Today's Weather in Your Garden - 69
tonight was the coolest night at 44... hope the accuweather is right for you!!!
Yeah, me too......we'll know in the morning! LOL
Lucy - you don't want our black flies??????? Oh, Come on! We never had them in Conn. Does anyone else have them? Nothing I know of makes them stop biting. I rub Skin So Soft on the puppies' tummies so they won't get those big red welts from them.
Oh bummer, Louise. I was killed by them in Lake Placid once.
my buddy in south jersey gets them... and of course at any barn we boarded at... the one day a horse fly bit me... I was busy doing something and didn't feel it until it was too late.. it spouted blood 3 feet away from me... looked like something in a movie
We don't have black flies, but we do have gnats....they are wicked right now. The wind does help keep them away. I love your outdoor fireplace, Louise....keep it going if you suspect frost! I haven't planted any annuals except pansies, but my dahlias are up.
The wind is definitely keeping the bugs away. Watched my hubby dig out the shrub stumps. Did some weeding today.
Sunny and temp is 51 degrees. Wind is light to calm from the NW. I am glad to have that brisk breeze take a rest after the last couple of days getting blown around.
we have gnats here as well... starting to get better with them now.. but not gone yet
52 now going to 72!!!
66 and mostly sunny. Still windy. Gnats here too.
60, sunny and breezy. Trying to decide to weed or get my sewing done. Everyone seems to need stuff done now!
Overcast now.
Nice and sunny, breezy, 67
It's nice when the sun is shining, chilly when the clouds block it....oh, well, can't complain for May.
The constant wind, day after day is really making me insane. Not to mention making most of my hosta look like hell :( I'd love an overcast or rainy day with no wind for a change.
Gorgeous! I am typing this from my iPhone as I sit next to the pond enjoying a beer.
We had a wonderful day for our joint birthday gathering. The bugs were out later in the afternoon, but the smoke from the BBQ pit and fireplace helped keep them at bay. The girls did really well with the grandkids. The youngest is terribly afraid of dogs and it was tough in the beginning, because he would get them excited and try to run from them and they, of course, wanted to play chase with him. But, by the time we left, he had walked each dog on her leash around the yard, so that's a good start. We just kept them on a leash when he was outside with us. They are getting their own puppy this week, so it will probably be a good thing for him.
70 and lovely and breezy still.
Victor - I can just picture you there by your pond......ahhhhhhhhh!
It was a very pleasant day except the wind was blustery again. Other than that a good day for working in the garden. Got a few things transplanted and planted. Mulched the circle garden and weeded and mulched half the back slope garden. Temp is 70 degrees now. Tomorrow looks like another nice one, with less wind I hope.
great day!
Nice for walking today, & mulching. Then son & family came for dinner, then son proceeded to trim all the trees in the back yard....did he pick up all the branches? Noooooo, that will happen "sometime" this week. Hope the mowers don't come before then. Louise, glad your GS was walking the dogs, & I'm glad they're getting a pup....my greatniece in the Bronx has a real phobia....will scream if a dog is walking on the sidewalk. She's going to have a hard time.
I agree, Marilyn. It is so hard to keep friendly affectionate puppies from getting excited when a little one starts screaming and running. They have no frame of reference other than wanting to play, so this will be a challenge this summer. Sad to hear that about your greatniece. Phobias and fears are very real and can be crippling. I hope your sticks disappear before the mowers come! LOL
49 now going to 72
Thank you all for the good wishes, we had a great time and slayed the fish! Salmon & Trout have been on the menu lately. ^_^
Happy Belated Birthday Hank, hope you had a wonderful day too!
Great to hear, Celeste!
51 and sunny.
46° to start the day. Iris club took a trip to northern VT member's iris garden yesterday (7 of us in a van) We could not have had a more lovely day.Sunny, not hot and we could concentrate on the miniature dwarf & standard dwarf irises.
49°, cloudy, chilly out there
Looks like the start of another lovely day. Sunny, 61 degrees already and so far the wind seems much less aggressive.
70 and very mild breeze/sunny today. I've been out planting and watching my scruff-bucket puppies having a ball getting as scruffy as they can. On a second's notice, they break into a mad chase and call out their extreme pleasure at being alive and well in New Hampshire. I agree with them!
Celeste - so glad your anniversary trip was so nice. I'll relay your kind wishes to Hank. He's re-screening the front porch at the moment. I'm taking a break from the sun and the girls are sprawled out on the floor in the sun patches.
Lucy - sounds like a nice trip to see the iris's. Some of mine are fattening up to bloom soon. Can't wait.
Allison - sounds like you have a day similar to ours weatherwise! Enjoy!!
Here's a shot of Bill's magnificent gardens......only one out of many to choose from!
The garden is nice! Had to laugh at your description of the pups! Glad you enjoyed the trip, Pixie. I would have thrown the fish back! Sunny & 70 here...would like to get out in the garden for a bit....I had an infusion this morn at the doctors, so I don't want to overdo it.
hope all is well RD
Yes, thanks, it's just for osteoporosis....I can't take any of the meds orally.
Marilyn - glad to hear that all is well! You scared me too for a minute there!
Thanks, folks...you keep me going! Hit 76 here today, got everything planted except for toms & peppers.
That's what's left for me too, Marilyn. I did put in two patio tomatoes, but only broccoli and snow peas have gone into the vegetable garden so far.
57 now... and looks like that is the high for today... big time rain today
54°, wind 0.0, rain
- thank goodness, we needed the rain here. Even with watering the garden, things were drying out too fast from the sun & the winds.
overcast with rain coming tonight!
59 and overcast. 76% humidity. Rain on and off today and tomorrow AM.
the rain started here already
Cloudy, cool & yucky, but my seeds need the rain....painting pansies in art class today.
