well I was gonna go to springfield today but both my mom and Allan are sick, and I'm not feeling so hot myself, so I'm staying put

It is so dark and rainy. I don't feel so good either. Silly Kitty is out playing in the rain! It is just kind of sprinkling. As long as she doesn't hear thunder, she doesn't mind getting a little wet.

My plants are depressing me! The minature rose starts Trina sent me are dying. The dogwood sprouts are dying. The yucca-like plant has yellow in the lower leaves and the core. The snake plants are getting pale. The corn-like plant leaves aren't standing as tall. Fortunately, at least the rest of my plants are the same.

I am cleaning up the rest of the marigold seeds today. Yuck!

Dave, thanks for the photos. A great way to start the day by seeing some dead animals!! LOL

Venice have you ever started roses before? If they die completely I wil just take new starts and try rooting them for you like I am doing for JJ. with roses I usually take 3 to 5 cuttings and put them all in the same spot. with our funky weather this year I was haing a hard time getting any of them to root so I started making the starts in the house and then taking them outside. Just let me know....And good morning!

I haven't started roses before but I have killed 3 regular size rose plants before.

I was thinking of putting my rose start outside with my other mini. It doesn't look as nice as when Trina sent it, the little leaves are dying. I think it would do better in it's natural environment.

On mine when I make starts the leaves always die so I just pick them off. Its dead if the main stem turns more than 2/3 black

You should see Trina's list. It is absolutely amazing!!! She has got it so detailed you wouldn't believe it! It is beautiful!

I found a Hershey Snack Bar in the back of my cupboard. Just that bit of chocolate has perked me up (you know since I don't drink coffee). I feel better.

I have a plant question. In order to put something on my trade list I need to know the genus, species, and cultivar.

For example this is the info on the Blackie Sweet Potato Vine on the DG file. So if I add this to my trade list I only fill in the G, S, and C. But I don't understand all this other info above it. If I send a seed package, what name do I put on it???

Carol, the black Sweet Potato is a cultivar. There's a good chance that the plants that grow from your Sweet Potato seed won't look like the parent.
To share the cultivar, you need to either send a cutting of the vine or a tuber.

I should have said tuber or cutting. Mine didn't have seeds but they are so hardy that a snipet works better.

They are coming from Lac Du Flambeau, Wi.
It's a 6 hour drive.
