did the cold weather stop your way? there talking about a big storm 5 to 7 inches of rain
just what we need right now:(

waving to all got to run

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning...

No storm Liz, had intended to wsh my car yesterday afternoon but so many cars in the line-up that I decided to do it at 7am..wasn't a line up..lol

Mild here today and calling for much the same all week, got to tell you it's been a fantastic winter SOOO far..

Had so many things planned for yesterday but ended up doing very little..lot's of drop-ins to see how I'm doing so didn't have any choice other than sit and gab..then Greg insisted I come for supper although I was enjoying being in my jammies and could have just stayed home...

He's leaving for Winnipeg this morning for a week, wanted Melanie (DIL) to come to both of my appts. with me, told them I'm a big girl and can manage quite nicely to get myself there and back...

Crissy, often when I get migraines it's the change in the weather that causes it..

Judy how was the movie Lovely Bones, Melanie and I were talking about taking it in one night this week depending on Noah's hockey games...Steve still behaving?

Barb are you home safely? get the storm they were calling for? am sure you enjoyed the party..can't believe you've been out of the sewing room for these many days... I did get to Fabricland, bought a few items I will put in with sewing swaps and much of the material if you are a member was buy 1 get 2 free so did come home with a bag full

Dawn, too cute! Got me laughing, I'm sure Tubby who used to post the laugh of the day appreciated reading it....quite a brave sould to go out dressed as he was...

Mary, how is everything on the homefront...work going ok?

Trisha, aches and pains gone? will Sage wait until Christmas to paint those ornaments? tell her I said it's always good to get a head start...

Will be a short day today..leave at 2:30 for the Doctor's office..do have a few questions regarding the constant chest pains..when he comes into the room I'm in, I'll tell him to take a chair, sit and gab..he gets a kick out of that..

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Hoping your appointment goes well and that this problem is something minor. I've taken up cleaning out closets for the next few days. I need to make room here and there is just too much stuff!!!!! I don't mind a little bit of clutter while i'm busy with something but when some places start to pile up I can't stand it...
Yes, we got belted with 8-10 inches of snow and therefore did not make the 50 mile one way trip to DGDs party. There was so much activity going on when we talked to her on the phone that it was just as well. She is coming here for a couple of days in February. Also, Norm's BIL is back in the hospital again and we felt it was more important to be here for his sister who is alone. They are running tests on him today. Blood in urine and fluid pocket in his lower back.....
Must get back to work. Will check in later. Hope everyone is doing well or better than yesterday.....

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Oh Barb I am so sorry about Norm's BIL. Prayers are being sent.

My mom should be in surgery as we speak, it was scheduled for 9:30am Eastern time and it's a 3 to 4 hour surgery, but this should take her out of pain, she was very excited last night and just knows this is going to work.

Going to be a gorgeous day finally, sunny and mid 60's!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Sorry to hear about your BIL Barb...you were right in not taking off and driving in those conditions..best to play it safe...you are at where I was during the Christmas break..I like everything tidy, can put up with it for just so long and then massive organization happens..can't believe how much I threw away..mom dropped off a bag of goodies on the weekend..flameless candle trip - looks like the candles are partially burnt for realism, 8 other flameless candles, then pkgs. of silk wings, guess if I was into making fairies or the likes it would come in handy, if any of you want them I can post them, then a box of all different kinds of sewing beads..too funny, we're all cleaning and we all don't want to throw things out so we pass them along for the next person to do so..lol.. I on the other hand had a big bonfire and what I couldn't burn is in bags for tomorrow's pick up..even had about 4 bedspreads that went into the pit...now that I've lost 20 lbs. and looking to shed another 20 I don't want to clean the closets of clothing because there are some nice outfits that just might fit me..
Knew we had a holiday coming in February so checked it out..our Family Day (same day as Presiden'ts Day) is Feb.15th..think I'll plan a trip across the border...give me something to look into..

Lyndonville, NY

Crissy, keeping your Mom in my thoughts and prayers. Finally the big day for her.....she has waited so long to be pain free. I so pray this works.

Betty, start writing a list to take to the doctors so you don't forget anything. I get out...on the way home and "ohhh I forgot to ask about". Keeping you in prayer also.....be careful.

The hub has a respiratory infection, one DD has one also...but she is mending. Shannon had PT for her knee this morning, and it is so muddy out! Real fun with crutches. Shane is off checking out a used guitar he can refurbish. I won't complain for $25...and its his 25! Should hear the next day or two when Jeannas surgery is scheduled. No signs of the endo INSIDE the bowel, which was a very big concern. So, its a go ahead to do the procedure.

Tubby, keep on getting stronger! I can tell your doing better by your posting. Sure have missed you!

Barb, be careful with all that snow. I am so hating snow this year!

Bev & Scotty....hugs to you both.

Mary, you did absolutely the right thing with your child! My kids do not...even at age 16 & 19 now...go anywhere...unless I have every detail....a phone number for a parent at that house and meeting them....and I have been known to take license plate numbers down. These days....you CAN'T be too safe.

We had an incident right before Christmas. A girl in the town over, was six hours late...past curfue....they couldn't get her on cell phone. It turns out, her and her boyfriend were in an accident. She had NO id on her....and neither kid was concious to answer questions. So, it is very very important they always have ID on their person.

Ok, sorry....just wanted to give you back up there. Ya did good!

Debbie

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hello everyone! I am back from my trip to Colorado, and I will never drive 28 hours in one week-end. That is a long trip! Went to pick up Dad in Colorado, and now back home, Dad is settled in already. Need to run and get a few things from the store, but maybe later today.
I will go back and read what you all are up to.
No Betty, I have not recieved your package yet, sorry.

Nilwood, IL(Zone 5b)

Thinking about all you good people. Scotty has been thinking he was going to pass the last couple of months, he felt so bad. We went and had blood drawn and three of his meds were messing up his kidneys. In the five days of not having them he feels better but have to have more blood taken today. He may have some damage because he has been taking these for 9 years now. OH! ME! I am waiting for spring. I ordered some more daylilies. I am a glutten for punishment but they are so pretty. Well let you know what the results are. Thank all of you for being my dear friends. BEV

We must have cross posted Crissy...sending prayers for your mom and hugs for you..you must be a nervous wreck..

Debbie, laughing to myself..am making a list, just re-read, imagine asking, how do you know when you should go to emerge or call an ambulance???? isn't that stupid..thing is I've been having chest pains, heaviness but that's the same as indigestion..I've tried eating mush, not eating much..pain isn't where you grab yourself and say OMG it's terrible, none the less painfull so where do you draw the line, when do you know... know everyone says go regardless don't take chances but you know me..hate to go to the Dr's and hate to visit emerge (last time they kept me and I sure didn't like that) lol.. but I do have a list of logical questions...now to see if I can get some answers...Debbie, were the kids ok? guess it would be a good thing to take the license #..did you give mine when we went on our excursion? Didn't Shane get a guitar recently? great that he has musical interests...bet you are semi-relieve about Jeanna..you'll be so relieved to have everything behind you..don't know how you do it girl...how's DH...did you find the white kittie?

Linda Kay how's your knee after that much driving..wow, is a lot of driving in 28 hrs. - wouldn't it have been advisable for you to spend a few days before returning home...bet you are thrilled to have dad home..
Will prepare a package tonight and send it to you tomorrow..lordy I don't know what happened..5 got them 1 did not...even Jaye's package, it arrived I think in a record 4 days...

OMG Bev, you must have been terrified to see that Scotty was giving up...you hear of so many who takes meds and once off them feel 100% better...guess you become immune to them...much like you I'm gazing out the back bedroom window, seeing the melting going on and being able to see some of the gardens...now that Bernie put in that bedroom deck I'll have a garden area to plan around it..shrubs mostly...

You have such lovely gardens...can tell you love each and every plant..you my dear are very artistic, a lot of garden art...going to steal a few of your ideas I will, know you won't mind...last year I tried starting my plants inside but doesn't work for me, I either start them too soon or I put them out too soon...I've bags/bags of seed, I'm simply going to work the beds and throw the seeds and see what comes...I've luck with doing that...

Nilwood, IL(Zone 5b)

Just got back from doc. He says like I said, that Scotty's kidneys are not working right. He put him back on Lasix but dropped it to 40 mg. He has gained 6 pound since last week and they think it is fluid for he has congestive heart failure. He wants to eat what he wants and that is all fattening stuff. I am going to find some recipes that will satisfy him I hope. Wish me luck. He is also getting harder and harder to get into the truck. Our snow is almost gone, but now have the fog.
Will know more Wed. BEV

My step dad called this afternoon right when I was in the middle of pouring cement with Dave LOL He said the dr told him that he feels she will get a lot of much needed relief and feels the surgery will be a success for her. She was still asleep but I know she will call me as soon as she is coherent enough. We're pooped and going to go out to dinner, 5 hours of cement pouring is a lot of hard labor!

Thank you everyone for all of the thoughts and prayers, they are much appreciated!

I'll catch up with ya'll later, we're going out for Chinese Food!!!

Baton Rouge, LA

Hello To All;

Crissy - Hope she will be rid of the pain soon. I LOVE LOVE CHinese food... are you guys off for a few weeks between DH's Job? That's great if you can get a lot done between time....

Bev - Are there any particular recipes that we can help with? I am putting myself on a strict "Salad and Soup" diet until I can lose 20 pounds... I made Chicken Tortilla soup this weekend but not sure if it's "diet". :)

ANd Betty - How did you lose 20 pounds? I need some advice here....

LK - was it a YEAR ago that you dropped off DD? I seem to remember that and how hard it was for you...... I think it's about a year and a half that I've been on Betty's Blog....and WHAT a Godsend...for times like those last weekend...when I needed some "Woman Support!" (((HUGS)))

Debbie - My "Triplet" ! SO GLAD to hear from you....Thank you for your thoughts on that... You know....I thought I was right... but I needed some "Moral Support"....
Hugs for the girls... "Endo" is in my family as well.. I'm learning.....

PT can't be fun at all in the mud and the snow.... HUGS to the kids.....

Hugs to All... Work is going Well...Now I've been there ALMOST 6 months.....and they have to give me some "real" accounts so I can support my income....but they have not yet..... It should happen soon...and not soon enough....

My "Six Month" guaranteed (income) ends soon... so hopefully it will happen soon....

Hugs to all,

Mary

Nilwood, IL(Zone 5b)

Thanks a lot Mary but my Scotty is so picky it is hard to feed him. I am supposed to be on a no salt no suger and no fat too but all that leaves is grass LOL. BEV

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone! Betty where are you at? You did not say good night, and you usually post first thing in the morning? Hope your doing OK?
Mary, I dropped my Dad off last May, so it has been almost a year.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Bev, your sense of humour is priceless, just spit up my coffee ready your post..yep, grass isn't the most tempting of foods...remind me after to tell you about a neighbor child and grass!

All kidding aside sure hope you are able to feed Scotty something healthy but at same time, something he enjoys..that's a challenge in itself.. give him a hug and tell him to think chocolate as he eats the 'yukky' food .. lol - isn't drinking cranberry juice good for the kidney's..specialist had me drinking it in gallons..Bala, just up the road from us sell pure cranberry juice as it's a major cranberry farm..taste's great...

Where Bev did you order your daylilies..are the ones ordered different from what you presently have..

Crissy, marvellous news about your mom..imagine she'll be able to gab with you today..will she be in the hospital for any length of time and will she have to stay in the area for awhile just incase there are complications? What dear girl are you up to with all of that cement? did I miss something?

Mary, just got off having 3 or 4 cokes a day, fast foods..just a change in my diet..eating good for a change..now, I'm at a plateau, got to get on some type of fitness program..am tempted next Monday to drop into the local church, they have a group that meets every Monday evening..they had asked if I'd be interested in teaching line dancing as a form of fitness 1/2 hr. so most likely will do so..will be good for me and good for them...

Mary, they can't take you off guaranteed income if they don't give you files can they? Hard to believe it's already been 6 months you've been there..time sure does fly...

LindaKay, how's dad settling in?

Barb, cleaning all done?

I was home from the Dr.'s at 4:30, layed down, fell asleep, woke up at 11:30-went to bed and slept right till this morning - 6am so must have needed sleep..

Couldn't believe that the Dr.'s office was actually empty so it was a great opportunity to sit and gab..he did get a kick out of my saying 'come pull up a chair, keep me company and answer some of my mindless questions!'

His words of wisdom, I'm going to live until I die and heart attack isn't a bad way to go.. so there!!! joking of course..

Said that without the test that I'm going for tomorrow not much to say, answered all of my questions .. said for me to have a heart attack it is very unlikely because I'm healthy, not obese (can't believe he added that comment because I'm still 20 lbs. over my ideal weight) on no meds. etc. no family history of heart problems...did say though he was concerned because he NEVER sees me unless it's something that I can't handle on my own...

checked me over, gave me prescription for nitro, made an appt. with specialist .. couldn't believe it's for the 27th. that's almost unheard of ... so very quick..appreciated that...

So guess I'm fine...

Victoria Harbour, ON

We cross posted LindaKay...how's dad doing??? will take awhile I imagine for both of you to get into a routine..

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Dad is doing fine. He was so unhappy in Colorado, and it is so nice to see his smiling face! It will take a few days to get everything back to his routine, but so far, all is good! I gave him his pills this morning, and told him to drink his glass of water, and he pushed them back, and said NO! I looked at him, and told him this was not a question, I just told him, "Take your pills" He giggled, and took his pills.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

LK Sounds like Dad missed you very much to pull a little prank like that first thing!!!!
I'm sitting here just grinning as my Mom used to do the same thing!!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

LindaKay, how cute..sad though at times they have to be treated like young children..Sunday night at Greg's he went on about a few things..omg, thought it doesn't start already does it where they think they have to monitor you????

Barb, any tips on the January block??? drats, had intended to get it done Sunday but had company off and on all day...it's schedule for this weekend then I'll ship priority..

Nilwood, IL(Zone 5b)

Hi Betty and all. 61 more days till Spring!!! Betty there are 67000 different daylilies, so am trying to make a dent with ordering too many. I can't wait till things start blooming. HUGS BEV

What gets me Bev is you know all the names to them..I just call them my pretties..lol..61 days you say??? you should be out playing in the dirt before that shouldn't you?

Do you have luck with your lilies multiplying?

Nilwood, IL(Zone 5b)

I will know the answers to both ?? in a couple of months. I just hope we don't have another deep freeze. I have plenty in the house to keep me busy..

Mary just had a 3 day weekend, I'm not taking any time off at the moment.

LOL Bev, that is the truth! Grow cat grass!

Betty you missed the pic because I didn't post one yet. Hard to explain without it:

LOL Betty, 20 pounds over your ideal weight is not obese, if your considered overweight at all, you're borderline overweight, like me :) :) :)

My mom's supposed to be in the hospital for 2 more days, then she might be stuck in a hotel room, but the dr doesn't know for sure, depends upon how fast she heals and how her body responds to the surgery.

She called last night and was very groggy, but said the same thing Lynn, her husband, had already told me. The dr told her that it's a good thing she asked for that surgery, she needed it very badly. He took out a bunch of scar tissue, fixed some miscellaneous problems (she doesn't know what they were yet,) and cut the nerve. She said that she is feeling a lot better but still has that burning needing to pee feeling, which comes from the Pudendal Nerve that was cut, so she shouldn't be having that. I think even though the nerves were cut, which stops any kind of pain or anything else that makes you feel, because of the incisions it's hard to tell. I'll know more tonight when she's more coherent.

Pretty flowers Bev!!

Baton Rouge, LA

Hello To All;

Crissy - You are TINY! I've seen pics on you from the cruise! Anyway - You got a LOT done....I hope I get some energy to do the same this weekend!

BEV - GRASS! LOL! I guess Beef Broth is out of the question!

LK - Your Dad sounds like a HOOT!

I read a gardening article in the local newspaper and the guys says to wait till MAY to see what is 'actually dead"....that's going to be hard to do.... LOL... LK - have you heard of this? My whole yard looks HORRIBLE..... I can almost not deal with it..... meanwhile my one potted hibiscus inside is blooming. like a sad tribute to the whole Backyard....

Betty - I "joined" the local healthclub for the Family ...for 3 months...and I'm doing classes...because I don't know what the heck to do with those crazy machines/equipment...I did "Bootcamp with Brian" last night and "Yoga" afterward and I could hardly walkdown the steps at work today... LOL !

Hugs to all,

Mary

Victoria Harbour, ON

It's hard going Mary but well worth the effort I'm sure...a master gardener was at the Garden Gallery last fall and said we'd have much more plant growth including some annuals returning if we weren't so excited come spring and start working our gardens...wait/wait/wait was his suggestion...
Not sure I can do it though...Mary come a few more months and you'll be so enthused with the new growth you'll forget all about worrying about the now devastation in your garden beds..

OMG - breakfast television just said they had another quake in Haiti..how much more can those poor souls take...

I'm lounging around this morning, don't have to be at the hospital until 11am in Orillia so have until 10:00 before leaving..might have slept in later had the plowman not come and do my driveway..time to get up anyway...

1 more strip of crochet (15 blocks) and Suzanne's afghan is ready..lordy her birthday isn't until next Saturday so I'm well over a week early in finishing...keep looking at the one I did for myself to use up some left over wool from the one I did for Darlene at Christmas...does NOT match my bedroom at all..will bring home a box from work today, will wrap it before I put the Christmas wrapping paper away, put Melanie's name on it and there you go, an early start to 2010..must go in search of my Christmas bags...years ago when Fabricland was selling off their christmas material, I made bags and embroidered everyone's names on them, had them hanging in the closet, when I'd see something that I thought each would like, into their bag it went..not sure why I got away from doing it but think it's time to get back into the groove...

Better finish hemming the pants I have on the table.. need smaller size and have been too lazy to hem them..they are on this morning's agenda...

Should be back at work at least by 1:00...gab then..

Enjoy your morning

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning Betty. Hope your test all go well at the hospital. Please keep us posted?
Would love to see the colors in the new Afghan for Suzanne also!
I agree Mary, patience is a virtue, but it does take that long for some plants to come back. When I lived in Michigan, no one planted anything till after Memorial day, which is the end of May, and even then, some times it froze after that. But now is the time to trim all dead plants back, like your hibiscus, roses... it will grow back, and bushier if you do.
Tubby, sending big hugs, and good morning to you and Shirley. Hope you had a good nights sleep.
Sending out more prayers for all those in Haiti. The new earth quake must have them so scared?
Betty, we will be waiting to hear from you later today.
LK

Lyndonville, NY

Betty, prayers for good news after your testing. Please keep us posted.

Today DH and I are celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary. Time flies when your having fun. LOL

Crissy, great news on your Mom. So happy to hear of the improvements.
Now will take time to heal.

Waving to everyone.....got the Dh home and he is hoovering. PITA!

Debbie

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

LOL Mary I'm 5'9" and weigh 180 pounds, tiny is not the word I'd use LOL Thank you though!!!!!

The best of luck Betty on those tests, I'm glad you're getting them done though, I like being in the know.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY DEBBIE!!!!!!! Thank you so much for telling my mom to get her tail up there!

My mom called last night and she said she doesn't feel any pain like she did, but the needing to pee feeling is definitely there, which is weird because she was diagnosed with Interstitial Stetitus but went away when her bladder was removed and it's been gone for 20 years, now suddenly it's back. I told her she might need to go to a urologist and find out what the problem is. Anyway, I'm sure she can get some sort of medicine for that or something to help with that.

Hoovering Husbands....

Victoria Harbour, ON

Afternoon all...

Happy Anniversary Debbie...will you be doing anything special???? just spending a quiet evening for you and hubby would be the ideal celebration..you've always got so much going on...

Crissy..wouldn't it be fantastic if this operation worked out...you'd have to send Debbie a big hug wrapped in pretty ribbon for leading you in the right direction..

LindaKay, how's dad?
Will take a photo of the afghan, done in much same colors but rather than red I've replaced with burnt orange - her colors...

by tonight I should be done and already picking colors to do myself one...maroon/dusty rose/ sage green/beige/white and variegated colors to match...drats I should have thought of that before making myself one, oh well, you can't go wrong making the 2nd one a Christmas gift can you...

Brought my bag of wool into the hospital just incase it was a long wait..omg didn't even get to put it down..took me right away..interesting..showed me my heart, showed the brilliant colors of blue/red - explained all what looked to my like cratters but were important parts of the heart- chambers she called them...nice music as well, at different points she captured a graph and it heart heart beating to it..sounded pretty good and even beats so that's good news I'm sure...tried to con her into giving me some info but she didn't fall for it...

So next Wednesday at 11am I get to visit with a specialist..most likely indigestions, you watch and see but anyway, might as well get it checked out...

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hey Betty, glad to hear so far, all is well! It was nice of you to get into see the Dr, right away. I hate sitting there for hours, waiting...
I just found out that dad had PAD, peripheral artery desease, and may have to have surgery to correct it, We see the specialist next week Tuesday.
Happy Anniversary Debbie, I hope you have a wonderful day with hubby, hoovering and all! 20 years tosday, is a great accomplishment!

Victoria Harbour, ON

LindaKay, guess because he has lived with you over the years that he has a local doctor...isn't that a big operation for someone his age?

Tubby, how are you feeling?

Trisha haven't heard from you in a few days..you didn't overdo and now not well are you?

Ames, NE(Zone 5b)

Betty......Taters

Got a good night sleep
Felling good

Tubby

Victoria Harbour, ON

That's wonderful 'Tubby' can you feel yourself getting stronger? how is Shirley doing..hope she's getting some well deserved rest as well..

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, it is a big decision to make, because if he has another blood clot, it may take his life. If I don't have the surgery, he may lose his foot, or leg!
Tubby, so nice to hear you got a good nights sleep. I bet that makes you feel good!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Wow LindaKay that is a big decision for sure..is he healthy enough to go through the operation???guess the Dr's would do it unless they thought he could..

OK, got that 2nd envelope done up and ready to mail in the a.m...should be there mid week..someone must be doing crochet and sewing at the customs office..lol

Temps are really dropping, just put on the fireplaces, going to have a bath, get comfy and enjoy the evening...

Lordy that's a lot of relaxing I've been doing..batteries should be generated shortly don't you think?

Ames, NE(Zone 5b)

Taters......Betty

You can bet on it..........
Shirley is getting better sleep..............

Tubby

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

AAGGGGHHHH!!!!! I have my mom on the phone and she's telling me that she's in just as much pain, if not more, than she was to begin with. She was released today and stuck in a hotel room for the night and she's just complaining about everything. Ug. I think it's the Interstitial Stetitus but she swears she never had it. That's why she had all of the symptoms, was diagnosed with it, and in an Interstitial Stetitus group for 18+ years. Negative city!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Oh no Crissy..omg you just have to have patience with her...doesn't she realize she's just had major surgery and is bound to be in pain??? are you shaking your head...hugs girl...difficult at times dealing with moms...ooops did I say that, wonder if my boys think the same..lol

When will you get to visit with her?
