I googled for What Happened 1960
came up with a Quiz, and when I answered (some wrong), I got all these wonderful answers :-)
Best/Worse/What did I learn/chat about our day!
Mary, yes, purse was sitting outside on bottom step, same place I had set it..I was lucky!!! Already spent the money that was in it this morning..lol...you need another one to keep Belle company.
Oh Mary, you've given me more ideas, speaker phone, just what I need..lol..usually my telephone sits on my shoulder blade and head bent so I can work while I gab..I'm really not a telephone person, family always give me the dickens because they say I almost cut them off...and no Susan, don't run out of batteries on purpose incase your mind goes there..lol
Tubby what are you up to today seeing all we woman are tired, you'd best entertain us!
Hate watching paint dry, want to get a project done while I'm full of energy but my project just isn't drying quickly enough..know what will happen, I'll be off upstairs, get a lazy on and will do nothing..maybe a micro heater sitting on the table might help...
Going to have an early supper, lordy that homemade stew which by the way I did not burn (lucky me) smells mighty fine..
You are just too talented Susan!
Table #3
A friend dropped off 8 wine glasses and asked if I could paint them
Table #4
Painting a scene on a rock, taking forever for it to dry
Bad enough I have 5 craft tables on the go, just incase I get bored I've crochet sitting upstairs on the chesterfield..
Did someone say ACDC??? noooo not what I meant!
Am sure you all know what I mean...lol
Upstairs for stew, wish you could join me...
Mary, just went upstairs and Part 2 of the 'If God don't mind and da Creek don't rise' documentary by director Spike Lee is on in a few minutes...theme song 'walking to New Orleans'..all about the aftermath...I'm going to watch, perhaps it's on in your neck of the woods as well.

Betty - I'm SO worn out from your day... I had to take a NAP !!! LOL...
Thanks again for the 1960's ideas Betty, Susan & Deb !!... I googled what you all suggested and also found some vintage 1960 advertisements and added them into the slide show... some are kinda funny in today's world :)
Betty - I never heard anything about your dreams last night... what exactly were you dreaming about ? Please send some Disney dreams my way... I usually don't remember my dreams but last night I dreamed about Mom and it was very frustrating because for some reason I was frozen and couldn't reach out to her... Really odd and sad....
DH might let me plan a Disney vacation soon... I'll find out when he gets back...
Hugs,
Mary
Dropping in for a sec. before calling it a night..
Mary, didn't ask you, is your hubby an auctioneer now or is it something he's just taking up as a hobby and part time job???
Lordy, can those guys rhyme it off, I would imagine it's quite difficult.
Hard when you dream of loved ones and they are needing help and you just can't help..I always say those dreams come when they are in need of prayers.
My dreams were pleasant, don't remember everything now but I do know I tried to go back to sleep not once but twice in hopes of going back to Disneyland..lot cheaper than paying for a flight and park entrance I'll tell you..lol
Who knows, maybe I can dream of MGM tonight.
Sleep well
Congratulations Stacey, Chris and Jonathan. Now the fun begins!! Thank you for sharing a pic of the handsome little dude.
It was just a spectacular fall day here today. Temp was in the 70*s, no wind and no rain. Got alot of weeding done - call me silly but I love to weed. It is like ironing for me - very soothing. Weird eh?
Our little village has a small Farmers Market on Sat. mornings so slipped over today to buy some tomatoes and squash. I have the worst tomato crop ever. Grrrrrrr!
Almost time for Meaford Betty.... sure miss doing that show and the chip wagon across from the Hilltop Motel.
Mary when is your inlaws anniversary? Sounds like you will have a great time at it. Auctioneer school eh? Being trying to hear in my head how the patter would sound with your lovely accent.
Debbie how are the kits doing today? Is Shane still thinking he wants to keep one? If he does let him break it to his dad!! How is 'the child' finding her classes this semester?
Susan how is your burn today? Hope it is healing quickly, does it itch yet?
Time to go read. The loons have disappeared, its way too early for them to go south so I am concerned. I miss our nightly commune by the dock. My hot chocolate just doesn't taste the same without their company.
Sweet dreams everyone.
Dianne
Stacey.....I am so very happy for you and CHris on Jonathons arrival. He is a good size little one for being early. Totally adorable, and sure does look like Mom right now. Rest up!
Dianne, the kits are fine. We are finally on a good feeding/sleeping schedule. They are learning fast to find their box if they "gotta go". I think I told you the little stripped one is a boy...the two blacks are both girls. As of right now, Shane isn't insisting on keeping one. DH has actually been talking to them, and has picked up and played with two. He is a "cat guy" big time....he is actually being very understanding. Still hoping I hear from my friend to take one.
"The Child" has actually been doing pretty good with school so far, and they upped her hours at work. She had 36 hours of work last week, and four college courses with homework at the "satalite" campus. I think she is taking an internet course also...but my brain is kind of foggy on that.
Paul had the stitch on his eye incision removed, and it has lessoned the pain greatly. His eye looked much better today, and he said felt much better. Still taking his drops and goes back Wednesday morning.
I ate something that didn't agree with me for dinner, so not sure whats going on. My stomach is all bubbly feeling. Took gas-x but its not doing a darn thing. Tried some chewables also.
I am heading to bed Sweet dreams!
Debbie
Debbie
Hello To All ! The NIght Shift is ON! LOL!
Betty - DH works for an Auction company... they are sending him to learn and I suppose get licensed as an auctioneer... so he can actually do the auctions and 'talk funny' as I said before... I am SO mad at him right now...
Please dream of MGM tonight for me.. (aka Disney's Hollywood Studios) and Ride Rockin' Roller Coaster !
Dianne - you and I are "Two peas in a Pod" ... I actually LOVE weeding as well.. something about weeding .. it relaxes me.. and that's what I do while out with Belle... she is trying hard to understand and just attacks the grass near me pulling stuff out... LOL
I don't know if I have much of an accent... I was a military brat... living in many different places although I call the South my home. Heavy southern accents irritate me... although "Ya'll" (LOL) might think I have a southern accent... I just don't hear it....
The In-Law's were married 10/15/1960... and we actually have a couple places available for a Party on the same date 2010... I never would have thought still available however perhaps since the economy.... However the place/food estimates for 60 people are running $1400-$2000.... I never would have thought so much... now I know...
more in a bit... Belle needs to go out...
Betty - you're right...... my mind WAS running thata way!! LOL But now I know it Ain't me, right?
Diane - the burn is awful........ doesn't itch, just burns... I put a burn bandage on it (has cooling gel inside), and it's fine while I have it on, but when I remove it, and it starts to dry, it burns like all heck!! I know I can't keep it moist all the time, cuz it needs to dry, but DANG it hurts........
btw - it looks like a perfect 5-point star! Going to be one heck of a scar lol
Frost warning tonight, so brought my hibiscus, 3 tomato plants, and 3 brugs (I got sent to by Bernadette in NB). One of my tomatoes had really sprawled, so I had to tie/prop it up! lol The tomatoes have a lot of fruit on them, so I guess I'll have to keep them in the house to ripen. The one is a tiny tim, the other is a hothouse, and can't remember the 3rd one - likely a basic tomato. Have only had the 1 hothouse tomato from them. We haven't had much sun this summer (or warmth, for that matter) so I hope they'll ripen inside.....
Thanks for all the well wishes:) It was an interesting road to travel I must say. I was in such pain Friday night by the time they decided to do the Csection, but was still scared for the procedure. When he came out he let out a little wail, but Chris said he was good through all the poking and needles. Chris went with him to the Nicu while I got put back together and then came to me in recovery. I had a fabulous team and the anesthesiologist was great. He told me what to expect right before it happened to I knew what was going on was normal. After I spent about 1.5 hrs in recovery, they took me to see Jonathan before going to my room. It was and has been hard to leave him there. I was able to finally take a shower yesterday (hadn't had one since Tuesday) after lunch and visiting the baby. He is already eating some on his own, and the only reason he needs to stay here is because he isn't taking full feedings on his own yet. He has a supplement tube in his nose and down his throat for feeding. But the nurses were surprised that he was already taking 10ml of formula pretty much since birth and they upped him to 20ml yesterday for lunch. I was able to get a little milk when pumping, so will be taking that to him today. So far everything has went pretty well with my recovery. I did have some reactions to the anesthesia though. I have been itching like crazy and was dizzy all day yesterday and Friday night-so much so it made me sick. Chris slept at home last night, but will be here in a couple hrs this am. Mom is coming as well as SIL, but my mom won't be here for a couple weeks. We are trying to time it so that when Chris goes to Minneapolis she can be here.
Morning all,
Rained all night, overcast , looks gloomy but hey it's ony 7:30a.m. lol didn't check the weather so who knows maybe it will be a sunshine day, if not, believe me I've plenty to do..got much accomplished yesterday, would like to finish a few of the projects tonight.
Dianne I also like weeding and ironing, I've summer 2 piece outifits that I wear from June to September, almost time to put them away, they are wash and wear, great fabric so have not had to iron, this week I took out some fall clothing and enjoyed pressing..
Weather here yesterday was much like yours Dianne and yes Meaford Scarecrow Festival and Craft show is coming soon and I'm looking forward to it. Darlene mentioned that if it was a rainy day and she was feeling up to it that she might call, pick up Daney and we could take a run today. I was there last week shopping at the Meaford Warehouse so don't really need to go but would, an outing is always nice even though you've got work...always enjoyable on the Meaford weekend to go to the Candle Factory, did you know that they set out a tent that is bigger than 4 houses and it's full of discounted items...great for Christmas gifts (candles/wood painted items/metal art etc.) that you only want to spend $5.00 - $10.00 on...and then of course I could take home a zillion things from the country cottage..sure can make a day of it stopping in boutiques, fabric shops along route from Thorton to Collingwood, Wasaga Beach and then Elmvale. OOOh can't forget the homemade pies, apples from Grandma Lambs... Wish you were up to it, you could spend the weekend here and could join us in our outing!
Rose should arrive later this morning, been nice having the house on my own, was thinking, next weekend I'm away to Buffalo and she'll have the house, weekend after I'm sure she'll go home, following weekend it's Meaford, I'm busy/busy, weekend after is Thanksgiving so am sure she'll be home..all and all I think this shall work out..has to, WANT that travel trailer...
Debbie, glad Paul is doing better, must be awfully itcy having a stitch in the eye, aggravating to say the least. Ahhh, if Paul is picking up and talking to the kitties must mean he's ok with them, keep an eye on him, he just might want to keep them all!
Now if we can get you healthy all will be well in your world!
Nice to hear the children are all doing well, big undertaking working and studying at same time so she must be gung ho to get her credits. Are you able to meet up with me CrackerBarrel Saturday or Sunday, I owe you a birthday breakfast or will you be near Christmas Tree shop on either of the days??? Bringing something with me for you and don't want to post it..lordy, I've a big box + of swaps/items for mailing.. Think about it and let me know before I leave Friday morning.
Mary, we never seen to think we have an accent but I'm sure we do...Angry with DH...did he forget to kiss you goodbye??? just kidding of course..Are you the one organizing everything for the 50th.? I rather thought that the fee you mentioned was very reasonable for 60 people. Lordy up here you pay anywhere from $25 - $40 per plate then add in rental of hall, music etc. Glad I don't have anyone to arrange a function for. Sounds as though you are on top of the 'remember when' project seeing as it's coming so soon you have to be.
Crissy how did you make out yesterday, nice lunch and outing?
Tubby, waving here, hope you've had a good night sleep.
Susan, just knew your mind would go 'there' lol As for taking in plants due to frost warnings, I really don't have many outside and the ones in containers, well let's just say they had a touch of 'Betty' and don't need to be taken in.
Off for coffee and porridge..seems as though we change our eating habits depending on seasons..already it was homemade stew (which was delicious and now porridge)..
gab later
Ohhh Stacey, so glad to see you post, and yes, we were all so excited and happy that he was born 'healthy' and that you came through the experience like a trooper..hard when you don't know what to expect, sounds though your doctor's kept you well informed, that lessened the anxiety I'm sure.
You must remember that your body has gone through much lately and it will take a bit to adjust.
Now you'll know what it will be like to be a 'mother hen'..pictures were great, think I even saw a tear in one eye..such an overwhelming experience, to see a birth..never had the chance to see mine born, didn't do it that way, nor were husbands allowed to enter the birthing area..how times have changed.
Janice will be so excited, how many other grandchildren does she have, don't think I've ever asked???
Your mom will come at a perfect time...
Just too exciting..don't overdo!!!
Glad your doing good Stacey, and I'm very happy he's progressed further than they thought! How does it feel to be a mom?
Betty you have the most energy out of anyone I have ever seen! That's great!!
Here's how the day was! The gal I was with, Dave's best friend's wife, isn't the most cheerful person to be around, nothing makes her happy and she's always brooding about something, however how do you keep that going all day around me??? LOL!!! The lunch was awesome, I love that restaurant we went to, Pickles Gap village is a little old fashioned shopping center with an antique store, an American Indian store, gift store, deli and fudge store, gun and knife store, and a bath store, got some awesome body butters! Got to Russellville (Pickles Gap is an hour from the house, Russellville is another 50 miles west of that on I-40) to go to this huge dollar store, they have moved and it's now a normal sized dollar store with the same ole stuff, she got a few items and I got a few items (small gold Christmas wreath I can decorate and hang in my office, some kitchen wipes, and a kitty litter scoop since Tiga's is broke) so we decided that we will never be making that trip again, but we were just happy to do something other than the norm. On the way back we were both thinking that we really have nothing in common, then fishing came up, all 4 of us like to fish! Got a good laugh of that and she's going to teach me how to frog gig! After we got back I dropped her off at her house, drove back to my house, Greg and Dave did not go to the kayak RU as Greg didn't want to get up off of his sofa plus it was raining and very humid after the rain left, Dave didn't care either way, me and Dave went to town and had Backyard Burgers, boy were those yummy, went to the store (Kroger) and got some really good looking steaks and a small pot roast Dave's going to cube up for stew tonight, we got home and the NASCAR race was on so I made a margarita and watched the race, then we went to bed at 10pm. All in all, it was a great day!
LK I don't know who got the closest time, my guess was 6:35pm.

Betty, I will be there to meet up with you. Wherever is more convenient for you and your DM.
DH is tolerating the kittens, and NO we do not want to keep them. Waiting to hear on a home for one of the black ones. I just can't handle any more animals in the house. We have been trying to place two of our adults in another home. They just don't do well with so many other cats.
My stomach is still a mess this morning. SO, think I am going to lay low today and have a bland diet. DH has his eye on the Bills/Miami game. I need to clean up the bedroom and get some of my laundry moving.
I will be back in a bit to respond to everyone.....I am dragging. And Betty being so full of energy makes me over tired. Thats my story and I'm stickin to it! lol
Debbie
Glad we can meet up Debbie! Don't you blame me for getting tired..lol.. I'll be out of energy by 3 or 4 this afternoon and I'll pass what's left on to you!
Working away at painting black squares, couple more left to do then I can touch up the yellow/gold ones and then ready to paint to red insert..it's a paint a few squares and move upstairs to sew a row onto afghan, then back downstairs for a few more squares..time consuming watching paint dry.
Goodness, everyone has been so busy, and Tubby is back online! Glad to hear your doing OK tubby! Last we heard from you is that you had to go to the hospital to see where you were bleeding from.
Bev, how are you doing?
Well, I went and scrolled up, and as far as I can tell, Crissy has the closest guess, with 6:35 central time, and that is 7:35 Stacey's time, so I will find some seeds and send the your way!
How wonderful for Crissy, LindaKay! What have you been up to, haven't seen you post for awhile..feeling ok? Chilly here today although the sun came out, when do you normally get the cooler temps LindaKay?
Kyle was here for his visit, stayed about an hour, kept grandma company, yawning here, can see my energy is leaving..lol
Betty, I have been here, j ust try to spend time with hubby while he is home...
It starts to get cool here about mid November or so, give or take a few weeks! we usually get frost for a few weeks in Dec or January, then about March it will warm up again.
When you say DH is 'home' do you mean weekends or does he work away? Still a long time then before the heat breaks, you'll be so ready for the lower temps..
Perfect fall day here, haven't been out though as my back is still killing me, in fact, going to go have a hot bath and take a few pain killers.
Rose got here about 2 hrs. ago with parents, John (her dad) connected a modum so that Rose can be connected to wireless computer, not sure if she's up and running yet..
Got a call from my mom and I'm NOT happy! She started the conversation with ' will you be mad at me if' well that always opens the door for discussion. Apparently Aunt Muriel's grandson Jeff is organizing a 40th weeding anniversary for his parents, when, next Saturday, hello, you wait 7 days before telling people of a major function, so, mom says it's something she has to be at and we can go weekend after, nope, told her that weekend I'm in a class all day Saturday, so she says following week, nope, that's Meaford and I've plans with about 10 girls, well next weekend for sure she says, NOPE, that weekend is Thanksgiving so can't be till 3rd week in October.
Doesn't matter to me about NOT going but I did want to meet up with Debbie AND have all these swap boxes to mail, about double and tripple when doing so from here...guess I'll spend the evening wrapping and putting labels on each swap then leave early tomorrow morning and mail them all..
Hate it when you plan, change plans and then someone changes it all..did want to see Jeff and the boys so guess I'll go to Toronto next Saturday and spend the day with them.
Off I go, got parcels to wrap...
Sorry Debbie...
I'm not HAPPY at all!
Oh Betty, I am sorry! I was so looking forward to everything.
Wish I had words of wisdom...but I don't.
Betty I would be upset too! Oh my I hate it when that happens, it is THE most frustrating, makes you feel like someone only cares about their time and taheck with the rest of the family and friends, oh yes, I would definitely be upset.
LK wow you don't get much winter down there! If you're not up to it or don't feel like it don't worry about the seeds hun, it's not a big deal, I was just shocked that I got so close since I've never been pregnant and have no clue what it's all about.
LK - I was beginning to think I had CRS...... I was Sure that Tubby went to the hospital on a Monday to see where he was bleeding from, too, but others (including Tubby.....) thought I was mistaken, and that it was Bev..... siiiiiiiiiiigh Thank you for remembering what I did lol
Hello To All ;
Betty - That's such a shame... I'm so like you...make my plans in advance... and here I am about to make invitations to the MIL/FIL 50th anniv planned for 10/15..... We will probably get them in the mail pretty soon... absolutely NOT one weeks notice that seems so short...
Wow - it was over 100 degrees here today ! Hotter for you LK? It was just stifling...like July was.....
Crissy - That sounds like such a neat area to shop and eat ! On a day like today I should have dressed up and found some place like that and shopped around....
Betty - you are right... It does seem to be the normal price... we're supposedly getting 'discounts' everywhere must be the economy... I'm just a novice at planning something like this and never thought it would be priced that high....
DH has been VERY SWEET lol... he knows he has left me here with 3 teenagers... DS is AWOL so no problem there. Work and Girlfriend. But we did have a prob with DD2.
That's why I am aggravated with DH.
Been working on my slide show.. Back in a bit...
Hugs,
Mary
I will apologize since I am going to be a little self centered for a little while and probably won't be comment much on others posts....
Everyone says Jonathan does look more like me:) He does have Chris's hands and feet (LONG fingers and his 2nd toe is longer than his 1st and his little toes curl under-I actually freaked out the first time I saw his feet since his small toe was curled under and I thought he only had 4-LOL) He should be in the NICU for 2-3 weeks is everyone's best guess right now, but it all depends on him. He pulled out his feeding tube yesterday and they were having problems with the IV, so they switched sides for both and yes Chris stayed to watch and I had to leave the room. It was hard enough to watch them suck out his boogies and him get so upset, I couldn't watch the rest. Apparently as long as the IV and feeding tube are in, they will switch them every 3 days so the sticky stuff from the tape doesn't bother his skin.
I have to admit I HATE the pics with me in them. I had scratched my face so much from my reaction to the anesthetic and my nose is red and dry from blowing it and my eyes are red from crying, I am just a big mess;) I have a few more pics, just need to find my cord to download them into the puter:)
Susan-please don't think I am being pushy, cause I'm not, I was just wondering if you were still making the diaper hanger? I am only asking so we know what else we need to buy to get everything ready. 2-3 weeks sounds like forever to me right now, but I know he will be coming home B4 we know it and I want to have everything we need .....if you aren't, that's fine, I just need to know so I can buy one or something else to put them in...
It is VERY hard to leave him and I cry buckets and think I am the worst mom ever when I do. Chris keeps telling me to stop saying that, it isn't true. He said I was brave for everything I went through for 4 days and my Dr yesterday said I have a crazy high tolerance for pain. She also said that she swore he was so low that he had had a 6cm ring on his head from my stupid cervix. She said that I probably won't be able to have children normally and will have to have a Csection for any more because of the malfunctioning cervix-I guess it is pretty rare. She was also surprised that I haven't taken anything other than ibuprofen for the surgery. She gave me a prescription for Percocet, but I haven't filled it. So far the 800mg ibuprofen are working just fine. I little pain and achy muscles never killed anyone yet, so I am sure it won't do me in either:)
Betty and Debbie-sorry you won't get to meet up:( Betty when you come for the Frankenmuth thing, you can always extend your trip a little and come see my little cutie;)
Mary-I had to scroll back up and look at the price, but I do agree with Betty and think it sounds reasonable.
Stacey - you positively GLOW, girl!! And you're a wonderful, protective mom - just as you Should Be! We've all of us (moms, that is) looked this way after giving birth... my goodness Stacey - don't be so hard on yourself. You've gone through a lot. You're beautiful!! And so is that adorable son of yours! Chris looks like he's beaming ^_^
Morning all,
Waving Stacey, you can be self centered all you want, love to hear about your experiences and I've done same having to leave my baby in the hospital, didn't get Jeff back until he was 6 months old...but lordy, the nurses took him as one of their own, could have had better care and am sure Jonathan will get same care and it's better to be safe than sorry.
You certainly have had a lot to deal with, Chris as well, wonderful that he got to be with you through the entire birth.
Yes, I didn't show it to mom how disappointed I was but when I think it's her birthday on Friday, day we were leaving, and, wanting to spend time with her, think she really should have said 'no, I've plans' you see Darlene is not her favorite person NOR is mom Darlene's favorite person, she'd not have been missed...just gabbing to Sharon this morning and she thinks mom was wrong to cancel our plans..now watch is mom doesn't change her mind after me mailing out all those parcels this morning...all except 2 which were so heavy, that the estimate to mail out was in the $30.00's so kept them till I cross the border...
And yes Debbie I was so looking forward to our visit, here I worked Sat. & part of yesterday painting a chicken floormat for you hopefully in your colors, know you love chickens and have them in your kitchen and now I don't get to give it to you..might post it this week though and not keep it until Oct. 16th.
Crissy, what's with Dave, he seems to want to do things, plan outings etc. but when time comes he doesn't do them..what's a bit of rain when you are on the lake and in a kayak??? Glad you enjoyed you day out but think you should have driven to Memphis lol..and gone to that warehouse store I took you to..
Wow Mary, that's hot, after the heat and humidity we had here I've had a taste of your weather and it's not the kind of weather I'd want to have day after day..usually Mary you try to get them out at least 4 to 6 weeks before the event so get going..don't remember is you answered my question, are you the one doing all the planning, no other sibblings helping out?
Susan went back a few threads, just so we know (I didn't admit it but I thought same re Tubby)...his last post late August said he was going to the hospital on the Monday...lol
Barb, Ann came to visit yesterday, we both chuckled at your card. Ann was appreciative, you are a sweetie to keep her and Mike in your thoughts...
Joyce, how did your hypertufa class go, take any photo's???
Didn't even remember that I wanted to use up all my materials, got involved in so many other projects that it escaped me..
Still a few nice weekends left, I'll let you find all the short cuts then learn from them..lol
Bev, Tubby, Laura, know you are in my thoughts and prayers, hope today is a sunshine day for all of you!
I have an interview today @ 3:15........ yikes!!
The message came in last Wed, but I didn't get it from my cell (hardly Anyone calls my cell.....). I spoke to the woman today, and she says the only interview times are for this afternoon! Double Yikes!
They pay less than my last position, but I know they have great benefits, and they are so handy to home, Plus they have a gym on site! We shall have to see......
It's a college, and I've always liked the high energy of educational facilities....
Good luck Susan. We will be waiting to hear the good news!
