I get all kacited watching these threads....Better than TV..
Everyone just needs a big ole Group hug...
{{{{{{{{{{{HHUG!!}}}}}}}}}}} It will be alright! Change is good.. without change there is no growth, if there is no growth, then we become stunted.. or something like that.. We hafta stay Positive! Like when you talk to your Garden! You plant the seeds, and then you help them grow..
Michael is not a gardener, he admits it. He is like.. hmmm. A NON Gardener. There. That's the problem. This Daves Garden need to teach him how to make things grow. Let's show him! Lets' Make The Original Gardener Proud! You know, that guy named Dave? and all his helpers?
okay, now I am going to go back to lurking ....

If any of you saw my vegetable garden (I did make one this last year) you would be VERY disappointed. :( Not a pretty sight.

I hope this place helps me this season.

miguelthai - Thank you. Those were at least two of the questions I had on my mind.

If Michael and IB doesn't have a sense of humor ...

They'll never make it work here! ;-)

Actually we've undergone months of training to eliminate every iota of humor from our daily lives. The return on investment just didn't pencil.

Sorry.

Perhaps we should all send him one plant each! Instant garden or giant headache! Just kidding. Patti

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

That was worth looking at again. Thanks jar617. I see the person that originally posted had only been on two weeks and is no longer registered. Could be that thread scared her off! LOL!

Dellroy, OH(Zone 6b)

I was thinking about including him in a round robin...........wouldn't that take the cake! Of course, there would have to be explicit instructions about how to handle all those precious seeds!!!

(WELL!?!??! They say the best way to learn is hands on.....Hey does IB support company travel....come to the next Round UP!!! lol

Hughesville, MO(Zone 5a)

Thank you, Miguel. That answered at least some concerns.

Surely there are some gardeners who work of IB. After all they are a very large corportation.

Given that this thread has over 250 replies, perhaps it's time to start another one? I have tremendous sympathy for those on dial up still ;o)

I feel so-o-o much better about this whole take-over. Michael seems to be "adjusting" to his new family just fine. Give him time.
Now, when warmer weather finally comes to most of our zones, we'll all get busy in our gardens and "time will heal" all the ruffled feathers. I, for one, am encouraged and looking forward to a great year in the garden and with this website.

Michael...Thanks for easing our minds over a few things...I still hope you...and any others at IB...will make it to our CA RU in Menifee in April...We'll load you up with plants...whether you want any or not! Jo

Hello, everyone.

I have read each and every post in this thread. If Mr.Thai reads through all this stuff jumping all over the place from brownies to walking into a bar to a host of off-topic considerations unrelated to his original communiqué, he certainly deserves a Nobel prize.

I am not addressing Mr. Thai here. I am addressing you, the paying members of this cherished and ethereal cyber institution. It's all very simple, really. Our concerns have been voiced over and over in this and a few other threads. Change brings about angst. This used to be Dave's sandbox. It's now someone else's sandbox. If Dave's Garden slips and slides into murky areas you'd rather not go, you have options. We all do:
- If you can't stand pop-ups, activate your pop-up blocker.
- If you get too much spam as it is, active your spam filters.
- If you don't know how to do this, ask for help.
- If you're still not happy with the way things are run when renewal time comes, do not renew and move on.

Just don't develop pimples, ulcers, eczema and psoriasis over it. It's not worth it. I am unwatching this thread. This feeding frenzy is not healthy for me. Pursuant to my own advice, if Dave's Garden ever becomes a place where I no longer enjoy myself, I won't return and I certainly won't renew. The Earth will keep spinning gently upon its axis.

Respectfully submitted.
Sylvain.

Michael, might a DG subscription allow access to subscription features on some of your other websites??

I've learned over the years to give things a chance and to keep my mouth shut for awhile. DG has been my home for so many years and I've invested lots of time in PF (no the editors where not paid we where volunteers but Dave took care of us, we had some nice compensations over the years) Michael I appreciate your post and that Terry and Melody will be staying on. They are both great people and dear friends. What I don't like is that Dave and Trish won't be here they are DG. On a good note if they remain as members we might get to see them in the forums like in the old days posting. I know as an admin you don't have the time to hit the forums everything else comes first. I wish you much success but please let the DG we know and love remain in tact. I feel certain with Terry and Melody here that will happen. I hope that you continue with PlantFiles and BugFiles to keep them growing and as correct as possible. Dave's garden with no Dave at the helm to guide us will no longer be my home, it will be a visiting spot.

Glad there is a new thread. Why was it taken to a different forum?

I don't understand the move to a different forum either.

Pinellas Park, FL(Zone 9b)

Probably just an oversight.
Shouldn't be a problem as long as you "Watch" the thread.

miguelthai, in your search for ways to attract new members, please don't neglect the way most of us have found this site - the Plant Files. I first found the Dave's garden site when researching plants/seeds to add to my garden. Internet searches kept leading to the Plant files. I looked around the site, and stayed. Additionally, lots of new plant cultivars are added every year, I hope that your company plans to keep the Plant files up to date.

I hope that your sales and marketing staff continues to respect the member's privacy.

One of the best aspects of Dave's garden is the access to the honest opinions of many fellow gardeners. I trust the information in the Plant Files and the Garden Watchdog. Before buying a plant, I check the plant files for user reviews. Before buying anything from a company, I check the Garden Watchdog. I imagine it could be an ethical dilemma if a "major corporate sponsor" is unhappy with negative company reviews in the Garden Watchdog or plant reviews in the Plant Files. When faced with a choice between freedom of speech/print of the community or advertising dollars, where does your company stand?
