I think Trina got that package she's been waiting for.

By the way, I would have never thought of this - another good way to ward off germs during this season is to use your own pen at either the doctors office or the prescription counter of the pharmacy. A lot of those people are sick!

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

And yes I got my package from Lari Ann...that woman can take a cutting now let me tell you! hot diggity awesome!

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Hope all of you are well, all though wet like me it seems!

Moon, beautiful artwork! And the wood burnings are amazing.

Trina, I hope you are noting perennial or annual each in a separate column so you can sort by each.

Moon, I don't know what to do with these iris Smiley sent me. Do I just keep them in wet newspaper until I can plant them? Also, the turtle leaves are pretty dry. Do I keep the roots in water or just in wet newspaper?

I did mix all the soils together like you suggested. It looked like a mix of some rich top soil, potting soil, some sand, and at least 6 nice worms, better than what I put my plants in. I still have a lot left. It is in a closed bin. I would like to use some of that for my early spring starts. Do I need to spray it or anything?

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

yes Venice I am...thank you so much!

Ok here's number 1 this is Philodendron stenolobum

Venice, if you keep the turtlehead roots wet, they should be OK. I don't think it matters if you put them in water or keep them wet with newspaper. I'm not surprised the leaves are dry - in winter only the stalk with the flower heads survive, which makes it kind of interesting.

I so happy! dance dance dance!

she had them all bagged and netted, she said she'd just send me some cuttings but they all have roots! WAAAAAAAAAY better then what I expected!

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

Venice, how long before you get outside? If it's only a couple days, you could probably keep the newspaper moist. If it would be much longer, would you have a pot that you could put them in for the meantime?

I'm just winging it, mind you...

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

Ok I have to go lay down now! just wanted to share!

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Today and tomorrow we are suppose to have rain. But starting Saturday, it should be dry. So I will be able to plant them on the weekend depending on how soggy the ground it. So I guess the iris will be ok.

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Trina, when you get up from your nap, can you take a photo of how she had those leaves wrapped??

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

they were all carefully wrapped with some thin paper stuff and tied. then the root ends she placed in baggies with some moist brown stuff, then she slipped netting, like for onions ony better quality, around them and used twist ties at both ends....I wish I would have taken a picture of the box and how it was packed and everything, cause I never would have thought all of them would have fit in that box!

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Trina, I got your box mailed. You should get it by Saturday. I will have to do better in packaging.

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

hey I'm still learning how to package these things myself. I always Hope I get it right and whatever I send makes it there ok!

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

LariAnn Garner is with AroidResearch in Miami. Her job is playing with plants and learning to make new ones....how cool is that?

Venice wrap the roots gently a couple sheets of newspaper or papertowels.etc and wet the paper well. Set the wet wrapped plants in some of the pots you got....as many plants as will comfortably fit and set them in a cool place away from direct sun...keep the paper damp, not soaking wet....they should keep for a week or so providing you protect the roots from exposure to air and do not let them get too wet nor dry out.

Cool Philos....Trina. LariAnn grows cool stuff.

Dixie, I sure hope you got yourself a Taco Salad...Jessup won't be safe til you do...grin

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

yes she does....some of them are big old monsters! I love it!
