happy birthday mindy littlenettie
Thanks for the birthday wishes everyone. I've had a lovely quiet day like I wanted to have. Mekos thanks for the yummy looking cake makes my third one today.
DH gave me money to spend and bought me a lilac butterfly bush and another pot with four different kinds of flowers in it and left me alone to have my quiet day. My best friend gave me a 4 drawer organizer for my yarn and it's filled already and a cake shaped like a puppy very cute frosted with my favorite icing. Al sent me beautiful flowers in my favorite color.
You Deserve it all dear Girl. Glad you had a great day.
Happy Birthday Mindy, glad you got to enjoy your day..It continues to be extremely hot and dry here..A few of my flowers continue to bloom but the heat is taking its toll..I spent all of last week helping plan and prepare for a sports banquet for the Jr and Sr football teams.. We raised 4000.00 for the booster club..School starts this Thursday, Im excited and apprehensive at the same time..Between football and booster club activities im sure I will stay plenty busy..Hope you all are doing well..

mekos here is the paper cutting up their you can,t tell much about it love nettie
Nettie, That is just beautiful! Did you do that? OH MAN! What a talent! I love it. There are little cupids in there with their bows and all the flowers. WOW! Just beautiful!
Here is my bog garden I made and the water Iris is blooming. It is yellow and like nothing I ever saw. I'm going to take it to the ID thread and see if anyone can ID it for me. The others are pitcher plants and sundews and a few of white star grass and a couple other plants. One of the others is about to bloom also. Tiny round ball on top of the grass-looking spikes.
I believe those bloom a dark yellow too.
Well, that went fast. It is a Lachnanthes Caroliniana-bloodroot or Redroot.
A WEED! My friend sent me a weed to put in my bog with my plants! It was supposed to be an Iris. Now I know it is time to quit. Whew! Weeds for plants.
Edited to say, it's a good thing it isn't hardy here for me, I guess it will die out this winter. Only hardy to zone 8. I'm in 7.

Beautiful paper cutting Nettie!
LOL mekos - only you can grow such pretty weeds! All my bog plants are toast I believe, unless they decide to come back when it cools off... I provided the bog and plenty of wetness and shade but I think the heat was too much. If I had an actual pond and microclimate in that pond I might be successful with them... Maybe someday - a pond is on my wish list so bad!
mekos thank you you can cut those out my 12 year old gd can cut them it takes some time but it is a cheap craft i cut on a old window pane that i got ata t yard sale i like to use parchment paper when i can find it i would love to shair my patterns ive got alot of patterns love nettie,
Well, I just ordered a bunch of seeds of sundews and fly catchers (VFT) from E-bay tonight and gonna try to get Seray IF she has time to sprout some for us and maybe add to our bogs. Sounds like a new game coming on!
I can't believe it is a weed. It looked so pretty blooming. OH WELL! Good night, got to slap the sack!
Nettie, that is Beautiful and so much work. No wonder you won!!!!!!
thank you rrm the paper cuttings keep me in smothing to do in the winter don,t like to not have something to do. love and take care nettie.
I've got to finish my quilt and paint somemore birdhouse gourds this winter. Being as how I can't garden year round in KY. Boy do I miss Calif's round the year gardening.
Pretty Robin!
When I get around to downloading my pics from the trip, I have a rose I'm hoping you might be able to help me identify. My Mom dug it up years ago from an old farm, so I assume it's a wild rose. Beautiful hot pink blooms with real rose smell! Problem is it has a lot of dead canes (and black spot - but I told her about that - lol) and it needs to be pruned so it looks better. Problem is not knowing what kind it is I don't know when/how to tell her to prune it. I know there are different ways and times depending on the rose, but I know so little about them. Hopefully you or someone can ID it for me;o)
Nope, though I've seen that one and ♥ it! The blooms are, how do I say this, ruffled? Big and ruffled - lol...
Remember my beautiful Daylilies from Seray? Well, my pic of Jungle Beauty I submitted to Plant Files was chosen as Bloom of the Day for today! How cool is that? I took sooooooooooo many pictures of that baby trying to capture the true color!

Congratulations. I saw that picture of Jungle Beauty and fell in love. Will add it to my wish list for next year.
If anyone wants to buy some daylilies cheap- all named, my friend has a big daylily garden and has agreed to let me sell some for 2.00 each and you pay for shipping. I would have to pick up the lilies from him and ship them myself but that is CHEAP for those. I have seen them in bloom many times and each time I pass by his gardens, I have to stop in and lust/ I mean look at them. If you would like to see what he has let me know and I'll send you a list.
WOW Loca, what an Honor! Congratulations.
I'll send you the list and you can look them up and see what they look like. He has over 700 varieties but will only part with 60 varieties and 4 of each. I just got 10 and going to pick them up Friday. I got doubles and frilly and edged and dark reds and all kinds. He hybridizes them and Irises. Not selling Irises yet.
That's cool mekos - can you send me the list please?
RRM - I believe it some kind of old wild homestead rose - they dug it up off an old farm... The petals are ruffled somewhat like your pic. I need to download the pics and show you all. Maybe I'll have time a little later tonight...
Loca, could it be the purple one called Chickapeon rose? I probably mispelled it, but it has ruffled blooms and purple color and smells to high heaven. Very hardy and is just beautiful. My SIL has one and I've thought about getting a piece of it.
Yep, I'll post the list if anyone wants to see it. There will be 3 pages so hold on.
Here is #3. Now I just got 10 so there would be at least 3 of each available. Mamajack told me found them all. She was thinking of doing a co-op but never got back to me so I figured I'd show them and see if anyone else wanted any. He is gonna dig late Thursday evening and I'm picking mine up Friday morning so if you want them when I get mine, I can get him to dig yours at the same time and pick them up with mine, or if you need more time to look, no problem, I can go back later and get them. He just needs a few days notice to be able to dig them.
Edited to say one is misspelled-- Bandit man
(I spelled it Brandit man) -this is wrong spelling.

It's not really purple - more a hot pink color - lol. If I ever get my pics downloaded you can see! That's a lot of DLs... If I have time to look some up before you go I'll let you know. Dormants won't do well here but EVs and SEVs will. Thanks for the list!
I'll be around some WHERE!
Yes you will - don't forget, I know where you live... Well, sort of;o)
Kelly!!! Wow!! Congratulations!! Beautiful shot!!
Thanks Robin! I don't have the best camera, so sometimes I take dozens of pics trying to get the "perfect shot". That's one of them - lol...
NO MARTI! YOU CAN NOT GET ANY!
I've got my hands tied so that I don't buy any, but I'm itching to say yes to a few. Its just that I don't have any more yard turned over so I can make another flower bed.
Beautiful Nettie...Kel is this the rose? http://www.dirtdiva.com/photos/lg/oldenglish.jpg
