I love Kitty! But she is rather wild. When someone moved from an apartment here, they just left her outside. So she was totally on her own for about 2 years. Even before that, they kept her outside. So she isn't like a normal kitty. She only wants to be petted when she lays between me and my keyboard. Even then she only wants to be stroked and scratched around her ears for a few minutes. Then she will turn her head and like try to nip me, that means she is done or she will bite me. She can't be in my bedroom at night because she will bite my toes, I mean bite! When I go into my bedroom for the night, she will bite me and draw blood. So I throw some Greenies down the hall so she is distracted and I can go to bed peacefully.

I didn't chose her as a pet. Just one day the kids were playing with her in the common hall and she just ran into my apartment. My Mamma Kitty died about 7 years before but I couldn't find one I liked at the Humane Society. So when she ran in I kept her for a couple of days. I knew she wanted outside, so I let her out. I figured if she wanted to live somewhere else that would be ok. But she came back in about 2-3 hours. So she has lived here for 3 years now. And her name is Kitty! She will be outside for a couple of hours in the morning and then 5-6 hours in the evening but she comes back about 10:30. Or I find her laying on the patio then. So that is the story of Kitty! She had a rough life growing up.

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

at least you take care of her Venice, that is what's important!

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Actually, she really is not a she. She is a he! But I only wanted a girl kitty so I call her a she. My vet said other people do that also since they are neutered. The top of her is gray and it is really obvious that she is a he by her two little gray powder puffs in back!

Hi everyone. Rachel thanks. I just might do that...grin

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

lol Moon you ever see the two critic puppets on the muppet show?

That's what they are doing, arguing over which is spicier the sun dried tomatoes or the basil....as if either one of them can actually taste it since they both drowned it in barbecue sauce

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

hey dumb question those really big buildings you find arboretum? no that's for birds. uhg its not a greenhouse...they are big fancy things full of plants...you pay admission like the zoo but your going to see plants...uhg I'm loosing it what are they called...each little area is perfectly climate controlled for what's growing in them....argh...huge things take a whole day to walk through and you still wouldn't see everything

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

I can show you a couple or three of my orchids that are blooming, Rachel

stop it Moon your just making me want more plants...I use to have orchids, but they became victims

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

A conservatory at the botanical garden? An arboretum is for Trees, an aviary is for birds. A conservatory is a glasshouse for plants. Unless you are thinking of an atrium.

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Now what would we do without moon!!

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

The spicy is the BBQ sauce....duh

Here is a prettyhibiscus called Heartbreak Hotel

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Too cool, Karen. I love my vitex....the blooms are such a pretty shade of blue. What kind of mums did you get?

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

It looks similar to a butterfly bush but gets about 20 feet tall before its all said and done. Now just trying to find the perfect spot in the yard. The hummingbirds and bees love it.

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

I can honestly say Moon, I will never ask for your daylilies

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

Heck if I know just yellow and maroon ones lol Love the lillys is that in your yard? No don't tell me I'll cry.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Not a favorite, eh Trina?

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Karen, You want some of those day-lilies? I would be happy to share.

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

nope not a favorite, my neighbor has some and they keep rooting under our fence and pushing my roses and glads out of the ground

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

I have an island coming down drive that I have ornamental grasses, asiatic lillys and an assortment of other plants. I dug up a hydrangea that wasn't happy there and need to fill in the space. My focal points are switch grass in center with a butterfly bush on one side and need to put something with a little height that will take a lot of sun on the other side any suggestions?

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Blame the neighbor Trina, not the plant's fault. (a ginger)

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Yes, now that is a tiger lily! But if you want to part with a dragon, I would love to have one!

Talk about butterfly bushes. Mine still hasn't done anything. A few of its leaves are a little yellow. And no, I haven't been watering it. The way it looks now, I don't think it will make it through the winter.

My coneflower looked really skimpy this year. It didn't do good over the winter. I have seeds so I can plant some.

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

Too Pretty!!!

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

Venice, I cut mine back to about 6 inches above ground it will come back in the spring.
