Kathy, thnanks for letting us know about Dianne. I was not aware that she was sick.
I will be sending a card to the family.

(Karen) Frankston, TX(Zone 8a)

Good morning all! Thanks for the bios....I think I will print them out for reference until I know ya'll better. Cindy, you know one of my daughters is Taylor too? Doug looks like a great guy, I wish you all the best with him. JordanKittyJo, that was me that gave you the chow chow recipe! I was on the Mixed Seed Nuts forum for awhile and tried to start a Canning forum. Health issues caused me to give it up. So glad you liked the Chow Chow! Donna those goblins are terrific! Whomever she is she is a very talented person!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Now just why did I know Jaye would end up shopping? LOL Kim and I got up early to get our errands done as we are expecting triple digits today and no way, no sir did I plan to caught outside in that heat. I might "sweat" and that will just never do. ;-)

Donna, the site is adorable--cute little beasties. Cindy, love the outfit--aren't granddaughters fun? I had a blast shopping with mine this week--only 5 and 7 but they do have their own opinion of what they want to wear.

Cookie, what a gorgeous cat!!! Oh my how sad I am to have missed having my coffee by that pond!!! One of these days I will make it!!!!!!

Kathy, you had better be taking care of yourself !!!! Pssst....is the peach butter ready yet?

Well need to check some other threads and I might just take a nap today.

Ames, NE(Zone 5b)

well, now my secret is out. i make the best chow chow in this neck of the woods, cuz i use karens recipe.

maid m, i haven't did anything with the peaches yet. i did just make a watermelon pie.
spent all morning in the er with my sick daughter. they don't really know what is wrong with her, but said it probly is just a virus. took her to the clinic yesterday, they said it was strep throat. didn't know strep throat made you shake and throw up, and have a rash. so when she called me crying this morning cause she was worse than yesterday, michael told me to talk her to the er .

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Oh Kathy, I do hope she is feeling better.

Well Kim bought some more peaches yesterday and I am to make a cobbler for us and her brother today. Guess I had better get started as the day is passing quickly.
She starts back to work tomorrow so everything is in a panic trying to get re-organized, putting things for her classroom in the car so she doesn't forget, and that type thing. This will an interesting few months as she starts taking classes herself the first of September towards her Specialist degree. Yeah, more money when she finished--needs that to take care of her "aged" Mom. LOL

Let us know how your daughter is doing please.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Wow.. Susan Chi just popped in!!!! Now, Susan, you know we miss you and I do hope you and your family are all okay, including your pups.
If you talked to Kimmie, please tell her NOT to lose any more weight!!

Sis Kathy, I do hope your DD is feeling better. Yes, strep throat and the skin rash can be caused by the same bacteria. Put them together and you have scarlet fever. How do I know this? Happen to talk to my ex' sister in La. Friday evening and she's an older adult!!

Giant armwraps back at you, Judy sistah!!! Just don't squeeze me too hard today!! Bones all sore!!

Well, MaidM.. the house will be quiet in the daytime for you when Kim starts school.
I can smell the cobbler, one of my favorite American desserts.

Would you all believe that after lunch yesterday, we did return to the house??
Yep.. no shopping :P But.. I am thrilled that Kel did weed the beds for me, mow the grass.. prepare stage one for a new lasagna bed (getting ready for fall bulbs) and the rains came just as he finished repotting some plants.
I was hoping that maybe he'd start outlining a pond area for me.. but I'm happy with what he's done.
In the meantime, I cooked field peas and sausage, and that's what we had for supper.
Couldn't come on last night as I snoozed in the recliner!!

Church was kinda empty as the rains hit hard this morning. But the service was good, and so was lunch.
Our favorite family restaurant had sweet potato souffle, it was yummy.
Pureed potato with pecan encrusted topping.. had to give myself extra insulin :D

Love y'all!!! Guess I better sign up for the 3 B swap!!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

I would have to say what Kel did yesterday beats shopping--at least it does to me. Rain was perfect timing I would say. I thought we would get more today but only the thunder. Maybe later as it is still making loud noises here.

Yeap, the house will be quiet but there is part of me that enjoys it and the other part will miss having coffee with her in the mornings. No way am I getting up at 5:30 to have coffee with her once she goes back to work. Sorry DD but not this Mom. LOL

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Don't blame you a bit Maid M if you chose not to wake up @ that hour!
I'm sure, if Kim had the choice, she'd rather have the extra hours of snooze herself.

Good night ... some necessary errands to run in the morning.
Sleep well everyone.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I just got this sent in an email. She has gained 8 ounces, and is doing very well. She has a small cyst on her lungs, but a lot of preemies do. They will do a cat scan in the morning to determine what it is. Most of them will go away on thier own.. She now weighs 1 pound and 14 ounces! She finally opened her eyes.

Awww.. thanks for the update LK.
God sends His angels to keep watch over our Lillie Marie..♥

This one shows how tiny she is. That is her Momma's hand on her head

Awwwww...prayers continue....

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Oh LK, how precious. I am glad to hear she is gaining weigh and thanks for posting the pictures.

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

she is so cute. still sending prayers

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Thanks everyone. She is so tiny and precious! Dr.'s sadi that her gaining 8 ounces in two weeks is very good for a preemie. Plus she wiggles and kicks alot, and that is also a good sign.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

The more active she is the faster she will gain weight too. Her metabolism must be fantastic... Thanks LK for the pictures. and my prayers continue...

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

I don't know anything about preemies, but if she's active and gain some weight...then she must be doing good!

Morning everyone.

Cookie, your "Sinus Valley" is tame compared to here. The rains and heat is turning this hamlet into Sinus Torture!
Thank God for Zyrtec.
I keep forgetting to send you the fusible material. Will get that one out asap.

We were just moaning on the heats and now we have frequent rains. Great for the plants but the ants are thriving!! Have to go and get some poison as there are mounds everywhere!!
Unfortunately, they build their mounds in a couple flower beds!!
What do you all do with your ants? I tried cornmeal, but there are too many of them!!
Poison it is...

(Chris) Des Moines, IA(Zone 5a)

LK, so glad that the wee one is doing so well! Miracles come in small packages :)

Susan..what a treat to see you posting on here..I've been thinking about you, girl! Hope you're doing ok..

Karen, welcome to this little group..they are the best in the world!

I'm Chris..56 years old and became a widow last year. After hubby passed away, I moved from Oklahoma back here to Iowa to be near my kids. My son lives in Des Moines with his very special girlfriend (I'm waiting impatiently for them to marry!) and he has full custody of his son. My daughter just moved to Iowa City with her brood lol.. between son, daughter and son in law, I have 8 grandkids.. 13, two 12 yr olds, 11, 10, 6, 5 and 9 months old :) Kailey, who's doing the motorboat sound in the picture up above, is the 9 month old. I love to scrapbook and do nature photography..I have one spoiled rotten cat named Miss Sarah. I live in an upstairs apartment, so no outside gardens anymore for me.. I'm doing my best to have some houseplants, but I've discovered that I'm really good at killing them off LOL.. I do advocacy work for the Domestic Violence Shelter and Sexual Assault Center and will be getting my certification hopefully before the end of the month :) To be certified involves over 80 hours of training and ongoing consultations plus counseling sessions.

Good morning all, and thanks again for the warm welcome! I've had a good week, I've been puttering around the internet looking at those expensive EZ CLONE machines that root plant cuttings in less than a week....I want one SO BAD! I also looked in the home made versions, but I just don't have the oomph to fool with those. Maybe I can find a used EZ Clone somewhere. I want something to root cuttings quickly and well because I will have friends soon sending me terrific hibiscus cuttings in the fall. My MIL is giving me her Aerogarden tomorrow, I think I will begin by trying to use it for rooting and see how it works. Do any of you have experience with a cloner?

I am also asking for prayer this week for a private battle......I recently lost around 70 pounds, and for the first time in MANY years am at my perfect weight of 135. I have diabetes, so being overweight was really bad for me. I enjoyed the healthy feeling of the new body, the compliments and surprise of people who saw me, the way my body looks, and the way that clothes fit after all these years. So what did I do? What I sadly, always do........I began binge eating again recently. Cakes, cookies, pies,.......I have already regained 10 pounds. I have done this my entire adult life. I am ashamed and sickened as I crave and binge and gain the weight back but do it anyway as the scale goes up instead of down. I am really struggling with this and would appreciate your thoughts and prayers as I fight to keep this under control and stay healthy. ......sigh.....if only we did not have to eat to live it would not be so darn hard, lol!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Attention all G'mas and Mothers. We need more baby pictures here!!
I'd post a baby pic of myself, but I can't find one.

Karen, you got me curious on EZ clone. I'm terrible too at rooting. Is it costly?
I'm diabetic too, had gained 70 lbs...but the bulk of that is from a brand insulin and Lyrica.
You are truly a hero in my eyes, losing that much weight. Don't berate yourself for gaining 10 pounds. So, you jumped the wagon!!
You're just human. But you're already getting back on the right track by first admitting your mistake.
I'll pray that He fortifies your strength and determination to stick to living healthy.

I'm sure you got rid of all that's not healthy for you?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

http://shop.ebay.com/i.html?_trkparms=65%253A15%257C66%253A4%257C39%253A1&_nkw=ez+clone&_dmd=1&_ipg=200&_sc=1&_sticky=1&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_sop=16&_sc=1

Here is the ez clone on ebay! Not cheap. I have never heard of them before? How do they work?

Karen ditto what Jaye said. Sending lots of thoughts and prayers to you. It is not easy sticking to a diet. Everyone falls off every now and then. Just keep posting here, and we will all try to keep each other on track!

Jaye, what is the name of the sewing book, Thunder was looking for?

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Are you referring to the diamond LC? Think it's one by Eleanor Burns... don't recall the title. You know how bad my CRS is.
See that Karen.. not only am I losing my figure.. I'm losing my brains!!!

Dear Lord.. that's too much for my blood LK!! I can get more fabrics with that!!

Karen, if you could find a home made version of EZ Clone, I'm sure Chris would be interested.. at the rate she's killing her houseplants!!

(Karen) Frankston, TX(Zone 8a)

Thanks Jaye and Linda Kay for the support. It is so hard. I am looking at the cheaper end EZ clones....30 plant sites for around $225.00.... Not the larger 60 or 120 port ones. You can get other brands than ez clone less costly. Basically they are a spray mist system, hydroponics.....Here is one of many threads on DG where you can see a picture. You poke the cuttings down into the top and they hang down where they are misted continuously and grow roots.....it is supposed to be fool proof.

http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/669745/?hl=EZClone

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Don't think that is the one. You gave a link to it, but I can't find it. It is a new one she just came out with. I think it was ends and pieces or something like that

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Ahhhhh.. that's by Bonnie Hunter!! You have to order from her directly.
She lives in NC. Kel's getting that book for me.
Wanna take a peek once it's here?

www.quiltville.com

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

That is the one. I would love to take a peek. Thanks

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Sure will LK. I'm saving scraps now since I was introduced to that site!

Karen, I checked that out.. you also need a heating mat.
It's interesting, better if you could get a used one.
We can get Parks' Biodome for starting seeds... and now this for cuttings.
It would be advantageous for you if you were to start a plant business.

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Karen,

I am currently going to Curves to lose weight. I am about 40 pounds over my ideal weight, and because of arthritis I need to lose it. I have a horrible sweet tooth and love to pig out on chips, cookies and candy especially chocolate. I have found other sweets that are healthy and taste just as good as the unhealthy ones. I drink a lot of Lipton Green Tea, eat more fresh fruits and veggies. So if you want to binge think "HEALTHY" and you will be just as satisfied. I still have my chocolate though, I limit myself to 2-6 Hersey's Kisses a day and I am statified ^_^. Another thing I eat is cough drops they curb the appetite and the craving for more sweets. Whenever I get the urge I just suck on one of those and I'm good for hours. I like Hall's Honey and Lemon. And drink lots of water that helps fill me up. Of course this doesn't work for everybody.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Cindy, those are good tips.
Thanks.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Wasp nest anyone? I was wondering why there were so many around, and then found all these under the car port! 10 in all!

Thumbnail by taters55
Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Oh gosh, LK...be careful!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

They are all dead, I sprayed them wasp spray! Does anyone make flower arrangements? LOL!
