Ahhh..always wonder about paying to go into somewhere just so I can spend my money...would feel better not to pay the entrance fee and just spend same amount on something I like.. guess facilities have to make money re use of facility and the advertising but should be the vendors that pay not buyers..
Best/Worse/What did I learn/chat about our day!Just Gab'n
The entrance fee pays for the cost associated for the rental of the building. The money that you spend at each vendor stays with that vendor. The company putting the market on is out unless they charge at the door. That's why I'm wondering if there's a fee even though the ad doesn't say it, even though the ad is supposed to say....
Guess you'll soon find out!
1/2 hr. to go..it's lovely out, 52 degrees and sunny, just wish it was daylight when I get home, would be lovely to be outside raking..who am I kidding, not likely I'd be raking..still need to recoup from the weekend trip.
Has anyone noticed the post time does not match real time?
Ok parts have been delivered work on the car will begin bright and early tomorrow.
Got everthing to make applesauce cake for in the morning. If I can get just a little more time will do tonight. Have soccer practice and homework and dinner to go. Wish I could take a nap.
Guess so, if I go. lol
Ha! Found it! Admission fee is $2.00 for 12 yrs and up, free under 12yrs and free parking.
That is not so bad. Me and DH went to one in Pa and paid $8.00 to get in and they had thousands of people turn out. Tell me they didn't make any money.
They usually get 10,000 in one weekend. Need to be there bright and early on Saturday! Wonder if Dave's gonna want to go out this weekend. I kinda hope not, I need to do something different for a few weekends.
Crissy-LOL-it happens to me all the time. I won't know what to do (sometimes I have to cheat and call my mom;). I don't want a spoiled kid, but I don't want one that feels neglected either. I just want one that is well adjusted. Yeah right-in this house I don't think that is happening;)LOL
Surprise!
It's me again. I didn't get much done outside today. It was so drizzly and cold I stayed inside after I
leveled off the driveway and around the steps again. I'll make up for it tomorrow. I came in and made
some turkey noodle soup, and hopefully Tubby will try some later. I had to take him to the hospital to
have labs drawn. I'll check with the Dr. tomorrow to get the results.
I've found an old cupboard out in the barn the other week and I'm making an island for the kitchen out
of it. I'm gonna go down and stir up some paint and do the inside. I put Wains coating on the three sides
of it and will paint it an old green color. I cut the top out of MDF board, man that was heavy to move the
sheet to cut. I'm gonna tile it and put wood trim on the edge. I'll take a picture when done. This winter I
will scrub walls and paint and stain some wood work that hasn't gotten done since Tubby added on to the old house. I love doing things and I usually try to do it all myself. I plan on trying to lay the laminate
floor in the good bathroom too. I know measure twice cut once..Ha Ha! Oh, I forgot to tell you I put lockable wheels on the island so I can move it around.
I told Betty once it would be great if we could all meet some place sometime. I can't think of a better
group of friends I would drive to see. Maybe someday! When the weather is good also. Maybe by spring Tubby will be doing well enough to do something, probably gardening.
Okay, I've rambled on long enough. I'll check in later and update Tubby on what everyone is doing.
T&S
Betty - NOW I'm starting to get frustrated...... my DH said to my DD that there were other people who'd applied and they're looking at them, too. NO, my DH is wrong...... i think....
siiiiiiiigh I don't know anymore. It's been a month (1st interview Oct 13th...) and I know they're busy (out of town, etc....at meetings) but geeeeeeze!! :-(
Paid $8.00 at the Hamburg show on Friday, yikes with the numbers who attended they must have made $$$..although, didn't see many coming out with bags or carrying parcels, even craft shows are suffering with the economy being as is...
Thought I'd check in on Joyce and Susan to see if either got more news on the interview and job, you'd almost think it were I looking for employment!
Laura good luck with the cake, you do know you are all making me hungry..as for posting time mine never is my time..right now, as I press send it's 6:00 pm
Dianne, went back at lunch to see the Cuisinart..not refurbished, said it was top of the line, only better one is the commercial on found in restaurants and it was $199.99 not $99.99..not sure how good of a deal it is at that price.
Stacey, all kids end up spoilt..but there is a good spoil and a rotten spoil..got to know where to draw the line
Going to try this rest thing again..lol..go have my bath and take out my hand wax unit, put it on so later I can do my hands, achy, know it's due to the cold and damp weather, maybe a dipping or 2 will work wonders...once that's done, lay on chesterfield and watch t.v.
You would think Susan they could call and give an update, they must know people are just waiting for their call..not nice...
Best of the Day...
OH My gosh!! We did it!
Anthony has been helping out with the sift! Today, I found 30 worth of rebate money. So we went to menards and got 75 more stones and 3 bags of mulch..I only spent $17.00 .Also moved the tree stump to the other side! I also need about 100 more stones.
Yayyyyy. I actually made a presentable looking landscape! I have planted 4 Hostas, an Indian Chief Iris, tomorrow transferring a few lambs ears... So here is what my Yard looks like now!!
OK got to run and get Jake, make dinner, Grilling burgers tonight, maybe a fire in a while.
Hope you had a great day.
(((((((((Shirley)))))))) thank you for the update! Oh, I'd love to meet the 2 of you, but as I'm in the far west, it's not likely. It seems most of my friends on here are Central or Eastern US & Canada...... siiiiiiiiiigh ((((((((Tubby))))))) you deserve warm hugs, too!!!
o my gosh, Judy - you've been a very busy girl!! I love the work you did on this - it's very zen!!
Betty - I just emailed someone in the company (I phoned, but her phone# has been changed, and she said she doesn't have a new ph# to forward it to). It sounds like they've already moved to the new location?!?! She had her "out of office" on, and it said she won't be back until Nov 15th, so........ I guess I'll be "out of the loop" until then?!?!?!?!
I just don't know........!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :-(
Oh Shirley, you are my kind of gal, look at what you are trying to accomplish..the island cupboard sounds like it will be a fun project, especially as you have most of the wood and having a vision is usually the hardest part of any project and you've got that all figured out..it certainly isn't easy cutting the mdf..what saw did you use? hope it was a jigsaw and you aren't trying to lift and cut with the band saw..something I'd do and I know how dangerous it is to do so...
Tubby will be watching you with his tools Shirley..lol
I've done a lot of laminate flooring, almost all the rooms here I've done myself..hardest part is the clicking..best you find another pair of hands..do wish I lived closer because I could help out..
Not so sure though that I'd do laminate again, although one would think it would be easier to keep clean it's not..with furries running in and out it seems I'm always sweeping and washing it.
Thinking next year I'll change it...
Just so pleased you are joining us..
Judy, you have indeed been working hard, lordy hardly a blade of grass is left..great deal on the stones..just think, this summer the hard labor and design will be done and you can plant/plant/plant..lucky you to have Anthony there to help out.
Betty, that Fairgrounds all has to be rented by the people that support the craft show. The parking grounds and the exhibition area. They also pay for people to "maintenance" the area during the show, make sure lights/electric/ food areas....all that works, and take care of problems. I understand all the people needed but like you said, so expensive. The Yultide Show in Dec. is only $5.00 to get in....but I think just the main building...not sure.
Well the 15th is what Monday?? is she the lady you spoke with before who apologized for not getting back to you? drats..nerve racking for sure..
Was it the Yuletide one I was at last year Debbie?
The vendors I'm sure have to pay a pretty penny to display as well..guess it's worth their while.
You'll have to get more information, might mean another trip your side of the border..besides have a box of santa pieces that need to go to good home..lol
No Betty - she was not the one who apologized (that was one of the managers), however I sent the email to three of them. The person who set to "out of office" is the one who gave me the tests. I emailed to her, and the two managers who interviewed me.
I'm hoping the reason the one person's phone is being transferred is because of the move (closer to me). It would have been nice to have me on-board so I could help, however if they're waiting until after the move, it just means that I will always have the job closer to home LOL
yes, the 15th is Monday...... siiiiiigh

Yep, this is Dec. 4th & 5th at the fairgrounds
Also one in Rochester the same weekend!
Holiday Festival of Crafts & Gifts
December 4-5, 2010
Minett Hall-South Entrance
Saturday & Sunday: 10am-6pm
Admission: $3.00
Shirley your island project sounds like alot of fun.Right up my alley. Love to change and find new things to do with old stuff and paint one of my favor things to do I will paint anything. Wishing I lived closer. How did the turkey soup turn out?
Judy I really like your yard. Perfect place to sit and relax.
Susan maybe they are waiting until the move is finished. Fingers still crossed for you.
Betty are you talking about hot wax?
Going to lay down and rest my back.See all in the morning...........
Dave said Nope to the flea market. He doesn't want me doing anything that costs a little money. I'm not happy, I seriously need some girlfriends here, I'm bored of being stagnant.
I'm on the phone with my mom, iye yey yey.
I really like the landscaping you are doing - that is up my alley. I'll wait till spring to try and get some done. I put that red mulch down on the area north of the house and the wind gets so bad sometimes it
always takes the most of it away. I think I'll have to resort to some form of stone. I think maybe I'll look
at river rock. I have to put some wire down below the landscape fabric so my dogs won't want to scratch
a cold area to lay in. Make sure you post a pic. when done.
The craft shows are always fun to go to. I mainly go to get ideas, I figure I can make it alot cheaper then buying it. I love to go to flea markets and garage sales. I have always wanted to go to that one that is like 450 miles or more long and covers about five states. I'd have to rent a U-haul or take our really
big trailer. I think the U-haul would be safer. They have one here in Nebraska that is 150 - 200 miles
long. It's in the western part of the state. I'd try that first. Tubby likes garage sales and auctions. We are dangerous at them. We always come home with way too much. Sometimes we would look like Ma & Pa Kettle coming down the road.
The oldest granddaughter moved to Florida this summer. She plans on going to college there. She lives
by Naples. She doesn't start college till the coming fall so she will be a resident by then so it won't cost
so much.
When my daughter was a baby and fussy my Mom could take her and rock and sing the most off key Bye - O - Bye is all and she would sleep instantly. I tried, but was never good at it. I think the babies she
would sing it to passed out so they didn't have to listen to it.
Okay - nite for now.
ok - who was that post from - Tubby, or Shirley? If Tubby, you're posting more than usual LOL
LOL Shirley, that's hilarious about the garage sale thing. I don't know what Dave's problem is, but if this is the beginning of his mental problem with winter he needs to grow up and face the facts that winter is going to happen and if he's going to be fussy all winter he can be fussy by himself.
You all are a bunch of go getters with that landscaping your talking about I want to landscape my front yard but I have so much room I don't know what to do with it!
Shirley we love you posting here!
Hey Crissy - if you have too much yard, you can send some to me!!!!
Crissyr-
I drew pictures of my sisters back yard and showed her what could be done with a little sweat and backbone. She really liked it, but I think she's waiting for me to come help. She does good it the
front, but the back is so big I think it over whelms her. Maybe some day I can go help. I have some old
iorn bed frames (twin size) I want to put into some of my flower beds when the weeds get cleaned out and the pathways in. So just grab a piece of paper and sit and draw and erase. It'll come to you.
Okay, I'm done gabbing for the night. I will get Tubby ready for bed and then this ol" gal is going to bed.
I will try and check in on you guys tomorrow, but won't make any promises.
Good night to everyone and sleep well and God Bless you all.
Shirley
Hello To All !
Shirley ! Laughing at your story... See Stacey... you just need to sing off key to Jonathan and he'll fall asleep pronto !
So cool that you are making your own kitchen island. I am the "Not Crafty One" and I just marvel over all that everyone does on Betty's Blog ! It's amazing...
Dianne... I'm a spelling freak too ! LOL.... Thanks for the info on grinding the ham... Between you and Betty & Shirley ... I have SO many recipes to try ! Betty - Great idea about collecting them ! "Betty's Blog Recipes".... maybe you could sell the books and the money to charity... Hmmmm Maybe to Kyle's cancer campaign ?!?
Betty - actually work is going pretty good. I had lunch with 3 friends Tues. that I've known between 10-20 years ....they are all in similar business with different companies....and when I left the lunch I realized that I was the happiest one with my company... so I'm feel very fortunate... (Maybe less fortunate after the beating tomorrow morning). I mean meeting...
Yes - Single Mom when DS was born through 10... and my closest relative (MOM) living 300 miles away... had to be resourceful.....but I carry a lot of guilt as well. Do we all as Moms for something or another?
Betty bless you ... your halo is shiny as ever... So are you concerned that DMom will want to spend more than 2 weeks? I sure hope you don't cancel any plans with the Grandsons to go... Would you fly? Maybe an option to shorten the time / aggravation..
Hugs Judy - you've accomplished so much! Is the fire pit to the left of the pic ? How is Lupe and Baby ?
Debbie - Don't feel bad... Sounds like Mike is taking advantage a bit. I mean if these kids would realize what it takes to run a household... they would maybe help out a bit... I sometimes truly believe DSD2 leaves messes because she knows how much it bothers me ....
Deb & Susan... NO vodka or wacky weed.... but here is #2 with the Hibiscus Festival in the backyard. Taken with my phone....
This is "The One" I've been waiting to bloom all YEAR... was dark by the time I was home from work to take this... but wanted to send a flower to all my friends... especially those in the northern realm.... We are expecting 80 degree weather tomorrow...
Hugs to all,
Mary
Wow Mary - beautiful bloom!!
Hello everyone! dad keeps me so busy, but I do try to at least read! Judy, love the landscape! Nice job! And oh m y, look at all the recipes!
Shirley, so nice to see you posting! Can't wait to see the finished island!
Night everyone!
Sleep tight!
Just popping in for a quick hello to the night crew....
Mary that is a beautiful picture! Doesn't even look like a "phone" shot....my phone takes horrible pictures.
I had a hectic day, no nap today....and am off and running to Rochester in the morning.
And of all things, I forgot DH was off for the rest of the week!! Working on the car, some issues around the house....and possibly a "side trip" to take Shane to a college to visit.
And Saturday is Shannons 20th birthday....can't believe it. It is amazing to me, she wasn't supposed to see her 5th birthday. With all the "bad" I do take time and really appreciate and be thankful for the miracles.
Off to bed!
Sweet dreams,
Debbie
(((Hugs))) Susan and LK... I do keep checking back for the Night Shift... however I do have a mandatory beating in the morning...so may have to turn in soon...
(did I say Beating? I meant... Meeting!)
Hugs,
Mary
I do have a mandatory beating in the morning...so may have to turn in soon...
(did I say Beating? I meant... Meeting!)
Hugs,
Mary
LOL Thanks for the hugs, Mary - much appreciated. It's a stat holiday tomorrow, so I know I won't be hearing anything then, and likely not until Monday...........
Applesauce cake in the oven and plenty of coffee come over to all.
Goodmorning. Working on the car today will be in and out.
Good Morning-
It's just a little dark yet to go out and start working, so will jot a few lines. I think this could get habit forming.
Mary- that is a beautiful bloom. I don't have that color. Is the size of the bloom the regular or is it
bigger then that? If you have a few seeds to spare I'd love to get a few, I'd send the SAE to you if
possible.
The applesauce cake sounds good - I'll take a piece with my coffee.
I always thought it would be fun to visit NY sometime. Maybe when I retire.Ha Ha! I use to go to Canada to fish all the time. My ex & couple of guys had a cabin up by Red Lake, ONT. That is beautivul country. I miss going. The two guys still own it, but Tubby isn't a big fisherman. I'd like to go see friends again someday.
Well, it is really frosty outside. I better take a towel to put on seat of the 4 wheeler or my back side could get awful cold. They say it's a last nice day for awhile. I better work like crazy then.
Okay since nobody showed up with cake I'll have a piece of PB&J bread. I'll pretend it's cake. It'll stick to my hips either way. Have a good day everyone and chat with you all later.
Shirley
Shirley cake is done and sooooo good. Even the kids like it. Stay warm and come and chat all you like. It is habit forming stopping by to see what all are doing. Enjoy your day .
glad you both find it habit forming, lol..
We are all in our own way remembering family/friends who have fought for our freedom..
