Hello Ladies,
I am back from camping. Not that I wanted to be home already. Doug and I had planned on spending today with his dad and his new GF. Doug's dad may be moving to Oregon soon and he wants to spend as much time with him as possible. But when I turned on my cell phone I had 4 text messages and 2 voice mails from my mom. Geeze I can not go anywhere without my mom calling me and begging me to come home. It seems there were fleas in my craft room and she freaked out!!! Mom has been letting the outside cat Mia come in the house. Mia has always been an outside cat but after Sadie died mom let her come in. For some reason she like the craft room and would sneak in at night and sleep in there. Well now with the weather getting hotter the eggs are hatching. My daughter came over and set off a bug bomb and took mom over to her house. But that was not good enough I had to get home to take care of it. So I get home and check things out and they are not bad at all. The bomb had killed them. So needless to say I was really upset :(

But Doug and I had a great time just being by ourselves , eating when we wanted, taking afternoon naps, fishing, swimming (I mostly, Doug can't handle cold water to well). The fishing was bad. They had let a lot of water out of the lake and of course the temps went up so that sent the trout to the deep waters. Doug talked to several ppl that had boats and had gone out trolling and they said they never even got bites. But Doug did catch a catfish. He had put out his line then we went to bed. Around 1 am he woke me up to show me his fish. It weighted a good 6 lbs. He caught it on Tuesday night, and had kept it on a rope and in the water. He had planned on having his pix taken with it and then was going to release it. Well when we got up Saturday morning he found the catfish laying on the beach. Someone had found it and took it out of the water. We know who did it because Friday evening this guy and his kids were swimming where Doug had the fish. The man thought that he had found it. Doug told him it was his and to put it back in the water. Doug was soooooooooo mad that if the guy would have showed up he would have cussed him out big time.
By the time we left Saturday ppl were packed in the camp ground like sardines, and the hispanics had their music BLASTING away. We could not see the lake because so many ppl had camped in front of us. That is one reason we went thru the week and left yesterday. We were only going to stay until Friday but decided to stay one more day.

We are planning another camping trip the end of this month to a much better place. It is boat in camping and only cost $10 a day and the campsites are spaced far apart and more private. And the fishing will be better because the water is colder and they don't let the water out.

Boy it took me a couple of hours to read all the posts of all the threads since I left on Monday.

So glad everyone had a good time at Cookies

Happy Fourth Everyone!!!
Thank you Charleen and Betty!

Is everyone grilling today? It's rib eye steak, corn on the cob and sugar free ice cream!! Yayyy..

Twyla, hope you don't have to cook.

Gotta pinch myself.. Betty's here!! Kel's so impressed with the chalkboard and I will put the templates to good use!!

Cookie, Kel wants to buy some caramels from you. He was out of yours and got some store bought ones and he spit it out!!!

Thunder, I'm sure you could find those agapanthus easily where you're at. I can't find them here :( Had to order online.
You and Stacey are right, they love moisture.
Guess you could plant them in sunny location as long as the roots are cooled.. like the clematis.

Whoooooooaaaaaaaaaa... look at the size of that fish!!!!!! Did you managed to do something with the fish?
I'm not into camping cause the last time I did, it was disastrous.. with inconsiderate campers and yes.. the loud music too, though they weren't Hispanic.
Cindy, the 'bomb' is the best way to get rid of fleas. Your mum's so used to having you around. Now how will she cope if you decided to start a home with Doug?

BBL..

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Doug kept the fish, gutted it and cleaned it. Wanted me to bring it home YUK!!!
I don't do fish so I told him to keep it. He caught it he can eat it!!!

Yes the bomb seemed to have done the trick. I've been walking around with white socks on to see if any jump on me so far none YAY!!! Just vacuumed again so hopefully I got all of the eggs and fleas. I had planned on spending the day cleaning the craft room so that I can do some sewing. Taylors b-day is next Sunday and I have nothing made :( Oh well may end up buying her some clothes this year.

Well Doug and I have been talking. We are going to save our money for awhile and try to buy a motorhome and trailer for hauling the motorcycle and do some traveling. We will go where the weather is always warm. Doug can not handle the cold due to extreme exposeure to radiation when he was in the service.

I have no get up and go today so I am going to be lazy. Going to continure reading a book that I took camping.

to hot to grill
eating foux shmores
graham crackers
hershy chocolate bars
and marshmallow fluff
just not in mood for anything really
looked at my gardens and its depressing :( dry and blight ridden.
i hope we can have some rain soon ?

While I was reading Cindy's post, I thought...man o man...Sue needs to have another kid and name it Taylor....wouldn't that be cute? Taylor Taynor? ^_^

Okay, Jaye....say the word!

We turned the air off when we had those nice 70's days and cool nights (I slept with a BLANKET!) now it's back to 90's and the air is still off. Think it won't be long until it will be back on again!

That blur in the middle is BlueJaye....don't know why she won't sit still.

Happy 4th everyone. Don't think there will be grilling here as the rains are coming--popping spareribs into the oven , corn on the cob, potato salad, baked beans then tums! LOL

We are in the mid 80s again today and according to the paper( subject to error) it will remain in the mid 80s for the rest of this week. Not complaining as it is a welcomed break from the upper 90s we had while at Moms.

Lazy day around here, Kim is busy working on----oops can't tell and I am taking a break from my machine. Oh how good it feels to get back to sewing again.

Cindy, I am like you about fish. I don't do fish unless it is at is brought to me cooking with all the trimmings.

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

LOL Marion, I don't even cook it. I will catch them and clean em, but I won't cook them in the house or eat them. Doug keeps talking saying that I will like his cooked fish. Told him to make sure there is lots of malt vinegar and tartar sauce, lol.

Donna. If your Mom's plants are young, u nder 3 years they won't bloom. I heard that if you start from seed, it will be at least 3 years till you see a bloom. Are they in shade, maybe they need a bit more sun? They also need to be rootbound before they bloom. Read this article, and it will help maybe?
Thanks for breakfast!

Hi everyone! Sue I love foux smores! Yum!!! My garden looks parched, and my bee balm is knocked down, and things need lots and lots of water, going out to do that in a few minutes.

Sounds like everyone had a great 4th, we went to Dave's family reunion on Lake Ouachita and had a good time. Probably 30 people showed up but they seem to have shown up when the food was ready then left right after eating, kinda rude. Some of the people who put on the reunion bring propane deep fryers so we had fried catfish, pork chops, fries, and about 20 other food items as everyone who shows up brings a dish also.

The lakes here are nice, the water was like bath water and me and Dave stayed out in it for probably an hour. We had our noodles and a lay on flotation device. Had a great time!

I'm going to have to find my 2008 tax stuff, IRS is saying that I owe them $13,000. Hope I can find it! I keep thinking there's no way I would have thrown that stuff away but I have no idea where it is.

Big hugs and I'll see ya'll later!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Oh Crissy, sorry to hear about the IRS! Do you do your own taxes, or have someone do them for you? Sure hope you can find the papers you need.

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

On Sat. we set of a couple fireworks-Chris had to get in his firebug for the year;) But, we are able to see about 1/2 of the town's fireworks from our house, watched those and we had one here in the sub. Our sub is shaped like an hourglass and in the middle there is a large grassy area. One of the houses that backs up to it has a party every year and all their guests bring a 200g. brick that sells for $40-50. They had that Sat. night, so we watched that too. Then last night the people across the street put on a really good show with mortars and several of the 200g. bricks and a few smaller ones that were arial. Boy was the baby moving both nights-don't think he liked the noise. Chris had to work til about midnight, so I had leftovers for dinner:)

I love to go fishing, but since I don't eat them, I don't clean them either-YUCKERS!!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

My dad's girlfriend does our taxes, I called her immediately to give her a heads up, I'm going to fax the stuff they sent to me tomorrow and she'll tell me what I need to do. She's not happy, we sent all of the info to them showing that it's a reinvestment, I had an investment in CA but when we moved here to AR the investment company sent me a check in full because they're not licensed to do business in AR, so I turned around and immediately re-invested it here. The IRS is saying they want pay stubs because this is income I earned in 2008 from an employer that I have not paid taxes on.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Hey Tink, if you really want some action from the "little one" watch Music Man. I went to see it when I was pregnant with Kim and oh my was I sore when I left. Humm wonder if that indicates they will like music? In my case, she does love music.

Our neighbors did put on their display at the far side of the lake. It was so nice to sit in the family room and watch--to many mosquitoes from all the rains to go outside. I seriously need to run the mower over all the magnolia leaves to chop up their breeding spots.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Crissy, was it an IRA or Roth account?

Lancaster, OH(Zone 6a)

LK these have been in the ground for atleast 4 years and I transplanted them from our gardens.. The were the purple ones but not peter pans..

i think I have a current pic. lemme see

Hello everyone!!
I'm here and taking advantage of the high 80's.
Cookie gave me the vigor to weed.. plant.. and restake, using one of those storage benches!!! AND my legs haven't gave out!! PTL!!
Sooooooooo I'll be out there till the mosquitoes call in their squadron!

Won't that be fun if Sue has a Taylor!!

So sorry to read that your resident frog has crossed over, Cookie. You'll be missing it's bellows. :(

I'll take catfish any way I can!! Grilled, fried, in sauce piquants and even in curries.

Crissy, here are prayers that you'll win over the IRS.

Better start a new room, right?

Hugsssssssssssssssss!! Better try to do what I can today before my energy's depleted!! Or Kel returns!!
