LOL I meant to say $441 a week for 7 months! Sorry!!
Betty I can't ever get into the dr or anything else without taking time off work, happens when you work Mon - Fri. Do what you got to do and don't worry about it.
Ms. Cheerful is trying to make it as difficult as she can for me to get to my annual exam. Last Monday I made the appt for Tuesday the 19th at 4pm. She said that she couldn't stay til 5 because she took an evening job. Ok, no big deal, right? Well... She continued to say that she works Tuesday's after work, has choir Thursday nights, and can't stay any other day of the week, so she can't stay late, any day, ever again. Since everyone else has made themselves completely unavailable to cover between 4:30 and 5pm I have no help. Not Good. Later that day she said that she's going to go with her daughter for the ultrasound to see what sex the baby is on January 22nd. Then on Tuesday morning she rescinded her 'never being able to stay late' bull, and since her daughter's appt is on the 22nd I made mine for the 21st at 9am. I tell her this, she says, "Oh! That's the day my daughter has her ultrasound! I don't know what time though, so I may not be able to be here." I'm not changing that appt again and usually in the mornings there's not a problem with coverage.
Ok off my soap box LOL I've got to check on some other threads and get to work here. See ya'll later!!
Best/Worse & What did I learn today..visit with friends
OMG Crissy you do have problems with her don't you..lol..you stick to your guns..don't change your appt.
Trisha can't believe how quickly that package got there, it's the one I sent her right? think I only mailed it out Monday..hmm just don't understand it...LindaKay let me know if you've not received yours in today's mail and I'll get another off..something must have happened because I believe everyone else got theirs...
Went home after work, fed the furries, dressed up, got to the mall and did 5 major chain stores looking for dressy jeans..they were so stylish, either decorative stitching along the leg, some has sequins at the pockets, could have bought 3 or 4 different ones....then came the problem..the pants are all made to fit a few inches below the waist..come on manufacturers, make clothing for the older generation! when I asked the store clerk why, she said it's the 2010 trend and all slacks, both dressie and casual are all hiphuggers..so came home with nothing...
then met my 2 SIL's and off to see "Leap Year"...loved it, just a relaxing girl flick..couldn't believe it though, no more than 20 in the theatre..
we've decided that we'll try to get together every 2 weeks, have supper out and take in a movie...
this afternoon I'm going to the funeral home prior to going home, funeral is tomorrow aft. and I've got Aunt Muriel's 80th soooo will pay my respects this aft.
In the same funeral home is the young 20 year old that was shot to death the other morning by her boyfriend .. while having supper last night a few youngsters were talking about the murder and boyfriend's attempt to kill himself..they said his father was arriving today to pull the plug..might be easier on his parents/her parents if he does pass on...
So that's my day, what's happening in yours?
I'm going to try to sew again!!! I think I posted that last Monday I had such a bad day sewing that I walked away from the room. I haven't been back to it since but today I think is the day to get going again. Wish me luck!!!!
today is your day Barb...I've got to get to sewing as well..should have time over the weekend..
good luck Barb!! I too am going to try to get some sewing in...got to try the paper piecing
hearts first...look easier!!?? than have to try the Jan. swap block....and I have more signature blocks to do....not to mention Christmas quilts to finish !! I am so very far behind, don't know when or if I will catch up.....butttttt I sure enjoyed the time with my GD, and all the rest of the family.....
Betty My darlin hubby made your meat pies last night !!! YUM YUM ^_^ thanks for the recipe...I told him he needs to make them at least once a month!!!
I'm glad you enjoyed..have one out for din/din tonight...
Just think, you are not behind in Christmas projects, you are early, infact 11 1/2 months early..lol..no fretting..PLEASE let me know how you make out with your January block, Sunday is my day to get as many done as I can..somehow I have to get ahead of the game...
Oh 30 minutes to go and it's off to a 3 day weekend! Woo Hoo!!!!!
I am "lurking" Hugs to all !
Mary
Morning all...
You o.k. Mary?
Linda Kay, no package???
Up early, sitting and relaxing..well almost..sewed 3 more rows to Suzanne's afghan and I'm now on Row 10 of 15 so making great headway..must put it away for the weekend though, too much to do to be playing with afghans..
Did make it to the funeral home after work yesterday, then was able to find a 3 piece outfit for today, have to check length of pants with shoes on to see if I need to shorten before this aft.
Just going to check my stock of material to see if I've the correct colors for the Jan/Feb blocks, if not, Fabricland has a sale today..hoping I'll not have to go though and fight the crowds..
Just a sweep of the floors and the house is clean..hair appt. at 9am..quick 5 minute run into Walmart..short 1 skein of wool then home..
Will do a color sketch for mom, she'll be here just before 1:00, bringing me she says some goodies..lol..then off to Aunt Muriel's 80th for a few hours...
Then the weekend is mine..will spend the day tomorrow sewing...
Few minutes to share a couple of photo's...
This is my pretty solar fairy for my garden, matches a few others that I have... sure do appreciate Rita/Cathy getting me garden art for Christmas....
Hope you all enjoy your day..
Betty you will like those amaryllis, they're gorgeous. Love the bear "put the grand in grandma" that's way cute! The fairy is adorable too, I bet you can't wait to see that globe glow this summer.
Sounds like you have a busy day ahead. We got out this morning and put mulch in my flowerbed, then came in and made fried taters, Dave made his usual version of fried potatoes using reds, I made a sweet potato hashbrown. Now I'm resting my back, with my bone spurs I don't do good with bending half way.
crissyr, I've never heard of sweet potato hashbrown. Do you just shred a raw sweet potato and cook it like regular hashbrowns?
Yea, I sauteed 1/2 c red onion til it was half done, added 2 small cloves of garlic, should have done a third, salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and brown sugar all to taste. They were pretty good!
Thank you. I'll get a couple of sweet potatoes when I go shopping and give them a try. I hear you can also make potato chips with sweet potatoes and I want to try them too.
Evening...
Crissy glad to hear you are resting....looks as though Dave is enjoying his weekends home with you...
Marti, best french fries I've ever tasted are done with sweet potatoes...you are all making me hungry..
Spring like weather here again, a person could get used to this kind of winter..my younger brother Mike and my son Greg are gone snowmobiling..hate the idea of them on the bay but am sure it's safe...
Yep, on the tired side tonight so early to bed it will be..some photo's but they can wait until tomorrow..
Yawning so time to call it a night...
Best..Aunt Muriel's 80th and seeing family I haven't seen for awhile
Worse..sitting here tonight watching everyone leaving next door..it's been hectic week for Gail and her family..I'll wait a few days and go visit with her...
What did I learn today...too busy enjoying the day to be learning much of anything..lol..
Hope you've all enjoyed your day...
LOL This is my last hoorah for the day also, watching the Saints win has made me winded :)
I keep forgetting to do this:
Best: being able to work outside and get that flowerbed covered with mulch
Worst: being kept inside and at home because we can't spend any extra money right now.
Learned: relaxing and doing nothing all day is good therapy!
Hey Crissy - Geaux Saints ! Who Dat!
DH watched the game....DS's 1/2 brother from New Orleans is visiting...and he is a huge fan as well....
Thanks Betty - I'm okay...thanks for checking. Love the goodies you got for Christmas. We had some beautiful amarylis....I suppose they won't come back.... We'll see in due time...
I'm trying to ignore the outdoors....until the sun starts shining again. It was a really dreary day today...
Headed off for a while. I just had an argument with DH and I'm wound up.
I mean...do you send your 16 year old daughter off with her brother to ride her to a party.....You don't know who is at the party, where it is being held, the parents there? Nothing? I raised a fuss and now he's taking her....but I think it's ridiculous that I had to point out. (He wanted to stay and watch the end of the game).
I'm trying to remember back when I was 16....and as I recall... My dad wouldn't have let me go without going to drop me off himself and meet the parents.
Am I over reacting? Any advice appreciated...
Hugs,
Mary
I got some heart blocks done!! they did get easier as I did more....can see the technique being useful in some instances....but I still have to say I prefer traditional piecing.....and of course I had to give it a try in Red, White, and Blue....
I did not try the Jan. swap block yet, but now that I understand the construction principles of the paper piecing...I think it will not be a bad block to do...just got to decide on colors, and placement of colors.....
sweet potato hash browns sound delish' gonna have to try that one soon!!
...I would have to know the parents of the house where party is, and I would have to know if they were going to be there....I have three boys...all older now, but I would not let them go to any parties, unless I knew about them in advance, and I HAD to know the parents, can't imagine what it would be like to have a 16 year old daughter these days!!
I would want to know everyone she was hanging around with, and I would want to meet parents....
I don't think you're over reacting !!!
JMHO...good luck
When I was 17 and had a date, my dad's rule was curfew was 10 p.m. By that he meant I was in the house, door closed and the young man headed for his car. Even when I became engaged curfew rule did not relax much. At least my guy got to come in and have a cup of coffee with my dad, than leave.
Thanks Marti & Barefoot !
I was hoping I was not over-reacting...but it just seemed ridiculous to me that he would just sit there and not THINK of that....I hate being the only 'parent' around here sometimes...
I do remember when My dad told me to be home at 9pm....and if we got home at 9:05pm...we'd be grounded. Dad was military....so if I wasn't "5 minutes early" I was late...
Well DH took her....he's back now... I'm too angry to even ask if he met the parents...
HUGS to all,
Mary
Mary, take a deep breath--------now let it out. Do this a few times and get yourself centered. Be happy that at least your being a good parent. One of you has to be.
Mary,
Just wanted to say- you go MOM! You bet we still check on kids parents first.
They don't get it either, but oh well, were just not that cool to let them go...LOL, There was no way I, me, the mom was going to the Sistah gathering in TX until DH had all the info...We laughed about him not asking for her SS# ROFLOL, you should see the look on their faces when i make copies of drivers lisenses & ins. card ...another favorite line of mine, we have lots of rooms I can go in. no info, no go.
.Betty, I am happy and proud of ya making that appointment!
Oh my Love your Garden items!! Very nice Christmas you had, big ol smiles for that!
Love the fairy....I was sorry to hear of your neighbor.
Well, Steve is up and about today! He even drove today.
Surgery was Tuesday, Was suppose to first and got pushed so many times, Finally at 4 they did the procedure.
Torn mi niscus was mended. Doc said he repaired some Arthritic cartelidge too.
He' has been a real good patient. Of course I had to demand a few things, like not removing the bandage.
Then he insisted taking a shower yesterday. So, ok had to go fishing for an industrial saran wrap. Got him all wrapped up and was ful of relief when it worked! Stayed dry!! A couple other things he insisted, I finally said, You know i know exactly what the doc said, I was the coherant one...LOL, so he decided to ask the doc. OK go ahead...Later i overhear him saying, I just wanted to make sure "I'm" doing it right!" giggle, giggle, you bet I was doing it right. Asked if he was allowed to take bandage off...No...Duh
Oh I must take a picture of the table Jacob made in wood shop.
Linda Kay, I hope you have a great visit and good travels too. OHHHH, and I do hope you and Betty will get a chance to link up!
Hey, are you planning to go to Sistah gathering? I hope so and then We will meet!
Hiya Tubby! How are you doing?
Been thinking about you...Jacob has to make something for his Final
in wood shop...So he asked me what to make, yesterday, i was thinking about your bird houses on a the post!
So i am going to ask him to make a bird house! I am thinking he could put it on a post in Spring.
Crissy, You keep your appointment!! Geesh that Mrs Cheerful.
I hope to come back in a bit...Dind'nt get to finish blabbing at you all, lol.
Thank you Judy & Marti ! Sometimes a gal's just gotta have some female "Back UP" ! LOL.... Thank you for saying what I needed to hear. I thought I was the one in the right....just sometimes you have to hear it from others
That's funny Judy about the Sista Trip...
Also about Steve...and "Double checking" with the DR. I remember Grandma saying that men made the worst patients....she always said if Men had to have the babies...There wouldn't be any.
When are ya'll planning to meet? I'd love to do it one year... Wish I had negotiated more than 2 weeks per year.... ! My 2 weeks for 2010 are already 'planned'.
2 days - part of Band Trip to Panama City - April
5 days - WDW (Disney) with DS may 9-15
1-2 days - Family reunion - end of July
leftover - I suppose Christmas / Thanksgiving...
LK - I suppose you are very far from me... Texas is SO big...
Marti - I picturing the young man having coffee with your Dad....Bet they were NERVOUS!
Thanks a bunch Judy - I'll be back in a bit too.... headed to disboards for a bit...I'm planning a couple WDW visits for some folks on there...
Hugs,
Mary
LOL, Mary, i am baffled whats disboards and WDW??
When we(teens) were late, called for grounding 1 day for every minute late, wasn't much fun...LOL, We don't ground, but we WILL confuscate (yikes that's so spelled wrong!) cell phones, lol, in a heartbeat.
Bareroot! Wow, cool heart block!
Barb, So did you get back into the sewing sinc? LOL, had the same dilema! I just couldn't get with it it, Guess we just need a little break. Tomorrow i have to start in. no of ands or butts. But now I think it's all organized in my mind...so away we go.
OH Betty, very cool, Steve was checking bank info...saw they cashed our check from passports!! woohoooo.
Mary, We are hoping to get to Canada this summer. Betty and liz have come to visit me twice and now we are trying to get to visit Betty!!
Hmmmm....Maybe others would like to go a on a road trip...I got wheels if someone wants to drive, very simple just have Liz be navigator and txt me in back seat the whole way and we'll get there in no time. LOLOL.
Judy - Disboards are Disney's blog boards... www.disboards.com..... I am "TinkerbellinLouisian".....
and WDW is Walt Disney WOrld....
I am planning a May visit with just ds and me......
Hugs,
Mary
Seedtosser1
I would apprecatoun that....
The shipping would be more if on post....
Tubby
Morning all, you've all been chatty..lol
Mary can certainly understand why you'd be in arms..I have to agree with the others, would be a difficult time raising young ones these days..
Didn't have to be as cautious when raising Greg and Jeff, we lived on the lake, most of their activity was provided right at home, my house was the gathering place..as Recreation co-ordinator I knew nearly all the community families so didn't have to worry..thank goodness we made it through those days without problems...
Those girls are lucky they have such a caring step-mother but I'm sure they see it quite differently...wow you do have plans for 2010..
Mary, love the heart block, how many did you have to make?
Didn't the January block give options as to regular blocking and not only paper piecing, guess I'll soon find out..today is the day to get it done..at least I hope I don't get side tracked..
Marti (Mary) much the same when I was younger, had a curfew during the week and Friday nights because teen dance was from 8 - 11:30 I was expected in by midnight..most others were able to go to the restaurant and hang out for an hour but I had to come home...my Uncle Allan, cutie that he was, he'd always say to grandma 'mom, if she's going to do something she'll do it before midnight so don't think this after midnight makes one bit of difference' thanks for the try Uncle Allan, my curfew was midnight on Friday and 9pm on schoolnight..
Judy, bet Steve is glad to have the operation behind him now if he can only let himself heal..difficult for men ..am sure being self employed doesn't help, he's probably thinking of those jobs waiting to be done, but if he doesn't look after that leg he'll eventually not be able to work, so tell him get himself a magazine of Georgian Bay area, do some research on the fishies, on things he'd like to see and plan a visit to where? to here of course..lol
Here's a photo of Aunt Muriel...
Bernie - DB (you've heard me talk so much about) with my son Greg, DIL Melanie and Kyle
Kyle was excited to tell me that the local paper featured his efforts in organizing a Cancer Run Bike-a-thon ..top 10 community happenings in 2009 so must go look for the last edition so I can keep it for the memory book I'm making them all for Christmas..I know, I know don't go there right
Darlene, Aunt Muriel's adopted daughter on the left, Aunt Muriel, my mom and me...
Time to go get dressed, want to be at Walmart at 7 when it opens, want to get the photo's I took yesterday done so I can drop them off to Aunt Muriel be home and start my day of sewing..
Barb, are you still in your sewing room
Tubby how are you feeling this morning?
Trisha, haven't seen you post in a few days, still tuckered out from cleaning the rugs..
Linda Kay, Liz, Debbie and those I've missed, waving toyou all..
Betty
I'm filling fine........
Tubby
Mary you are not overreacting, my dad wouldn't have cared, but mom wouldn't have let me go at all, no matter what, but she was a cop so... My dad lived for the party himself so there wasn't much direction there, but my mom had the curfew and all, and if my dad was home for the football game I would have had to wait til it was over, if anything had to do with my dad we were 30 minutes late, if he was on his own he was hours late.
If I had kids I would have to know the parents, and make sure they were there.
Glad you're feeling ok Tubby, how's Shirley?
Betty nice pics! Looks like Aunt Muriel was happy about that party!
Well I've got to get off this and do something about this headache, don't know why I'm getting headaches lately, I'm blaming it on my neck, too young for the "M" word.
Good morning.
LOL, Mary, I am so dumb sometimes! will blame it on being late and not in thinking mode.
Did you find some interesting things to do?
Betty, Wow Aunt Muriel looks great, what a nice party. I love the pic with the 4 of you.
I hope you find what your looking for and a fun and relaxing day sewing. I will be doing the same.
Well will also be taking a break and going to see the movie The Lovely Bones. We have all been anticipating it.
You know i think it's wonderful you and the girl will go for a dinner and a movie night!
Crissy, man, sure hope that headache subsides...probably more from stress. Sounds like you've been busy.
Not to mention Moms up coming surgery, which I will say additional prayer that it is successful and her recovery is quick!
Good morning Tubby, glad you are feeling good.
Ok, coffee is on, so grab a cup and enjoy the day.
Betty - no sewing today. We are off to granddaughter's birthday. 50 miles away and storm coming in so we won't be there too long but party is not until 4 pm. Oh well.
I haven't been posting much lately because Norm has had control of my computer. He trashed Vista and installed Windows XP back in for me. I gave Vista a try for one year and just didn't like it. It's taken Norm a while but everything is working again and I'm happy!!!
Aunt Muriel's party looked like all had a good time. What lovely pictures and I especially liked the one of the four of you. It was good to put a face to Bernie's name too. I'm so happy things finally worked for him.
Supposed to get 5-8 inches of snow tomorrow so I'll be sewing then. Wish me well please!!!!!
Hi Tubby and Shirley. Hope today is a good one....Hi to all. must rush.......
Crirry
I'm filing fine.....................
Shirley is fell fine..............
Tubby
Crissy thank God for unemployment, girl. Thank God, plus if your state is like ours, the president throws an extra $30 dollars on to the check from the Stimulus Package.
Liz, that is a nightmare with the skunk smell. Especially with all the rain we are going to be having starting today. You can't leave your dog outside probably.
Tubby, I pray for you and your recovery and strength.
Ok here is a funny story that my dg friend told me, it is hysterical. She has this crotchety boyfriend. Their dog got skunked, so someone told him to do the tomato thing, so he buys all these cans of tomatoes, puts on a slicker and hat and bathes the dog. It just seemed worse to him so he calls someone else who told him that Summer's Eve Vinegar & Baking Soda Douche would work better. So he is all disgusted and goes to the store in his slicker and hat, covered in tomatoes. Upon further preponderance he decided to buy a whole case of Summer's Eve. While standing in the check out line, a young guy started to snicker and leaned over his shoulder and said, "Mr. You Need a New Girlfriend".
The funny part was that he did not know why the young guy said that and called my friend up to vent about it. I love it. I guess it worked pretty well too btw, Lizard.
hellinzn1
Thank you..................
I hope so too....................
