Best/Worse/What did I learn/chat about our day!Just Gab'n

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Mary & Shirley-the only way I can sing is off key and he just looks at me like "really mom?"-LOL

Shirley-can't wait to see a pic of your island!!

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Shirley, you sound just like Betty talking about your island project...that's a GOOD thing! Glad to see you posting and letting us join you in your life.

Babe....good job. I can just see those beds planted next year....I'm proud of you!

Well, the interview was interesting. She told me it would take 30 minutes. It took 17. Not sure if that's a good thing or not. Anyway, I wasn't feeling very good about the interview and then Betty posted the "Take off the Limits" article. Now I feel better. She said they hope to finish up with the phone interviews by today and go over them with the higher ups to decide who they want to come in for a face to face. Sure hope it's me! She said they'd let me know one way or the other by late Friday or on Monday. So still praying and keeping my fingers crossed.

Mary, the color on that bloom is amazing. It almost looks fake! Beautiful!

It's already 62* here....heading for a high of 70. Tomorrow is expected to be 72*. I'm lovin it.

So today is the appt. to find out about the catscan my mom had. We're going to the surgeon at 2:00. Please keep us in your prayers.

Love you all!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Will be praying for your needs Joyce both for possible employment and your mom!

Your weather is perfect..it's only 43 here and not higher than 50 is predicted, still, if I were home I could be doing yard duty!

Was so laughing Shirley about the 'ma and pa kettle' reference..omg I so loved watching their shows, wouldn't miss one..thinking back, think they had the best of life could offer, however poor people thought they were. I often think of renting a U haul when travelling as well..that little trailer I purchased can have the bed removed and use it as a towing storage area only, come spring I'll have to see how they do it, it's put away right now..

Drats, mom called me at work a little while ago, ask if I knew a truck driver who drove Florida route, nope, so she calls back, asked if I could research moving van type delivery, she'd fly down , fly back and have her things shipped..tried to tell her the cost would be mega, again tried to say, let the place go, you can purchase t.v./good towels here, go on a shopping spree but she said her dad had a little tree there and she'd love to have it..yikes and more yikes, it's value is about $10.00...I know, promised I wouldn't complain, am rolling with today's punches, smilling away..could be worse I guess..

Warner Robins, GA(Zone 8b)

Oh Betty....I just went thru hell with a moving company! Our 2nd time having a bad experience with different companies. It is VERY expensive. The 1st time we had THEM pack and load our belongings. When we opened boxes, I cried. Boxes were marked by room on the outside, but inside the boxes was a DISASTER! Everything was mixed together.

The 2nd time was devastating. I researched a bunch of companies and went with one that 3 of our friends had used & recommended. This time WE did the packing and loading. When we moved into our house, we called the company to set up a date for our delivery. Keith took 2 days off from work to be here because WE were also unloading the truck. That day came & went....no delivery....no belongings. We called and called and CALLED...left multiple messages....got no reply. Eventually their phone numbers were disconnected. I was in a PANIC. EVERYTHING I OWNED was in a semi trailer somewhere between Fairbanks, Alaska and Warner Robins, Georgia.

I googled this company and found many others were left waiting....either for their belongings to be picked up or dropped off.

It turned out, the company had gone under. Obviously. They didn't notify anyone. We had already paid them. I was devastated. We were out THOUSANDS of dollars AND everything we owned. I called everyone trying to find answers and or advice....days of nothing. Nothing but tears down my cheeks and a sick stomach.

Finally, Keith found the trailer sitting at a storage facility about 20 miles away and another company, after hearing our ordeal, delivered it without charge. Bless their hearts.

We had everything back...great right? WRONG! Everything was wet & moldy! We had to make a claim on our insurance.

The company that screwed us was 'Pack and Ride'.

I WISH WE HAD SOLD EVERYTHING.

Good Luck with your Mom. Does she have a friend in Florida who would appreciate her tree???

I wish you the best

Victoria Harbour, ON

OMG Maggie, that's a story from hell..guess you'd almost have to rent a truck/trailer and do it yourself. It's the personal stuff though that you cannot replace..

Very good suggestion, will find out if there is someone she knows who might be able to go get the tree/towels and t.v.;why ? I absolutely don't know why because between her house and cottage they have more t.v.'s than they know what to do with and towels, omg she's a towel and scatter rug freak, just ask Crissy, lol...but she could pay someone to get them and somehow I'd get them back for her..good time for me would be March Florida trip.

Hmmm will have to try and approach her differently, must be someone she knows, she gabs to absolutely everyone..lol (like her daughter)

Finished with the tears, lordy watched our Ottawa Memorial Celebration for almost 1 1/2 hrs. and when they started to talk to the veterans their stories were so poignant that you couldn't help but cry..tonight there is a memorial show called 'you will remember them'..showed us about one young soldier who lost his life in Afghanistan, talk about emotional, still drying my eyes..I'll be sure to watch it tonight as well.

Maggie, were your ears burning yesterday afternoon ???? there was a young man in our office, he's now working from home and being Mr. Mom and was talking about the special bond he has with his daughter and the events they go to so I just had to show them the Father/Daughter photo..we all ohhh and ahhh'd..precious to say the least..talk about a memory she'll have..hope you don't mind my showing everyone..

Victoria Harbour, ON

Crissy, what cutie patuties those kitties are..was difficult to see them clearly though, these old eyes are not the best! Was laughing this morning, was gabbing with Rita and she said she was doing a '50's' dance in April as a fundraiser and had an Elvis impersonator coming...thought if your dad was closer she could have 2;
you won't forget Canada's largest Elvis festival this year...

Shirley, I'm only a few hundred miles north of the N.Y. state so perhaps you could visit with me, might even take that trip to Red Lake then down into Buffalo..so much to see..

I've some seeds I could send you but not of hibiscus but you could have a little area called 'garden of the north'

Debbie, how are things this morning, did you finally get a good night's rest?

Laura, is your cake all gone now that you've shared it here with a few girls because it's lunch time and I'm hungry..rather have desert then eat my main meal just incae I don't have enough room in my tummy..

Mary, how did your beating go???? hope you will have enough strength to come on tonight and tell us all about it. Your camera takes excellent photo's!

Just called and made appt. for hair cut tonight..perm just doesn't take so I'll try just a cut and see if I leave it for awhile and then have a perm it might take..

Warner Robins, GA(Zone 8b)

We were lucky though....even though it was ruined, at least we got our stuff. I spoke to one lady who moved to California and her stuff was sitting in Maine. She had no idea how she was going to get it back. She had already paid Pack & Ride and didn't have the money to pay another company so....I don't know what came of her situation. Our next move, we're going to trade my car in for a Suburban and buy a trailer. We'll do everything ourselves. :) I've always learned things the hard way.

Maybe she could get seeds or starts from her tree?

I don't remember my ears burning, only my stomach muscles hurting from laughing so hard! Between you & Carole.....my goodness I was cracking up!

I don't mind at all you showing the pictures. That day was so special. I'll never forget her looking up at Keith and saying, "Daddy, I feel like a REAL PRINCESS!". Priceless! I'm sooooooo looking forward to the next Father/Daughter Ball!!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Bet there were tears in your eyes..what wonderful memories, can you imagine these young little princess's who never get to do things with their 'dad'..

Hard enough moving and keeping within a budget and then have such things happen, you'd think the company would have already known they were going under..not to reputable ..wonder how people can live with themselves, doing such things..

Hopefully you won't have to move any time soon Maggie..

Glad we gave you a laugh!!! lol

Lunch time, ran out of wool so off to Walmart I go..guess it's McDonalds for me.

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Oh Maggie-you and I ahve so much in common!!LOL We moved 3 times for DH's jobs-once form Mesa AZ to San Jose Ca and then to Fresno CA then to here-the last move we were given money and the others were taken care of totally by his work and were great moves. This last one was horrible like that. After they "lost" our BRAND NEW 47" HDTV and damaged most of our furniture....that is just about 10% of the bad experience!! And I even filed complaints with the BBB and the Federal Transportation commission (I think that is it's official name-have the papers in the basement someplace).

MAGGIE-have you seen my blog yet??

If I EVER moved a long distance again, I would do a POD....about the same price as a moving company and a good reputation.

Copied and Pasted:
Jonathan had his shots today. I was a little upset about the whole ordeal and will never make an afternoon apt again. I usually make morning ones and have like no problems. This one I waited almost 45 mins to get in and was in there for 45 mins. A good portion of that I was left waiting with a nekked baby in only his diaper. My usual Dr is on a mission in Guatemala for a couple weeks, so I saw a different one and while she answered all my ??, I wasn't real happy with her. From things that I have read (and if everyone could please stop messing with me about that) a lot of what Dr's have explained away as Colic is actually reflux or GERD, especially with preemies. Dr. Collins listens to me and doesn't dismiss me or what I have read. This Dr tried to explain away his feeding issues as Colic which I didn't like and she really didn't listen to me. She did tell me his eye problems are a partially blocked tear duct and that his development is going excellent. By the time he is about 7mos he should be caught up with full term babies. He is strong, has good muscle function and is already trying to roll over if you put him on his tummy. She said she thinks his eyes will be dark, but she doesn't think they will be brown. Then I waited for 25 mins with a cranky, cold, naked baby while the nurse got the immunizations ready. One was oral and four were shots-they used my poor Bubbie as a pin cushion!! I felt so bad, couldn't watch and cried when he started screaming. They told me the immunizations aren't waht they used to be and he shouldn't have any adverse reactions. That was a relief!! The Dr also told me I have to peel back the skin on his winkie like 3 times a day to make sure the skin doesn't grow back-I am sure that is something he will NEVER want to know his mom did!!LOL

Victoria Harbour, ON

Stacey it's wonderful news though that Jonathan will be up to what he should be by the time he's 7 months old! Healthy and happy he will be that =smilling mommy doesn't it?

GOT A QUESTION?????

Is it ever ok to lie???

Got to see your answers

Lyndonville, NY

Betty, it depends what the lie is.

Ames, NE(Zone 5b)

Good Evening -
I just got my twin brother & wife, son-in-law & his buddy from Wis.& Mom on their way back to my Mom's. They came down and helped with some of the wrap on the house. They didn't get it all done, but
I'll put the lath on myself and a group of guys are coming out on the 20th to help. They didn't do it exactly
how I thought it should be, but one doesn't look a gift horse in the face. I'll do what needs to be done till
my help gets here.
They say not so nice tomorrow, rain mixed with a little snow. Oh well, hopefully it's a tease and won't last
long.
Tubby's girls and two of the grandkids came out for a little while. They stayed in the house. Tubby stayed
in bed. It was good to see the kids.
Betty - would love some seeds from the north and make a special spot in the garden. That would be great.
Maggie - that picture was priceless and she'll never forget those moments. They didn't have things like that when I grew up and my Dad was always working to support the family. He was a quiet man. I think of him often and wonder what he would think about things. He only got to meet one grandchild before he
passed away and that was my daughter. They were best of buds. Her oldest one was a premie. She only weighed 2 1/2 # and by the time she was 5 months she looked like a newborn. She's 19 now.
If I was ever gonna move I'd do it myself with a U-haul or something. I don't hear too many good stories
about any moving co.
Well, I need to close out. Tubby is sick and having a hard time getting it stopped. I'll check with you all in a day or two.
God Bless and best wishes to all -
Shirley

Lexington Park, MD

Betty I agree it depends on the lie. What are they called Little white lies.
Have mom fly down pack a box and mail it back. She does not need everything there .
DH hurt his back while moving tool box and car is not fixed. He is in alot of pain.
Yes some of the cake is still here. But you have to get it now or I will finish it. sooooooooooo good.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

ohhhh horror stories about moving companies - I've had a few too, but mostly it's because I've lost track at 40 personal moves........ so I was bound to have issues on Some of them LOL

Shirley - give our best to Tubby - hope he feels better soon ^_^

Betty - you're talking about a lie to your mom, right? Yes, given the fact that she isn't happy when you tell her the truth..... It's not that she'll suffer from it, it's just that you & she aren't going to be happy with one another if you 'hurt' her feelings with the truth, and it's eating you up..... Omission isn't working, either.... However, that having been said, are you able to keep up with the lie, if she questions you??????? You're such a tender-hearted sweetheart, that you're likely to 'give in', don't you think so??

Baton Rouge, LA

Hello To All !

Wow Susan - 40 moves... I would go nuts... and being an Air Force Brat I was pretty used to moves growing up... perhaps why I got stuck here in Baton Rouge forever.. No More Moves for me !

Well... Deb & all... I suppose I ought to stick to taking pics with my phone ...not my camera.....Happy early Birthday to Shannon !♪♫♪♫ What will you be doing to celebrate ?

LOL@ Stacey... and Prayers to Joyce !

Shirley... I am the "Beginner Gardener" here... so it's just good that that hibiscus is alive LOL.... but I will try to figure out how to do the seed thing... it's about time I learn how. This tropical hibiscus is called a Rum Runner... I suppose it would grow indoors where you are. I know you have water hibiscus which are beautiful and large as well....but they can freeze and come back I think... Anyhow ... I owe you because Tubby actually sent me some hibby seeds WAY back when... my water hibbys are pink and I think yours are red... Unfortunately I tried to plant some of those seeds and haven't been successful yet... but I have more to try... Long story short... I will try :)
Maybe I can just clip the old bloom and dry it out and mail in ziploc...Dmail me your address....
Laura - hope that car gets fixed real soon...

Betty (& all) the morning "Beating" was VERY strange...I'll try to figure out how to explain...

As far as telling a "lie"... Here's what comes to mind, Betty. Mom was in Birminghan when her pancreatic tumor was removed... She was to come to my house first for recovery. While in Bham.... DSis in Florida took care of her 7 dogs. Her Alpha dog (Favorite) Duke... died. (another story... I think he 'knew' Mom would be following soon).

We (family) were in therapy anyway (the girls) so I made a point to ask the Therapist if we should "lie" about Duke's passing until Mom was settled and stronger....and Therapist agreed...

It was difficult to do... but it was in Mom's best interests... and she understood once she was better ....why we waited to tell her....

So I think what I'm saying is... if Mom isn't "herself" and making poor choices... and a lie is what is necessary for the right choices to be made... and it's in Mom's best interests....then I think it's Okay.... I hope that helps...

Hugs to all.... Back in a bit...

Mary

Warner Robins, GA(Zone 8b)

Well said, Mary.

Warner Robins, GA(Zone 8b)

40 MOVES!?!?!?! I can't even imagine! I'll totally shut up with my move nightmares! Wow!

Warner Robins, GA(Zone 8b)

Thank you, Shirley. There was nothing like that when I was young either. I love being able to give my kids the things I didn't have...within reason.
2 1/2 pounds...bless her heart. My cousins son was about that. He was born at 26 weeks and dropped below 2 pounds. Today he's a wild, funny, sweet, driving a car, 16 year old...and he's chubby :). He was, for years, very small, but he had a smile as big as the sun! Gosh I miss that kid (he lives in Ohio...I'm in GA).

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

It was once again a beautiful day in Franklin, Ohio...over 70 degrees. I unfortunately was at the surgeon's office. The results of the catscan are this. The tumor at the beginning of the large intestine is about 1 1/2 to 2 inches in diameter. There are 3 with a probable 4th place on her liver. So the next step is to see an oncologist. This will be the medicine oncologist, and then from there, probably to a surgical oncologist. He said one scenario would be for them to take the mass out that's in the colon with any lymph nodes that are infected and then to put probes in the spots on the liver and either freeze them or nuke them to kill them. So we wait now to hear from the oncologist. The surgeon today said if we hadn't heard from the oncologist by Tuesday to call his office back and he'll get right on it. I just hope it's not another 2 weeks waiting for an appointment.

We're all trying to stay "up". I said to her while we were waiting...
"God's Will and he won't give us anything we can't handle"....she said she'd already been saying that, too.

Baton Rouge, LA

Geez Joyce.. My Hugs and Prayers for you... I hope you don't go through what I did....

Lexington Park, MD

Goodmorning to all. Coffee is on. I am off and running kids this way and that . The trees are a beautiful color right now .And frost on the ground. It is getting closer (winter).

Lyndonville, NY

Joyce, sending some extra big hugs and prayers to you this morning. Will keep you both in my prayers. The waiting is sometimes the worst part as your mind just plays out every scenario. It sounds like she has doctors you are confident in, that is a good thing.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

My prayers are with you and your family Joyce. Prayers for a swift journey through all this....

Victoria Harbour, ON

Joyce sending hugs and prayers along with those before me..your heart must be heavy, right in knowing that the Lord has his reasons and not always do we know what they are...in the Lord's hands it's best to leave your cares..

Shirley, know what you mean with regards to getting help and it not being quite the way you would do it but it's done and I'm sure they've done their best and it's less work for you. Am sure Tubby enjoyed being with his family, just sorry though, he's not doing well. Has he been able to keep things down since you last posted? My goodness, you have to wonder how someone that small could survive? Miracle for sure.

Laura, hope hubby is ok..sounds as though you've a busy day ahead of you, do take time for yourself.Coffee is yummy but where did you hide the cake????

Maggie, Ohio isn't that far from Georgia is it, do you get to visit often..guess it could be far if you are at the bottom end of Georgia and they at the top end of Ohio?

Mary, guess telling your mom the white lie still left your crown shinny..mine is tarnishing by the minute..lol

Lordy, left the house at 6:45a.m. went to Home Depot to get wood cut for a project, got to tell you that's the time to get things done without crowds, they open at 7:00 and by 7:20 I had the wood and cut into sections to make it lighter..even stopped at my brother's this morning before coming to work, had a gab session about Florida, guess she was talking to him telling him I'm taking her..he happened to mention he was going to Buffalo this weekend and she said she'd like to go, don't know how he talked her out of that one..lol We both spoke about Mom and the trip to Florida, both think it's absolutely ridiculous, now to get it through to mom...OK, won't tell a WHITE lie..was going to say I get off the Thursday before Christmas, have to work the Wedn./Thurs. off 1/2 day Friday and then of course I have the weekend off so that breaks up my time off, can't go because of the shortness in time off but, guess I'd feel badly and end up telling her I fib so best not do it...enought of the mom talk...

It's 43 here this morning, fingers a bit numb, cold .. right now you cannot see outside the office for fog, no wind so no burning off!

I listened to the news this morning, there were 2 little boys, eldest 10 who went missing at 5pm, not far from here, Amber Alert was issued, family/friends/municipality/police all looked in the forest nearby..hadn't found them, then just minutes before I left the house they were found, very cold, frightened but with parents..now being checked out and as police first thought there was a truck in the area, they will speak with the children to see if they were picked up or if they just wandered off not knowing how to get back out of the forest...happy ending for sure!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning Barb, nice to see you post...was starting to worry, just about ready to send out the DG police..how are you and Norm doing? still sewing up a storm..would imagine the weather in your neck of the woods is much like ours..enjoy being inside

Lexington Park, MD

Betty glad you enjoyed the coffee but the cake is gone.....but it was so good.
About the trip to Florida. You would drive? How long will that take and can MOM sit in car that long>Seems like alot to go through...I am with you let it go.
DH moving very slow and in pain will not go to the doctors.HARD HEADED.
Temp here is 57 and windy. Out at soccer last night until 6:30 so cold.Back out again tonight and final games on Saturday in the morning. Have a great day to all back to sewing........

Victoria Harbour, ON

Outdoor sports isn't the best in this kind of weather..thank goodness my grandchildren play inside arena's..even then it's chilly..cold is not good for sore backs!!! What were you lifting? Men, can't tell them what's good for them can you..

Florida drive would take a good 2 full days..long drive

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Shirley-Jonathan was a preemie too, but he was the big kid in the NICU at 5lbs 8 oz born 7 weeks early.

Betty-there are a few instances where I think it is OK. Like when someone asks if you like their outfit. Or when it comes to a Bday or Holiday. Or in the instance that was mentioned above. Lies that are meant to deceive for a bad purpose are the ones I don't think are OK...

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Betty-I know my mom lives in GA and it takes her about 11 hrs to get here with gas and bathroom breaks...

Glenview, IL

Good Morning!

Wow, So nice to Seeing You Shirley!! Tubby, sending some warm gentle hugs your way, I hope you get to feeling much better.
.I love all the work you've been doing. Probably taking a load off your shoulders with the extra help! So glad you got to see the kids too.

Joyce, My prayers continue up for Mom. Sure hope it's not a long wait, but even better, it was caught so early...Trust in God, I am glad to see you both have...

Betty, i knew you would come to a good decision about fibbing...What everyone has said makes good sense, however in the end, it depends on your own personal conciouns, and since you don't really ever do it, mom will know just by your tone and knowing you, You'll feel terrible about it.

Happy Birthday Shannon...Debbie, how are you feeling? I hope the stress headaches have taken leave.

Mary, cute pic of Belle and Kitty, lol even tho i had to lay on the side to see it...My gosh, i could swear i made a post yesterday, especially on the morning Beating, lolol...Strange meeting huh?hmmmm, I hope was a good strange.
hibiscus, Oh Thank you!! LOL, I transplanted 3 from a certain compost pile at Sistah gathering, was trying to remember as i made a post and couldn't remember what they were!! Maybe in the spring, take a cutting and root.

Thank You everyone on my garden...A long term dream is finally re-acurring! Got to say i am really pleased with the way it's turning out too...spent the day finalizing the yard work, LOL now to work the front! I think it was Mary who asked about the fire pit...No my fire pit is right off the deck, In the picture is what you see from there, That larger space to the left of new beds is where i am going to have a Vegetable garden...An outside greenhouse sort to say..It used to be a pool, that now has been vacant for the last 3 years!
House, Thanks...Yep, i love my little paths, I do walk them all the time, LOL, I sew on them, read on them or i had just laid those paths and it was where Betty and i first met via Phone!!

OK, well i have got to go to Devry with Julia...So best get her up and moving!

Wait first, how about a funny Jake story?

LOL, He was going to take a break between sports and rest up, Well coach didn't see that that was good, so he's right back to working out and doing the wrestling stuff...Wednesday evening, I picked him up and he was Shirtless! I was thinking, geesh it isn't that nice out.
So as he climbs in to the car, I asked wear is his shirt, He practically is in tears, saying how his entire body is burning!! What??Mom alarm goes off. Turns out, someone offered him some bengay to ease the muscle pains, he was complaining about...Nice thought right.
Turns out Jake thought it was regular lotion, wanted more then what the kid squeezed into his palm...so the kid complies. Jake begins rubbing the lotion all over his entire body...Thought nothing of it smelling minty, until the burning started, Poor kid, said he was screaming into his towel...All the kids laughed, jake has never ever used any kind of healing creams...lol, we always do his massages and just as he was a baby used regular hand creme...OH my everywhere, face, ears, hands, fortunatley he didn't put in the more private areas!!
LOL, He said he'll never use that stuff again...But he did laugh later at not knowing what Bengay was, what a way to learn!

Ok gotta go, you all have a good day.

Oh and thanks for the Cake, yummy.

Warner Robins, GA(Zone 8b)

It's 13 hours. I have a bunch of things that have prevented me from making the trip. I've only been here 5 months and it's been chaos....house hunting, 2 kids in school, had a baby, only had one car...the list goes on. I think I'll drive up in the spring. Around morel season!!!! YUMMY! Who knows how long the drive will take me....with 4 kids & a dog who's older than dirt. I'm sure it'll be fun though. My kids are well behaved in a vehicle...maybe I should have bought a motor home instead of a house! :)

Victoria Harbour, ON

OMG Judy, poor Jake, what a mistake to make, yep he'll remember the name of that cream "bengay" wasn't so gay after all was it..he's young Judy, he can take the fitness workouts, probably better for him

Laughing here, you just reminded me, beg your parden if I told you of this the other day, couldn't remember where I put my toothpaste so saw that Rose had hers out so why not use it..so Monday morning I did, still couldn't find mine, used it Tuesday as well..thought this is kind of a blah toothpaste, looked at it..oh/oh it was salve for exema sooo I bought a big tube so I won't do that again..lol teach one to read things right!!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Joyce - prayers being said for your Mom - Thank Goodness it was caught early. My thoughts are with you as you wait for the Dr to tell you more.

To those that are surprised at the 40+ personal moves - my ex is a trucker and I guess he was mentally always "on the move" and I Hated moving. 3 times I've initiated the move and everyone was surprised. One was when a maintenance man refused to let my 10 yo son back into the apartment block because "you're not listed as a paying tenant on the lease" - the maintenance man was drunk, obviously. Another was when I moved in with my Bob (my DH now), and the 3rd and likely most surprising was when I moved from Winnipeg to Calgary - a distance of about 900 miles (basically, no family here in Calgary, although my cousin is here, her hubby isn't a fan of us and therefore we don't associate with them except by she & I emailing.....)

Victoria Harbour, ON

Oh Maggie, do you really get morels in Ohio? get them in quantities???
Might have to see if Joyce knows where they are found...

It was a yearly tradition when I was a young girl, my cousin Linda and I would go with grandma and Aunt Alda picking morels, they were plentiful then, she put them is salt I believe it was so worms/bugs would come out and then fry them in butter, would have morel sandwhiches..I'd never eat them, to me they looked like little christmas trees.

I still go looking for them but to no avail....do it more as a remembrance than anything else! If I remember correctly they sell in some stores the cultured morels right?

Life does seem to get in the way! I've a friend who home teaches her children, now teens, they bought a big r.v. and went all over USA and Canada as a learning experience for Geography and History..that's the way to go..

Victoria Harbour, ON

Wow, that's a lot of moves, let's see I've had 6..my next move will be either to a seniors complex or funeral home..not much packing for either..

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

I'm hoping my next move will be a house, on our own property. This owning a home, but not the property sucks!!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Wonder if when you own it you can say you truly can do what you want on it..rules/regulations etc.

Warner Robins, GA(Zone 8b)

Quote from Bettypauze :

HAHAHAHA!!!!!!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

The mobile isn't a condo so we can do what we want with it - as long as it's within the confines of the lot, doesn't adversely affect other homes, and we don't have a "garbage dump" of a property. They do inspect properties to make sure we're not keeping a mess, although I've seen some that have extra vehicles they are working on looking like a "shade tree mechanic" area with some pretty junky cars.......in the common roadway, no less!

I am at 9 moves myself, but 3 of them were when I was young and didn't have a lot of stuff;)

Betty and Judy-LOL on your toothpaste and Bengay stories!! DH did the Bengay thing when he was younger too and put it on right after a shower-if you have ever done that you know that get the minty stuff in open pores HURTS really bad!! Judy-is that what happened to Jake?? I have used it on my back B4, but I think that is about it...

I read the whole 40 moves thing wrong and was wondering what the big deal was with Susan seeing 40 movies-was it like a weekend marathon or something-LOL
