(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Goodness look at the early risers today!
Good morning, and thanks for the breakfast Donna. Everything is all wet, so it looks like we had more rain last night.
I wish I had a night camera. About 8:45 last night the hummers were so active in the back yard, there must have been 20 - 30 of them. Todd and I stood there and watched them for about 20 min. I had a red cap off a coke bottle that I hold in my hand with sugar water in it, and I had 3 different hummers come up and feed out of it. It is so nice to have them feed out of my hands like that, but it was just too dark for pictures. I will try again this week end, and have Todd get some pics.
Hope you all are back home from your travels, and getting rested.

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Oh, LK, how neat is that!? I would love for that to happen to me. My SIL has a family that returns and nests in the tree right by her front porch every year. She has been able to get pictures of the process from eggs to babes.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I wish I could find a n est. But we have an un-improved lot right next door to us, and it has lots of thick bushes, so I imagine that is where they hide. I was tickled to have them in my hand.

(Chris) Des Moines, IA(Zone 5a)

I found a nest yesterday, but not of hummers! I would love to find one of those :)

These little baby robins are outside my 2nd floor apt window..do you know how funny I must have looked, hanging out of the window to get this picture?? LOL

Great picture, Chris!!! Worth the funny look!

we have robyns that nest under our front porch . So far we have three nest. but it is time to take them down. to much bird poop

Thumbnail by
Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Do you have rics under there too, or just robyns..... ;o)

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Sue-can you take them down with babys still in them??

LK-they were pretty easy and can be done with any theme really. We just got the small clay pots and then mom and I decorated them with buttons, embellishments and glitter. After letting the glue dry we put sand in fabric-probably 8X8 squares, put a little over 1/2c. of sand in them and then secured the bottom with rubberbands. After they were all done, we hot glued them in place and stuck some pins in them. Oh-we also hot glued ribbon around the lip of the pot....

Chris-nice pic!!

Donna-most of the time now, they don't let you get that far overdue. After about a week or 2 they induce....My Bday is Oct 18th, so I am just hoping he comes with B4 or after that as I really don't want to spend that day in the hospital....I know everyone says "but what a great Bday gift". I think not-first of all I don't particularly want to share my Bday and second, I don't want to spend that whole day in pain......no thank you;)

LOOKIE what mom found online!!! http://www.acrylicdragon.com/littlewingsdragons/shop.html#featured

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Love those little dragons Stacey! Thanks for the instructions.

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

No problems LK:)

I added the prints I liked the best to the registry so that we don't get duplicates since I have already forwarded the email and posted on here-I couldn't resist showing everyone the little cuties!!LOL

Lancaster, OH(Zone 6a)

Aww those lil robin babies are tooo cute... We had a nest of wrens in th ebush out front.. They were really cute and growing like cray then when the construction started they dissapeared I think the neighbors cat got them... So sad Tristen cried for two days...

LK lucky you... All those hummers... im trying to draw them in and planting flowers like mad so Im hoping next year I will have some better luck.. We have Bats, BlueJays, Robins, Wrens, crows, hawks, woodpeckers, Cardinals, some lil black birds I was told were Geckles and few lil very pretty Yellow and black birds.. alas so hummers yet!

Tink O MY GOSH Those are Tooo Adorable! Thie kids both came in saying they love them.. I think Im with you too on having you lil boy on your bday.. Great gift but getting there is no fun.. I guess I knew they wouldnt let you go too late but then again depends on the doctor.. Tony was 3 weeks late when they induced me for him and Tristen was a c-section 1 week after she was due.. I guessmy babies were just as stubborn as I was..

Well grocery shopping is done now I just have to get moving on the rest of my junk and paying bills...
Does anyone here know anyone who collects franciscan wear in the apple pattern? I have a whole set I need to sell and ebay is overrun with it already.. My new place has blue counters and not much room for decor so the extra stuff needs to go.. Besides I have to get my fund rolling.. lol

TTYL~ I have missed you all..

I googled the dishes. They are very pretty, but I don't need anymore dishes either. How would you ship them?
Stacey, be prepared, cause that little guy will arrive when he is ready! When you least expect it.

Lancaster, OH(Zone 6a)

Lk most of them are still in the original packaging so they would be well protected.. Depending on what the person was looking for I could use flat rate boxes.. Just running through ideas.. you know how I am and I have the whole 52 piece set with the stickers still on them.. Just never got to use them :( I figure I can break up the set and sell a setting of 4 or something .. I dunno...

Can somebody post the link of Tinks registy please...

Did I mention I finally got my new truck.. Well new to me anyway..

Oh Stacey, those little dragons are adorable. My favorite one is the one that said: I broughted you a fairy, but I ate it. OMG! Too CUTE!

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

They are funny huh??LOL I liked the farting one best;)

I am not finished with the registry. I have a friend with a 7 mos old and she is going to tell me what I am missing on it. It is hard when you don't know what all you will actually need and what is hoopla. I just tried to use common sense and registered for things I knoew for sure we'd need 1st. I don't plan on having a changing table, just the top of a dresser, so had to have the pad thingy;) Still trying to decide on some things too-which one do I want. I like that they have reviews on there and that has been way helpful. Plus the universal button where you can add things like the mobile that Chris HAS to HAVE on ebay is nice too. I tried to go with the least expensive, but with good reviews where I could as well as I tried to pick as many things with free shipping over $25 if I could too. Some things, like the bumpers, I had to go with safety first (even though these truly are one of the least expensive sets).

I'm home!!!
Ric.. if you're reading this.. Sinus Valley is nothing compared to Sinus Hell!
The minute I step foot on Myrtle Beach, my sinus starts acting up.
It had been raining and made a fair adjustment to the weather I'm used to @ Cookie's.
It was nice to see my "big boy" again. He took me out to an Indian meal. Sorry Sue.. I ate your share of the garlic naan!

Cookie, I miss you sistah!!! Told you not to do the 'waterworks' cause it's contagious!!
There I was in the security line, boohooing all by myself with no tissues and had to rip off some swabs to wipe the tears away. You can say my face was germ free.

Yep Chris, you should have been there.

Hey there Donna.. wb!!! Cookie was expecting you, but we understand how busy you've been.

Here are a few pictures.

Cookie's beautiful home.

Hey Jaye, glad you back home, and back here. Sorry your not feeling well. Was your indian dinner good? Parting is such sweet sorrow. Just remember the great time you had Jaye.

Indeed LK.. memories will last forever until I have Alzheimer's!!
Thanks to Cookie, I'm now giving my own shots.
Took myself off Lantus and it made me gained too much weight, as you can see from the pics.
Could walk for 4 days, until my knees gave up, compared to only a few minutes at a time. That fluid retention's killing me!!

This is an ongoing ritual at Cookie's.
"Cream please... mummy".
Her furbabies knew their daily treat's behind that door!

LOL i never can remember how to spell Robyn or is it Robin LOL
No i will wait until the babies are gone. I have two that are empty. This should be the last one.
i m so tired.
To much chaos with my oldest Dh today. uhg. i need a nap.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Jaye that is good you can give yourself your shots!
Funny how fur babies know where the treats are!

Hope you all have a great 4th of July week-end.

I'm pooped. Ric and Robyn came today to pick up the shubunkin. They brought me some goodies, too. I now have a yellow weeping willow. Also planted behind the waterfall mound....and you all know why! :o)

I got some Lime Zinger Xanthasoma, and another EE, that I'm not sure of the name. Plus some Apricot trumpet vine. I planted it along the fence in front of the house. I got some trumpet vine from Bertie two years ago, and it finally decided to grow this year....until Bill helped and weeded the fence line....sigh...so we'll try again!

I washed sheets and hung them on the line. So tonight I'll sleep like a baby...loaded up the wagon with black gold, but by the time I got to it, I was to tired, so guess that will be facing me in the morning. I also planted the PG hydrangea and two Pink Delight butterfly bushes that Sue gave me. Repotted some grass for the pond and we ran over to Van's and I gave him a fan of that pretty ruffled yellow DL. He wasn't outside, and so I called to tell him it was there. It sounded like he had been asleep. Maybe he works third shift or something.

I did take time to try and find Judy's ring she lost. But I drew the line at dumpster diving....no luck on the ring. :o( I still have 2 things to repot for the pond. Then I think everything will be in beds.

I got an id on the hosta thread on that pretty hosta I didn't know the name of...it's Whirlwind. It's a beauty. Picture below. I also asked if anyone had any Buckeye Hosta...so far, I'm striking out on it. Can't even find a vendor that has it! :o( There is a Blue Buckeye, too, but it's not near as cool as the regular Buckeye!

Oh, one other thing I did do today (I got up at 5:00) I made labels for all my ferns. Now next on my list are the hostas. Does anyone know where to get those plant stakes that go with the metal markers? I have tons of the metal things, but all my stakes have disappeared. Guess I'll have to start researching that.

Have a wonderful night ladies....glad you're all home and happy.

Auntie Giggles-please be careful with the trumpet vine. As they mature their roots like to get around the foundation and can cause problems. I have known it to happen to people B4. When we were in CA we had one growing up the fence and LOVED it:) I did see something in your garden that I would love to have in mine-I think you got it from my co-op....I was gonna ask for a split after it was done blooming, but didn't want to start a frenzy that would mean all kinds of digging for you...

So sorry to hear Judy lost a ring-I guess I should be thankful then for the swelling I had going on since I couldn't even get mine off huh??

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Good morning!!!
Coffee's on.. beverage of gardeners..
except me.. back to almond milk, Cookie.
Hope y'all are happy with bacon and scrambled eggs!

I'm missing the birds this morning!!!

Cookie, sounds like you'll be busy in your lovely Eden today?
Can't answer your question with the stakes there. Needing some myself, but I think I'll just resort to using cut up blinds.

Bye bye, Bunkie. Hope the treatment works for your goldfish.

Beautiful hosta there. If I come across Blue Buckeye, I'll keep you in mind ;)
Now you got me curious there on the apricot trumpet vine. Told Kel next year, I would love to have an island bed of just hydrangeas. You should see his eyes twitching!!

Got the plants in MG mixed and will pot them up later. Still recalling Van's quizzical look when Sistah Judy thanked him for the 'garbage'!

Have you seen Blue Jaye this morning?

Sue, we give you permission to be tired!!! For heavens' sake, you got your twins and running the house AND garden solo!!!
FYI, I caught myself talking like you.. with the slow drawl... Lol!!
I had some of your pickled green beans last night, man (borrowed from Sue).. wish I had brought home that last pickled beet!

Talked to Judy last night and she's so happy that Bree landed a job.

Think I'll start walking around my piece of WIP garden today. Start re-labelling those spider lilies and yes.. I'll be using the cane. Knee is still sore. Kel says I've injured a ligament.

You all have a fantastic day and LK.. tell those hummers to fly my way.
I got food ready!

This is how Cookie looked with her first plate of stir fry on the last night!
She's happy that someone else is cooking!!!

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Tante-be careful with cut up blinds-there is some kind of chemical used in them that leaches into the soil. There was a whole thread a couple yrs ago about it.

I got metal tags at Michaels earlier in the spring-they were 5 for $1.....wish I'd bought the whole bin, but I only bought 4 sets:( I would just google them and see what comes up-you may find a good deal on ebay or something where someone has too many..

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Oops. Guess I can forget about them.
Thanks Stacey.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone! Thanks for the breakfast Jaye. Sorry to hear your knee still hurts. Don't wait too long before having a doc check it out.
I slept in today. And it felt so good. We have been getting lots of nice rains from the storm Alex, and it is nice and cool here. Only gets to about 85 for the high. We were up late last night just sitting on the couch and watching the boob tube. The hummers are so active. I must have at least 30 of them flying around. Going to try for a picture today of them in my hand.
Jaye are you going to share some recipe's for stir fry. I would love to learn how to do that. I love asian food, but never attempt to cook it.
Well, I am taking my coffee out the back to watch the hummers. Be back later.

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

You think that's on the vinyl ones, too, Stacey, or just the metal ones? Just wondered. I'm trying to replace all my labels with the metal ones from Eon, they're so "neat" looking....neat in a tidy way I mean.

Jaye, I see BlueJaye every morning! She is right there with the rest of them waiting for breakfast, or lunch, or snacks...well, you were here, you know what I mean! LOL....so far, no luck on that stuff working on the goldfish. He's just as perky (and annoying) as ever!

Jaye, now that the word is out that there is "really good" seed at Cookies, I have tons of birds. I think of you every time I look out at those loaded feeders.

Tink, Ric and Robyn have had this Apricot TV for quite some time and they say it's not nearly as aggressive as the others. I planted it on the fence way out front, so no worries about it getting into the foundation. I did have to move a wisteria vine when we lived here before. It was starting to take over a corner of the house and never did bloom....so OUT IT WENT!

Tink, dear, what is the plant? I'm really good at getting plants out of the ground when someone wants some...just ask Jaye and Judy! I'll be glad to share if possible.

Finally found the camera charger. It was on the floor by the shredder. Don't ask me why, cause I wouldn't be able to answer the question! Here is the finished product. If you remember how big that table was, you'll know the size. Wish the colors had showed up better.

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Shoot, meant to say that, too, about your knee Jaye..hope it wasn't anything I put you through! :o(

OMG the stirfry was so good. I'm going to get the stuff to have it again this weekend.

Here are my rocks that I got from my sistahs...well, I don't have the one from Janice yet...she said she'd send it to me....if she doesn't...well, I KNOW where she lives!!!

Thumbnail by joycet
(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Joyce-the only way to get Wisteria to bloom this far N is if it is in a micro-climate that protects it from some of the harshness of winter since it is technically not hardy enough for here. I was just trying to be helpful with the TV and didn't want you to have any problems with it since it is so pretty when blooming:)

The only bad thing I know of is the plastic blinds-stakes made for plants should be fine no matter what material they are made of since they were designed for that purpose.

The blanket looks great!! I forgot to tell you that Chris had to play with the see and say thing when I got home!!LOL

The plant is the Campanula Pink Octopus. Yours was HUGE and blooming when we were all there.

Tulsa, OK(Zone 7a)

Hello all sounds like was a great wonderful get together thye are so nice to do families to.

Been have lots health issues but i will get back on the ecovery trail i know.. i have to..lol.

Been thinking of everyone.. many blessings... health, happiness, Many Blessings.

Lancaster, OH(Zone 6a)

Morning everyone... Thanks for the breakfast Jaye I erally need it this morning..

Spent the rest of the afternoon working outside with family putting the trusses up on our garage and getting it ready for the tin roof that will go on tonight.. We were out working until dark and heck I didnt get to bed until almost 1 this morning...

Never heard that about the mini blinds.. I have been using them for years with no issues but does make me wonder because some plants did die without and cause I couldnt figure out.. Maybe it was the blinds.

Joyce I love your rocks.. :) Tristen was outside collecting cool rocks from the driveway in her pockets last night for her collection.. She finds some of teh neatest ones sometimes.. Very pretty hosta...

Sorry Im not very chatty this morning Im still pooped.. I took the day and told max to take the truck and Im going to get a few things cleaned up and organized around here... Wish his truck was done and home but I guess theres never enough time in the day...

Cincinnati, OH(Zone 6b)

Good advice on most TV's.
They are rather invasive for the most part.
In fact Joyce slammed on the brakes and hit reverse as we were heading out of her driveway.
Spotted something.
She had the naturalized Campsis radicans blooming on her fence line.

Here's the Campsis radicans 'Flava' which I bought many years ago as Apricot Trumpet Vine.
