New bees chit chat thread...Seed Junkies welcome 09/27/09
I think fall blew in with the thunderstorm last night. It is a blustery 61 degrees here.
Flower, if you are looking at the difference in the bush it self- the leaves should be different. You should be able to look at the leaf and see the difference. Can you take a picture of the leaf or plants?
Yea, Tubby, I guess we're not as bright as the kids, it looked the same to me.
Seray, your gardens are georgeous.
Did you guys go look at the brug blooming on the brug forum- thread from greenthumbtn? Man that is pretty.
It so windy here right now, it blew down my red castor bean bush/tree. I went ahead and pulled it out of the bed. I'll get the seed pods off it, but like the dark purple/black one better anyway. Don't know why it blew down one and not the other ones.
I gathered some more seeds today since the sun is out and drying some more of them.
Well, I'm off for a while, back later.
A black, red and white garden would be interesting. Not goth certainly but interesting nonetheless.Everything in my DS apartment is red and black so maybe I'll do a little one in his honor.
Up Date on the kids with flu. Thanks for all the prayers, they are doing great! So much better now. I really appreciate all the prayers and they did also.
Mornin' everyone!
Back to the rat race I call work - lol. Mekos - glad to hear the babies are doing better.
I had a busy busy weekend with church and football and basketball and laundry and this new business my DH and I are working on and wishing for cooler weather . . .
It's supposed to be near 108° today - argh! I'm soooooo over this heat! It's kinda scaring me that all my peeps are getting their gardens ready to shut down for winter and us here in the blasted furnace called the Southwest are barely thinking about planting and enjoying our gardens through the winter . . .
loca
wow seray your garden pic is beautiful.... I can grow plants but making groupings that look great together is just not my thing YET...I keep looking and now that I have more seeds, ill have more plants to work with ....maybe that will help lol
Loca, you didn't tell us about your new business. Come on, give it up. I want details.
I had read a review in a gardening magazine about this book so I found it on eBay. It's called Perennial Combinations by C Colston Burrell. It retailed for 29.95, I paid 3.00 for it. It is a wonderful aid in helping put plants combos together. I need all the help I can get in that department!
mekos,
The blue plant you called a noid is called Ageratum blue mist I believe. It looks exactly like what I have here and that is what I have.
Hey guys... I trimmed the lower branches of my Rose of Sharon Minerva and have a TON of cuttings if anyone wants them for SASBE.. Dmail me
Yeah KT2 Spill. What are you two doing down there? AM I going to have come down there and see for myself?Tell us more Lolly...what do we group together? I thought is was maybe cat mint or something of that nature. I have a couple I need some Id for .Ill show you in a bit.
mekos - I think flower is right on the ID on your plant. My mom has one and the name flower gave rings a bell.
On the new business - we're representatives for a company that sells telecommunications services. Something we decided to do on the side. I really like it so far!! You own your own business and work at your own pace selling services we all use every day like wireless, internet, phone service, home security, satellite TV, etc. It was a small initial investment which in this economy is a good thing - lol.
I don't think we are allowed to promote our businesses and such on the forums per Dave's policy, but I'd be happy to send the link to my website to anyone who wants to check it out. Just send me a d-mail!
I figured if I added anything else to my already full plate, it had to be something that wouldn't take away any more gardening time. Now that fall is approaching I can really get into high gear and sow all the wonderful seeds I've received from all you peeps! I want a show-stopper yard for spring, at least in my dreams - lol. I figure I'll plant plant plant and then deal with moving stuff later on if I have to!
Tubby - let me know if you're ready for the "Blackie" cuttings and I'll root some to mail out to you on Monday. I'll send some rooted and unrooted since they root pretty easily in plain 'ol water. Let 'em get a few roots (takes just a few days) then pot them up. Easy as pie...
Woo Hoo!!! Kelly, we are in business together!!! Yippee! Remember me telling you I had a partner in Scottsdale? Have you met them yet? Have you met Kathi? You are going to love this business!!!! Tell Kathi I said Hi!
Edited to add:
Do you have your video phone yet? DM me for my number and we can talk for free! Yippee! Still planning on being there in Oct with my sis, so we can definately get together! Yippee!

HI Everyone
Just a quick pop in to say HI and see what everyone is up to. Heard from KT3 she said she will be back with us here soon as she catches up on things.
Going out to finish diging up the shady bed.
Hey Sandi!
Sending you a d-mail - lol.
Glad to hear KT3 is alive and well and escaped the clutches of our dear friend Lucy!
Yea, I wondered if Lucy got her. You know my mail lady said she read a name on a package that came through the post office and it had a name on it that I send seeds to sometimes. I think she said it was going to Maine?!? Anyone know anything about a package headed that way? I wonder what it could be? Huummmmm????
mekos - the black pansy did indeed sprout.. one has tiny black flowers, the other.. well.. not so black..ROTFL.. can you say 'Hot Pink'??? must be a hybrid and its sprouting int he likeness of one of the parents. I kept it in the goth bed... one tiny pink flower in all that darkness..ROTFL
Great Cue, they may have got a different seed in by mistake when packaging. Glad they sprouted and can't believe they are blooming already. Wow. Did your african poinsettia do ok? Mine is turning red on top. Was until it rained so much but I'm sure with the sun shining again, it will continue to turn. It's getting pretty. I couldn't believe the wind took out my red castor bean today. Took it up by the roots. I decided not to replant since it is so big and probably wouldn't stay planted. And my hybiscus seedlings are doing great. They are growing by leaps and bounds. How is your black dragon doing? Did it do ok? You are going to have to take pictures, Cue.
hey mekos i got a package on mistake, that was heading to maine too why it came to me i sent it on its way went to litchfield or something like that was a nice size package if i say so my self some lucky duck
blondie
Hey Blondie, you home from work yet? I heard something about a stray package being passed around the us somewhere. Heard anything about that? You didn't hijack it did you?
Woohoo! Got a package in the mail today from Seray!! Hosta seeds, plus giant lily!! (what a surprise!!) Now what size pot do you put an 8 foot lily in? Teehee!! Thanks Seray!!
Hey we posted at the same time.
i had it but i sent it on its way why the post office would go south instead of north i guess to cold for them to deliver up north so south it came, i guess i should of checked it out first and make sure it is okay
blondie
Hope it makes it soon, I hear cold weather up that way right now. Anyone else heard anything about this mysterious package? Where it might be right now?
A package to Maine???? Litchfield Maine??? What are you two up to? I have seen no package except the one that KT1 hijacked with the black lily in it....

blondie
