Hi Trina & Venice! Everyone else busy tonight?? I just came home from open house at school. Had to spend 15 minutes in each classroom & follow the kids schedule. Kind of fun. Girl is the yearbook editor this year. Boss lady. The cameras are amazing, $10,000 each, I was drooling.

Off to bed, this is the 1st I've sat down today.

Have a good night Ladies!

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

'Night Smiley! Wow, what a camera (s)!

'Night Trina! Try to put all this seed stuff out of your mind for a while! Have a good restful and peaceful sleep!

Marinette, WI(Zone 4b)

trina, check the size on your printer before you print the packets off.
I had that problem too. My son's printer was printing them off way to big. So I had to go in and change the setting so they printed smaller and fit the page.

OK, back to reading here

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Kassy, I put these in my favorites also so when I get around to do packets I can decide what to do. Thanks!

Marinette, WI(Zone 4b)

Your welcom venice

I have done a number of packets like these.

Hi Gang. Looks like I'll live. Me and the doc have an agreement. He excepts what my insurace pays and I don't get a bill for the balance. So, he has me coming every three months, he weighs me, checks my blood pressure and listens to my heart, asks me how I feel and when and I going to bring him some more fresh vegetables.

Racael, my son told me a blond joke he heard in Denver. A pretty little blond related it to him. A little different, the joke wasn't on the blond.

Now to get serious, I have to tell someone about this and you guys are elected by aclamation.

Last night I went to one of the nursing homes in our area with "Team Kids." There ages ran from 3 to 12, had about 40 of them. They sang four or five songs, and boy can those little guys sing. The folks in the home really enjoyed it. After the little program was over, they passed out a gift bag to all the residents. Not much, a bar of soap, personal packs of kleenix and raisins. Now the tears begin to roll. I was standing at the back of the room watching all that took place. When the first little girl gave her gift to a lady, she spontanously gave her a great big hug. My soul, what a beautiful smile came across that lady's face. As if on cue, all the other kids passed out their gifts and followed with hugs. One little lady was sitting in a wheel chair behind a table with several people in front of her. When she saw what was happening, she immediately extended both her arms. She didn't reach for a gift, she was reaching for a child to hug and love on. She was getting a little frantic when finally one little girl saw her and ran around the table to give her a hug. You have never seen such joy on a persons face as that lady had while she was loving on that little girl. There was a big ole rough looking man at a table where I was standing and one of the boys came over with his gift. The man took it and thanked him, then the boy reached out his arms a grabbed that man around the neck and hugged him big time. All of a sudden that big man got something in his eye because he had to grab his hankerchief and wipe them. After we left the kitchen, we went down the halls to the rooms of those who weren't able to come to give them their gift. Way down at the end of the hall, we went in to a room that housed an older black lady. None of the kids were with us so we gave her the gift and were fixing to leave. All of a sudden in ran a little three year old boy. He ran right to the lady and climbed up in her lap and she just loved and loved on him. "Dat's my baby, dat's my baby," with tears running down her cheek. It was one of the most memoriable things I have ever been a part of. Isn't it amazing that the kids sensed what those folks really needed, a child to hug them.

Marinette, WI(Zone 4b)

It's amazing, it's it Jim. Those people love it when kids are around and animals too.

I don't think I told you, but I worked in nursing homes for 11 years.

Glad to hear all is ok....
Hey, can I be your DR? I can weigh you, take your B/P, pulse and resperations, and listen to your heart, if you bring me some fresh vegetables, in the winter ;-)

Delhi, LA

Sounds like fun to me. He is from Bangledesh. Most of the time I can understand him. He's a good guy. I've seen so many horror stories with doctors over the last thirty years that I am real choicy. Just because they have an M.D. behind their name doesn't mean a lot sometime.

Marinette, WI(Zone 4b)

OH, that I know Jim.
I was seeing one here and all of a sudden got a notice that she was no longer with them. Hmmmmmmm, made me wonder why?

The next one I went to, wanted to see more often then I needed to be seen, so that one is history too.

On to the next one, and so far he is OK. I'm waiting for him to retire though so I have to find another one.........LOL

Know what you are talking about. What is supposed to be one of the premier orthopedic surgeons in our area, operated on a lady I know. Did a knee replacement. She kept have problems and he wouldn't see her. Finally had to go to Baton Rouge before an orthopedic doctor would see her. The guy had cut the bone off to much and the prothesic extended to far out of the bone causes it to work back and forth. Cracked the bone and nothing could be done for. A healthy older woman with a lot of life to life is now a cripple. That's just one of many stories I know. One of the foremost neuro-surgents wattles when he walks and quacks a lot.

I thought I had lost my chives. They came up and then started dying. I thought I was watering them to much and cut back, then we started to get all this rain and now they are doing great. Still got a pretty good stand. I guess I wasn't getting them wet deep enough or else the planter was drying out faster than I thought.

Marinette, WI(Zone 4b)

That could be Jim. None of our chives are in planters. Ours die back every winter, and then come back up every spring.

I even forgot that I had some growing here............LOL
Can you tell how much I use them here? Bought a small bunch at one time for my DIL because she liked them, but she doesn't even use them. Maybe I should check to see if there are any seeds left in them yet this year and save them, just in case.

If anything should happen and you need more, let me know, and I will get them for you when I can ^_^

Oh, and my Dead Hen from the Hen and Chicks gave me seeds ^_^
Boy, are those things tiny!

Delhi, LA

That's great, Kassy. Plenty more for next year. Wonder how old they will have to be to bloom?

Did I tell you I built 2 more 20' beds? Gonna have room to plant a lot of new stuff next year. Think I heading back for the 260 mark. Naw, veggies aren't fattening. Unless you fry them in butter. Yep, headed in that direction.

Hope the rain lets up tomorrow. Been raining everyday for a week and got several more in the forecast. Fill sorrow for our farmers. This is a critical time for the crops. Beans and cotton will soon start rottening in the field if they don't get some sun.

Didn't know it was so darn late, guess I better hit the hay.

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

Morning Everyone! Happy Friday!

(Cathy), MO

Good morning all. Looks like we had a few night owls last night! :-) I've never been able to stay up real late. More of an early morning person. When 9 or 9:30 rolls around, I am drooping big time!

Glad the drs visit went well Jim. And I know what you mean about the old folks needing hugs. The church I used to go to would go and sing at an old folks home once a month. And they seemed to enjoy any kids that were with us, more than the songs. My daughter is a nurse in one, and she takes her 2 yr old in every now and then, just to visit with them. There's just something about little innocent kids that melts hearts.

Venice and Trina, did you get all your seeds done? I don't envy you!

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

I know what you mean, Cat. My mom is 82, not in the greatest of health, and she loves little kids. When we see them in a store she talks to them (with parental approval) and I know she would love to give/receive big hugs.

Glenview, IL

Good Morning all,

Wow, Jim, your story has brought me to tears.
What a beautiful memory that will remain for a long time.

Wish i could stay and chat but Ihave got to get in gear, leaving for the weekend and a ton to get done.

So just wanted to stop in and Wish you all a wonderful weekend.

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

Just wanted to let you know - my good deed for the day. Our local radio station is still doing the make-a-wish radiothon, I asked them to play "Caravan" by Van Morrison in honor of The Gypsy Rock Band. (you can do that for a donation).

Thanks Moon for the suggestion, couldn't bring myself to ask for Cher.

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

Moon, they just played "The Long & Winding Road". Right after I posted above. Synchronicity. Happy/Sad.

Good Morning All...a child's arms hold pure joy. Unfortunately, we sometimes have to be close to the end of our lives before we recognize it as such....one of the best programs I ever worked with was when I was volunteering at a nursing home and we set up regular visits between the local children's home and the nursing home. Never have I seen so many affection starved people connect on such a visceral level. Patients that we had to fight to get them up and out of bed, would be dressed and waiting on Kids Day. The children would arrive about 9:30AM and would stay until 2 or 3PM. They came every other Saturday during the school year and twice a week during the summer. Once a month there would be a separate Baby Day.....never have babies been so loved and rocked and fussed over as when they came to the nursing home....our only problem was we had way more Grannies and Grandpas than babies....they started bringing the toddlers on Baby day also.
When an outing was planned for our ambulatory patients, they always wanted to go to the children's home.....sadly, the Nursing Home director retired and the new director just didn't see the benefits....said the children were endangering the health of the elderly....used the "germ factory" argument and the program was closed. The nursing home experienced its' highest number of deaths in the 6 months after the program closed......

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

that's so sad. too bad people sometimes can't see beyond the tangible..

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

SmileyJ, I would have given ya Into the Mystic too....grin cuz when that fog horn whistle blows, ya know I'm coming home, and I want to rock your Gypsy soul....just like way back in the days of old..... sorry, it is a heartsong.....grin

Good segue....we are spirits in the material

Seed, have a great trip, be safe and you can tell us all about it....take pictures....gypsies love to travel...grin

Jim, great news from the Doc.....kids have a way of triggering the deepest emotions...joy and sorrow, but if your heart is open, mostly joy.

Good morning everyone.

Seed's have a great trip and like Jean say's...take us some picture's;-)

Smileymom, happy Friday to you too.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Good Morning Rachel. How is life in Rural Retreat? Hope all is well with you. You are gonna have to show us a pic of your ponies.....haven't ridden in ages, but used to love Saturday rides with friends.

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

Good morning all. Heading out to take Gidjet (old bassette) for a nail trim. Just wanted to say Hi. Jim that was a heart warming story for sure. We use to go from chorus at school to nursing homes and those folks loved it. We also went from dance. I wish schools would get back into it because it is good for patients as well as students. Seed enjoy your trip,Kassy get to work lol and Moon go pull some weeds. Smileymom good to see your up and at em. Trina and Venice don't envy the seed packing at all, but look at the people that are gonna be pleased by your efforts. Rachell hope you are well and hope everyone has a great weekend. I'll probably get grands so you won't here from me for a few lol.

Good morning Flower's and wishing you a great weekend as well.

Beautiful horse Rachael, I have two that I see daily on the property next to mine. The neighbors let my grandkids ride them on occasion. Have a great weekend and will see ya in a few days.

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

Nice picture Rachel! The only horses I get to see are the ones in the playgrounds with the springs on their bellies.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

What a pretty baby, Rachel. And such a lovely setting for them. There is something so free about riding. Good for the body and the soul. Rachel, sorry you are getting rained in, but I am so glad someone else is sharing in the cloud fall....I am with Jim, we have had enough rain for a few days....beginning to be a problem for the farmers...crops to get in before they rot....

Hope everyone has a lovely Friday....a perfect lead in to a great weekend. For those with rain, maybe we'll get some inside projects done....lol.

Marinette, WI(Zone 4b)

Pretty horse Rachel ^_^

Wheeeewh, glad I didn't have a lot of reading to do to catch up this time.

Jean, and we get away from the cher thing? That's what my BF (for the present time) and his daughter call me..................LOL

And no, I have not left yet. I'm in a major stall on going there this weekend!

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Kassy, when i use the word cher....it is not in reference to the singer....it is Cajun French for Dear...as in Cher Te Bebe....Dear little baby...and it is pronounced SHA as in Shaq....grin Sorry to cause you grief....grin

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

Good so I was reading it right the when you used it Moon

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

Moon I have a seed collecting question.....on my datura and my oleander, can I put paper lunch bags over the seed heads? Cuz if not when these things break its gonna look like its snowing in here

Marinette, WI(Zone 4b)

No grief Jean, just was way confusing at first..............................
Stop that, old people get confused easily ;-).......LOL

Running on lack of sleep here!

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Trina, I think that the need as much air circulation as possible. I think that's why they recommend the organza bags. You can get them at craft stores and may not cost that much. How many would you need?

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Yes ma'am, you surely can. Frees you from having to watch them.

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

good there's 6 big ones on the datura and probably 2 dozen on the oleander

Delhi, LA

Hi all. One rain shower after the other. Manage to get a few things done between showers but finally gave up. First day I could be at home all day in 2 weeks and rain, rain, rain. Tomorrow it mow, rain or shine, or spay the whole yard with round up.
