NYV, you'll find a nifty new "quote" button to use in the box to the left of every post (under the "Post #xxxxxxxx"). That was a recent gift from Dave. :-)

OK, I have had enough. I was a Vice President of a very large corporation for over 30 years. There were probably 2500 VPs. We went through 4 mergers in 18 years. Then we were acquired. Whole new ballgame.

When I went to the last thread there was a note that this thread was locked and please join us here. Which I did. At the top of this thread was a message from Michael. He was doing his best with his spin on the situation to make everyone happy. That is not possible. His only fault was he was way to late.

You cannot expect him to read all of these comments and continue to answer. We must use Terry and Melody as our liaisons with Michael. I am sure he has numerous thing to do besides DG. That is called delegation and who would be better to be our spokespersons than Terry & Melody. Dave is very important to all of us but I am sure our anguish is not making him feel any better also. I just think we need to get back to gardening and our friends and hide and watch.

If I have offended anyone, I did not intend to but we are wasting the precious moments we have left on this earth over something we have no control and Michael probably does not either.

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

Michael was clicking his ruby shoes and repeating 3 times ...

There's no place like DG, there's no place like DG, there's no place like DG ...

humm - All these years, it never occured to me waht that "Quote" thingy was for!! I sure do learn something every day here!

Grandview, TX(Zone 8a)

OK after you click the quote thingy, you have to scroll dow to the "edit" box. Then you can remove the part/parts of the post you don't want to "quote". Then you need to skip a couple of lines and add your comment about the quote. Ok, try again.

I want to start by explaining that all of the features that you've come to love and that you've built over the years will not change. We clearly understand that this is the best gardening site on the internet for 2 very important reasons - 1) you and 2) the information you provide. We have absolutely no intention of messing with that. In fact, our goal is to invest in such a way that we improve your ability to communicate with one another and your ability to continue to share and educate with new members of the community whether that be on the forums (private and public), through plant files or what ever.

We are taking a slightly different tack than what NM did with the site primarily because we have a team of resources who have become experts in what they do. This means that we have a technical team that concentrates on the coding and operations of a site like this. It also means that we have a team of sales and marketing people that understand how to pair relevant marketers with communities like this.

But we are also well aware of our deficiencies. We are not experts in gardening and we do not have years of experience with all of you. Luckily, Terry and Melody are experts in this and have agreed to stay on and be the key points of contact between you and us. We have also offered Dave the option of staying on as a community Admin and sounding board to us if he so pleases but we've agreed that we should take things one step at a time. His role will change and he will have some new found free time to pursue other activities, but I am sincere in saying that Dave's voice still matters and will be highly influential with us.

I think I got it this time:)Anita

ROFL at that one ... That might be true! Poor Michael ... hopefully he's still reading ... and realizing we are not making him the brunt of a joke, that we all have a sense of humor and laugh at ourselves all the time around here! This is a great bunch of DG nuts!

I do agree with you Iris. May be cheap but very good.

I think as business people whose company owns many websites, the IB folks are probably very aware of the angst some feel when they suddenly have new owners/managers/administrators, and I'm sure they are used to these types of situations. They probably don't have the time to read through all of these posts but I bet they are getting some chuckles if they get to scan through and read a few of them!

I don't know anything about websites, DG being the first and only I've ever subscribed to or posted on, I don't have a clue how others are operated ... but maybe when all settles down a bit a few IB people will visit the garden and realize how interesting this place is. I think they will get hooked real quick and find themselves "lurking" sometimes, chatting sometimes, learning and laughing! Who knows ... there may already be employees of IB who are members here?
