Thank you again sistahs!! I'm telling you.. this is the bestest b'day ever!!
Cindy, I can assure you the rafters had heard worse and survive!! Well, you just celebrate my b'day along with my Singapore family. They're a day ahead!
Take a nap Cindy. Be sure to set the alarm for Saturday morning!!
Thunder I can't imagine you're not going to replace your SS card. What if you decide to go for a well deserved anniversary honeymoon overseas?? Or one of those quilting cruises?? You'll be needing a passport.. and that requires a SS card!! Go look for it sistah!
We go through crazy stuffs with all these red tapes. When I first applied to come here legally about 34 years ago, even my marriage cert. wasn't enough!! It took me 10 months before I step on USA soil!
All the paperwork!!
Okay sistahs.. this is the crocheted tablecloth I've been given.
It's made of the finest crochet thread and is 4ft X 6ft!! The colors are all in the softest pastel and the stitches are uniform!!
I'm so scared to use it as I have all these wild kitties!! But Kel say we'll have a cat free room one day!! Hmm.. I'm thinking..kitties adoption?
۞ Sweet Interruptions ۞196
Jaye , Happy Birthday and much happiness and blessings always. your tablecloth is beautiful..
This afternoon, the mailman brought me a box. As you all know, normally all boxes go to the shop.
But this time, Kel told him to just bring it to me.
My sister from France surprised me with a new fragrance from Givenchy, "Flora", a little froggie stone that will fit my coin purse, lots of antibiotics (she get hers for nothing) and that means fabric for me!!
And some cans of pate'.. which I'll enjoy till next Christmas!!
So all I need is a bottle of wine right?
Guess what.. I do love good Cabernets. Have some bottles aging in our wine cooler and the last time I drank some wine was with Cookie.
Do you all blame me for suddenly wanting to empty a bottle tonight celebrating my 55th?
Ehem.. it's Cabernet Sauvignon, Reserve from the cellars of Turning Leaf and 1997.
Lord says in moderation.. but I know He'll understand what this b'day means to me (giggling here). Celebrating life!
To all my sistahs who have made my life so special with your good company.. as I fill the wine glass.. I'll toast to all.. "Thank you for being my sistahs. May you all enjoy good health.. good fortunes.. and especially lots of laughter"
Thank you Twyla!!
Darn good (sorry Betty....I got to use 'darn') for a 13 year old Cabernet!!
It's soooooo smooooooooooooooth.
Cindy wish you could have some.. it will help you sleep. Lol!!
Well, if I'll keep toasting till the bottle's almost empty. Don't you all worry now. I ate a big steak earlier so my tummy's full. If there's still some left.. it will make a good stock for beef stew ;)
I seriously doubt that!!!!!!
Ah, Jaye you can drink some for me in honor of the day after your birthday. Hope all have a good day--we are under heat advisories already today. Guess it will be inside for sure for this sistah.
this sistah will be inside too. way to hot here.
I am about to forget what rain is.
me thinks it comes from the sky
LOL Jaye glad to hear you celebrated your birthday well. I'm not much of a wine drinker, but I do use it alot to cook with. I use it in place of water, for instant in speghetti sauce, or when I cook a roast in the crock pot.
LOL, last night was almost asleep when I heard someone knocking on my bedroom window. It was my mom,(she had been at my daughter's babysitting) I was a bit disoriented as I had taken a pain pill. And I couldn't hear what she was saying cuz I didn't have my hearing aid in. Anyhooooooooo.... I finally got the drift of what she was trying to tell. She said "Don't go open your bedroom door there is a SKUNK in the living room" OMG!!!!! My door was open just a little so I slammed it shut and pounded on the door, hoping to scare the skunk away. How in the heck did a skunk get in the house???? In order to get into the house from the door that we always use you have to go into laundry room. This is where we keep the cat's dish of food. So when mom came home she had sat her purse and things on the floor so she could unlock the door. She gets the door open, and picks up all of her stuff and walked into the dinning area to set stuff on table. Well the only lights on are night lights, so mom could not see very well and she had thought the cat had gooten in so she was saying "Mia, Mia get out" she turned on the light and heading towards her was the skunk, ( it had walked down the hall towards my bedroom). She ran out the side door and propped the screen door open. That is when she ran around the house and knocked on my bedroom window. Here I am a prisoner in my bedroom not knowing where the little critter is. So I called my daughter and was going to have her and SIL come over, but mom had gotten the neighbor lady. They looked all around outside then slowly came in the house searching. It must have ran out when I pounded on the door.
We are still trying to figure out how the little critter got in the house ahead of mom and mom not getting sprayed. So from now on before it gets dard we are closing all DOORS!!! We have the doggie dog locked because we don't want Mia coming in anymore and bringing FLEAS!!!!!
OMG Cindy-you had me crackin up this am!!!
Tante-so sorry I missed it but HAPPY LATE BDAY!!! I wasn't on yesterday, so I only found it this am when I got on...
Joyce that is funny about the shade garden!! I have a TON of stuff in my shade areas, and only a couple are hostas;) Jacob's Ladder, heuchera, toad lilies, monkshood, tiarella, brunnera, forget me nots, goats beard, astrantia, astilbe, japanese painted ferns, campanula (can take am sun), bleeding heart, hakone grasses, trillium......I also hope Birtie's surgery went OK
Jaye I am so glad you had a great birthday!!!!!! You deserve it!!!!
OMG Cindy!! It apparently didn't feel threatened since it didn't spray, maybe thought your mom was it's mom too! You know you can get the spray gland removed and make them pets, they're just like a house cat. LOL Now that would be a sight! I'm glad it didn't spray anything, that crap is hard to get out! My mom's Beagle got sprayed and they let him in the house without realizing it until it was too late and he was wallering around on the carpet, yea eeeewwwwwwww.
EWWW!!! a skunk for a pet NO THANK YOU, LOL
I remember years ago my cousin and her husband had a gunny sack with some baby skunks in it and man did it stink. I think they were still young enough to where they didn't spray but still they stunk.
Last year befor I moved back in with mom, I had come up here early in the morning for something. Well it was about 6ish and daylight I was walking towards the back yard and I saw something move from behind the oak tree. OMG!!! a skunk, I could not get out of there fast enough. He scared me and I scared him, he took off running thru the old ckicken yard and out thru a hole he had dug under the fence.
I was talking with the neighbor lady morning and she said one night she heard something on her back patio, turned on the light and there was a skunk with its tail all fluffed out but it didn't spray. They are thick as fleas around here. Need to see what I can spray to keep them out of the yard.
And the deer have trimmed my Morning Glories AGAIN!!!! They don't eat the flowers though. And she even ate the leave off of the Holly Hocks but not the flowers. So I am going to put up some wire and hang cd's to keep her out.
awww... happy BELATED birthday, dear Jaye!!! Sounds like you had a very nice one and that tablecloth is out of this world! My mom did a lot of crocheting, so I know how much time, effort and LOVE went into the making of it :) You are very loved, my friend!
Cindy, I'm cracking up over your skunk story.. and Crissy is right..you're so lucky that you didn't scare it enough to spray when you pounded on the door!
When I moved here to Iowa last August (it's been almost a year? wow), in order to change my driver's license (which wasn't even up for renewal yet!) from Okla to Iowa..I had to have a certified birth certificate..which I didn't have! Thank goodness TX allows you to order it online, which I did..cost around $25 to get it. I was already in the Iowa system, but under a different last name, so I also had to show my marriage certificate. Luckily I had changed my SS card when I married in Okla!
Yep, they're very serious about keeping the terrorists out of this state!
Better get back to work..have a great day everyone! And since I know how Jaye loves seeing my DGD.. here's one just for her :) Kailey's learned to make the "motorboat" sound, so that's what she was doing.. kinda like blowing a raspberry LOL
Most of you know I recently moved from Michigan to Ohio. When I went to get my new driver's license they said they needed my CERTIFIED birth certificate (the one with the seal on it), my social security card, and since it was in my maiden name they needed to see my marriage license and my divorce papers. I had to make at least three trips in to get all of this information and have the right papers.
Since so many people seem to be able to get false papers so easily, it makes me wonder who we are getting protected from with all of these new regulations?
Good morning all! After weeks of lurking, I decided to drop by and introduce myself. I am Karen, from Texas. I know Linda Kay personally, as well as Phyllis (Mibus). I only live about 10 miles from Phyllis. It has been hard for me too keep up with ya'll, there are so many threads, what with the reunions at Cookies threads! Is this the main one though?
Here is my bio just to let you know a little more about me;
I'm not your "average" 48 year old! My body may be getting older but my mind and heart still thinks it's 1979! I think I will always be an aging hippy! I'm an avid gardener and live in the yard most of the time. My favorite flowers are named Tropical Hibiscus, and I grow lots of vegetables as well as canning them. I have a greenhouse and find the most joy out of growing everything from seeds, including all of my vegetables. I also enjoy reading, gardening, canning and dehydrating produce, crocheting, making homemade wines and jellies, making bread, painting, crafts and remodeling and decorating, creating beauty out of nothing....That's what I'm best at; creating something beautiful out of nothing. I have 2 beautiful daughters who are my reason for living, Chelsea, 23 and Taylor 21. Two little Boston Terrier girls that are almost as loved as my daughters, Raynee and Maddy. And my husband Jerry who I let stick around because he's sort of grown on me, LOL! Just kidding hon.... I am kind to all and very tender hearted. I'm an ultimate people pleaser that forgets to take care of herself sometimes.
I have no grandchildren yet, my two daughters live and work in the city of Dallas, Texas. My oldest daughter is a professional artist that draws 3D characters for video games for PlayStation and such. Just hubby and me and two little Bostons at home now.
I hope to get to know all of you better...Thanks for letting me drop by! Love, Karen
Welcome Karen, we are glad to have you join us and not just lurk. I live in north Florida, 2 grown children--daughter and son; 2 granddaughters and 1 cat. I am older but age is only numbers put together to upset some and just there for others. I love to garden, although I don't do it to the extent you do--to many trees and to much shade. I love to sew with quilting being my main interest. I hope you enjoy sharing with our group--sometimes we are nuts and other times..well if you have lurked I am sure you know. LOL
Marion
First and foremost... Welcome Karen!!
You're a beautiful lady and made more beautiful when, especially you are a people pleaser.
Boy... you're in good company!!
We call ourselves sistahs over here, but we do have a couple of nieces on acct. of their ages.
We tend to address each other by our first names and I'm sure pretty soon you'll catch on.
Enjoy yourself, thank you for the bio.. and personally, I envy those that are skilled in drawing, like your daughter.
We've been missing Phyllis here and another Tx. from Dallas, BJ Wilson. Thank God, this room here can accomodate more Texan belles!!
Pretty sure Phyllis must have told you one odd rule we have here.
You see that red sofa in the corner? That's for Maid M's aka Marion aka Abbisgranma when she's sent there. She's been behaving lately.. must be the vicodin!!
Cindy.. that's too funny!!!! Yes, those doors ought to be locked not only to keep the skunks away but it's not too safe nowadays anyway.
Not here.. too many drug addicts.
You're lucky the skunk didn't spray the house. You both might have to camp out until the scent is taken care of! Then that will be a hoot for your poor mum!!
At least the deers just wanted to forage your garden and not try to get in the house! Lol.. poor you!
Oh I need that "rolling over laughing" icon!!! You don't get tired at watching Kailey doing raspberries eh Chris?
If only it's possible to just reach into the screen and drag her out.
Then I'll have Malena that way too.
Thanks Chris, for sharing that precious picture with us.
Janice, (for Karen's benefit: Ladydragon5 who's Stacey's aka Fairy MIL) sadly with all the new securities to 'protect' our id.. we know that someone somewhere with the right $$ can still find ways to avoid all these.
I'll be busy returning phone calls today. Kel's paying me to do this job!! Oh boy, more fabrics :D
Now Jaye, that wasn't very nice--I am a very good lady-most of the time. LOL
Odd with all the security needed to renew licenses and other things. Just yesterday I was reading the Gainesville paper on line where they are having trouble with a theft ring putting chips on the gas pumps that steal information from cards used to pay for gas. The article said they had found 25 stations (if my memory has gone bad) where this was happening. I sometimes think we can't see the forest for the trees. That is my opinion anyway.
aaaahuuum
What about the men.......................................................................
Tubby
Men? What is that? LOL
Ain't that something, Maid M. Prime example of a When there's a will there's a way!
Sorry Tubby...
Karen, he's our "Special" Bro!!
(Bless his heart ♥)
Yes it is and one of the stations I used when I am down there was one on the list. No more--will go inside to pay and not at the pumps. I am just not that clever to think of ways to do things like that. Takes to much brain matter and I have better things to do with mine.
He is standen NEXT to the sistas.............................................................
ROFLM(Chinese)Behind Off!!!!!!!
Tubby... you sure stand funny!!
WELCOME KAREN! i'm kathy the sistah they always fegets about. they had me eating worms yesterday
Oh sorry about that! I just thought that was a poster. Hasn't been one in so long around here I just forgot. LOL
....but I didn't tell you to eat the whole bunch and make yourself sick!!! How are you feeling these days?
Not me, Sis.. I didn't tell you that..
here have some wine. Good for your digestive system.
Fine
Just coduant pass..................
Okay so I will know now we have a brudder in our midst.
Good and don't forget it.....................................
Just joking..........
besides having a sore butt, and sick of dr. appointments i'm feeling better. the heart medication is keeping my heart in rytham, so maybe i can sneak away for a couple days soon. of course maid m, you still owe me a visitation
Hmm... I like that.. Brudder...
That's what Judy calls Kel.. Brudder.
Hey Brudder Tubby!!
And where are you sneaking off to, Sis. Pray tell.
As long as it's not anything in the hot sun!
about time you acknowledged me sis. was beggining to think you disowned me
Karen.
Welcome to the group......
Don't take any of this to serious.(just joking)
Tubby
Marion we had the same thing happen here where I live. A guy I know that owns a gas station somehow put in some device that stops theres ppl from doing this. A notice was on the front page of our local newspaper to pay inside and not use cards until ALL gas stations updated there pumps. So far the two stations that I use have updated theirs and it is now safe to use ATM cards at the pump. We also have ones where we can put cash in. I like that becasue there is always a huge line when I go inside to pay.
I just knew when the picture of the pretty girl showed up that Tubby wouldn't be far behind!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ^_^
Welcome, Karen...I'm Cookie. (Did somebody say cookie?????)
Glad to have you. Always room for another sister, gardener, pet lover, good allaroundgal. :O)
I took some seeds from Phyllis' house when we were in Texas last year. The wind took one of the little packages, but the other one is blooming its' little heart out. I thought I had gotten two different dianthus, but the one that bloomed is Larkspur. So I'm hoping it self seeds, but I may collect some just in case it doesn't. If you see Phyllis, tell her we said, COME HOME! We miss her. (BJ, too.) Doesn't she just have the best dogs ever?
I promise not to forget. Just remember though, age brings on senility. LOL
BTW, what was I not to forget.
Ditto, same as Cookie said, tell Phyllis we miss her and get back here--bring Milly too. I wants my doggie.
