Great going Al, I'm on the edge of my seat. ???? I want more!
New bees chit chat - come on in!! 04/30/2010
Come on Skellog - we will dig at night. She is normally in bed before 11p.m. - we can drink Mojitos until 12 and dig those babies up. We might have to take the Mojitos a little slow though, the giggling might wake her up. We don't want her coming out the back door with her shotgun AGAIN!
Great pics Al, looks like you folks had a grand time! The tomatoes still look good - warming on up here, will see how they do.
Okay Janice - Just one more. This is Bell Rock just before we got to Sedona. It's the most photographed monument there, having been shown in many western movies starring John Wayne, Clint Eastwood, Clif Robertson and many others. So many movies have been shot in this area that they have their own private production company.
Al
Sherri, it looks very similiar to the one in my bog. It is growing. Got some nice rain on it today. That is a beautiful bunch of sempers, can'r remember how to spell the rest. ☻ Love all the flowers. Al, You had a beautiful trip by those pictures.
Al, that is breathtaking! I can't believe how beautiful.
Seray, I love them. Oh my , those are so beautiful!!!! OK, I'm at a loss for words. I want Queens circle! I've never seen anything like that. (just kidding on the I want) But I do. The purple and yellow mixed is gorgeous too. I love them. Good going on the co-op. Looks like you hit the jackpot.
I was at the hospital all morning and came home to pouring rain and the mail lady came and honked so I go out and get drinched but no problem, I got 2 packages. An orange Angel trumpet and another package with a little terrarium and tiny little sundew. That was the cutest little thing I ever saw. I put it in my kitchen window for the bright light and morning sun. It actually looks like a couple different little green things growing in there too. I can't wait to see what everything is. Bennifactors, I sure do love you. I was feeling bad but not for long. Thanks.
OK you guys, I need some help. I have a headboard across my pond and it is about 6 feet or more across. I want to find something to plant in it to hide the box and maybe hang over toward the pond water. I want lots of color and green. Last year I had cypress vines, MG vines, pentas, and a yellow 4'oclock at the end. But it just wasn't pretty. I also had a couple ground orchids too but those died in the greenhouse disaster a while back. I don't need anyone to send plants , I have many and can get what I need around here when I decide what to use, just want some ideas as to what would fill the box and be pretty. I'm thinking maybe some pitcher plants but the only problem the box is wood and the water would run out and was going to fill in around the pitcher plants with the parrot feather you see growing in the water now.
There are water lilies and other pond plants growing in the pond with my baby koi fish.
This is my small pond. Any ideas? I do have the stictocardia vine coming soon. ?????
But it didn't grow fast this past year for me so probably wouldn't be enough alone.
Edited to correct spelling.

Got another delima- I'm pulling out the big guns for this. The nursery with the schisandra rubriflora vine does not have any more. I can't find it. I'll give anyone that can find me a live vine one of my Duck Orchid bulbs if you can find me one and I'll pay for the vine. Just need a source to get one. Anyone want to help me look?
mekos id love to help but don,t knoe where to start looking, i feel so bad for you is their a forum for this plant love nettie
All I can find is people who want it. From the pictures I want it too!!
It's hard to grow from seeds, because they HAVE to be fresh. The last one I grew took me dozens of seeds and about a year to get 1 baby vine.( seeds are expensive) I found seeds on e-bay back then but not any there now.
They can't ship to here from the UK and I can't find anyone here that will turn lose of one.
Thanks Nettie. I've e-mailed everyone that I was able to find who had them but all out and most out permanently. Well, IF anyone finds me a vine, I'll definately reward them good!
Yes, Seray, that is what I thought on the caladiums, and I really want some colorful blooms growing UP and some greenery growing down toward the pond area. I'll keep racking my brain. Thanks everyone! You are a great bunch of peeps.
Mekos, did you try Greer Gardens? Their website says it is new for them this year, and sells for 29.95 for a 2 gallon size. I didn't talk with them, so don't know if they are out of stock or not. Their toll free number is 800-548-0111. I'll keep searching, just in case, tho.
I e-mailed them a bout Friday or saturday and got an e-mail saying they don't have it. I wanted it. If you can get them to say they got one, I'll take it. Maybe they didn't understand what I was looking for. I tried to call them but got no answer and don't know where they are located. So don't know what time of day or night it is for them. I'll try again later on the phone.
I think that they are in OR, but not sure. Heck, most of the time I'm not sure where I am! lol But I sent them an email too, so maybe I will hear back from them. I'll let you know. I do have a friend in the UK, but not sure how you would get one into the US either, or how it would make the trip, if they could send one. But, I'll keep searching for you. I think there are some places in Canada too that might have one, but then again, not sure if they can ship to the US.
Did you also try Darts Hill? I know they have plant sales, so maybe you can buy one from them without having to attend their sale. http://www.dartshill.ca/contact.asp Might be worth a try.
I sent e-mails to both places. I found out the first place is in oregon and a Diane said they didn't have it but I sent another e-mail to Harold Greer- owner and asked him and gave the plant Number code and asked him for information so maybe I'll hear back soon. I spoke to someone in the UK and they said IF they had one it would cost over $400.00 just to ship it to me here. So even though it would be hard to do, I'd have to say NO THANK YOU. So I'm waiting to hear back . Thanks everyone for your help. Good night. Tomorrow is another day.
Good Morning Everyone,
Thank you for all the compliments!! He is beautiful, he had a little snag looks like pneumonia, then maybe not they dont know but he looks fine to me. They are taking him off iv's today at least another day in the hospital.
Jan is this the vine you are looking for? I just want to be sure I am keeping my eye open for the right one. I spent last summer if you recall looking for Florida Orchids in Maine trees I still find none but dont give up maybe this year and I will add this to the hunt if this is the right one.
Where is Mit , we are going to have to get a Mits Iris Coop going , I have seen at least five I dont think I can do with out....
Mekos - Janice my dear friend - remember I know NOTHING! What about Million Bells - Calibrachoa? Talk about adding a splash of color - and they are kinda whispy - would drape over the front of your box.
Ok, on to deal with my day. I swear if my son causes me any trouble today he is on the first bus to a state none of you live in! I wouldn't want you to have to accidentally encounter him! Lord that boy is a mess - there is nothing left to do but pray for him. Maybe if we had a national day of prayer for the child it would help - and then again....
Hahaha LOL- Good morning all. Thanks all of you for helping me find the plant and I think this time we may have it after all. Brandy, one of my little friends in Florida found another place in Oregon that says they have it for 19.99 and I just ordered it with instructions to notify me NOW if it is available to be delivered now. I'm waiting for a confirmation to stop looking. I got to have it. (guess Brandy gets the Duck Orchid bulb if this pans out).
But now Arejay, it was fun looking for the orchid, wasn't it, and I did get one, however it almost bit the dust over winter but is starting to show a tad of green in one place so hoping it made it. I lost 6-8 orchids over winter in the greenhouse. Not sure what will make it or not. I'm not going to try to replace them though so don't have to get a crooked neck again from looking UP.LOL
You guys have a GREAT day.
Sunny and very nice here today. Rain has cleared out and looking good.
Just remember when you get babies from that vine, you'll have to start a list of people who want it. I know I'd like to have a place on the list!! Let us know when you get confirmation that they have it. Maybe we'll all see about ordering one each.
Happy B-day Michelle!!
Happy Birthday Mechelle!!! AND Many more! BIG HUGS little buddy. Wishes for a wonderful day to you.
Hi Marti, I'd be happy to share with all my friends here. Hopefully it will grow good and I'll snip cuttings as I can and mail. Got you on the top of the list. They are the hardest thing to grow from seeds though. You have to have fresh seeds and sow bunches and get 1 vine??? not too fertile. Gives big headaches trying to get a vine and then let it freeze out the first winter when it is suppose to be winter hardy here. Kicking myself.
You won't believe this! I ordered the vine from the new place just this morning and NOW just got an e-mail that the greer place does have the vine I wanted for 29.99 and had over looked it.?????!!!!!!! EEEERRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!
Well I already ordered it from another place because she sent me 2 e-mails telling me she didn't have it. Guess I better wait to see if the other place has it before I tell her NO THANKS! I might have to bite my tongue and get it after all.
Thanks mekos. I will be waiting. slowly getting my yard under control and starting to plant some things as I get an area ready.
Hahaha, mekos! Isn't that just the way things always work! But, at least you should be able to get one, between the 2 of them. Happy for you! I also received an email from Diane Johnson at Greer, and she said that they do have one.
Yippee, Robin! So glad the IV's are coming out! That is good news!
Happy Birthday Michelle! Have a great day!
Love the pictures Al! Such pretty country, especially in the spring time!
I finally got more grass seed thrown out, although had to do it last night at 8:30. Took that long for the wind to die down enough, and woke up this morning to more snow on the ground, but fortunately, it's mostly gone now. And the forecast is for rain and wind for the rest of the week, so at least the weather should help with the seed!
I got to move up your way. We barely got any snow and when it did, it was at late evening and gone by morning. No fun for me. No snowman or any thing fun.
When we bought this place, I sowed grass seeds every spring and fall and just got weeds. It either washes off with the rains or dries up with the hot sun. So after 5 years of sowing, I gave up and kept the green weeds. It beats red georgia clay dirt-MUD on your feet every step outside.
Don't you just love the red dirt Mekos, it won't wash out of anything. When I was younger and water skied, we always wore dark bathing suits - the lake water would stain everything a kinda funky redish brown. The stuff grows good wheat but it ain't good for much else.
Snow, Skellog - how awful! Do they not know that it is almost summer time - there is no snow in May for heavens sake. You need to move - too cold for gardening where you live! I don't think I could stand that much cold weather.
I know what you mean Lori. Same here. But it does grow cotton pretty good. I grew up on a farm planting it, hoeing it, and PICKING it. HATED IT. Now I got a cotton plant growing! Go figure. Back then it wasn't considered a flower, look at the world now?????
she's at the North pole nearly. Skellogg you should get a pack tomarrow , Lori, you too. tubby too. seems like there was someone esle but can't remember. I hope it doesn't freeze skellogg.
