Best/Worse & What did I learn today..visit with friends

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

We have one of those electric cement mixers, so not near the work it would have been if we were stirring the cement in a wheel borrow. LOL It was still a lot of work, we didn't do any physical labor this weekend though, went to the horse races, then ate at Chili's, then home on Saturday. Dave piddled around in the yard Sunday morning while I went to town to get cat food then a cold front came over so that ended that! Football was coming on anyway.

Cutie Kitty alert!!

An acre is enough to look after..ohhh look at the Kitty...adorable..how's your mom?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Seeing the kitty reminded me of something.. I called Darlene this morning, hadn't heard from her all weekend which is really odd..said she'd been in bed..she took on looking after a neighbors kitties - 8 in all while they are gone for 8 week RV trip..all are house cats..apparently a few were having a fight, she tried to break it up, she got badly clawed, went to get a tetnous shot, meds they gave her as well played havoc with her system and she's been in bed since..think her hubby Mike had better to geed and clean the liter boxes for awhile...almost as bad I guess as getting between dogs fighting..

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Crissy, looks like you have been busy with the cement. Nice job!
Betty, sorry to hear about Dalene. She needs to watch those cat scratches, as they can get infected real easy!
Sounds like the back staircase, will be nice for the people that stay there. Do you need building permits where you live?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Yes we do, can't put in a nail you need a permit..
Stopped raining, starting to get antsy for spring so will go and visit Garden Gallery on my lunch hour...nice way to get excersize and see all the spring things...

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Poor Darlene!! 8 Cats!!!! LOL that's a lot of house cats. Never ever ever break up any kind of animal fight, both animals will turn on you, your better off replacing any broken items, the animals won't kill each other.
I've been lucky with Tiga's scratches, if they start to bleed I immediately wash them under warm soapy water and I've never had an infection from her scratches or bites, and she loves to bite, but more of a slapper than a scratcher.

That's Tiga! She's almost 14 years old!!! YIKES!!!!!!!

Yes an acre is enough, more than someone would think, but I do wish we had another one for buildings and shops and stuff.

I'm getting antsy too, but then comes the summer heat and I'm not looking forward to that.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty where are you this afternoon?
If we lived in the city limits, we would have to get a building permit, but we live in the outskirts, and no one has to have them. Sometimes I wish they were mandatory for everyone!

Baton Rouge, LA

Betty - If you EVER come this way ...You have a place to stay with me..... Please remember that!

HugS!

WE are quite a rambunctious crowd with the Saints in the Superbowl for the first time.....however ..DH has painted a Fleur de lis in the yard....Baton Rouge and New Orleans are going Crazy with this !!!

Hugs To all,
Mary

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Oh I bet Mary, this is huge! I remember when the 49ers did good in Montana days the neighbors/best friends across the street decked their whole house out, and when they scored you could hear the dad hooting and hollering from inside their house with all the windows and doors closed all the way across the street and inside my house with all of our windows and doors closed, it was crazy!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone! Where is Betty? I hope your OK Betty, when you don't post we all worry!
Morning Tubby! How are you doing today? Hope you slept good!
Still looking for Laura from down under. You have not posted in a long time, Hope your doing OK!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Hi LK - I've been lurking this morning but I'm here too. Yes, we do have a tendency to forget Betty has a job. I'm sure she is just busy. Certainly hope so for like you I worry too....

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, just very tired today, sitting here not doing much...after taking shots of nitro yesterday afternoon I ended up with bad headache so it was early to bed...

Must tell you all, you know my sister shows American Eskimo dogs and her dog won best of breed in Westminster Show last year, well she's going again mid Feb. hoping to win a 2nd time..but the good news, she's been extremely down since she lost her 2 show dogs this year, well, she had sperm frozen 12 years ago and wouldn't you know it was still healthy, mid Feb. one of her dogs will have 4 puppies..ultrasound shows they are healthy and she's on top of the world..

As for bad news..do you know that in less than 2 weeks, we've had 14 pedestrian deaths, last night the 14th was hit, 30 year old woman..how tragic...not sure what's happening there...

For those of you who sew, am thinking of making my own 'thangles' there's a quilt I'd love to do and this would make it easy/easy as it's mass sewing using the thangles...I'm sure with this photocopy I can do them...

Watch the mail once again LindaKay..hoping you receive your package shortly..

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, if your taking Nitro for chest pains, you need to go see the Dr. At least call him, and let him know please?
Now please tell me more about what a thangle is please? I don't recall hearing about that?
So glad to hear the good news about the puppies on the way! I bet she is so excited. Congrats on the new babies.
Wow, that is a lot of pedestian deaths for two weeks! Sounds like some are driving too fast?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Have a specialist appt. with heart doctor tomorrow, just taking it easy today! like my family doctor said, I'm going to live until I die AND heart attack is not a bad way to go!!! quite a lot to digest there..lol

I get the newsletter from this quilt shop..a man does a tutorial on them...nothing that I can't make and use cheap paper in photocopy machine..sure makes doing blocks easy as pie...there is a pattern that I want to order..it's large leaves, this would be great for it....

Glad to see you post my friend....
You are right - that is a lot of accidents. Speed and not paying attention sound like they could be causes. Are your roads very icy right now?
Tubby so good to hear from you. Hope things are going well.
LK Thangles are great - I've used them before and like the way everything comes out the same size.
Working on my towels again today. Here is a picture of the red/white block that will be in my BOM quilt for this year. All the blocks will be red & white.

That's great Tubby and Norm sends his best too. Hope Shirley is getting some rest..

Victoria Harbour, ON

Love the block Barb...if you added on a few just a touch of blue you'd be ready for the July 4th swaps..know how organized you are..lol

Back to the Garden Gallery today..bought 4 plants - red/white, going to add some color into the potted ivy and ferns for a bit of color, this should get me through to spring..garden fever I have...their faux flowers are so realistic..purchased 2 strands, not quite sure, think it's a peony and peony bud..not sure the coloring will fit in but always a place I can set them...seeds are out but not the bulbs as yet...

ohhh also sending out a swap, can't include a real flower so I bought an imitation butterfly bush..absolutely adorable...all flowered butterflies..too cute..should have bought me one while I was at it..

Just popping in to let you all know I took Dad to the foot specialist, and he checked it all out. He only has a pulse on the top of his foot, not on the bottom or sides, which means his circulation is bad. We already knew that from the stroke he had 9 years ago. After the evaluation, he told us he could do surgery, if Dad was not such a high risk to blood clots, and strokes, so Dad will not be having any surgery to open the arteries in his foot. He does have to wear a special support hose, to keep the circulation going, and he has to sit in the recliner several times a day, to keep it elevated! Thats about all we can do for it.
Saying good night, see you all in the morning!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all, not even morning really, I've been up a few times, can't get back to sleep so here I am..sewing so that I can clean my mess before the girls get here...

Will be able to spend 1 1/2 hrs. with them until I have to leave for the doctors...

Linda Kay how are you feeling about this decision? Relieved or not...either way the risk factors aren't in his best interest are they..what helps is that he's been able to make the choice..

Well, I'd better continue with what I'm doing...talk later

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning Betty. I don't know how I feel, it is one of those situation, that you are D%#@ if you do, and D%#@ if you don't.
Sorry to hear yout not sleeping well. Hopefully you will get good news at the Dr, today?

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

LK that is a hard choice. Personally, if it were me, I'd choose whatever is the least invasive. At that stage in my life, I'd just want to be comfortable. Just an opinion.....
