Stop and visit, talk all you want #34

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

Our tree was free so we make room for it. LOL. I got it up but no decorations yet. Those are buried and it might be a 2 person job to dig them out. LOL

Poor Tony!!! LOL!!

(Zone 7a)

I feel bad for anyone I get the cell # for! I do not stop texting until they do. Huh, Crissy?

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

LOL. I'm a big texter too.

Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)

I would guess my "okey dokey' to Tony was a given to stop already...LOL I tell you though, I've been on this boy for how long? Almost 5 yrs? It's not hard work for crying out loud. And he knows the vent in the kitchen and 1 or 2 more needed in there, should have been done way long time ago. He knows our furnace guy was a crook and was "mean to me!!!"....lol...and he said he'd fix it, don't worry, so I don't worry until it's almost 5 yrs. later and it's freezing in the kitchen so we have to turn up the heat so it's even a little bit warm in there. Otherwise it's a space heater and our electric bill is too high running that electric thing....ugh. I really can ramble, can't I??? And it's not just on here! Oh no!! I ramble in person, I ramble on the phone and I most certainly ramble while texting!! Good thing it's not charging me per word...LOL ^_^ ^_^

(Zone 7a)

Ramble away! LOL We don't mind!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Shoot, they used to charge per character! Like 10 cents! Ridiculous since texting costs the phone companies nothing.

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

"I was born a Ramblin Man..." or in terry's case woman. LOL

Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)

He showed up!! He showed up!!! My gosh, he showed up!!! There really is a first for everything!!! But...now let's see how long it takes for him for to actually do the work! I know, hire somebody else. I don't want anyone else. Tony knows how I want it and Tony doesn't mind and doesn't listen anyway, to me and my anal way of thinking....LOL

Speaking of anal ^_^ , I got the tree "mostly" done today. I still have a something I want to add that I always add and it's a secret, but I decided to take pictures for you guys anyway. So I take my pictures and all is right with the world, right? Yea right!! I can't figure out how to get the battery-memory card door open!!! I don't know where John put the manual and I don't know where I put the cord...plus I don't know if I have to put the software on there anyway or not (if I use the cord) and I'm just really really frustrated...grrrrr....I'm going to go take a shower and lick my wounds...;p

Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)

I finally got our tree done to my satisfaction. Now it's a mess around it, lots of boxes still need to be put away...lol.

Here's a picture....oh, this is the downstairs tree, not the one upstairs....(I hope I got the right one!!)

Love the tree, the hutch, trim around windows, and the clock. LOL!

Today has been crazy!! I started laundry when I got home and when I thought it should be done I went downstairs to check on it and saw it had coded. I hit stop then I looked around and the whole area was flooded. I then tried to turn off the washer with no luck. Then the stupid thing started draining into the barrel and flooded even more! We run our water into a big barrel then run it thru a hose and water our trees with it. Turns out the hose was frozen which I had forgotten could happen. lol. I got it all cleaned up pretty quickly though. But both area rugs are soaked and one I was able to drag outside and hang on the deck so it could freeze dry. LOL

(Zone 7a)

Oh noooooooo!!! I hate when stuff like that happens. All cleaned up now?

Very pretty tree, Terry. When do we get to see the other one? Mine is going up today.

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

I had it cleaned up pretty quickly. Just the carpet needed to dry overnight and we kept a fan on it to speed it up. Not the first time it's happend and won't be the last. lol

My tree is finally decorated today! I will try to take pics tomorrow but I have a reconigtion dinner for volunteers tomorrow to go too. I volunteer at my old job once a week. Or did. Now that winter is here there's not as much to do so it will be special events now.

Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)

You mean the antique ice box? I love it too...lol I wasn't able to finish doing what I wanted to do because I ran out of the stuff. I love using "snow". The stuff you buy in a bag? Almost like a waxy type material, but it's never melted on me. Anyway, I always adorn the tree and everything else in the stuff, but I ran out. I took more pictures...and I'm not a very good picture taker. Never have been. Never will be.

Krista woke her dad up (I didn't hear her), yesterday morning about 6am. She had a bad pain on her side. John thought it might be her appendix, so he was taking her to the ER. I went to get up, but he pushed me back down and told me to sleep (I hadn't slept very well the night before). I was at the hospital around 9 (aren't I a bad mom?) and it wasn't her appendix, it's a kidney stone. I wanted her to stay in the hospital. They're better equipped to handle her and her pain than I am at home. It just made more sense to me. So anyway, as of last night, she still hadn't passed it. We get there this morning and first off she tells me to guess what she had for breakfast. She's on a liquid diet, so I have no clue...imagine my surprise when she says she had french toast!! And sausage...lol I didn't know if that meant she'd passed it or what, so I hit the nurse button. No, she hadn't passed it, but our doctor (and with insurance anymore), wouldn't keep her any longer. We'll take her tomorrow to get another CT Scan of her belly to see if it's moved and then up to the doctor. She told me she got right on her computer to tell Nathan (her boyfriend) and he's not on. She thinks he's probably mad because we were supposed to go shopping and then he'd come over after and he'd come over today. But she wasn't home, she was in the hospital..and he doesn't know that. So if he's mad? Gosh is she going to be upset!

O.k. I took a couple pictures of our fireplace and mantel....here's the first...

getting a little closer....(looks a little blurry to me)

and the tree upstairs which the picture isn't showing all the decorations and I don't get it...but then again the picture of the tree down here doesn't show everything on it either. I'm not good like I said...lol....

And did I say Thank you anyway?? jeez....my manners sometimes....

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

I hope Krista gets that kidney stone passed soon!!

Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)

Without getting too detailed on how you find it, I don't think she's passed it yet. If she has passed it, it didn't hurt and it didn't land where it was supposed to land ^_^

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

Poor Krista. lol

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Oh kidney stones hurt like a sob. Pretty trees and house Terry, good job! I've got to find my stockings and put them on the fireplace tonight.

(Zone 7a)

I got some stuff up last night but I'm too lazy to get pics.

My DB had a stone it took weeks for him to pass. They're awful! Good luck to Krista!

Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)

She passed it!! YEA!!! She didn't even know it. The drugs they gave her? X-Ray shows no stone though. She's had headaches for quite some time, so I told the doctor and of course he wants an MRI. I have to take her at 2pm for that.

Thanks on the house...it's what sold me. It's what I wanted, with all the cool wood work they did way back when. It's not in the picture, but to the left of the picture is a built in hutch. Mine isn't as cool as my sisters is, but still cool. Sisters doors have glass with leading inserts in them, mine are solid oak. I would love to talk to the original builders and the people that lived here too way back when. Just a picture would be nice.

We had snow Sun. night, then more snow last night and they're calling even more snow today, tonight and tomorrow. We did have blizzard conditions forecast, but I'm not sure if that still holds true. Last I saw, we did have a winter weather watch.

I got out my yearbook. My senior yearbook. There's this lady at a restaurant we go to and I know her but from where I know her, I can't figure out. I think school. Anyway, while attempting to pull out my yearbook, this other thing fell out. OMG, it's my senior picture. I had forgotten I had it. Can I go back??? Please? Pretty please?? With a cherry on top??? sigh

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

Terry you should still be under a blizzard warning. All of northern MO and southern IA is under it also. We just have a winter weather advisory here. But it has been raining all day with some sleet thrown in and now it's snowing. All the rain we had will freeze and going to work tomorrow is gonna be a pain.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

It's gotten windy here and fairly big dead branches keep falling off the trees and landing on the roof and rolling off. Sounds like man made thunder lol

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

At least you don't have black walnuts or hedgeapples landing on your roof. lol.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

No, it's big White Oak limbs and the roof is so pitched they roll right off, just as long as they're too small to come through the roof.

(Zone 7a)

Did everyone survive yesterday?

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

I did!! I have a dr appt in the morning for a x-ray of my foot. He better not put me on crutches, I won't use them!

(Zone 7a)

How about a cane?

Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)

cripes almighty! We're sort of on the edge of the blizzard. We didn't get all the snow, that say the quad cities got. Amazing. Drive not even 45 miles west and they have over a foot of snow. We have about 6". The wind is blowing at who knows how many miles per hour. They're calling for gusts up to 50 mph. yee haw. The state of IA, the whole dang state, has basically been shut down. Really this is nothing...lol...we've had lots worse...LOL What made this bad was the constant changing between rain/sleet/snow that it was doing. Temps are falling to 20 for a daytime high. Tonight is supposed to 4, but the wind chill will be??

Took Krista out to get her MRI and saw this lady sitting there...gosh I know her...and then somebody comes into the room and says a name and asks how who I know is her husband (now that I've figured out who she is). My goodness! She's lost half of herself...lol! She looks great. But then her husband comes...a big guy, a retired cop....and for some reason I was looking down and...what the heck? Why is he wearing pj bottoms? I look up and I'm shocked. I found out later that he needs a new liver. The things you don't know....

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

LOL Cripes Almighty! Love it, haven't heard that in years, my mom used to say that all the time. Now she just says, "Oh S&^&*"

Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)

Standing at Best Buy talking to "Gonzo", and asking him about doing smily faces on the new laptops. So I'm trying them here, but then he goes and get a new customer ^_^

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

Survived storm but it has been crazy. We missed the worse of it. Just got maybe a half inch of ice with an inch of snow and winds that were strong but nothing major.

Lost phone service sometime this week so just now getting back on and catching up real quick before I leave. Then a neighboring town lost power 2 days ago. So was talking to friends and checking on them. They lost power about 5:30pm, got some of it up at 11pm and the rest by 5am the next day. They were all freezing to death because temps dropped to 0 deg then wind chills were -10 to -25. Luckily we didn't get hit since we are on a totally different system.

Des Moines got 16 inches and with the wind making visibilty almost nothing they had to shut down just about everything. Even major highways were shut down because they couldn't see and snow plows were getting stuck. Just plain crazy!!

BUT..... beware of the next storm coming off the coast now. Celia, you will get hit first. It's a whopper from what I've heard.

(Zone 7a)

Thanks, Pep. That's what we're hearing, too. All I can say about this next storm is, at least it won't be as cold. It should be here by tomorrow. Yuck!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Yea, next storm isn't good. We will see. I made chocolate cream pie last night and it tastes horrible, I guess I burned the chocolate. I had one cook and serve package, from now on it's instant!

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

LOL crissy!! Chocolate pie can be hit and miss when not made with instant. I find I like instant better anyway taste wise.

Celia, you getting hit with the storm yet? Hope it's not too bad.

(Zone 7a)

The storm is almost upon us. Not worried about tonight but I am about tomorrow. Between 4"-8" is what they're saying. I don't like the reports of rain mixing with the snow. That makes icy roads and Darrell has to drive those. It's scary!

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

Icy roads are definitely worse than snowy roads!!!

Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)

What storm? Is there a storm coming? I guess I haven't been paying enough attention..lol It was weird how parts of IA got the snow but a few miles away didn't get much. They all got the rain mixed with ice, going back to rain, then sleet....man it was a mess. This morning it was pretty foggy. By 1am it wasn't too bad, still somewhat, just not as bad. We paid Best Buy to put the new Windows 7 on Krista's laptop and I'll put it on the others. I didn't know you had to get on some list with Windows. Weird. The mouse on this is bizarre. I see they didn't fix it. Then last night ours pooped out on me when I was going to get on here.

Tony was here tonight fixing the vent in the kitchen and adding another. I want another under or on the toe kick under the cabinets on the other side of the kitchen, but he's trying to talk me out of it. He wants me to get the heat thing you're supposed to put under the tiles. It's too late for that, but he says you can put it under the floor. The underneath side, the basement side. I don't know. Sounds hokey to me. I'm also going to have him put a humidifier on the furnace. Too much static in here.

Never watched 'The Big Bang Theory', but it's on and it's funny...lol....

(Zone 7a)

The storm hardly amounted to anything here. It did rain and snow and it was icy but not bad.
