Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

I'm trying to get into all of my retarded Facebook games and Fish World is giving me problems, but I have to feed my fish!!

(Zone 7a)

You don't want dead electronic fish gooping up your computer!!! Ah ha ha ha ha!!!

Who's doinf what tomorrow? We have 12 people for TGD and I have so much to do still. I haven't cleaned the bathrooms or the floors. I still have a pecan pie to make and food to buy. Arrrrrgh!

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Kwanjin...a quick sweep now, and mop after the guests...that way you only have to mop once....they are coming to see you, not your floor hopefully....grin

(Zone 7a)

I've been having trouble getting to the floors for a month! LOL I must have Darrell clean them. I can do the sweeping but not the mopping. He gets to vacuum, too. Lucky him!

Thank goodness my mom isn't here. She'd never let me forget the dirty floor! LOL

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

That's why we keep them around....grin Ditto on my Mom....I can just hear her....lol

(Zone 7a)

LOL We were having a celebration for our engagement and mom said, "Maybe you could lose some weight before the wedding." She sure was one for not holding back!

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

I guess it is hard for Mom's for their children to be any less than their perfect image....gotta love them even if they make you crazy sometimes....grin

(Zone 7a)

Indeed! My DD is 31 and I STILL see a little thing in pigtails. I can't NOT see that.

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

Not doing much tomorrow. We pushed the family dinner to Friday afternoon so the ones who have to run around can do that and not have to worry about not being able to relax. Eating chicken and noodles tomorrow and turkey Friday. lol

I ended up working today since a coworker called and begged for me to fill in for him today then I have to work Friday and Saturday. Sat I did have off but one of the bosses asked if I wanted to work. lol. Fine by me. I need the money!! lol

HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!!!! I hope you have a great day and enjoy all that we have together!

I am thankful first of all for my DH Dave. He's wonderful, has worked every day for almost 30 days straight, about to get laid off (praying very very hard he doesn't) and yet goes to the store and buys all of this stuff to make us, me and him, and full blown Thanksgiving Feast, plus all of the countless hours of yard work, house work, regular cooking, and taking me out to dinner that he does.

Second, I am thankful for all of you here on DG. You all are such a blessing in my life, I don't know what I ever did without you and don't plan on ever being without you in my life. I never knew that online friends could be so wonderful to have, and I have learned so much from you about so many different things in life.

I love you all! (and no I didn't take that from the Wizard of Oz LOL)

Hello Celia, Terry, Pepper, Crissy and Moon.

Happy Thanksgiving to you all.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

You too, Judy. Hope you guys have a happy day and maybe even some sunshine...grin

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

Happy Thanksgiving!! Lots of sun here though we only reached low 40s. Still not bad. lol

(Zone 7a)

We had 47º yesterday. Very nice. Lots of food and fun! 50º and sunny today.

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

66 today and tomorrow with it back in 40s on Sunday. I'm enoying it while it lasts!! lol

(Zone 7a)

I made Darrell get me a small turkey to cook since none got left at my house on Thursday. It's in now and almost done. The cats have decided to best place to stand is right in front of the oven! LOL

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

We have a 20 pounder we're gonna cook for Christmas. But we got our turkey last night for the season though we didn't get to take leftovers home. lol

(Zone 7a)

Ours was 8 1/2lbs. and perfect for just us. And it was delish!!! It was, also, frozen and I cooked it for 4 1/2 hrs. It came out perfect.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CELIA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Have a great day and Eat Cake! LOL

Hi Judy and Moon! So glad you're here!

We have a lot of our 16# turkey left, going to have some in an omelet then a sandwich for lunch then we're going to freeze it. I was going to go get another one since they're way cheap now but I'm not sure. I ordered a ham for Christmas, but I'm sure if I can find a small turkey like Celia did I'll get it.

We had sunshine every day but today, supposed to rain today. Blew, raked, and burned leaves yesterday, put the fall stuff away and got Christmas out, I put the tree up while Dave put the lights on the house, and we went visiting. We were going to go look at Christmas lights but we were both so tired from the days events we just stayed home. I'm going to do some crafting today, got a snowman to paint with Betty's instructions.

Have a great day everyone and Celia, have a great birthday, girl!!

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Kwanjin, just wanted to wish you a very happy Birthday. Hope you have a sweet day and all your birthday wishes are granted.

Happy Birthday, Celia

Happy Birthday Celia, Hope your day was wonderful.

Waiving Hi Back Crissy and Moon...

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CELIA!!

Just got back from seeing a friend who lives 45 min from here. Took another friend who lives 45 min the other way with me so she could see her place. Had alot of fun. lol

(Zone 7a)

Thanks, everybody!!! We have fun. Sam's Club was the highlight of the day, though. Next Sunday, we're having cake and ice cream at my DB's house.

Glad you had fun, Pep.

Waving at everyone, too!!! LOL

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Morning!! I'll be back later!

(Zone 7a)

K!!!

Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)

Oh Celia! I missed your birthday?? I'm so sorry! Hope it was happy!!! Today is my baby's 27th!!! I don't know how she got so old!!!

Thanksgiving was alright...lol The meal John helped me prepare was pretty good. 8lb bird cooks a lot quicker than they say on different websites though. Ah well, it rested and had a good nap while everything else cooked!

Crissy, I too am thankful for my wonderful, loving husband. Without him, I'd be lost. He is my heart and soul. Lately he's been my hands too!

Judy! Where have you been? How have you been?? Hope you had a great Thanksgiving!

Moon/Jean, I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving also!

pepper, well, you worked, hope it was fun...ROFL

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Thanks, Terry, nice and quite, DH worked off at 5AM Thursday, so slept all day....had a non-traditional meal and kicked back for a quiet evening. Kids are scattered, so just us and Grandson. Watched a movie and hung out....so strange, but after almost 38 years of BIG TG's a pleasant evening.

Hope your TG was everything you hoped it to be. Sounds like all had a good time overall.

A big wave hello from rainy LA.

(Zone 7a)

No worries, Terry. Darrell forgot until about 10pm last night. LOL I didn't really care. He's such a sweetheart, I can't be mad at him.

Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)

Jean, I wish my hands worked better! They're still not gripping very good after the double carpal tunnel surgery I had a few months ago. John cut a lot of things...he did let me cut up some things. A very quiet day for us, that's for sure. John's disabled brother was our only guest. It was sunny here earlier, but the sun is going down now, so it's gone away.

Celia, Darrell sounds like me...lol I always forget peoples birthdays! One time I didn't remember John's birthday until we were heading to bed! I felt horrible...lol.....

Gosh, I forgot to tell you guys...my Charlie Brown Christmas tree has finally bit the dust I do believe. First, John brought the tree down from the attic. The staircase is really narrow, it's steep too, and I know he has a heck of a time taking it up or bringing it down. Anyway, he gets it down and it's late because we had done a bunch of other things that day, so I told John to just plug in the lights. I have the coolest lights ever. They have 6 settings on them, you can make the lights do a lot of different "twinkles". I really dig these lights. Well, about half don't work. And it's not the bulb either that doesn't work, it's the wiring. We went and got some different bulbs Sat. I couldn't find anything as cool as these and I only bought these at Target. The bulbs we ended up, because I wanted twinkling, are the most obnoxious blue hued bulb!!! They're LED (and they're cool white, didn't have warm white) and I guess that's why? Blinded by the light, that's for sure. John was putting them on and a branch came off. Then I was trying to straighten a lower branch last night and it came off in my hand. I swear. I love this tree. It's just a very rustic tree...you can see bark all along the trunk, the branches aren't real close together, I don't know, I just love this tree. I bought it at an antique store. I ordered this tree from a place I didn't realize at the time of ordering, was here, in IL. It's a Balsam Fir. Where do you all put your trees? I'd love to put it in front of the front picture window, but I have a couch there. How do I make the couch disappear and still look good? So far in this house, I've always put it in the dining room. The parlor has too much furniture, the living room has too much furniture....where else? I do have another tree that's in front of the balcony door upstairs. It's relegated upstairs because I really don't like the tree much. It's one of those "why did I ever buy that ugly thing?"!! I forgive myself because that tree is probably 15 or better yrs old.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Terry, I got this some sort of fir from WalMart 2 years ago, it's 6 1/2 ft tall and pretty, but it's a mother to put together. The whole time I was putting it together I was cussing a blue streak, I hate this tree, I hate this tree, I hate this tree, Honey did I tell you that I hate this tree? LOL Mine is right in front of the front window. I have a wood floor slab that has a dining light, so I put a bar table and stools under it. I've moved those over and put the tree just to the right of the light. Love this house!

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

Normally our tree would be up by now but we were too busy running around and in my case working over the weekend to get the tree out. Normally it goes between the picture window and the bannister in the corner. We have to move a chair over by our recliner to get it to fit and scooch the lamp and other chair over about a foot. LOL. But the tree is about 6 1/2 feet tall, has built in lights and is either easy or a pain to put together depending on my mood and how tangled the cords are. LOL.

(Zone 7a)

We put our tree between the TV and the fireplace, in the corner. It's a 6' fir from Rite Aid we got about 4 years ago. I put it together and strung lights on it that stay on the tree. We hang gold and red apple ornaments on it and call it our Xmas Pine Apple tree. I'll get a pic when I get it put up this week.

Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)

It came already! I hope it's not a bear to put together...lol! All your trees sound very pretty :) I guess one would say it's not really that our rooms are too small, but rather I have too much furniture. This house though, I don't know, the rooms are smaller in older homes. Of course I didn't know when I bought the gray couch we'd move back to IL and when we did, we'd need a new couch and it didn't hardly go with my brown chair. Call me fussy....lol I could put it in the foyer (the tree not the couch!!!), but then I'd never see it unless I was going up or down the stairs and that just won't do....don't mind me as I talk to myself...lol

I wanna see pictures. Crissy, I wanna see a picture of how you can fit a full (is it full?) in the space? Gosh, even at our way other house before we moved to TN and back, a full size tree (a real one) was way too wide. That was pretty much the reason we went with a fake tree. That and my dog (my dog Cricket (God Bless her little soul), would drink the water out of the tree stand. I was told to put bleach in the water to keep the tree fresher longer, but I couldn't because I knew she was drinking the water. pepper, I think I understand, but does your fit in that space? Is it a full? They had full, narrow, slim and pencil. I thought i could do a narrow, but even that was too full, too wide. Remove all the furniture from our parlor and maybe that would work...lol Celia, yes, I want a picture please!! Our tree came with no lights and we put them on. It was put away every year, always had an attic so it didn't need to be broken down, so the lights stayed on it. Now this one came with a, what looks like a nice bag since the box hasn't been opened yet, and the tree stays standing to put away. I'm not sure if you're supposed to take it apart. My parents had a tree long time ago, that when you took it apart, put it together, took it apart, after awhile it wouldn't hold anymore. Jeez, duct tape to the rescue...lol..I'm just joking. We had to get rid of that branch! That was such a sad tree...lol I meant to do this yesterday but I see I didn't....LOL

Here's my tree. Here's the tree I REALLY wanted, but they're all sold out
http://www.balsamhill.com/Silverado-Slim-by-Napa-Christmas-p/sdo-t.htm
The second one...I still drool over. I absolutely love that tree. See how the branches go all the way to the floor? Story of my life, always all sold out...lol

I'm not going to try and set this up and John has gone to work, so I'll patiently wait until tomorrow to set it up. I can't wait!!

Brockton, MA(Zone 6a)

Hi yall. It says 'tell a story', I'll be brief.
Through unintended circumstances I found myself at Best Buy on Black Friday morning. I don't much care for shopping and hate crowds but this was a timely matter about a major appliance purchased Wednesday.
The customer service line was long and slow. A local newspaper photographer showed up as I neared the desk, he crouched down for shots. Cool. I was like 4 th in line behind a big guy, peaking out. The photographer took his time, I got tired of peeking.
The next day, there was my foot on the front page.
ROTFLMAO

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

LOL Andy! Too funny!

Terry dmail me your email and I'll email you some pics of the tree

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

LOL Andy!!!

Well, I got our tree down off the shelf and to the base of the stairs. But had to leave it for my dad to bring up cause it's too big and akward for me to get it up and not either break my back or tear up the house. LOL.

Terry, I would say it's a full tree but I could be wrong. When it's up I will take a pic for you. It's a 3 piecer.

Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)

Too funny Andy...LOL

pep, a full tree in the size I ordered, depending on the type of tree, is in the high 50's to 70" wide. That's too wide. They always do width, or diameter of the tree. Not circumference, but the diameter...so side to side or front to back. We simply don't have that much room. Even if I did put it in the foyer, our foyer isn't that big. The tree I ordered is 41" wide. I don't know. I'm afraid that it's too tall and will look too thin, but I don't know.

Somebody drive up here and pick a spot for my tree. Maybe I'm not looking at it right. I'll take a picture when it's up and decorated.

That reminds me. I don't have a cell phone with a plan. Mine is just a TracFone. John wanted one to be able to have when he's gone somewhere or to work, so I can get a hold of him. I gave him mine and got a new one. Mine takes pictures. Do they usually come with a cord to upload a picture onto a computer? I didn't get one. I know, I got what I paid for and I'm not complaining, just wondering ;)

I've been spending money this afternoon!!! Good grief. I always do this. It's Christmas and I'm supposed to be looking for something for others, but oh! I want this! I want that!! ROFLMAO

Coming to dmail you after I hit send Crissy...lol...

(Zone 7a)

Welcome, Andy!!!

I have an SIL in the movie The Stand. You can clearly see her elbow as she sits at a park bench! LOL

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

Terry, my tree came to about 55" when I measured. It's not exact but my arms are only so long. LOL. The tips of some of the branches touch the wall so I went from the wall out.

Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)

pep, 55" would be way too w-i-d-e!!! John got ours up and I must say, she's pretty!! She's not completely all fluffed out yet, so no decorations, just the lights. I really wanted to get all the decorations out and about early. I don't like that they're not out for a month. All that work just to put it all away....

Tony (our carpenter) is sorry he showed me how to text. I've been texting him all afternoon...lol....my phone is dinging now with his latest reply....LOL Poor Tony!!!
