Stop and visit, talk all you want #34

I only go to the chiro when I hurt and can't stand it. A few times a year that's bout it. lol.

We are getting rain, then tomorrow afternoon sleet, tomorrow nite snow and I've heard around 3 inches or 5 or more inches. Will wait and see especially since I'm not in the winter weather advisory area right now.

Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)

We're in the Advisory area. Then I think we change to a watch tomorrow (that's what they said last night). Crazy dang weather! It's freezing rain and sleeting out there now. The ice is really building up on anything out there. Looks so pretty! John is watching somebody out there in a pick-up sliding sideways down the road...lol...sounds like s/he's doing it on purpose.

I'm going to sign off now. I won't be back on till after Christmas. I hope everyone has a Wonderful Christmas! See you all after the Christmas holiday...☺♥♥♥

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

We have ice here now and it's thick out there. My brothers just left a bit ago and had trouble getting up the hill to leave. We are expecting anywhere from 3-10 inches of snow and the county west of me is under a blizzard warning with us under winter storm warning. I've covered mirrors on truck and locked hubs so I could use both tomorrow. Have to go to my grandma's for X-mas. Gonna be so much fun driving in it.....NOT!!!

Had a busy day at work too today. We we do customer carry out and we couldn't keep up we had so many people there. Plus it was truck day so we were trying to do that too. Didn't get much done there. But since we were so busy we didn't worry about it much. lol. Funyy thing was that our nearest Wal*Mart was dead. Yipeeee!!! LOL

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Yay on the walmart being dead! We didn't go anywhere on Christmas Eve, we were getting torrential downpours, didn't have any plans to go anywhere anyway.

Let's see, we got a $50.00 gift certificate from my mom and Lynn to Olive Garden, $20.00 gift certificate to Chili's from Dave's childhood friend Greg and his wife, I got Dave a trailer ramp kit, he got me a Burr Coffee Grinder, and I bought us a kit for the Wii that has the steering wheel, tennis racket, golf club, and baseball bat, plus a NASCAR Cart racing game. We still haven't received our gifts from my dad and his girlfriend, not sure what's going on with that because they mailed them from Joplin Missouri 9 days ago and it only takes 3 days to get mail back and forth, but Dad said he's going to go to the PO today (It'll be Monday) and see what's going on.

Yesterday we went to Dave's Aunt Eller's house, sat and watched TV and had some good laughs. Dave's dad and step-mom heater went out in their house (they just live 2 blocks from Eller,) so Dave's step-mom was at Eller's and his dad went to work. We stayed there for probably 3 hours then came back home. Every time I go over there I feel like I'm entering a whole new demention of the world LOL

What did you all get for Christmas?

Looook what I got done yesterday!

I got 2 water bottles, a sweater, some funny western t-shirts, aqua globes, small blanket with horses on it, a metal western thing that has 3 hooks, watches, and a few other things I can't think of. Oh a few jigsaw puzzles.

I brought up an elephant ear a couple weeks ago and planted it in a pot so I could enjoy it thru winter time and guess what it did? It DIED on me!!! It's been hollowed out!! It was my Metallica one which I reeeeeally liked. lol. Now I have to buy another one because my father has the babies which I want him to keep. I thought I was done buying plants this winter. LOL

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

Oh, still snowing, have around 8 inches now, roads can't get cleared off and keep getting snow packed, drifts everywhere since it's a dry powdery snow and idiots have become idiots again and are on the roads in full force. Grrrrr......

Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)

I'm glad Christmas Eve is over. I could have lived without it. Christmas Day was quiet, at home, the 3 of us plus Jim. Christmas Eve has just set my mood for now :(

You know what? I've wrote, deleted it all and wrote again. I've done it about 5 or so times. I give up. I can't tell you about Christmas Eve without my eyes welling up.

Christmas Day, we woke to a temp of 41º!! It dropped drastically over the day. By noon we had snow! And then it snowed and snowed, till we ended up with about 6" out there! Of course it rained the night before, so that froze. Then it was sleeting before it snowed. But we did end up with a really white Christmas!! They had said last night we are to get about 2-3" more tomorrow.

pep, who is x (-mas) anyway??? I've always wondered who that is! ^_^

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

I was broken of using Xmas when I was in kindergarten. My grandmother said you're taking Christ and turning him into an X. Of course as a small child I honestly believed that because I had written Xmas, Jesus Christ was no longer a person but a huge X up in heaven. LOL

Snow snow and more snow, and we have a chance of getting ice. Joy.

My mom had a blizzard the other day in OKC and they're getting more today! LOL Good thing she can't drive anyway right at the moment, I just hope the weather is good when they go to Baltimore for her surgery in the middle of January.

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

I get tired of typing sometimes and just shorten words. lol.

We still have snow on the ground and it's not going anywhere. Have more snow coming tomorrow, up to 2 inches, then again on Monday. I'm not able to enjoy it because I've caught a cold it seems and I'm fighting it. lol.

Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)

I'm like Crissy. I was told using an x was taking Christ out. He's the reason for the season and all that ^_^

pepper, didn't you have rain, rain and more rain on Christmas Eve? And warm temps too? I don't mean 70º warm, but in the 40's anyway. It didn't get rid of all the snow, but it got rid of a lot of it. Now we got back though. I like snow.

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

No we got the exact opposite. We got alot of snow. It started out as rain Tues or Weds then became sleet then snow. We have around 8 inches of snow right now with more coming tomorrow. I love snow as long as I can get out and enojy it. I want to go sledding and go driving in it. lol

(Zone 7a)

"Xmas" was used long before the "Christmas". X represents a Greek chi, the first letter of Χριστος, "Christ." In this use, it is parallel to other forms like Xtian, "Christian." I found the use of "Xmas" as far back as 1485. I could, if I chose, write my daughter's name, "Xtal", Crystal.

Let's be careful before we look down others for using that and other words. Unless they're unacceptable on DG, we can use any word or term we like.

Okay, I've put the soapbox away. ^_^

We had a great Xmas. No noise, no people, no hassles. We had minimal presents and that's fine with us.

I had my BFF come into town Sunday night but she left yesterday, 3 full days before she would have, because her mother passed away unexpectedly. So sad.

I can't wait for this cherry tree to bloom again!

Very interesting kwanjin. I never knew that but have no problem when people use the term anyway.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

That means I could be Xine! LOL I'm so glad you looked that up, thank you Celia! I don't have a problem either, just brought back a memory of my childhood that I wanted to share and it wouldn't have made any sense if I hadn't added the whole Xmas ordeal that my grandmother had, and how we believe so many things we are told when we are young. I have found out as I grew up that a lot of my grandmother's stories were not so accurate, but more of things she wanted me to believe and knowing that she more than likely wouldn't be around when I found out the real truth! LOL

What a cute little cherry tree! What kind is it?

(Zone 7a)

My grandfather told me about the whole Xmas vs. Christmas thing. Words are fun to find out from where they came. (I just channeled my 3rd grade English teacher! LOL)

Xtine! I love it! That little cherry was sold to me as Weeping Cherry, 'Snow Fountain', but I don't think that's right. It's only 4' tall and they get 12'. Maybe it's the runt.

And this is Elderberry 'Black Lace'.

kwanjin,

Would you concider sending me a cutting of you Elderberry Black Lace? I love elderberries and want to grow some for jelly. Check my have list to see if I have anything you want.

(Zone 7a)

Unfortunately, it doesn't set berries. I would be glad to send you a cutting because the plant is very pretty.

Somerset, KY(Zone 6b)

I'll still take the cutting. It is a beautiful plant and will look great in my garden. I'm in the address exchange. Do you want me to send postage? How much?

Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)

Who said I was looking down my nose? It was a joke. I have a smile in there. Jeepers. People are sure taking my words literally anymore. Thinking maybe I should just give up.

Somerset, KY(Zone 6b)

terryr, I guess you and I will just have to stick together.I think we have this thread to ourselves.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

LOL Ya'll, Celia started a new thread, the link is a few posts up. Was wondering where you two went, I hate it when that happens!

(Zone 7a)

(sigh) I wasn't pointing imaginary fingers. I was making a statement and a clarification.
