Me, I've just been outside to anchor anything that needs anchoring..news buletin saying we're in for a severe storm, possiblity of tornadoes in the region..moving our way so I'm unplugging the computer just incase..

Normally we don't pay too much attention but since we just had a tornado hit us and did much damage we're all being more cautious and it is as it should be...lordy keep thinking these things are more in your neck of the woods, down south and here it's hitting us once again...

it was a very nice visit. and now I have a few days at home to do some sewing, before I have to go back to work (Tues.)

Betty - I didn't think I'd get you back on the phone when yours went dead, after you said about the storm, so I figured it was best to not have you on the phone. Don't want you getting a perm through the phone now, do we?!?!

I was about to tell you why I didn't put up my portable greenhouse this year:
In the morning, before work, it's too cool to open up the zippers, so I leave them. When I get home the humidex is 50c inside (cuz it's a pull-over plastic cover). I leave a thermostat in it to check the temp....... I lost a few plants to the terrible temps, and it doesn't matter if I leave it in sun or shade because at some point in the day all parts of my deck get sun......

We had a quick little storm...put the green plastic lawn chairs in the pond. Only got a little over 1/4 inch....sigh....well, anything is better than NO thing!

Storm passed us by as well, don't even think we got any rain after the few drops we got while I was speaking to Susan..lots of rumbling..humidity warning on for the day, terrible out there, doubtful I'll get outside to do any of the work I had planned..no air to breath, feel sorry for those with breething problems and even more so for those without a/c

Joyce, guess you can't work outside either with this humidity..all are housebound..

Thunder, she's absolutely gorgeous..nice to get away and visit with friends..yuk to going back to work..lol..

Sailor is just laying around this morning, had to con her to get her outside for a few minutes..guess the heat is getting to the furries as well..her haunches are healing well, gave her a good brushing this morning.

Finished cutting the last of the rag quilt , will try to sew 'x' through 30 or 40 so I can clip at work tomorrow, one way of keeping busy.

Well of for breakfast, going to go out and at least measure what I need for the back shed

Betty-this may sound like a stupid question, but while you have sailor, why not make one of your "rugs" with the laminate for the living room so that way you just have to wipe up the messes and not have to buy a new one every time you turn around??

Well Stacey that does sound like a plan..I should go through all the left over rag blocks and make her one..I do have a small one on the velvet chair because of the cats and hair..having one would mean just washing it out..good thinking girl..


Here's my shed in it's location, if I can manage from time to time to go out and finish it, I'll be able to decorate..not sure the flower/shrub beds beside it will get dug this year and pathway made but one step at a time in this project.

I could really get my boys in a tizzy if I save the path and garden digging for Thanksgiving weekend in October...lol

I think that looks like the perfect place for it! Ya dun gud, gerl.... ;o)

Betty, you could also rent or purchase a stram cleaner. They work really good at those kind of messes, and is cheaper than buying new carpets all the time, or like Stacey said, make one of your vinyl rugs!

Betty, use natures miracle....or make your own 1/4 cup dawn dish, 1/4 vinegar, 1/4 cup peroxide....and fill rest of bottle with water. We use it all the time....it gets out smells and stains...doesn't discolor my carpet. IF it doesn't work....you still get a new carpet....but if it works, ya save money!

Holy wow, talk about humid and hot out there..trying to finish my project but yikes..heat not condusive to construction..lol

I do have a steam cleaner and used it last night, you have to look hard to see where she was sick..I'll just plug along and hope for the best..

Noticed the metal art piece I bought 2 weeks ago is well on it's way to rusting..least the humidity is good for something..

Called Kyle to wish him well on 2 weeks of camp, he absolutely doesn't want to go..we'll have to see what progresses..think I'd be letting him stay home..he took out the dingy all afternoon yesterday and said he enjoyed it, glad I gave it to him early..

Guess who else got a dingy..yep our Susan, she she's all set with her new camping gear to have a fun filled September long weekend..

Betty you can still use that solution over where you steam cleaned....it gets out the residue and smell.

Was listening to Buffalo news this morning and they had quite a shooting yesterday, 2 men-2 women dead and many more injured. One poor fellow was celebrating his wedding anniversary and was in early 30's...just someone I believe oponed fire...can happen anywhere..not part of where I stay though...prayers for their families!

Sounds like a good mixture to have on hand. I'll be sure to pass it along!

Talk about curls, washed and set my hair this morning, fresh perm so didn't wash it for 3 days, looked nice, now massive curls and looks just like when I got out of the tub from washing it..so curls it will be

I'm getting a haircut on Tuesday...gosh I need it so bad! My Mom offered to pay for it....she wants it cut NOW! LOL!

Betty, it has been pouring here the last half hour. No thunder etc, just heavy rain. We so need it!

I won't be going anywhere today. Am having an allergic reaction to medications I started about 2 weeks ago....and I itch so badly. Am now taking heavy benedryl dose Per Doctors instructions. Grrrrr! Talk about itchy!

Argh I had this post posted but then it didn't post, my satellite went down for whatever reason and now it's gone. Boo.

That vine on your back porch looks nice Betty, if you don't want the vine to grow any further either tuck the feelers back into the plant or cut them off. I always tuck them back into the plant so it grabs onto itself and makes it thicker.

I can't call in sick, remember we just laid off my co-worker, the one who did the same job I do, so now instead of 2 of us doing the work there is 1 of us doing the work... me. Well, that's not true, the programmer has taken part of it and is recoding the program so it works better YAY!!!!! Him and my boss are my hero's!! Besides, I'm well now! Dave's well too!

And Betty what happened with getting the phones set up in your house? Friday should have been your last day if you decided to go through with it, I was too sick to check and see what was going on with you.

rumbling/rumbling...had some old stain so stained the floor, the bench and shelf support, don't care if it rains it will just age the wood, now it's a waiting game, with this humidity not likely to dry for days so can't sand and age so that new wood looks like old until it does..

Got 1 sheet on tin on the roof, few cracks of lightning, thought to myself , 'this isn't a good idea' lol so in I am, bit of a sore back, please don't tell me boys..no/no/no - feet up and going to rag some blocks, not hard but it keeps me busy for an hour or so then it's make something for Sunday din/din...

Sure wish we did get the rain..don't like this humidity..guess you all are used to it, us northerners, nope! I'll keep my snow if you keep your humidity!!! how's that for a deal.

oh U 3 - between Betty, Jaye, and Chrissy, you're gonna give me a swelled head! I'm trying my best to stay humble - "pride goeth before a fall" doncha know?!?! (ya actually have me blushing, and That hasn't happened for quite awhile).

There's a sweet older man (74 yo) at church, who I've "adopted" as my daddy - he's such a sweetheart! He asked me, seeing as how he's now my adopted daddy, if I did my homework last night - told him I did practice for my solo! So I'm in his good books ^_^

I'm going to try to find a tape recorder for the 29th for my solo so I can tape it for my sweet Mom who lives so far away from me in Winnipeg. She's thrilled I will be sending her the tape. I've got to do well for her, as well as the LORD. I'll be singing Whispering Hope (it was my maternal grandmother's favourite), so therefore my DM and self's favourite, too.

Well, time to have lunch - have a wonderfully blessed day, everyone!

The only thing that could have made it better was if DS and DD could have been here. DS's job too new to ask off and DD 'thought' she was off but they called her in.

But we had MIL, FIL, BIL, his 3 kids and GK, me, DH and DD2....

DH boiled some HUGE shrimp, potatoes, corn, onions, garlic, etc.... it was YUMMY !

Morning all,

Was early to bed last night, thought I'd just get comfy, read a book and was tired enough to fall asleep, that is until 2 a.m.!

Had to go outside and see my handy work, lok, shed will look nifty when the metal roof is on, going to call Greg today and have him bring a metal cutting saw and some metal screws so I can finish up my project, imagine it would take no more than 20 minutes so tonight is looked after, would hate to be bored

Because the rain missed us all weekend I just turned on the sprinkler so that the rose of sharons and the 5 others shrubs might survive , best I not forget to shut it off before leaving

I've swept the house a zillion times, putting corn starch on Sailor for wounds sounds wonderful but I've white all over the place..had to coax her outside this morning

Mary, hubby sounds as though he had a lovely Birthday dinner even without a few of the children..as they age you'll find it almost impossible to get them all in the same place at one time. I always aim for Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas and that's a chore in itself. You poor thing, must be exhausted..seems we all go back to work Monday's for a rest!

Susan, I'm sure your mom will be thrilled to have a recording of your solo, perhaps an actual recorder would give you better sound..wouldn't the church have one on hand.

Betty, sometimes they get hot spots, and it just itches, but it could be something more, so you may want to call the vet and have him checked out?
