Happy belated b'day to Todd....hope the carrot cake was the best ever.....
Debbie I'm still laughing about the "scratching" in places not wanting to know about. I too almost ruined a keyboard with that one. Coffee all over my PJs!!!! The next time she starts with the "when I make it" stuff, hit her with "Okay so you bring it !!!!" and see what happens-----diplomacy is wasted on someone like her...
Saying hello to everyone -- and both Norm and I are so glad to hear from Shirley and Tubby. I do hope you will join us often. And how are you feeling Bev? Jonathan is getting so big Stacey and he looks so healthy. You MUST be doing it right .....And Judy, and Mary and Dianne and Laura and anyone else I missed.
Betty you are so busy... I thought you were to try to take it easy for a while. You need to slow down a bit my friend as we want you here for a looooonnnnng time to come....Sean is coming one afternoon this week to start his project. I just need to find out which day....He is excited about doing it.
I finished piecing the second kittens quilt top for my DGDs. They are 7 and 3 1/2 so I'm hoping the older one will still like it. She is growing up toooooo fast. I finished the lap quilt for my SonIL and just have to sew down the binding. I finished three table runners, four placemats, four candle mats, four ornaments, six 80"rows, one appliqued Santa block and still need to make a stocking.... No wonder I'm tired...And to top this off, I spent an afternoon teaching Norm how to piece a table runner. He had to do it all from ironing his fabrics to cutting a straight edge; from how to use the rulers and rotary cutter to cutting the blocks. Then he learned how to thread the machine and wind a bobbin. Then he sat down and sewed on it for the very first time ever. I showed him how to "nest" his seams so his corners would meet and that's when he ran into trouble. It seems the tips of his fingers are numb!!! He has no feeling in them from the operation on his arm. He knew there was some loss but didn't know how much. So he nested his seams visually. He did really well and I'm so proud of him. I wanted him to know what was involved in a pieced quilt top before he started to quilt one on the long arm. I think it gave him a greater appreciation for the work that goes into one. I'll post a picture of this treasure!!!
And now to tell you about why I've been so scarce lately. Norm bought me a new sewing machine. No, not the longarm one - that is for him!!! He bought me the Janome Special Edition 11000!!!!! This will just about make a quilt for me with everything that is built into it. It is also an embroidery machine which I've never run one before. So between this one and his longarm, I'm on a major learning curve...
So if I'm quiet for a while - don't worry about me. I'll just be wrapped up in the moment for a while.
Here is Norm's first table runner!!!!
Best/Worse/What did I learn/chat about our day!Just Gab'n
Barb you will have to tell Norm he did a great job. I think it is awesome that he is learning to sew and quilt. And congrates on the new machine. I bet you both are having alot of fun trying all the new toys out.
Betty I still have not gotten to my wood project yet.Trying to finish for Thanksgiving. Then still have a few quilts to make for xmas. Not enough hours in the day.
Oh my Barb, you tell Norm when we're at the Christmas crunch he can make a few $$$ taking on some of our project, excellent work..my goodness, some of his corners are better than ours..putting me to shame..
Look forward to seeing the works of art you and Sean will do..know he enjoyed last year's project and the few extra he attempted as well..
Lucky you, beautiful machines, no wonder you aren't taking a break away from sewing..too much to play with.
It's that time of year, we'll have to forgo sleeping Laura in order to accomplish 1/2 of what we think we can do!
Crissy sorry the Flea market was a bust..I was also disappointed with the craft show, only because a lot seemed so much the same, but, maybe it was the being rushed that did it..
Happy Birthday to "Todd" hope it was a sunshine day for him..
Well, lots of plans when I last posted before 9am this morning, no sooner did I press send that I got a call from Ann, she was in need of a friend..Mike has been quite ill and I guess she just needed to be somewhere else for a few hours..we had talked about painting in Genesis (heat set paints) cook book covers out of wood, she had hers basecoated so asked if she could come paint..while she was painting I basecoated 2 and finished yesterdays Snowman Wreath holder, Ann just left and it's 2:30..she felt better after a few hugs, someone to listen who has been there before..just needed a friend...
Now it's getting late, temperature is dropping, no sense trying to start anything this late sooo will run into town and get groceries, maybe start a spaghetti sauce, I'd like that or tomato mac. for supper..
ohhh just before I sign off right now, remember I was telling you that I used Rose's exzema cream as toothpast? I've been dealing with a sore, kind of exzema patch on my cheek for months/months so last night I thought I'd put cream on it to help heal..of course, was in the dark, my chin and cheek is itchier than old heck, under the chin it's burning sooo before going to town I'm going to go into the medicine cabinet and SEE what I used, goodness knows if it's something that I should have been using..you'd think I'd learn..well, off I go or it will be time for jammies with nothing done..
Did so want to work on the placemats BUT friends come first, especially those in need!!!
Good Afternoon!
Betty, I am so glad Ann was able to come and be with her friend.
Oh gosh Betty, wonder if what you used you've an allergic reaction...Hmmmm Euracin. It's lotion, ther are no perfumes in it, it works wonders. Matter of fact it's the only cream that work on my girls exzema.
Barb, wow have loads of fun with your new machine. Tell Norm, he did a fantastic job on the runner!
Happy Birthday TODD!!! Hope Linda Kay you and he have a wonderful day.
LOL Crissy! Glad you went to the flea Market, sorry it wasn't as grand as you though it might be..
We ended up watching Avatar!! My gosh, i can't believe I haven't seen it until now. I thoroughly enjoyed it. We watched it as a family in our own private theater...DH actually stayed up through the whole thing, but my gosh once past that first half hour it's completely memorizing.....Lit a fire and made a pizza while we watched.
Afterward, Steve went to bed Jake, has seen the movie like 10 times so he didn't stay for the whole movie, wandered off to our room to watch something and fell sound asleep. LOL like father, like son! Sabrina, went off to her room to watch her shows...she's stuck on Criminal minds! The older Kids played poker...I played a few hands, got a bit tired so cashed out, got my 3 bucks back and walked away with my winnings! ROFLOL, 25 cents!!
Today Has been busy with house work, since I didn't get anything done yesterday. Decided to scrub the bathroom down, Had to stop cause of the fumes, but at least it's clean! Did the sock brigade and more laundry! So,The guys are watching football. I should be painting, but will do that in a few...
All my outside stuff is done..
.So guess I'll paint and finish at least the one side of the cabinets.
Well I'll see you later, enjoy the afternoon
Just finished making my brother some curtains for apartment he and his 3 boys are in,long story. But he called at the last minute and asked much cheaper to do this way. Baking an apple pie(not from scratch) and getting kids ready for school and field trips this week. Finished my stocking and some other swap items and will be mailing some stuff tomorrow.
Betty that is so nice you and Ann got to enjoy some crafting time . I am sure she feels better after spending time with a friend.
Avatar very good movie. Graphics are awesome.
Football is on so going to watch some and relax (try).
Have a great evening to all. See you tomorrow.
Hot apple pie and icecream about 6pm come over.
Hey all - sounds like you're all busy, busy, busy!
Gotta tell ya a funny about my making Bread Maker bread - a new recipe I thought I'd try.... called Yorkshire Spice Bread. I didn't have any dried orange peel so I skipped that, and could not find my bread maker flour, so I put in a whole wheat type of flour - thought it would go great with the spices...
anyway, one of the ingredients was fine sugar, so figured I'd use Icing Sugar. As I had only used the Bread Maker once before, I was being very careful about the maker's instructions...... That was great, but then the loaf was dark (I chose light crust) and heavy (I chose 1.5 lb instead of 2). When I tasted it.... YUCK! Apparently baking soda looks very similar to icing sugar..............
Hahaha!!!!! I need to post pictures of my
monkey bread!! Huge FAIL! After dinner, I'll post em!
I should go back to the Bread Maker thread..... oh wait, that's in "another room". Sorry - my bad!!
I've read all... Everyone is so busy with their crafts and quilts...you are all making me exhausted !
We enjoyed Avatar as well... was the last movie as a family. DS called it "Pocahontas with Blue People" which I thought LOL.....
Hugs,
Mary
LOL..waiting to see the pics.
Crossed with you Mary!
Yep, thought about the same...
I gotta say, I was totally at awe with the floral type masses. Wow. Even had the Willow Tree!
Judy - you mean like old lady willow? or Grandma willow?
I saw Avatar (we had it on Movie Night at our church) and I thought the same thing - combination of blue Pocahontas with GI Joe LOL
Maggie, it look wonderful, sitting here with coffee in hand and mouth watering...disasters sure can happen when using bread machine, I did learn to follow directions to a 't' even 1 grain of yeast more than it should have can make the difference...love using mine but think some of that weight comes from too many loaves..
Sounds as though we all spent time with family/friends and doing something productive..was just thinking of organizing my project so tonight even though I know I'm dead tired at night and don't function well I can do a bit and maybe get up earlier in the morning and put in an hour on my projects..can't believe how close to Christmas we're getting..got the wrapping paper, wouldn't hurt to pick up scotch tape and wrap a bit in the evenings!
Watched Avatar on my computer movie channel, show was still in theatres, Jeff told me I wouldn't get the 'awe' unless I went and saw it in 3d..should have...
All I can say is thank goodness it's a workday, need some rest!
Waving to all
Gab when I get to the office..would love to see some of your projects..still can't get over Norm's sewing ability....
I don't own a bread machine. All by hand.
Where is everyone? It's awful quiet around here.
Boy it is quiet around here.
Well I'm back at work. Barb good for Norm! That's awesome!
LOL Susan! That may have been too sweet anyway with the powdered sugar instead of fine, whatever "fine" sugar is, call it a good loss.
Betty not looking at tubes of stuff before you use them, or put them into your mouth, is extremely dangerous girl! Good grief you crack me up!!
I don't own one either and I want to make some white bread fairly soon, if we would quit buying loaves. lol
Well Maggie it looks edible from the picture anyway!
Maggie - yours looks a LOT more edible than mine was - very very Dark, and tasted like baking powder........ blech!
I used to always bake by hand, but the only recipe I had for bread was white bread, and I now only eat "grain bread" cuz it's so much better for you!!! ^_^
Was busy/busy this morning, just when I wanted to put my feet up and close my eyes..lol..
I had better check the tubes of medication..I'm breaking out all over my face, must be something I ate but what I'm not sure as nothing new was in my weekend diet..think I'll go at lunch and get some meds for itching at the salves aren't working.
Crissy, do you have mega work to catch up seeing you had an extra long weekend??? and Maggie, what will occupy your day??
Betty it's probably whatever ointment you put on your face. That's worrisome.
I don't have any extra work, I put an email out that I wasn't going to be at work on Friday so they all waited until today to call me. LOL That keeps me out of trouble!
Well that's better than playing beat the clock trying to catch up...
Went on site and checked AAA for health insurance because my mom said because she has a place there they would cover her more cheaply..NOT, then I called my insurance where I usually get her insurance and they want $290.00 but will not cover her for anything other than accidental because of stroke/bloodcloth and meds she's on..called her to give her this info and she's not happy, said she could have gotten travel insurance 2 years ago for about 785. for the year, I said, mom that's 2 years ago, add everything that has been ongoing in 2 years, go check the cost now..also asked if she understood that if something did go wrong medically that she could lose her house and cottage in a month of being hospitalized, she didn't think I tried everything ...chances something could go wrong is high..told her I could take her across the border no problem for a few days at Christmas but that was only because I could get her back into Canada within the hour if she wasn't feeling the best...her choice now..
Betty - good for you to tell her about the medical issues with border crossing. As you said, it's her choice now. In 2 years, costs Do change.....
Keep hoping when I see you Susan and Joyce post that you'll be telling us you are have jobs to go to..drats, takes them so long to get back to you...
it's 48 here today but each day I mark off the calendar that snow isn't here I'm happy/happy. Still itching, think Debbie could have sent me her itch
No news yet, Betty......
We're supposed to get 10 - 15 cm of snow tonight, and it's +4C here now........ brrrrrrrr
Well you can have it Susan, I need next weekend without snow as I want to get all the lights outside and yard decorations out and plugged in..should have been done this poast weekend but no time to do so.
Well, I would like Bob to put up decorations, but he won't, and I'm too short and too out-of-shape to do it myself.......
Moving us over to here....
