Best/Worse/What did I learn today..visit with friends #120

Lyndonville, NY

Good afternoon,

I am one exhausted mom. My DS is so sick. Don't know if it is food poisoning from burger joint...or a gastro virus. DH, DS & myself up all night. He is 16 and can normally handle all this himself. No chance last night. He is finally sleeping now.

The situation at college is holding its own right now. Miss negativity is really fighting this and has so many excuses. Her safety issues have been ...for me at least...taken care of. Possibly a part time job on campus for her also.

Friday night, Shannon & I are going to the Toby Keith & Trace Atkins concert. Very excited.

I have a friend coming for a couple days, so probably wont' be on here much.

Just know I am thinking of all of you, and sending prayers where needed.

Debbie

Nilwood, IL(Zone 5b)

Oh and have a blast with your friends and Concert!!

Yikes, Susan, glad your hips is better. geeze I sure know that feeling, my fingers cripple up alot lately. I am so glad you got to take 2 jacuzes, and get a good night sleep...

Mary, Wow, was real glad to hear you were able to pass on the Booster club thing, know it was tough, but hey at least you are still involved and I quite sure a wonderful mentor for the new person. ...Plus I am always glad you are doing so well at the job front.
Oh you asked about Sr. year...Well I can only Sr. Prom is a blast to look forward to, also...awards and recognitions were quite exhilerating.
Of courseSr. Photos and well...just watching and crying(happy tears) your baby is finished and moving up, LOL, think I was in tears almost the whole year, remenicing her first times at things...OMG, better before I tear up again, lol. Just you enjoy it all, seems to fly by.

Well Hello Wonderhug, Aww Linda Kay, you are a Sweetheart, thank you...Hope you get chance to chat more often Laura, sounds like you doing very well, and for this i am very happy for you.

Laura, wow, Best of luck on the Deli job!! I am glad to see you too, been quite a long time. I'sure you have been busy though with the move and other things. One thing at a time right?

Bev, My gosh, you have been very busy too. Wow, Great for you on the no smoking!!! Was glad to see too you got someone to remove that humungous hornets nest, were they successful? Also, Geeze I didn't know you had a cocketiel, So pretty! Whats his/her name, loved the picture of Powder playing peekaboo, too cute.

Barb, Oh Thank you for your help with my sewing machine. Got it back up and running, wooopie! Oh I am so glad you get to see your DGS soccor games. He sounds adorable, hope you'll share some pictures.

Trisha, Hope the meeting goes well. Lets see, you were going to start a water color? Sorry, I forgot...but if you are well then that pretty cool.

Geesh, who am I missing??

Dear Sweet Betty, Hope you are having a wonderful day...And I do hope you will Enjoy the long weekend, in your gardens, surround by family...Missing you here, but of course understand.

Lizrainey!! Man, it is always great to chat with you too, LOL I am starting to feel like my MIL, always calling at dinner time! for me though, I always think if I wait you will have gone to bed! So thanks for allowing me to vent once again! Geesh that kid of mine, lol

That was my worst yesterday, Allowing jacob to ride his bike, for the first time to school..He didn't not come home until almost 8 and then went to his friends house, who I happened to be on the phone with the mom to see if here was there...Worried sick, ready to chase down all sirened vehicles...Sigh needless to say, i don't think that will happen again, lol at least not too soon.

No worst for today...yay.

Best, OMG, I must be nuts, Took Breenie for a practice ride in the neighborhood, turns, parking stopping abrublty...She did very well and only accused me of "yelling" maybe 3 times...yay practice was done, Yep and then it was miller time!
Another Best, Whew, cleaned my house top to bottom, Everyone noticed and even better...Next couple days I can play outside!

Learned...Takes 6 hours to clean house top to bottom...LOL, no wonder it was such a huge mess when I was working.

OH, Yep, knew I was missing someone, Shar if your reading, waving hello, hope you are well. Still enjoying the story.

OK, So Skittles, Liz, is doing real well...so cute, she is learning to hold fruit in her claw and eat..quite comicle to watch her try to balance and eat..Plus she is learning to be "alone" for several hours...Thank you for asking.

Steve has been outrageously busy, Got to shake my head at his help though, personally I dig them all, but they sure can be aggrivating.
OH MY..Steve bought us both HD Leathers!!! Mine is just my style too, but had to exchange for a large one, medium fit just slightly too snug...so got to wait for a week, Anyway his is awsom too, my how handsome he was riding up in it...ROFLOL, of course, was thinking right away ok where's mine, sweetie that he is, said and here yours! He is just such a love.

Kids are doing great! Although we are all trying to get an organized schedual going.
Sooo, that what been happening on this side of the garden.

Thanks for reading my novel!
Enjoy the evening everyone, see you on the morrow.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Judy! I'm so glad you're back, and what a busy busy lady you are! Wow!! Glad to hear you are doing great!

Tubby you know I'll be here waiting for the news, got everything crossed that will crossed.

Well let's see,

Best of Today: got another speaker booked for my conference, that completes that and Jeff helped me with the agenda like he always has to do.

Worst: Other than the speaker didn't get much else done, just too tired to focus on numbers. Also put Advantage on Tiga this morning and I just hate seeing her all yucky having that stuff on her back.

Learn: Ms. Cheerful Does know she's different LOL

Baton Rouge, LA

Hello To All;
Judy - nice to read your long post...It's SO hard teaching kids to drive! DS & I took our first "Test Drive" today.... He's a pretty good driver now...but I'm thinking of buying him a "Beginner car" and was so worried he would crash the vehicle on the test drive...LOL
What are HD LEathers (I'm guessing Harley Davidson ....something...)

Laura - my prayers to you ...I just know you'll get this job... and it sounds like a good one...

Laura (wonderhug)....Please send puppy pics. And so glad you can stay with us !

LK - THANK you - for such a generous gift! That is awesome...

Debbie - Completely understand the "negativity" issue...been dealing with that around here. Have my own "Trace Adkins" Story.... Back 15 years (in country radio days)ago he came by the radio station I worked for. He asked my co-worker if he could invite me to lunch with them.. Co-worker told me later...he didn't invite me since Trace was rather a "womanizer". When he comes on TV now...I joke in front of DH about my "Boyfriend". LOL

I suppose everyone has a "Brush with Fame" story.

Liz - Mom had given me Opey (Lhasa Apso Stray) ....then when she passed away in '04....I inherited her other 7 'strays' to find homes for.....I ended up with just Opey (who died in May 07) and Indy....who we put down last March 12th....so we have been "dog-less" for a few months.....so maybe it's about time...

BEV - CONGRATS TO YOU!!! SUPER!

Betty - Thank you for posting...I know you are such a Rock of Strength for folks....It can probably be overwhelming at times...but we love you and miss you....

(((HUGS)))) to all,

Mary

Ames, NE(Zone 5b)

Debbie hope DS is getting well..T&P
Laura good luck .!!!!!!!!
T&P to all in need..

Some Crazy Conspiracy in Our Time

THIS IS HAPPENING RIGHT HERE IN OUR OWN COUNTRY!
We Must Stop This Immediately!
Have you noticed that stairs are getting steeper . Groceries are heavier .
And, everything is farther away. Yesterday I walked to the corner and I
was dumbfounded to discover how long our street had become!

And, you know, people are less considerate now, especially the young ones.
They speak in whispers all the time! If you ask them to speak up they
just keep repeating themselves, endlessly mouthing the same silent message
until they're red in the face! What do they think I am, a lip reader?

I also think they are much younger than I was at the same age.
On the other hand, people my own age are so much older than I am.
I ran into an old friend the other day and she has aged so much that
she didn't even recognizeme.

I got to thinking about the poor dear while I was combing my hair this
morning, and in doing so, I glanced at my own reflection.
Well, REALLY NOW - even mirrors are not made the way they used to be!

Another thing, everyone drives so fast these days!
You're risking life and limb if you happen to pull onto the freeway in front of them.
All I can say is, their brakes must wear out awfully fast, the way I see them
screech and swerve in my rear view mirror.

Clothing manufacturers are less civilized these days.
Why else would they suddenly start labeling a size 10 or 12 dress as 18 or 20?
Do they think no one notices?
The people who make bathroom scales are pulling the same prank.
Do they think I actually "believe" the number I see on that dial?
HA! I would never let myself weigh that much!
Just who do these people think they're fooling?

I'd like to call up someone in authority to report what's going on --
but the telephone company is in on the conspiracy too: they've printed
the phone books in such small type that no one could ever find a number in there!
All I can do is pass along this warning:
WE ARE UNDER ATTACK!
Unless something drastic happens, pretty soon everyone will have to
suffer these awful indignities.

Nite All

Not the best of my day...

BIL Lenny is waiting for results of his operation and hoping lumps are not malignant..Suzanne injured her back and can barely move, I've been helping her out even to putting her shoes on..lol - Sharon is on standby for her back operation, Vera is NOT coping at all with the suicide of her son, Mike (Ann's husband) had pre-op yesterday and operation Tuesday, hoping he doesn't lose his arm..cancer sure is a terrible thing and hits so many family..tragic...Darlene is having difficulties with her eyesight and is seeing specialist next week, tear in the eyeballl, took mom out on Sunday for the day, she's getting extremely frail, had to rest in the vehicle from time to time, kept drooling on right side of her mouth...so as you can see major issues

Best..

All the boys are doing great..hockey season starts already...
Today they are getting together at Canada's Wonderland for a day of fun..
I'm still active..painting, gardening...mom spoilt me with more plants on Sunday..white lace vine, red phlox, royal blue phlox, mums..include that with the car full of rose bushes and you know I'm out making more gardens..

What did I learn...swaps are addictive, Crissy has me in a halloween swap, let's just say my pal will be thrilled...

Good thoughts for all of you today!

Fall is here in my gardens..

Betty my goodness girl, thoughts and prayers going to your family and friends. Hope those tests come out clean, and needed operations get scheduled, and Suzanne gets her back fixed. Do they have chiropractors up there? I'm assuming they do... And your mom too, that's scary that she's drooling down the side of her mouth, has she been back to the dr?

I'm glad the boys are doing great, soccer has started down here already too. Gotta get those soccer and hockey moms out and about! It's been cool here, fall is definitely in the air and it's about 2 months early for us.

What's the worst? I'm not able to stay home and work on my Signature Block swap quilt pieces.

What did I learn? That I'm allowed mistakes at work without the world falling down around me.

Ug Bev, several WEEKS??? That's horrible!

LOL Susan, thank you! Yes, anyone want to speak up on mine and Susan's behalf? LOL

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Ok, apparently someone is setting stink bombs off in the building, has all 18 floors smelling like dog poo, making for a great office conversation piece!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

ewwwwwwwwwww Crissy - and they were blaming your cough medicine? tsk tsk tsk!

Ok - who's admiring Crissy & I??? LOL (talk about fishing for compliments, eh?)

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

LOL Susan, they weren't blaming me at all, they were blaming on the person who has the gas (we have one who has gas issues, or so she says)

Keep fishing girl, I don't think anyone is here right at the moment, wait about an hour...

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

LOL ok, crissy!

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Good afternoon all, a quick check in....

Keeping all of you in our thoughts and prayers....

Great news Liz !!

A small weather front coming in, has me aching and the dog pacing and whining.... Looks like a great afternoon for Aleve and a spot of house cleaning....

Eeewwww Crissy.....wish we were closer I have a Respirator I could loan you for the day !!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

LOL Trisha!! We're supposed to be getting a cold front coming through tomorrow, Saturday, and Sunday. I was hoping for weather like we've been having, but hay, if it rains I won't have to water!

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

I have a little book that belonged to my Great Aunt from the early1920's called the Book of Good Cheer.....it is a collection of poems and verses collected by Edwin Osgood Grover (you can google that and download the book) .... One of the poems I like is by James Whitcomb Riley...

It is no use to grumble and complain:
It's just as cheap and easy to rejoice.
When God sorts out the weather and sends rain---
Why, rain's my choice.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

That's great, Trisha!
hmmmmmmm I must be as "old as dirt" cuz I remember the name.......... No, not old enuff to Have the book, but old enuff to have older relatives that did. (I'm the youngest of a family of 5, and we're my Dad's 2nd family........so I was raised in an older household, with older relatives - my Dad was the youngest too, and my Mom was 17 years younger than him lol)

~Susan~

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Been talking about my out of practice paintings......don't have anything current that I am will to have seen right now, but was cleaning the office and came across a file of watercolors in various stages of completion from several years ago.....guess I need to practice for awhile and see if I can finish these up......have some work ahead of me.....
