New bees chit chat - come on in!! 07/17/2010

It was thundering here a bit ago but no rain for us. Probably missed us again. :0(
Glad it cooled some for you though. It's just miserable for us here.

Somerset, KY(Zone 6b)

Rain here also. Started just as we got home from swimming in the lake.

Well, some get all the luck! I woke this morning to a few drips off the house top but none to speak of. The ground was not wet.
I had this beauty just now bloom. All my others already finished blooming.

Mekos, you have the prettiest glads! Love the colors on them! Now you need to teach that little one to say "Gramma" too, lol! No rain here either lately, but at least we are having cooler weather. Don't think we've reached 95 yet this summer, and still cooling off nicely in the evenings. We are down to about 60 now, so beautiful weather. Can't believe it's still so cool for it being the end of July!

Booneville, AR

been cloudy here all day but no more rain love and hugs nettie good night all hope for a good day today.

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

Nettie, got some much needed rain today, so glad.

Look Charleen, I got one just like yours. My butterfly has the tip of his back wing broken off too. How strange is that?

Very cool on the butterflies! But, icky on the red wasp! I don't like them Charlene!

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

No, they can be crazy, but I was careful. Love tryin to take pic of bugs. Guess rain scared off the butterflies. Had a beautiful Red Sunset.

Sundance, WY(Zone 3b)

Red sky at night, sailors delight! You should have a beautiful day tomorrow then ;-)

My Daddy use to tell me that. Red sky at night sailors delite , red sky dawning, sailor take warning. This is the first time I've heard that in 20 years or more.

Sundance, WY(Zone 3b)

My sentiments exactly Kelly! Has anyone heard from Mechelle lately? I'm dying to hear how Courtney's audition on American Idol went! And how the telethon was! How exciting for her!

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

Would you like to see a bee? or a butterfly?
Now I know you are going to like this one.

Okay Gang - Here's my latest brag bunch! How about a Coleus saved over winter as a stem cutting. This one lazed over winter in my kitchen window for almost 6 months before replanting in the Spring.

My early miniature tomatoes grown from special "Tumbler" seeds purchased from Jung's. I kept four of these planted in one gallon pots, been eating them since first week in July (very early for here). Tomatoes are 50 cent size and delicious, very productive for small plants, I've got 100's of small tomatoes off from these plants.

I've been trying to grow Hollys for years without much luck. These came out of somebodies Newbie pack sent from Arejay. Gramps used to call them outhouse flowers, but I thought they were kind of neat. First time in my garden!

Beautiful Al. Those tomatoes are great for salads. I love to grow them, though I don't eat salads. My family does.
Better keep an eye on those Coleus though, someone might go looking for them. Too cute!

Beautiful!

Hornell, NY(Zone 5a)

I rescued these Susans from Gramps farm this Spring. They were growing inside an old tractor tire he had planted for Gram. Now it's in my garden, fond memories. This is my last one today! Have a nice weekend All!!

Nice pics everyone! Love your Coleus and your deck is great Al!

I have not heard from Mechelle - need to check up on her - lol.

We finally got some rain here today!! Yeah! My unofficial rain gauge shows just over 0.5". It started about 3 pm with a downpour and has been drizzling ever since. Chance all through the weekend - sure hope we get it.

I leave for Maine Tuesday night - can't wait! Going to pick up my son from summer vacation with Grammie and Grampy and will get to spend some time with my family! Hopefully there will be some good photo ops while I'm there and the weather is nice.

Have fun Loca. I loved all the photos.

Booneville, AR

al nice pictures, rrm like your picture also . do you think enid is doing candles again. love nettie

Hi nettie, Yes Enid is working hard on her candles and trying to get her business going to sell some. She is working hard and not much time for the computer lately. Hope you have a wonderful day my friend!

Sundance, WY(Zone 3b)

Kelly, you're gonna love the weather in Maine! Such a change from what you've been seeing in the desert! Have fun visiting with all the family!
Al, I loved your coleus! And I love the one from Home Depot, RRM! It's very cute with its spreading little leaves!
County Fair is going on this week here, so between work and that will be popping in only once in awhile! Gotta go to the fair and see all the kiddos in the area showing their animals and plants! Just gotta support the kids with their 4H and FFA projects, even tho ours are long out of it!
Al, my mater plants just keep growing and growing, and tons of blossoms, but no little maters yet! Only produce yet is actually one little cuke. You can tell how weird this year is and how far behind compared to what we usually have by now. OH! And got my first MG blooms today, lol! They are just starting to climb, but have 3 little blooms right off the ground!

Litchfield, ME(Zone 5a)

Kelly!! The weather is great here lately!! THe blueberries are ready too!! Have a good visit!!
