Best/Worse/What did I learn/chat about our day!Just Gab'n

Lyndonville, NY

Morning ladies,

Betty (and others) instead of making the applesauce cake in a pan....why don't you get the larger muffin tins, and put it in that. Then you can freeze it easier /serving sizes? Just an idea.

Love the cuisinarts I see on tv. Don't have one but have wanted to get them for my daughters for Christmas since they married, but they are SO expensive. Over $200 here.

After two days of "four hour afternoon naps" and going to bed about 10:30....and sleeping all night, I still feel run over. I am really thinking this is a virus of sorts. Feel fine except the aches all over and so tired. DD is still not feeling well either, but she has it in throat/ears. Antibiotics are not touching it...so I am sure hers is viral.

Mike left this morning at 4:30 for his "out of town" work. "Might" be back Saturday...and leaving again Monday. I will not miss him. Ohhh so bad to say, but he really needs to go home to his mommy...but it is a bad situation there. My patience is running very very thin with this boy.

Ok, DD is down here and needs "something soft" so going to whip up pancakes i think.

Hey there -

It's fairly early here. I need to go get the bolt for the post on the steps before my help gets here. Tubby
just woke up again. It is sort of overcast here today, but at least it's nont blowing 90 miles an hr. Maybe I can get more done outside today.
I've been reading about your applesauce cake, and I'm gonna give you a recipe for one of the best cakes around. It takes fresh apples or frozen ones and is so moist and great with a little whipped topping
or ice cream.

The Great Cake

1: 2 c. sugar 2 eggs, beaten
1 1/2 c. oil juice of half a lemon (I just use Real Lemon juice)
2 tsp. vanilla
2: Add: (this will be thick)
3 c. flour
1 1/4 tsp. soda
1 tsp. salt
3: Fold in 3 c. chopped apples
1 c. chopped nuts
Bake in greased & floured 9 x 13 pan at 325 degrees for 1 1/2 hrs.

Topping:
1 c. brown sugar 1/4 c. milk
1 stick ole or margarine 2 tsp. vanilla
Mix in pan and boil 2 1/2 minutes. Pour over hot cake. Let stand overnight or till fully cooled.

Hope someone tries this and likes it, or I'll make it if you all come. The coffee will be on. I love
to cook and bake. Tubby was never a big eater so things lasted a long time. At least he would
always eat leftovers.
Well, I better get going now. Will check in this evening. You all have a good day and love and prayers
to you all.

Not sure Dianne why the cuisinart's are so inexpensive at the Liquidation Nation, asked if they were refurbished and he said 'no' but then I don't know why the Ott-Lite that is $129.99 was on for $14.99 (bought them out) lol might take a run there after work tonight and check it out..

Do you have a model # so I can compare..know they had them in different colors, light green/red/black don't remember seeing a white, perhaps that's why, nobody wants those bright colors..

Funny your DH should say that about the ham, didn't think they would BUT I can ask...no other Foodland debone turkey and allow you to bring your own dressing to be added and they do..

I have an old grinder sitting on the shelf of the french cafe off my kitchen, all attachments as well but lordy it's old and rusted, won't take a chance of using it and getting ill.

Joyce, perfect weather..smart lady, keeping busy/busy so that your mind will be fresh when going for the interview..be sure to drop in and let us know how you made out..again, we're all crossing everything we have to cross and adding a prayer for good measure.

Debbie, that's a fabulous idea, I could add one in my t.v. dinners and not only would I have a meal but I'd have desert as well..you certainly are on the ball even though you are dead tired..me thinks you are coming down with something..hope I get if after all the hugs, could do with a few days at home..naw...maybe not.. I'm sure that Mike is finding it difficult as well, let's hope he does well with the job and can get a room or apartment for himself..

Victoria Harbour, ON

Oh Shirley, good morning sweetie, we'll encourage you to drop in more often, always brings a smile to our faces and this morning an even bigger one, a recipe..think I'll encourage us to all give a few recipe's and I'll make us a cookbook and ship it off to all of you..wouldn't that be fun

Going to print this recipe off and try it as well

Hugs to both of you, glad temps are co-operating so you can get the last items on your 'to do' list done..

Lyndonville, NY

Betty, I feel bad saying that about Mike. But I dont have much use for a boy/man who spends any time he has off laying in bed watching tv or playing video games...and eating. He has gained probably 30lbs since here. Hides junk food in his room, eats full meals here...then goes for a ride and gets junk/burger king/mcdonalds....and his car is just full of wrappers. His bad habits are wearing off on Shannon.

Victoria Harbour, ON

You'll have to have a talk with him Debbie if he's to stay with you, if he's $$$ to waste in such a fashion then he should help out for his keep..not my idea of being productive, perhaps that's some of the reason he doesn't do well at home..always 3 sides to a story, his, theirs and then the truth!

Tubby this one's for you (all others of course)

Dear God: Is it on purpose our names are the same, only reversed?

Dear God: Why do humans smell the flowers, but seldom, if ever, smell one another?

Dear God: When we get to heaven, can we sit on your couch? Or is it still the same old story?

Dear God: Why are there cars named after the jaguar, the cougar, the mustang, the colt, the stingray, and the rabbit, but not ONE named for a Dog? How often do you see a cougar riding around? We do love a nice ride! Would it be so hard to rename the 'Chrysler Eagle' the 'Chrysler Beagle'?

Dear God: If a Dog barks his head off in the forest and no human hears him, is he still a bad Dog?

Dear God: We Dogs can understand human verbal instructions, hand signals, whistles, horns, clickers, beepers, scent ID's, electromagnetic energy fields, and frisbee flight paths. What do humans understand?

Dear God: More meatballs, less spaghetti, please.

Dear God: Are there mailmen in Heaven? If there are, will I have to apologize?

Dear God: Let me give you a list of just some of the things I must remember to be a good Dog.
1. I will not eat the cats' food before they eat it or after they throw it up.
2. I will not roll on dead seagulls, fish, crabs, etc., just because I like the way they smell.
3. The Litter Box is not a cookie jar.
4. The sofa is not a 'face towel'.
5. The garbage collector is not stealing our stuff.
6. I will not play tug-of-war with Dad's underwear when he's on the toilet.
7. Sticking my nose into someone's crotch is an unacceptable way of saying 'hello'.
8. I don't need to suddenly stand straight up when I'm under the coffee table
9. I must shake the rainwater out of my fur before entering the house - not after.
10. I will not come in from outside and immediately drag my butt across the capet.
11. I will not sit in the middle of the living room and lick my crotch.
12. The cat is not a 'squeaky toy' so when I play with him and he makes that noise, it's usually not a good thing.

P.S. Dear God: When I get to Heaven may I have my testicles back?

Lyndonville, NY

ROFLMBO...oh Bessie....that was a good one!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Bessie does know good ones, some better than can't be told here..lol

How's the headache?

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Shirley-THANK you so much for posting!!

LOL Crissy-easier said than done. I think that when he gets older I will be able to deal with the whining over a toy better than the crying right now and I don't know what it is for; when it goes on off and on for hrs with only a couple of 20 min reprieves then that is when I am ready to pull my hair out. Then I look at the diaper and get food if he doesn't want to be held.

Very rarely he cries I think because he is lonely. I will go in and pick him up, he will lay his head on my shoulder and go right back to sleep. With his digestion issues, sometimes he has a tummy ache and wants to lay on my chest-I think the heat from my body helps him to digest his food. I truly do think that once we get this whole formula thing figured out then we will be much better:) I am trying to figure out when his eyes will change too.

Mary-that was kinda what my mom would do while she was here. That way I could start and finish cleaning like the floors or doing something without being interrupted part way through....it helped a lot to have a little help...

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Good morning, everyone! I lost you for a couple of days, but have tried to catch up......
((((((((Shirley & Tubby!!!!)))))))) Sooooooo glad to see you posting Shirley - you can ramble, you can "talk off-topic", you can do anything you like as long as we hear from you!!!! We've been missing you, and your news about your darling Tubby! Glad you're getting help winterizing your house.

Judy - congrats on the new little one! Hope you hear about the job soon.... don't they just Love to keep you 'hanging-on" though?

Betty - lovely quilt to snuggle under ^_^ LOL so funny about the touque - so many people aren't familiar with our wool pull-on winter that folds up at the bottom. I always had one growing up, and mine had a pom pom on it. It was also 4 ft long LOL All the better for playing "pom pom pull-away" when skating! I would wrap the length around my neck like a long scarf.

Stacey - you're getting good advice here - just let him wake for his feedings, and don't stress - babies Really Do react to your stress. I think putting a radio in his room (playing very quietly of course) would help.

That ham loaf sounds good - don't think I'd ever had it before, though.

Sorry if I missed anyone - I lost this thread, and am trying to keep up.

Love to ALL of you ♫♪
Here's a great link to a beautiful singer - you'll be very surprised!

Stacey, I'm sure it's more than difficult..know we are here to offer support even though sometimes it doesn't seem as though we are..hardest I think is the first few months and with Jonathan premature am sure that adds to it...hugs coming your way!!!

Got to get out and shine that crown again..got the call a few minutes ago that I was DREADING...

You got it, was mom, wanting to know if I was still bringing her to Florida at Christmas, seems Jim can't get off work, the others have plans and she said I all but promised I WOULD..

We talked a bit and I told her she'd best just leave the place and not worry about monthly payments anymore, but, she went on that there is new t.v., good towels, some Christmas treasures..told her when all was said and done if she just walked away, wouldn't get any $$$ for it anyway, consier the $550. a month she pays for the park, total of $6,600. for the year x 2 years she's not used it, could she not purchase the best t.v. and redo a washroom??? DOES not make sense, shaking my head here..our reply, BUT I WANT TO GO ONE MORE TIME...

Taking deep breath..

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

You have a beautiful crown, Miss Betty!! It suits you, too!!
Do you think you could put your DM in the corner? She needs some time-out LOL

Are you home today, or does she call you at work?

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Shirley and Tubby thank you so much for posting!!! I think about you two every day and wonder how things are going up there. What a nice person his old boss is! I am so glad he's coming over and helping you with all of that stuff, there's no way I'd be able to do it. Sounds like Old Man Winter needs to wait awhile before visiting, I hope he does.

LOL Betty I sound that way don't I? I'm all talk, if one showed up I'd seriously panic and all that stuff I said would go right out the window.
You can get a little Cuisinart, mine's smaller than this one
http://www.cuisinart.com/products/food_processors/dlc-4chb.html

Victoria Harbour, ON

Did I ever enjoy listening to the 3 sing..thanks for sharring Susan..what angelic voices..

Victoria Harbour, ON

Calls me at work..know that if I go with her, it would mean not only a lot of cleaning as no one has been there for well over 2 years, then the packing up and her being very upset about leaving it..will call her tonight and ask her to listen to what I have to say

" I will take you south this Christmas, there must be somewhere that you've not been and would like to see, we could go sightseeing etc. and enjoy ourselves..stop payment on the place in Florida today, set that $$$ aside and purchase items you'd think you'll miss and go enjoy 2 weeks without the hurt of leaving it..."

Do I think she'll listen, nada...

Crissy that's a cute cuisineart..tomorrow Suzanne is in Toronto and I'll have my lunch all on my own so will go have a look at the one they have for $99.99..

Verona, ON

Betty my Cuisinart is over 25 years old but still works like a charm. It is Cuisinart DLC - 7 Super Pro. I have only had to replace 1 part and that was after 22 years - the handle came off of the bowl. Local hardware store got me the part with no problems. There are smaller ones and I know they are hardy workers too.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

So, how long has she stayed there, in the past? It sounds like an apartment?!?!
I think I'm a little out-of-the-loop on this one..........

Victoria Harbour, ON

Interested to see the one I looked at over the weekend, had no interest in it then so didn't pay much attention..lol..think all who know me know I'm a 'gadget person' so might be something I just have to have...NOT!

Lyndonville, NY

Betty, what town is your mothers place in down there?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Clearwater...
The way Christmas falls I could leave late Christmas day or I could leave before Christmas and have my Christmas with the kids the weekend before..we'll see how it all plays out...

Here I go again..

Nope, won't continue to whyne..nope, smilling here, all's well in Bessie's world..lol

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

LOL Stacey, like I said when we crossed, leave me like I am and I can talk talk talk talk, but give me a baby and watch me panic and forget all that I have said! Funny how that works!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Betty is that a vacation condo in FL, I don't remember.

Victoria Harbour, ON

you and I both Crissy..Crissy did you get your vehicles all repaired?
guess that was your Christmas gift and birthday gift $$$ all rolled into one..lol so costly to have them repaired!

I get daily e-mail from Joel Olsteen Ministries..today after my complaining got and read it...back to my positive thinking...

Thought I'd share...

Take Off the Limits

Did you know you can actually limit your life by dwelling on the wrong things? So often, wrong thinking keeps people stuck right where they are. If you think you’ll never accomplish your dreams, then your life will follow your thoughts. If you think you don’t have the talent, the connections or the funds, then you are limiting yourself. We have to remember that God’s promises are forever settled in heaven. His Word stands true throughout all eternity!
Don’t limit what God can do in your life by focusing only on what you see in the natural realm. You have to realize that you serve a supernatural God, and just because you don’t see a way doesn’t mean that God doesn’t have a way. God can bring one opportunity across your path that will thrust you to a whole new level. He has explosive blessings in store that can blast you out of where you are and into a place of abundance. If you’ll shift your focus from this earthly realm and start looking at God’s supernatural realm, you’ll see His unlimited possibilities for your future. Take the limits off by setting your thoughts on what He can do in your life today!

A PRAYER FOR TODAY
Father in heaven, today I lift my eyes to You. You alone are the source of my strength, peace and provision. I choose to delight myself in You knowing that You will give me the desires of my heart. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

No, it's in a trailer park, once was gorgeous but you can't have a place and only use it 2 weeks out of the year and leave it to the elements..

Park hasn't been doing much either to maintain because they are hoping to sell the land for condo's..not on the water, not my choice but she bought it when my grandfather was living so he could live there all winter, which he did for many years, it was located so that he could walk to 3 different store complexes and wouldn't need a car..

Been about 12 years since he's passed on, I've gone almost every year at Christmas except for the past 2 when mom had her stroke..it's about 10 minute drive to Clearwater Beach and 5 minutes or so to the causeway beach crossing over to Tampa..

Glenview, IL

Good Afternoon!!
Whew, making up for lost time out in the yard!! Today is it, whatever does not get done will wait till spring...
It's another gorgeous day. I cannot bring myself to be in doors, so working diligently. OH Dianne, would love for you to come help me sift!!
It would be lots of fun...LOL yelp, now I've got Come Sift (Sail) with me stuck in my head, lol at least it a fun tune!

Shirley and Tubby! Hello and big armwraps to you. So glad you are doing well and getting things done. Very nice of Tubby's boss to come help with repairs! Yep, i am glad to see you post anytime about any subject. Sure hope the old man winter waits for a few more days!

Betty, Thanks for the funny read and Prayer this morning...Hows your day at work going?

Crissy, Meant to say, Glad the buzzing has stopped. Hows your day?

Debbie, i hope the headache is gone.

Waiving Hi to Bev and Barb...

Barb where are you??

Yesterday was so crazy. I worked on a little of everything, lol minus the indoor stuff. But i did get alot of work done.
Tried to hand quilt my block, but just poked and pricked myself over and over, then after the third attempt, I gave myself a thread burn! Finally decided, no time to learn that...So will whip the quilting part on machine and get it on it's way.

OK got to rummage for something to eat. Get Breenie back to school. After, I am running to Menards for some more stone! I hope it's cheeper this time of year!

So i hope you all enjoy your days.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Oh wow!! Yea I'd say not enough usage, in the long run she'd be saving a lot of money if she just rented a vacation condo for a week or two.

Yea everything is fixed for now, but my car is wireless and keyless and it's not connecting to the wireless keys very well, thought it was just the remote going dead so I switched and I'm having the same problem with that one, so it's the car. Wonder how much that will cost....

SSOOOO the Memphis Flea Market is coming to Little Rock this weekend, I wanna go!! Maybe I can con Dave somehow. OOOHHH this is the weekend he's supposed to leave for a week to go hunting, he hasn't mentioned it and I don't see any gathering of hunting articles, bet he doesn't go.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

no, you're right - you can't "abandon" a place and expect it to stay well.....

Victoria Harbour, ON

Don't tell me he's changed his mind again Crissy, his friends must be fed up with not being able to count him on following through on any of his outings..drats he changes his mind more than we women do..

That's the thing with keyless, when they don't work it's mega dollars to repair; think I'll keep to the starting my car by ignition key and same with locking..you almost have to do that with no name cars right? lol

Judy whatever will you do with yourself when you are housebound this winter..no yard to play in, no sand to sift, now that's when you learn to hand quilt

Yikes, had spaghetti and milk for lunch, one isn't agreeing with me..tummy is churning

Victoria Harbour, ON

Still no news Susan, I'm more anxious I think than you are!!! Call them and tell them your friend Betty wants to know what date you start.....

Crissy, what is Memphis Flea Market????

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

LOL Betty, he is worse than a woman, it's a good thing they don't communicate like that. They'll talk the night before and it will be Greg come pick me up or it won't be, Greg's going regardless so it doesn't matter to him if Dave goes or not. They don't call each other when someone changes their mind, unless it's that very minute.

The way I've learned to handle people is I make up my mind if I want to go or not and don't tell anyone. The day before I'll call whoever I think I would enjoy being with, say "Hey I'm going here at this time, you wanna go?" They say "Yea! Come get me" and I'll be there at that time to get them, or they come to my house at that time and pick me up. If they say no, I'm going anyway so I don't really care. I don't give people 20 options, they are or they aren't right at that minute, if they change their mind after I've left too bad, they've missed the bus.

Like this Memphis Flea Market thing, I'll bring it up to Dave tonight unless he calls me this afternoon, and if he wants to go great, if not I'll call Greg's wife Anita, oh wait, no I won't, she's going with Greg. Never mind... who will I ask to go????? Alicia moved to Tulsa, Christy might but has absolutely no money and may not want to go because of that..lets see here....

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Here Betty

http://www.memphisfleamarket.com/index2.html

Victoria Harbour, ON

Oh Crissy you just have to go, looks very interesting..wish I was closer you wouldn't have to ask Dave to go and keep you company..

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

LOL Wish you were closer too Betty!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Love going to those kind of shows, we have Kempenfest which is outdoors, then Markham Craft Show and One of A Kind which are indoors..looking forward to both..

Crochet'ing these blocks are putting me to sleep, lol..have to give that up and do something more challenging so I can stay awake

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Me too!! I just looked it up and there are two restaurants that were on Man Vs. Food, one is The Mean Pig in Cabot, the other is Cotham's Mercantile for Hubcap Burgers. Maybe if I offer one of those.... hhmmmmm

Victoria Harbour, ON

I'm sure someone will gladly go with you. How far from where you live? A lot of our shows charge a fee, i.e. $8.00 entrance fee, do yours?

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Its an hour. I have no idea, it doesn't say anything about it on the ads. Arkansans won't pay it so probably not. lol

Victoria Harbour, ON

Here we pay regardless of where you are from, only discount is for seniors.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

No, that's not what I meant. They don't give discounts or free entrance to people from Arkansas, that's illegal. If they do charge at the door Arkansans won't show up, or will turn around and leave, they won't pay the fee and the flea market won't get any business.
