, isn't it funny, on all the newscasts we get up here it's made to seem like Louisiana is the highest hit!

Was listening to the news, said that Canadians to try and stop cross border shopping on Black Friday have started a Black Thursday (your Thanksgiving) and they will match advertized prises of USA..

Was lucky last night, I had been looking for the xbox kinect and everywhere I went they were sold out, Suzanne called, she had been shopping and there were 2 sitting there so she picked them up, wasn't sure what kind of games I wanted to go with them so left that up to me but she doesn't think I'll have problems getting the games, grandsons pretty well done..Suzanne is so thoughtful.

Well off to sweep and wash the floors before I leave for work, have a few girls in tonight to celebrate Rose's birthday..pizza it shall be..

All of you, hope you have a special Thanksgiving..I celebrate all that I've been blessed with this year along with you..

God Bless you all

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Thank goodness you are going to be OK Maggie!! How terrifying that must have been!! Be thankful for your beautiful family, the fact that Keith was on leave so there is someone to take care of the kids so you don't have to worry. What timing!!

Joyce-maybe that is the plan-that your mom and dad need you right now, so that is your current job...

Will be going to MIL's today-supposed to be really rainy and since I don't see the lines at night in the rain, we will be leaving about 4-4:30...dinner is at 2, so we should have plenty of time...

Betty-how cute you are trying to teach the boys to sew!!;)

I am thankful for so many things this year. For my friends and family here on DG, for getting to spend time with them this past summer, for my beautiful son that is truly a miracle, for being privileged enough to have been a part of Grandpa's life, for the fact that my Mom was able to come up when Jonathan came home.....

New blog post:

Good Morning.
Wishing you all a very Happy Thanksgiving!

OHHH,Susan! Wow, most excellent news. Prayers are being answered for sure.

Thank You Betty, Debbie , Mary. Arm wraps were felt yesterday. Everyone deserves giant Arm wraps on this great day.

I hope that wherever you all are it is a good day., Enjoy family and friends and keep spreading the love.

My headache subsided late in the evening, maybe it was just stress.
Wow, it took a monumental family affair, but the house is clean, de-cluttered and ready for company!!
Just have to run the vacuume one last time and wash kitchen floor...
LOL, Steve even took care of all his stuff and we have a kitchen table again. Today, i am going to decorate with a few village pieces. Steve really like the look of them all lit up, Steve's working on the Turkey and our traditional Thanksgiving breakfast! Eggs, tots and toast.
won't eat again til 4:00 when the big feast starts!
We sent Anthony off to Wisconsin to see his family. And he will come back tomorrow...With his new/used car!! He is so excited and so are we. Finally he will have wheels again, and he got a nice deal on it...Gave him a hug and told him to be safe on the road, and be sure to call upon his arrival.

Stacey, Awe just read your blog. How exciting to see Jonathan's firsts. I am smiling big over here.

OK I am going to run again, finish all this up so I can kind of relax before everyone arrives.

MMMMMMM, pies smell good, Laura!!

Lyndonville, NY

Good morning, and Happy Thanksgiving!

Judy, Steve sounds a lot like Paul, who actually just made waffles & bacon for breakfast. We will probably eat around 5:00 "if" all food and company arrival cooperates.

I ended up with a 23 lb turkey....its in the oven! lol I think I might need pain meds after lifting it stuffed, that thing is a monster.

My kitchen, and my rooster floor mat, are covered in flour. Yep, it never fails. I have to go mop! lol

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone enjoy your family and friends

Debbie

Victoria Harbour, ON

Dianne we will indeed celebrate along with our American friends as they did our Thanksgiving..lightly snowing, 34 and the wind was high enough to pull my vehicle from side to side on my way in this morning...brrr chilly, thankful to be inside!

Debbie, no worries about that chicken floormat, washes up easily..

Judy, lots of thngs happening in your neck of the woods as well, you are indeed lucky as is Debbie to have a cook in the family..probably one of the things I miss most! (don't miss all the clean up though after HIS cooking) lol

Laura, can smell the pies from here..

My thoughts and prayers are with Maggie, Bev, Tubby, Laura, let's hope good things come to them this Thanksgiving.

I'm sitting here sewing on pom-poms on the hockey toques..so funny, Greg dropped them off this morning and said he did learn a good lesson, NOT telling anyone anythings else his mom taught him in the craft line, see where it got him, about 60 pom-poms to make in red/yellow/white and blue.. I started to laugh.. luckily Melanie had worked on them and I only got 10 to do, another 3 and project done..you got to help where you can help, Melanie doesn't ask for help so when she does I jump to it!

Then I got the what for, had been up early, washed all the upstairs floors, everything was tidy, went out to the back shed seeing as they are calling for snow/freezing rain and got all the light cords out and was in my jammies/jacket putting up lights when he arrived just before 7:30..yikes, seems anytime I do something I shouldn't he's right around the corner..lol told me to have patience and Saturday he'd put up the white metal xmas trees on front lawn..we'll see, I might beat him to it..

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Dianne - I think that's a wonderful idea - to share Thanksgiving with our US buddies!! After all, we can Always Give Thanks, right?
I'll be going to the church for Bible Study in 3/4 of an hour, so will be thinking of you all then - Bless you all, and Thanks for YOU!
One of our group was originally from Michigan (34 years ago) and she still holds memories dear from that time. She has, however, been in Canada longer than she lived in the States lol We will "remember" the US Thanksgiving day with her, today.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

I just spent the last 40 minutes on the phone with one of my new bosses..... she "offered me the job" which she should have done, she said, before the Offer Letter was sent out. LOL
She agreed with me that they Desperately need a secretary to do this type of thing for them! Or at the very least, remind them when they are to do things!!
It's a little further than I thought (more like 10 min I'm guessing) but I have parking, and they Have A Secretary ^_^

Lyndonville, NY

Such a wonderful week you have had Susan, congratulations again! I will have pie in your honor!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Oh Debbie, have a piece for me, tell me, what kind of pies do you have, maybe I'll order the same at lunch and I can pretend I'm there celebrating with you all..

Know it's a long way off but my thoughts are when I host the DG Sista's 2012 reunion which by the way you are all invited I will theme it Christmas with DG friends and will decorate same as I do now, not sure how I'll get snow on the ground but am sure I'll find a ways..lol

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Congrats Susan!

And will have two types of rolls...Burned and unburned...its a given!
LOL! I thought I was the only one that did that!

Lyndonville, NY

Linda, its a special family recipe! lol

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Hi all - just got home from Bible Study and revamp of the new church newsletter, and watering the plants........
The newsletter btw is the first one we've created, and it's to be delivered by our volunteers (me included) this Saturday. The church secretary printed 400 of the 800, double sided, legal size papers, and THEN someone found some date and fact errors!!!!
So, I will correct the errors on my system - hers won't read Office 2007 - and then reprint them on my system (church can't afford to reprint them........) then I have to fold them so it looks like 4 pages....... she'll print the other 400, and I'll have to go to the church to fold 'em..... I guess I'm going to be busy on Friday LOL

AND - the Bible Study group got a cake to celebrate my new job - isn't that awesome?!?!

Verona, ON

Very awesome!
Maggie how are you doing today?

Warner Robins, GA(Zone 8b)

I'm ok I guess. My lung still isn't fully inflating...it's at about 90% though. I hope it opens soon so that I can have this chest tube removed. I'm pretty confined here. I can't even use the bathroom that's in my room.

Hubbs & kids are here. I'll be back

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Will you all add my Sister Kathy to the prayer list please! I got a phone call about an hour ago, she is in the hospital with a blood clot in her lung. They will keep her there for 3 - 4 days, with lots of blood thinners going, to try to dissolve it! It is most likely from her ankle surgery she had a few weeks ago.

thanks
Linda

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

((((((((((Kathy & LK))))))))))))) Prayers are being said, for Kathy, and for the ease of worry that Linda's going through.
