Miss B. Havin Brugmansia

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

You all have all been busy. I'm here. Even got a beautiful bloom to show. It is a moon vine, My first one. It is beautiful. I saw the bud yesterday and last night, full moon, it bloomed. So pretty and it smells great too. See I even got the moon in the picture.
I haven't dug anythig yt but will start soon. I have lots of buds forming it's going to be great to see them all sort of at the same time. Brought my plumerias in but they do not like it. The bottom leaves are yellowing and even falling off. First year I had any of these in the house. Just got them this spring and ones in big pot really grew!!!
Elizabeth I saw where You started out in size 10 pants and dropped down to 7 after moving all those Brugs. You may ave to get some suspenders to hold them up, I guess they still make them.☺

Debra, you have been more busy than me, my basement is a mess right now also, I have my work cut out for me this evening, I will have it all straightened out by Sunday

Charlene, it's great too see you, I just went & bought me some new jeans, it gave me a good reason, too get some new clothes, now my Family know's what too get me for Christmas, Charlene I love too plant, plants, but I don't want the look of a farmer, did you see my post where they moved the mess in front of my house, it's so nice too look out there & not see it
I like your moonflower, I grew them last year, they climbed all over my favorite tree, they are Fragrant, oh the Guy over the job out front told me I could plant my plants back where I had them, when they were done with the street & curbs, I told him
not a chance, I had some expensive evergreens out there, I'll just keep them in pots, too use on my porch as Christmas
trees, too decorate them

Elizabeth

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

I guess I didn't. Where do you have them posted??? Here???
If you plan on moving you don't want to plant and dig them back up.
Charleen

Hamilton, OH

Charlene
it's just too much trouble, so I am not planting anything there, I have too take new photo's of the street
so you can see the difference, I also have too down load photo's of the Big Brugs dug up I will do that in a little while

Elizabeth

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

Elizabeth, I wouldn't plant anything either. I know you feel better with it looking better. I have a tree I have to top and I won't be cofortable tl I get it. It's getting too big. But I'll do it as long as I can. Dee, my banana still standing hasn't shot out any things but I guess it is still alive. Debra got the little ziner in a pot. Dee, should I put the coffecups in a pot or just let them dry???
Charleen

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

All my EEs are in pots and they are sending up shoots, Charleen. I love to watch them grow in winter.

Elizabeth, why are you losing inches?? Now I am worried.

I know I said I was done, but I still have all the dahalia and lantanas to dig up LOL

I have that illustiruos chartreus one too, Dee, Gosh I can't spell. I love moon vines. Mine have been blooming everywhere and the seed pods are huge. Charleen your little orange mgs have given me seed podd, too..I also remembered Queen Emma is still in the ground, so I hafta get her out this weekend. She was a gift from a nice DG'r so can't let her get too cold!

Ladoga, IN(Zone 6a)

Elizabeth, I'm glad that you got your brugs all in.I hope all is well with you..with the weight loss and all.Hope its just from all that good hard work.Mystery succulents..wow...you know I like good mysteries...lol
Debra, I think all of us have a messy basement right now. I moved some of the flowering annuals down a couple days ago...lantana, etc. My big dragon wing begonias are going to the basement as soon as I get some cuttings taken.Today, I took some brug cuttings to share...almost done, then I will make a list of the ones available.
Charleen, love your moonflower vine. I grew them a couple years, and loved watching them open.Like Debra, I have all my EE's potted up this year...well all but the solid green.Got tired of losing them to rot, over the winter.Debra, sent me a blood banana pup, and it isn't putting out any new leaves yet either. It probably takes them a while to get over the shock of being wacked away from their momma. As long as they have decent roots, I think they will bounce back.
Tiff, here's a pic of a couple of the clusters of flowerbuds on the Jade.Poor thing, I really neglected it this year, as I did lots of plants while I was concentrating on the brugs. When I got ready to move it in, it had several, bug eaten leaves. I removed most(they'll grow back), sprayed and repotted, at the last minute. But, it seems that leaving it out to the last minute may be why she is gonna bloom.I was reading about how to get one to bloom (wanted to know what was different this year), and it said to leave them out till right before frost, as they like cool nights and lots of light.Guess when I brought it into the brightly lit plant room, that it was happy. It also said that it takes a long time for the flower buds to open up.

Elizabeth, that boy is a doll.Look at the sparkle in his eyes! Great that he is learning sign language. My middle daughters oldest daughter was born deaf, and she was taught sign language as a toddler, also. She is 15 now and is doing great in school. When she was little, it was so cute when she got mad at her mom...There was no keeping up with her signing..lol
It sure does look better out front of your home now.Your evergreens are awesome, too.Your brugs did get huge, girl! Love the shape of the leaves on your fig tree, that are showing in your brug pic.Even if they never put out a fig, they are beautiful plants.
Dee

Elizabeth

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Your boy is just beautiful. I bet you have alot of fun. I miss little children.
Elizabeth you sound like me. I drop down two sizes every summer and then go up a size in winter. It never changes, and have been doing that for over 30 years. Everyone asks me if I am on a diet. I eat like a horse and they all see me eat. I just go and go in the summer. I am still up, just finished cleaning up some more messes I made.
Your street front looks really different now. I bet you are glad.

Big Sandy, TX(Zone 8a)

Dee, I would always trade for Hostas.

Hamilton, OH

Debra
I have been like that all my life, Yes I really like the street better, in the next few weeks it will be a mess again, they are taking up all the asphalt & replacing it & new curbs, I think they'll be working on it through December, Thank you for the nice comment on my Boy, he is the youngest of 8 Grands

Going to do a lasagna garden. those brugs have lots of grass around the roots now. Hope they help them go to the winter without freezing.
Looking good now, Elizabeth.

Elizabeth, I have been doing some snooping to see if I can help you figure out what you plant is.( Very cool, for sure) I found something, that might be it, but I'm not sure.Do a google search on Senecio jacobsenii (weeping jade).
My middle daughter and her family were here visiting all day. I didn't get a durn thing done but cook and gab...but it was fun. They just left to go to my youngest daughters house to spend the night and visit...Then both families will be here in time for a big breakfast.Maybe I will get my brug cuttings finished up tomorrow evening. If you aren't too busy, I would be very happy to have the plants this week. I'll get my addy to you in a d-mail.
Ken, believe me when I tell you that you have lots more hostas than I have now..lol..., but thanks for the offer! When we moved, I only brought a couple eyes of my two favorites.I was already thinking about our trade last fall.It was a great one!
I always lose weight in the summer, too girls, but not nearly enough.lol
Charleen, you are turning that yard of yours into a tropical oasis. You will have so many worms in your wonderful beds, that you will draw more birds, and they might even drop you a few more exotic seeds..lol
Oh, I was reading over last nights posts to get caught up, and I made a booboo up there. It was my middle daughter's best friend whose oldest daughter was born deaf....I left out some words, and it sounded like it was my grand-daughter.Just wanted to straighten that out.

James, that bloom is awesome! Elizabeth, good morning, and your blooms are gorgeous too. I really like seeing your nite blooming cerus a lot. Thank You.

Ladoga, IN(Zone 6a)

Mornin' everyone. I wasn't on at all yesterday.Spent 3 1/2 hrs in the dr.'s office all because they are starting a new system.Everyone had a new laptop and took forever getting their info in..By the time we got back, it was time to go straight to my daughter's house to be there when the kids got off the bus.Didn't even have time to stop by the house and let the dogs out. Thanks goodness they are well trained...spoiled rotten, but well trained..lol By the time we got home, I was plum tuckered out.DH even cooked supper.I just kicked back after supper and watched tv, and faded in and out of naps..lol
Beautiful blooms everyone. Love that Pink Perfecktion, James! Mine hasn't bloomed for me yet.Maybe next year.Elizabeth, that night blooming cerus sure is a looker. Everytime you post a pic of it, I just just think "EXOTIC". It's awesome, and I would love to have a start, if I'm not to late.Debra, I really enjoy seeing pics of your basement greenhouse. Everytime, I look, I notice something new. I know you love it down there!

well i guess i'm going to lose a good portion,or maybe all of my sewing room for the winter.
oh ,well.i hope for the best.and maybe i can come up with an idea for my porch.with plastic and a heater.
any ideas any one?
retta

Hamilton, OH

Dee, you poor Girl, it is different at the Dr's office now, it does take like forever, I haven't even gotten my flu shot yet, that's next week, I spent about 2 hours yesterday
potting up the Brugs, I had dug up, I had them in tubs of water, some are so wilted they look sad, I never thought a basement GH would work, 5yrs ago, much too my amazement it has worked great, I should have a rooted Night Blooming Cerus, you can have, I should have read this before your Box went out, I'll start you a new one too send it out next Monday, in the mean time, let me know if there's something else that you want

Retta
if you can find 6 mil plastic, you could try that, about the heater, I recommend an Eden Pure, you can get it on line, it has a box shaped outer frame, it doesn't get hot
but, the heater can heat a lot of space, you don't have too worry about it catching fire, even Children can touch it, without getting Burned, also safe around pets
I have one, it cost $350.00 that seems high until you look at your electric bill, it doesn't cost that much too run it, I have too buy another one, my DD took mine & that's O.K. her room is so cold in the winter, so it's fine for her too use it, I just need another one for my plants, I have an enclosed back porch, it's like a walk in freezer in the winter, it has just storm windows in there right now, I am replacing those with replacements windows, & insulation, so I can keep a couple nice Brugs growing

Elizabeth
