Trina, meant to tell you. Your flowers are looking so nice! It would be nice to see more of your flowers close up. Maybe when you take a break from all that paperwork. I sure don't envy you doing all of it, even for clothes!

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

That would be nice! That variety is really cool. Sorry but I probably won't get your seeds out that soon.

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Trina, now what are those "other ideas"? Do they have something to do with . . . .
PLANTS!!!

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Seed packet question!

On those DG packets, there is space for Seed Types and DG's ID. What do they mean?

Glenview, IL

Oh my what a lovely garden Trina!
The henna colius is a splendid bush!

You know, I collected all of one seed from lil colius. LOL, I am such a big harvester!

Seed Type is the name of the plant. Most GD'ers like the proper name of the plant but I normally put the name everyone knows it by too.
DG ID is your id in here. (Like mine is cat64129)

You gals are all just so busy. I don't have any seeds this year to gather. Just moved into this place this past spring. Just wait until next year though! :-)

Keaau, HI

That photo is the middle page to the Beatles Magical Mystery Tour album.

BTO, ELO, & Bob Seger are good music.

Are you familiar with the Traveling Wilbury's? Jeff Lynne of ELO teamed up with George Harrison, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, and Roy Orbison to make a couple albums.

Jeff Lynne is quite the accomplished musician. He has done a lot of work with former Beatles. He was phenomenal along with Eric Clapton on the "Concert for George" (George Harrison's memorial concert) he even kept right up with Ravi Shankar playing classical Indian music.

Your daughter is learning to have good taste in music; tell her thanks for the gremlin!

(Cathy), MO

Love the Wilburys! I had to get the cd when it came out.

Keaau, HI

Hey Cat, have you ever seen Wilbury's Volume Three? It was made after Roy Orbison passed on.

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Trina, tell your daugher that is a really cool gremlin!

About the seed packets! It has a place for Seed Name and Seed Type. So what is the difference?

(Cathy), MO

Hi Dave. Yes I have both V. 1 and V. 3. Gotta admit though I liked them better with Roy. He's always been a favorite of mine. Then again, George aged well! :-)

Venice, I always just labeled them like seed type = aster, and seed name = purple dome. Etc etc. Don't know if I was right but that's what I've done.

Keaau, HI

I'm off to work folks. Have a good day!

Aloha, Dave

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Cat, thanks a lot. I don't know if you are doing the seed packets. But it looks like it would take a long time to cut, paste, and label them.

Trina, if you are going to do these for all your marigolds, I bet it would take you a month to get them all done!!

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

and Yes Dave I know a LOT more about music than most people my age would know...worked at EMI for 12 years and sundays were baking days at my house..put the oldies on and bake up a storm with mom

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

and yeah I'm doing them for the marigolds and your right its going to take forever!

(Cathy), MO

I used them a couple years back venice, but ended up going to Walmarts and getting those little ziplock plastic envies in the craft section. MUCH easier and they come in different sizes.

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

my seeds are still moist cat or I'd do that...but we have the Spoon River Drive coming up so I'm gonna put them out with MIL stuff and unload a bunch of them

(Cathy), MO

I don't blame you. It's always a big relief when seed gathering and bagging is done for the year! :-)

I'm heading home now. Have a super night everyone

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

Bye cat

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

Seedtosser JJ stands for Julian James, he's 9 and no I'm just grandma but his dad works nights so he stays here during the week , goes home on weekends and every other weekend to his moms. He's not here much during the summer.

Hi to everyone, would love to stay and chat but sounds like more playing than homework going on.

Want everyone to meet my DH after he told me to get off the computer.

no no we are doing homework....see long term research on the benefits of gardening

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

JJ, are you sure you are giving your husband enough to eat!!!! lol

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

venice i wish you lived closer then we could sit here and chat while you help me cut these things out!

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Trina, I am doing these marigold seeds now! I have been doing them all afternoon but I am only 1/3 done. I have seeds, dried petals, and all kinds of stuff from those dried seeds all over my desk, the floor, and down my front!!!! I want to get these done so I can sweep everything. Mine are such a mess because I picked the flowers so early before they were completely dead. I have one cookie sheet full of just seeds and I will dry them out again for a while. I want to make sure they are really dry. Someone over on one of the seed threads was saying that they had moldy seeds!

When is your Spoon River Drive? If you are just doing your packets now, why don't you spread out your seeds on a cookie sheet so they can dry more. I know you will be doing packets, packets, packets for a while, a long while!!! I know, don't tell me, every surface has plants on them. How about pulling out your oven racks and putting cookie trays on them? Just an idea.

Really I would love to come up with a quicker way of doing those packets. Like, if they didn't have the curves, they would be quicker to do. Is there a way that we can do any changes on those computer sheets?

There was someone that was going to show one of us how to use, was it the draw function? on Windows. I don't remember who that was.

Moon, was that you?

I gotta get back to these darn seeds!

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

5 teenagers and 2 dogs...if I left seeds out I'd find maricolds, zinnias and dianthus growing in the carpet by christmas.....why do we do this to ourselves? we know it's gonna be messy, time consuming, and to be quite honest the marigolds stink up the house! But here we are again another fall and messing with seeds again!

I gotta get some paper bags though or I'm also going to end up with datura and oleander seeds everyplace....

What color are your marigolds?

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

oh lord where's my camera when i need it...puppy was scratching at my leg and I looked down and she drug my naptime blankie in here and wants me to hold her....she's so cute!

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Ordinary yellow! Yours? It would be a better idea to put them in a grocery bag than keep them in ziploc.

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

LOL

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

big puffy yellow with dark orange in them....and I would if I had a large paper bag, all hubby brings home is plastic

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

woohoo 30 little packets done only need to do that about 30 more times! LOL

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

I wish you had a photo of your marigolds, datura, and oleander flowers.

Your little puppy is so sweet!

How long did it take to do 30 packets? Does that mean cutting, pasting, labeling? Or just cutting?
