I am so glad that you're staying, if you have a heater like that you should have a plant room, it's so nice too see winter Blooms, on this Forum we're more like Family
also there is always one of us too answer your questions, all of us Love plants, it's always great too share our knowledge, when you get your plantroom ready I would love too see a photo of it, I bet it will be a nice one

Elizabeth, that is so nice of you to offer another box, but why don't we just wait until we do another swap. I know you are very busy right now, getting the basement straightened around. We are all very lucky that we have our winter gardening spaces, aren't we.Other wise we would be grumpy, stir crazy old ladies thru the winter..lol
Welcome Retta. You will like it here.Like Elizabeth said we are like family. If you need more brug cuttings, I have extras that I can send ya for postage. Just send me a d-mail. I have most of my cuttings taken. Now I just need to lable them individually (they are labled in bundles, in buckets right now)and make a list of what I have to share. I'm going to try to get it done this week end. By the way, my sewing machine cabinet is set up in my plant room, also.

Dee, My tuberose is blooming. Got you a picture too. Yep, It has a smell I wouldn't want to be in a locked room with, but it is nice out there on the porch. I like it.
Hey!!! You all, everyone else.

Charleen, looking good! I love the smell of them.I really need to go read up on them. For now, I left mine in the pot and just set the whole thing in the basement to go dormant for the winter. Are they hardy for you? I am defintely going to have to divide mine, before they start growing, next year. I remember reading that they don't like being crowded.
Dee

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

Dee, I have no idea if they are hardy or not. Too late to put them in ground now, If they make it through the winter remind me next spring and I'll plant some in the ground, we will experiment. o.k.? I got a bog going with La. Iris in it and we are testing it to see if it makes it. Also got some in the ground. I'll take pictures. Love to try these things out.

Winston Salem, NC(Zone 7a)

I think Tuberose is one of the most glorious scents I've ever inhaled!! I know they must be growing in heaven!!
I've never grown any, but do get a bunch each year from the farmers market for cut flowers around my house.
So, Dee...you just grow them in pots?

Sheri

Ladoga, IN(Zone 6a)

Yes, Sheri, I only grow them in pots.I put them in the ground last year, and didn't get a bloom. This year I only had 2 bloom stalks, but you could smell them clear across the yard.
Dee

Hamilton, OH

I still have no clue what a tuberrosa is LOL
Elizabeth please save a cutting of your cerus for me, just a tiny piece will do, I seem to be good at rooting small pieces for some reason.
Retta how are you doing with brugs? Do you need more? I have tons..
Sheri, how are yours doing?

Flamenco is blooming right now next to me in the corner. She touches the ceiling here and I just know I am going to have to whack her down. *sniff*
Dee, girl you have got to be a real steadfast woman to be so patient with doctors. I have none at all for them. I think they are all whacko. ( Just my opinion)
I love cats. Lets see a pic of one in a bag...

I was outside yesterday after work and took a few pictures of the yard while I was gathering seeds.. Duke was right there with me..Poor old guy, his chest and under arms are covered with huge tumors, the doc says he can't get them out of his muscle tissue, soon they will grow up to his neck and eventually choke him, I love him so much, his arthritus, allergys, heart problems and deafness still doesn't keep him from following me around. He turns 16 on Christmas day. I am keeping him going with medicine, and keep thick layers of newpapers on the basement floor tile for him , since I can't expect him to hold it all day. he always seems to make it down the stairs, but has a hard time coming back up. He likes the basement since the plans are all around , he feels like he is outside I think.

Debra,
that is just so weird to me how some of these Brugs change colors. So far the ones I have in water look happy and the 3 NOID's seem happy in their pot also.

Your mention of your good ole boy Duke reminds me so much of my Elvis. He is 14 and also has those fatty lipoma tumors all over. the biggest one is on his chest right between his front legs (I call it his "poodle boob"). I am seeing a big change in him these past 6 months. His cataracts have finally rendered him functionally blind. as long as I don't rearrange anything in the house, though, he knows his way around very well. (great excuse not to clean!) The vaccuum sends everyonerunning for cover in the other end of the house.

Sheri.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

I wonder why they have to get them. Dukes eyes are all foggy too, DR says he can still see a bit, so that is good. It is funny to watch him "Looking " for me tho if he falls asleep whereever he followed me to, and I leave to go to another room.
Your NOIDS are going to be one of the Named ones I have grown. I didn't grow any that weren't named except one from Seray.

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

I had an old Beagle dog, Miss him too. His name was Sarge. He lived up to that name too. He was a tough little fella, but he got deaf and blind too. Yep, I miss ol Sarge.
Debra, want a tuberose? I may be able to get you a piece.
Charleen

Ladoga, IN(Zone 6a)

Duke is adorable, Debra. He has that look in his eyes, like he's very wise, like he can do everything, but talk. Our rat terrier has the same look...the other two have that look of"nobody's home"...lol...all play... We are definately dog people, and it makes me sad to think of you girls dogs being old and sick.I know it is heartbreaking. Our dogs are like family.
My daughter has a 16 year old cat that is blind from cataracts, and almost deaf. Her name is Crazy cat, because she came out of the woods as a tiny kitten, and got in the great dane pen, looking for for food...there were 3 kittens, and their momma must have died or something because they were wild and starving. So, my daughter who was still a teenager, had to try to catch them...so she , put some food in a dog crate and hid.She caught crazy cat, but she tried to tear the crate up.....It took forever for her to calm down, and all these years she would hide from people. Never really got over her wildness, I guess. But, now that she's old she sleeps in the crawl space, on a heat pad.The first thing I do every day when I get to their house is cook for crazy cat. She doesn't have many teeth left, so she likes her food soft and warm. I have to stay with her til she's done, because the other cats will chase her off and take her food. Bless her old heart.
Anyway...Everytime I look at your jungle room, I drool. Beautiful variegated ginger! In the same pic, on the very right side. What are the little sticks, with the swollen joints, in the gray planter? You sent me a couple( at least, I think they are the same thing), and I have no idea what they are, but I think they are very cool.I potted them up in regular MG soil, but I would love to read about them, because I really like them, and know the plant has to be super cool. So, I would like to give them the proper care.Debra, I'll send ya some tuberoses. You will love their fragrance.Mine are the doubles, "pearl", I think.
Elizabeth, if that silly cat ever gets all tied up in a sack...well, that would be a sight to see...lol I wonder if all plant lovers are animal lovers. We sure are, aren't we?
Dee

Ladoga, IN(Zone 6a)

Charleen, good morning. We posted at the same time, again. I started my post earlier, but had to stop in the middle, and go fix the old man some breakfast. One of us will get Debra some tuberoses...lol
Dee

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

Yes, we will. Can't have our Debra suffering without them.
My DH gets his own thru the week. Poor fella. But I have his supper waiting when he gets home from work. Crock beef and potatoes tonight. Love those crock pot liners. Help keep the mess to a minimum.
Charleen

Ladoga, IN(Zone 6a)

My Dh usually fixes his own breakfast and lunch, and I fix supper, unless his sugar drops, like it did this AM. He is a insulin dependent diabetic. When it drops, I jump and run.
I need to get a new crock pot.My big one started over-heating....scorched the counter, so I pitched it.But, I do love crockpot meals.soooo easy.
I have been outside doing a last time weedeating for the year.Tomorrow I am going to mow leaves, and dump them on my front flower bed. It's not mulched and needs severe help...lol
Here's a pic of the flowering crabapple trees out front. They are loaded with crabapples and the birds are loving it.There's a red maple right in line with the tree on the left, but you can hardly tell the difference in the pic.
