I am so bad.. Karen Welcome you will enjoy the conversatuions that go on here. And I always like to see faces of the peeps I chat with. So with that being said I am posting mine so you will know who I am.(this was taken a year ago)

And there is nothing wrong with being "An aging hippie" I am a "Old Biker Mama" I've been riding motorcycles since I was 12 and love Harleys (although my Honey has a Kawisaki) but I love riding with him.

Ok ladies and gents, post your pix so Karen can put faces with the names.

Hey KAren, glad to see youpopping in here. COme back when you can. I know there are so many threads to try to keep up with!
Jaye, looks like you ha da great Birthday! Love that table cloth, even if there is "P" in it!

Hey Tubby! Glad to see you here too! Your always welcome here! SOunds like your doing well?

Cindy, I can't believe you had a skunk in the house! Glas he did not "perfume" it for you!
Years ago, I lived in a trailer with ex, and one night a beaver and a skunk got under it, and were fighting. Well, the beaver one the fight, but not till after it sprayed everything. It took months to get the smell out of everything! PEW!!!

I am back from the back Dr, and all is well. We had an excellent dinner from Outback. I had coconut shrimp, and french onion soup, hubby had a ribeye, french fries, and a ceasar salad! YUM!!!

(Karen) Frankston, TX(Zone 8a)

Thank you all for the warm welcome, I can tell already I'm going to love it here! I have not talked to Phyllis in quite awhile, since the May RU; I will have to call her soon and tell her to get her buns on here!

Tubby, I think I know you perhaps from the vegetable forums last year....Did I perhaps mail you some Noon Day sweet onions last year? If so, did you enjoy them? I am beginning to "wind down" on the gardening....My yard is drying up and the flowers are all beginning to set seed and die, regardless of watering. Leaves are falling and the pecans are getting big on the trees. I am sure ready for Fall this year. I take alot of medications and am not in real great health for someone my age, and the heat just kills me this time of year. Where I live in Texas the heat index has been 105-115 each day for weeks....

Cindy what a beautiful picture of you! I love it girl! Where is Auburn at? I love Cali, wish I could visit there soon...I have a dear friend in Lake Elsinore.

Karen, Thank you but I don't look that good right now, lol. I've been outside working I am stinky and covered with mud. I dug up an old tree stump that was rotted and had Siberian Iris' pack around it. And I mean packed. No one has touched these things in the 35 years that we have been here. Man what a chore that was. Now I have to transplant the buggers somewhere ugh :(
Auburn is about 40 miles east of Sacramento and about 80 miles west of Reno, NV.

Lake Elsinore is about 475 miles west of Auburn about 7 hour drive.

We are having normal California weather too. Low 90's until sometime next week. It is awesome usually we are in the triple digets and having horrible fires so far there is only one bad fire that I know of in Los Angeles. KNOCK ON WOOD!!!!

(Karen) Frankston, TX(Zone 8a)

Yep it was me Tubby, I went back and looked at my old emails...Noonday Onions are world famous for being real sweet...I mailed you some babies last year to plant. You sent me money to pay for them, I bought them and mailed them to you. Oh well, hope they were good even if you don't remember them, lol!

Cindy I forget Cali is like Texas; it is a BIG state! Lots of area to cover. Sounds like you had a job with that tree stump and Iris....I have a couple of major chores I'm putting off until Sept/Oct when it is a little cooler I think.

Evening everybody!

Hello Karen and to the brudder as well..

OMG you guys had me giggling with the skunk stories.. teehee My friend in high school had a pet albino skunk and she really was much like a cat.. Th efirst time I saw her I almost jumped outta my skin because my friend thought it would be funny not to tell me about her. Then all of a sudden out from unde rthe ouch I was sitting on he wandered .. I think I touched the cieling... LOL she was fixed and had her scent glands removed.. a lover for sure but I woulnt want one..

My back is starting to recover and the mall easy landscaping jobs are falling back into place as soon as Im healed and ready to return even if its only a hour a day I have people waiting so thats great news.
We have been crazy busy here today trying to get ready for the trip tomorrow to pick up Mr King Tut himself.. Truck is gassed up, tires are aired, oil checked and the kids have fresh gameboy batteries.. lol
I will post pics of him as soon as we all get ettled if I dont make it back before we head out to pick him up. ..

Here's a pic of me from last year.. Just dont have any recent ones..

darkmoondreamer, how did I come up with that one? Well, it just came to mind one day, and I liked the way it sounded. I love a good, full bright moon and hate it when it is obstructed by clouds... I have stood under many dark moons in my life that were clouded in sorrow and pain, and never thought they would ever shine brightly again, but I still managed to keep on dreaming that things would get better someday. So I am the darkmoondreamer!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Cookie may be on to something there.... perhaps if you had included a pic of yourself with the seeds, to brudder Tubby there, Karen.. he'd remember it well!!! And most probably Shirley, his DW would thank you for the diversion!! Lol!!

Love that moniker you coined, Karen. We have the "Moon" in you to remind us of our frailties and if we cling on to "Hope" aka Twyla ...we'll soon have "Sunshine" aka Cookie.. aka JoyceT!!

Cindy, it's so cool that you still enjoy riding bikes and you're still lovely!

Donna, you have to remind yourself to be careful of your back and not get caught up with the excitement when you see Zuce. You know how those Dobies are. They're rather strong.

LK, I'm yet to try Outback's prime rib. Neighbours said it's the best there.

Sis Kathy.. you know you won't let me forget you!! You love me too much!!!

See you all tomorrow ladies. Surprise with this statement?
Kel says we're probably staying home tomorrow as he said he wanted to do some weeding..mow the grass..etcetra.. etcetra
Hmm.. wonder if that will happen when the temps hit the high 90's tomorrow. But then I have HOPE!!!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

I for one say you will end up on a shopping trip. LOL

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

I for two, say she will end up on a shopping trip, and eating out!! beautiful table cloth!!

WELCOME Karen, glad you decided to "speak up" I was a long time lurker too, so very happy I finally got the courage to speak up here, as these are the best-est of "sistahs" any one could ever hope for !!!!!!!!!!!!! if you are happy about something they are here to share in your joy, and when you down.....they be right here cheering you up....

I am thunder, Married to one of the greatest guys in the world!! 3 marvelous sons, one very awesome grand daughter........I do a little garden stuff , but mostly I quilt, and quilt some more!!!!
funny you said "aging Hippie" I have been called "native Hippie" (for Native American) I forget to take care of myself too!!! thank goodness hubby is around to feed me, or I would just keep sewing!!!
I have a dog, a cat and two parrots. on the rare occasion hubby can drag me away from the sewing machine....we do like to go for a motorcycle ride............I think the beach is the best place to spend a day......(do have to get away from the sewing machine once in a while) LOL unfortunately I am still a member of the working world, and do so 2-11pm so I pop in late at night, and catch up on every ones day......

Jaye, speaking of grand daughter!!!! she walked all the way across the kitchen floor yesterday!!!! look out world here comes Miss M....

Karen-WELCOME!!! I am Stacey or Tink, or Niece. I think I am the youngest at 33 and am pregnant with our first baby which has been an exciting event here. My DH and I tried for 7 years and then pow-it just happened:) We are expecting Jonathan Gabriel in Oct and are very excited. Waiting for the baby shower MIL is throwing so we know what else we need to turn in our change to buy. My MIL is Ladydragon5 aka Janice and her and I are very close. She is a quilter and trying to get me into it. I mainly do painting things and odd ball craft items. I used to love to do the swaps, but I lost my job and that was the end of that. Haven't been creative in a while, but am sure the bug will hit me again very soon. I also love to write. Have been too preoccupied with baby stuff to do much of anything else recently though....

I don't know what else to tell except my DH is Chris and we have a Pug named Ruby and a cat named Jade who I am sure are both going to have a hard time adjusting to the new family member. The ladies on here have been wonderful and I have gotten several awesome things for the baby and have a few more in the works which I can't wait to see the results:)

Lets see if I can find a pic...well, here are my girls:)

Good Morning Everyone,

Geeze maybe I should tell Karen something about myself. Ok here goes: I am 55 and a widow for 5 years now. I have one daughter married with 2 beautiful grandchildren, Kain 15 and Taylor 8. I live with my 83 year old mother, who is very active ( bolws 3 times a week) I love butterflies and purple is my favorite color, hence my DG name purpbutfly.
I sew (mostly Barbie clothes lately) and do all kinds of other crafts too. If I see something I like I'll try if it turns out good I'll make more. Right now my main passion is making soy candles. I do A LOT of gardening. Have a 1/3 of an acre to keep up, mom does a little here and there. She is recoving from a complete knee replacement and it doing quit well.
In March I met this wonderful guy named Doug and we are spending time together riding, camping and doing some wood crafts, teaching him the difference between a weed and a flower so he can help with the yard work when he comes up to visit. He recently asked me to marry him but I told him no not for at least 3 or 4 years. Here is a pix of us on March 1st when we met for the first time.

Jaye beings you love seeing pix of babies. Here is my all time favorite of Taylor when she was 6 months old

Now 7 1/2 years later on birthday in the shoes and dress I got her. I didn't think her or my daughter would like the shoes but they did. As a matter of fact Taylor wore that outfit the rest of the day, lol. Dress is a little short so she will have to wear some shorts under it for school.

Cindy-that is the cutest pic!!!

My mom is soooo funny!! She just called me giggling-she went to this, I guess you could call it a giant rummage sale (her area in GA has a spring and fall one-both completely dedicated to babies/children), and it runs from Thur-Sat, with Sat being 1/2 off. She called to tell me all the cute stuff she got. She doesn't really like his first name so she always calls him Gabe. She is out of work, so she rolled up all of her change she'd been saving for this and said "OMG (giggle, giggle) I just spent $52 and got a ton of cute stuff for Gabe (giggle, giggle). It was so much fun and I found so many cute things for him (giggle, giggle) (she then starts to name some stuff). Everything was such a great deal and I got so much for my money!!" There was a little more to the convo, but you get the gist. She was too cute!!LOL She plans to go back every spring and fall until he is too big for the stuff they sell there. Gotta love a first time Grandma!!LOL
