Debbie, is that beautiful sunflower in your yard? I sooo love sunflowers but have never been able to grow them..you and Barb should be photographers, you just know how to take a photo .. love them..now there Debbie that might be a field you can pursue..
Glad there is a drop in temps. maybe now you'll see Debbie if it plays a big part in your swelling
getting anxious to hear from tubby as well, usually by now he's given me my word of the day..
Sharon is coming for the afternoon and evening and bringing her American Eskimo pup, didn't have the heart to tell her not to bring her, wonder if poor Riley will leave again?
Best/Worse & What did I learn today..visit with friends!
endorphines kicking in!
Went to the gym today, and had a good workout.
Now I'm back to the Expense Reimbursement grind LOL
ewwwww Crissy - not good to lose weight That Way!! take care, hon.
http://www.wimp.com/bestmayor/
Hope this comes through. This 88 year old mayor is wonderful, wish all the cities US and canada, could be debt free like hers!
Betty-LOL-not hardly. We don't have that much yet. The crib, rocker and bouncy are in the actual room and the stuff in the living room are some clothes, diapers, bathtub and bag of toys from Joyce. We still have a TON we need.......I didn't have to work today, so I tried to take a nap and after getting woken up everytime I drifted off, I was finally able to get a couple hrs in. Now time to finish the laundry, sweep the kitchen and find my camera-I sat it down someplace yesterday, so will have to retrace my steps..
Linda Kay that is one amazing woman!!!! Why can't we have people like that here?????
Holy Cow - I want Hazel to be OUR mayor !!!
We have an election coming up in October - maybe the City'll buy the trailers from us, or release us from the rent so we can "move on with our lives"....... siiiiiiiiigh wishful thinking!
Betty, I planted about 40 sunflowers across the back fence. Not one came up...they were pretty fall colors with reds in them. NOTHING! So about two weeks ago, went out, and there at the back porch was this sunflower about 2 ft tall. It is now about 5 ft. tall and the flower just opened yesterday and this morning. I got more shots of it...playing with the new camera. Still have to load them on the puter...Paul has mine up and running again!
Betty, nothing would make me happier than to be a photographer. It is my love.
Ok, gotta run outside with the dog....bbl.
Debbie
Evening all, talk about tired, just going to post a few things then call it a night...
LindaKay, Hazel is from what was one of our Toronto boroughs..did you know even Regis came for her birthday party..she's had a bit of trouble of late re her son and politics but think she'll get in again..we also had a Mayor in Port Severn where I worked, her name was Dot Donnelly and she was Hazel's twin..I loved working for her..
Been quite a day, came home to find Kyle and a friend having pizza on back deck, nice surprise..ended up giving him his pressie, who wants something you can enjoy in the water for Christmas, thought about it, why not give them something to play with now..isn't that what grandma's are for..
Off they went, just came in the house and Aline dropped in, her leg has been giving her mega trouble and she could barely make the stairs...yikes, she looked in pain..thinks it's a pinched nerve...
She was on her way out when Ann dropped in for a visit, sat with her for about an hour, she sure needed some hugs and support..
We were walking the gardens when she said, your sister is here...so off went Ann and in came Sharon and Nicki..got started on the rag quilt, visual instructions was basically all she needed...I cut squares, Nicki did rag cutting and Sharon did sewing..we got the entire rag quilt cut out and 3 rows put together..3 out of 11 isn't bad..
Stopped only for hamburger and corn, just sat down to eat and in comes a truck full of men, for that I should be happy right? they were here to move the flower shed (outhouse look) to a location of my choice, however, couldn't quite put it there because of the size, not happy with where it is, I'll finish at least the floor to give it more stability, look at it and decide if I want it repositioned or not...none of those men understand creativity, none can imagine what I want to do with it or why I want it hidden in the bush..drats...shaking my head here...so back in for din/din..Sharon just left..should be going over to Dan's to measure motor for one of his boats, need a cover made and repairs to his big boat tarp, of course he helped move the shed and Greg assured him his mom could sew anything..you got to love it but I'm too tired, will go over tomorrow morning and go into town to purchase the materials I need.. for now it's into bed for a good night's sleep..
Sharon was telling me that she will be in Olympia, Washington in a few weeks for a dog show, told her that's where our Trisha lives, wasn't aware that Olympia was that big..
Here's one of her 4 month old puppies...Riley stayed around so guess she wasn't as intimidating as Ned was..speaking of Ned, Greg said that when he got home he pee'd all over the place, guess he was showing them a thing or two about leaving him for a week with grandma...
Wow Bev and Debbie, you'd almost think the same photographer was taking photo's..how alike your styles are...beautiful..almost makes me want to go out and buy some sunflowers..closest I'd come to having some. gorgeous for sure! Debbie you are so lucky to have someone inhouse to help with computer issues..mine is still running slow.
Barb I picked up the pattern for the Day at the Lake quilt..omg it has to have about 40 sheets of patterns/instructions..lovely though, upper is above lake and lower below then all the trees are appliqued..the owner even managed to get me the disolving thread, that made me happy. Glad you got my blocks; got to finish up the bags I'm doing and get back to September blocks. Promise, they'll be on time.
Crissy, didn't see your post before I left the office, how horrible that you've come down with a virus, couldn't you have taken today off so that it would give you 3 days to get your strength back..don't overdo.
No news on Tubby..had hoped he'd have posted by now..aren't we all mother hens..worry/worry and worry some more!
Susan, Hazel might be just what you need.
Stacey, you haven't had baby shower up there yet have you? am sure there are plenty of baby things yet to come..glad you were able to rest..
Hello To All;
Susan - I LOVE your optimism! You didn't get the trailer and just went straight to "plan B" and are SO happy about it ! Definitely you are someone to look up to....
Stacey - When we found the baby bat in the pool... DH retrieved it and put it on a warm brick windowsill. We checked on it later...and it was gone... so hoping it lived... NEVER thought I would find a BAT in the pool though !
I DID buy the Bat House today. I got DH the dehydrator but he asked for that ...so I wanted a "surprise" as well. Betty - I found dehydrator at Bed Bath & Beyond. THe only brand they had but called a friend and she has same brand and likes it... It was the first place I went so I was glad.... very easy bday this year... :)
Stacey - sounds like one of 'those' bosses.... my favorite people to work for are the ones who would NEVER tell me to do something that they, themselves....
Oops - I'll be right back... don't want to lose my posts like Betty & Linda Kay...
know how frustrating that can be !
I'm back !
Betty - Well - DH SAID he put up posters.... If so they are out supposedly where he works... so I suppose I'll never know... maybe drive by there next week and see... Anyways. Vet appt for 3p Monday....after I pay the $100 or so to the vet... they'll be hard pressed to claim her LOL!
I made her 'walk the path' with me again today....want it to be my 'after work' tradition... she is really learning it! Anyway she pooped right on my green potato vine... the one DH HATES! ....So I made sure he knew and he said "Good girl.... you did JUST what I told you to do!".... methinks...DH has fallen for her.
Crissy - glad you are feeling better...what a way to lose pounds! Wish I could but NOT that way !
LOVE all the beautiful sunflower pics! We tried to grow one...just unable to... what do they like? sun? drainage?
bbl... Hugs to all,
Mary
PS: I JUST figured out what bbl meant..... that is why I'm using it LOL!
Sorry - Stacey - I never finished that thought?
My favorite bosses were those who would NEVER ask me to do something they themselves would NOT do.
Thank you, Mary - I believe that 2010 is a wonderful year for me - I love living in Calgary, and even though tough things happen to me, what human on this earth Doesn't?
Even with all the ups and downs of life, I live a pretty good one - have a wonderful DH, a job I love (even though I'm overworked, there are some with no jobs.... or ones they don't enjoy), I have a roof over my head, and have "most" of my health.
And even if I were to complain - Who'd listen ?? rofl!!
Actually, I believe in moderation in all things - gripe a little, but remember the blessings you have in life. If you can wake up every morning (actually, yeah - I manage to wake up every morning - it's a goooooood thing!) breathing, you're OK!
I have things to look forward to in my life as well - camping with my DH - in whatever form it takes.
I've had people tell me I'm too perky, but I'd rather laugh and smile than that other darn thing of being grumpy. Who wants to be around an old grump? They'd rather be around an old happy person LOL
♫♪~§usan♪♫
OH SUSAN!
Love you to death gal! I'm so SO 'with' you on that. My DH... well... he's not perfect....but he's perfectly enough for me...
(Betty - your admonishment ..is that a word?.... was not lost on me either... YES... be glad for the dirty socks! LOL!)
My Job... well had a few "come to Jesus" meetings this week. BUT .. it's a GOOD job... and FUN! when I can make it fun.
Things to look forward to.
It's a good life Susan... when you can make it that way... and I might be called naive or a Pollyanna... but I'd rather be called that..... than a Grump. !!!
Hugs,
Mary
((((((Mary)))))))
Hi All
Had to go get 2 units of blood.......................
I think I need more.......................
So mon. morning I go for some test................
We'll see what they find................
Tubby
Morning, what lovely posts to wake up to..I've often been told I'm much too optimistic and happy with my day, not just natural..lol..but I'm like you, I've had some rough and touch roads to follow, believe me, but you can either lay down and die and keep trecking..keep telling myself, no one will get the better of me..I'm actually a very simple person, don't need diamonds and pearls for sure, little things make me happy..just like yesterday, my niece Nicki had been to visit friends in the country and was in an antique store and decided to purchase a treasure for Aunt Betty, she came across a couple of objects that she thought would look lovely in my little cafe..was thrilled that a 15 year old would take the time to think of me..which reminds me, must attach the salt/pepper unit to the wall today and place her metal chicken somewhere prominent to I can take a photo and send her another thank you..these little things is what makes your day!
Mary, guess you'll have a full day preparing for hubby's birthday..wish him the best and tell him a Canadian gal is singing Happy Birthday off key to him!
Looks as though it will be a wonderful day out there, I've already been out, eyeing where the boys moved my shed..not sure that is where I want it, perhaps if it were set in more..uggg might try to push it over a bit but that wouldn't be a good idea as it weighs a ton, but don't want to finish it and make it heavier if I'm not happy with where it's at..now that I've made it I'm not sure it's what I want...
Fabricland doesn't open until 10 and I'm sure Laurie and Dan won't be up yet so I take take some measurements for the motor cover they want so I've got to sit here and entertain myself..figure if I leave here at 10, do my measurements, go pick up a few Sat. morning door stoppers at Canadian Tire, (they sure know how to attrack you daily to their stores) then to Walmart with a quick stop to cost out 2 windows for the front.. I might just make it home by 11 so I can start my play day..
Calling for rain tomorrow so I'll be outside today and plan on finishing my bags tomorrow..
I'm looking forward to the posibility of working from home..here and there I could be working on projects..I've many lined up..my goal for end of September are having the 2 large windows put in the bedrooms, finish the stained glass window hanging and the 3 panels of faux finish washroom trinkets for the closet door..if I can do that then a happy camper I shall be.
Best I go out and eye the shed situation..
No Betty-the shower is on the 28th....I am hoping to get some of the things we actually NEED so Chris doesn't have to sell a kidney on the black market to afford it all-LOL-JK, but seriously, if I get 30 more blankets I am going to pull my hair out. I have mentioned it several times that we already have enough and REALLY need the stuff on the registry no matter if it is handmade or purchased from there. There are several things that can be handmade if you have a pattern that we registered for.
Mary-the other bosses I had with this company in San Jose and Fresno were great, but the one here in MI was TERRIBLE and her supervisor didn't seem to see it. Granted he wasn't there every day and when he did come she put on a little show for him, but both the other gal in the office and I had extended conversations with him on the matter....when I left HR asked me to document things and it ended up being like 6 pages I wrote, plus emails and TM that she'd sent me, so like 12 pages in all....
You have me laughing Stacey, think baby, think blankie...lol just like in the old days when you got married, it wasn't like it is today, it was towels and t-towels..think I still had some floating around on my 25th anniversary, did come in handy though.
Amazing how some when they because supervisors or managers let it go to their head, I manage Space Bank with American Express and had to hire manpower for 3 shifts, big undertaking, but I found the more I gave the more they gave..made managing a division much easier! You get what you give out of people is my thought.
Magnificent Bev..you and Debbie are talking me into going to pick up a sunflower plant for the back deck today in my travels..lol then maybe I can take a photo for you as well..how are you feeling today?
Well, I've managed to move that shed about 2' deeper into the push, not easy..probably need to move it about 3 more feet and I'd be happy..it's a bit on a ravine incline so once where I want it I'll have to level and support with stone/bricks but IT CAN BE DONE..and I'm just the gal that will do it..lol
Almost time to leave, just measured the windows, Bernie told me how I have to go about it so hope what I order fits..could Bernie have done it? yes, but it would be a week or so before he could come to measure, I can have the windows measured and ordered and have them in before he gets here..I am terrible..and I know it..my biggest downfall..
Betty I have green materials for you. Check out the Christmas Block thread......
Goodness Betty, please be careful moving that heavy building by yourself, You don't need to hurt yourself!
Tubby, glad you back with us. You needed 2 units of blood? You must find out why your losing it, please be careful. My hubby was in hopsital last year for a week, due to a bad stomach ulcer that was bleeding. He had to have 9 units of blood!
Ohhh going in search of Tubby's post..am glad we've heard from him..as always we are worried when we don't hear!
LindaKay, dropped into Dan's - he's the man that came with Greg and the guys to move my shed, first thing he said, 'you don't like where we put it did you?' NOPE, it's the correct location but it needed to be set in the very back so it's not noticeable until you happen upon it..don't think he could understand that concept..told him it was almost moved to where I want it and he shook his head, said Greg is going to freek out when he finds out you've moved it yourself...sooo moral of this story, musn't complain about aches/pains for awhile or I'll never hear the end of it..
Managed to put my order in for 2 windows - 60" x 40" and they will arrive she hopes within 2 to 3 weeks so that being said they'll be in by the time the snow flies...last 2 wee ones are bathroom and kitchen, really should measure those and order at same time so the can all be installed in same trip..we'll see...I'll be eating peanut butter and jam if I don't stop with my spending...lol
Could not believe since Thursday how little there is left at fabricland..could find any materials for Dan's boat top..hardly any flannel left, needed a bit more for the rag blanket I'm doing for Jeff's girlfriend..had to incorporate another color..all my rulers are 6" wide, makes it more work when you are cutting 8" blocks so they had a ruler 8 1/2 " which would be perfect, never ever would I have paid $44.99 for it but at 66 1/3% off I splurged..
Went to a few flower places, no go, no pretty sunflower for me, will check in Barrie this week.. thought for sure at the garden center where I got all my veggies/fruits they would but not..
So now groceries put away, I can decide what to do with my day..perhaps put the floor in the shed and maybe even the shelf..
We are definately going to get rain but wether or not it's today not sure...best make the most of the sunshine while it's here...
So everyone, now that I've bored you all to death with my happenings, what are you all doing today!
Whatever it is, sure hope it's excited, if not, restful!
I've been making up pkgs of material to send out to those who asked...three loads of laundry done... 56 half square triangle blocks made...had lunch and now I'm going to read for a while. Sounds like your day has been good too.
Enjoy and relax eveyone if you can......
Omg Barb, your day is going as well as mine..
Sweat pouring off of me, feels as though I've jumped in the lake, that's how humid it's turned, storm brewing but might miss us so think I'll put the sprinkler on just in case...
Cut a big tree limb, lordy almost as big as some of my trees..lol..got the floor put in except for maybe one plank needs to be screwed, wouldn't you know, battery operated drill ran out of juice..guess while it's taking a break, I'll take a break..would mind getting the seat and a few shelves put in and then it's simple to put the tin roof once it's cut to size..need Greg again..he'll be impressed..roflmao
think they went boating according to Kyle but tomorrow is another day
Ask me why I needed this shed...shaking my head..have no idea..guess once I've got shrubs and a continuation of the other garden where they blend together I'll think it's pretty, besides, can put all my summer tools inside for the winter...
Kept looking around as I was putting the floor in, sure smells like skunk..oh/oh hope he doesn't think this is his new home...because I used planking almost 100 years old and this project was meant to have open knots and wide spaces between I'm just not so sure I left a bit more than I should have and will shortly have skunk tennants...
Barb, a lot of the scraps I need for the loon lake projects are odds and sods except for the main background..any greens for trees? something for the turtle, birds etc.? will send postage..
((((((((Tubby & Shirley)))))))))
make sure it's red (blood), white (cells) and blue blood you're getting, Tubby, cuz you strike me as a red white and blue blood kinda guy LOL hmmmm Tubby, as you're the only male in our little group, does that make you a Blue Blood? You're certainly a special kinda guy!!!
I hope you feel better soon. You're starting to do longer posts again (something I watch for), but even 1 or 2 words is great, when it means we hear from you ^_^
Sorry I don't have a Red/White/Blue dog, however this is what you get LOL
Hi y'all! I'm feeling better, I went home from work yesterday at 1. I could have stayed home, but in the morning I felt fine, the longer the day went on, the weaker I got and the worse I felt. I'm doing a lot better today, but there's still room for improvement.
Big big big hugs ((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((TUBBY & SHIRLEY))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))
I don't see anything odd about being a happy bubbly person.
Thanks Kiddo Crissy! (that's your new nickname, btw! lol)
Take care of yourself, hon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tubby, how did I miss your post earlier, losing it for sure..
Bet you are starting to look like a pincushion..and more needles yet to come. See you've typed a few words, how about the 'word of the day' missed it yesterday! How is Shirley doing?
Crissy, sorry you are under the weather as well, keep that up and you'll be slim and trim but not a good way to shed unwanted pounds.
You've 2 days to rest and gain more strength, maybe you should take Monday off as well..hey why don't we all call in with a sick day and we can just chat away.
Sailor has been sick as well, wouldn't you know, the only carpet in the entire house, one I bought what 2 or 3 days ago? hmmm soon to be in the garbage along with the other one..
Know I should shortly be making a decision but it's hard to do so..girls keep telling me she's spry, she's ok but they only see her when she's excited and wants to play ball and uses up all her energy..
Poor carpet, poor Sailor and poor/poor Betty!
Oh Betty...I'm sorry about Sailor...I know how hard it is to make that decision. We need to do what's best for her though.....no matter how tough it is on us.
Lurking as usual!
Joyce is it still as humid at your place? Bet your gardens are spectacular...depressing to see the beautiful flowers all spent..don't you think we should all go out and purchase a bunch of artificial plants and stick them in the ground until the snow comes?
As for Sailor, I'm going to give her a few more weeks and see how she is, maybe it's just 'flu' like symtoms like we have..wouldn't want you to put me down if I only have the flu .. lol.. but I know, soon it's a decision based on her needs and not mine..
Guess I'll check to see if my drill is charged..won't do a whole lot more today as there is much cutting for bench and shelf .. learning to keep some of the 'to do's for tomorrows.
awwww Betty hugs to you and sailor, you will know when the time is "right"
Betty, the garden is starting to suffer..it has "August" symptoms! Joan Day came to lunch on Tuesday, and she says hers is suffering as well. We are getting a brief shower right now and it's been so, so long since we've had any decent rain. Haven't even had any sprinkles! I wish it would rain all night and give us a good soak!
Thunder, it's been awhile since I've seen you post..everything ok? still sewing and keeping out of mischief? lol am sure you are..how's that little sweetie of yours?
Thank you both, yes, just spoke with Darlene my girlfriend who said same, will know when it's time.. last attempt to clean the carpet was with vinegar..I'm sure it will be slightly noticeable but, oh well...that's to be expected when your furries are older. She's laying quietly, almost as though she knows she shouldn't have done it..Was going to give her a cookie but perhaps not.
Susan, so sorry my telephone went on the blink, going to go purchase one that isn't hand held, battery charge don't last long! I thought ok, going to get another telephone from the bedroom, went to switch over and puff you were gone..your are such a delight to talk to....
Joyce, when I was speaking with Susan it started to downpour, not more than 5 minutes and that was it..Darlene said they are calling for a day full of rain tomorrow so that will help somewhat..sure need to do some deadheading and weeding..
Was just telling Susan that I bought 2 silver lace vines, put one at the front of the back deck and one on the side, they won't flower until mid September but omg as I stand looking at them I'm sure they are growing inches..can't keep up entertwining them in the pickets of the deck..
Facing the back yard, can you see all the trailers now reaching up towards the ceiling, have to keep pulling them down..
That will cover before you know it. If you want it to stay unwild just cut them feelers off. They are very hardy just like the white Sweet Autumn Clematis that I am trying to get rid of. It is too invasive just like the trumpet vines, but so beautiful. HUGS BEV
I don't feel too good so see all tomorrow.
Bev you take care and go rest... Tomorrow is another day....
