Wishing everyone a good afternoon.......yes Judy I have started to play with the paints a bit...I am quite rusty....this is the start of one canvas...not done yet...

Trisha - how very interesting that they're both Hibiscus (mirror image and different colours)!
It's beautiful. I concure with LK - is it for sale? Do you sell your paintings?

~Susan~

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Had never though of selling them...I guess anything is possible.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Girl you could make money, they're definitely good enough, and if they're good enough from a picture, I bet they're dynamic in person.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

They're beautiful, and not mass-produced, so they're one-of-a-kind!
People like having unique handmade items in their homes......

(Laura) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Betty being gone is sad, she added so much to our conversations. We miss you Betty and hope you’re ok and will return soon.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Laura, I agree that there is a big void here, and all I can think about is if herself and her family are alright. She'll be back, I know it!

Well my day was alright, except for constant coughing all day long, now I know is caused by the air conditioning because since I've gotten out of that building I haven't coughed hardly at all.

Well, the bug guy came and baited everything, Dave even pulled the dishwasher out and he baited that too! I've found two babies dead on the floor next to the dishwasher, I bet they're inside it going after water. I have all the lights out in there so when I turn them on we'll see if any are on the counter again. I ended up with Popeye's for dinner.

WHOO HOO!!!!!

Glenview, IL

Good Evening,

Wanted to say Thank You Barb.

Now Wow, I know you quilted , LOL, so will be nice to see what you have been quilting! 5 quilts, holy smackers I only made one...I like to think it came out beautiful and my friend Deborah, really loved it. So I do hope you will share the finished product with us!
Am sure, as well, Your grandchildren will cherish them forever!...Being a new "quilter" I know lots of work just in the cutting, so glad you took a lil break.

Crissy, Thank you for Starting the new Thread! Wasn't quite sure when to do that, lol...

OMG, Trisha, your painting is beautiful! Well, for a bit being rusty you are doing very nicely, thanks for sharing.

Thank you to Jaye, Linda Kaye for posting your prayers for Betty, I know she would be appreciatie as well.

Good Heavens Bev!!! That is some hive. Oh My but isn't it kind of pretty too? You two be very careful, as I'm sure you are.
UM, Not sure what getting your veins checked means...Are you still getting dizzy? I hope that goes well.

Well, my day was spent running again...but i was also down for a bit, had a crazy pain in my hip that just didn't want to go away.

Linda Kay, so Glad Andy is well on the mend, Yep Angels definatley watching over him...Bet he'll be glad to get back to work!
And how are you? Will your therapy get back underway?
Oh Dear Sistah, I was so sorry to hear of your Brother and Sister, my gosh, Prayers Continue for your family...Big Hugs to you
(((((((((((((((((LK & Family)))))))))))))))))))))

Liz, LOL, the girls will love them, Skittles, lil brat is doing fine. She escaped into the yard you know, scared us all to death. So her Screen house freedom is sort of highly watched, lol...Well she is learning the Shoulder landing again, We have taught her not to go to mirror(it's old with lead paint-probably) and we are working on her playing on her gym...Also, She is getting into a routine of the Day, being alone for a period of time, not so easy but working on it....LOL Not to mention her, uhmmm, pet mouse who was robbing her under tray!! Well, he was a cute little mouse!

OH Bev, remember when Betty had a couple of those built? I think she put one of those Chinese lanterns there and then the bees hornets stayed away! So maybe you might try that once you get that taken away and burned...I believe she said they have some kind of memory, but they also are territorial.

Best, Jacob starts School tomorrow! Freshman orientation, Thursday everyone starts...Woohoo, I regain some sort of routine!

Worst, Can't think of much, Hot and humid?

Learned, Geesh, got to learn to stay Stress free on other Jacobs schedual
I hope you all have a good night.

See you tomorrow.

Baton Rouge, LA

Hello To All;

Waving "Hi " to Judy, LK, Crissy, Liz.....Everyone .....

Crissy & Trisha - Nice Hibiscus! Trisha - you ARE such an artist!

We've been crazy busy. There was a big Fundraising Fair at the school Saturday...Sunday was Lance & My "official" bday party at MIL's.... (Since he went fishing the weekend before)

I've been working late. Sorry I haven't been posting as much...I am totally wiped out and tired.

Thank you to all who have checked in on me...I have read every post...

Gosh- ya'll ...the job is still going SO great...I had a bad day yesterday...just (again) hard on myself when I thought I had really bad news (working on a deal that was going south)...but today things were looking better with that...so why did I let it get me down so quickly? Probably because everything else is working out so well.... I really want my new boss to be proud of me.....

I am sad about Betty...I feel she is the glue that holds us together. Whenever I feel that I have selfishly written more about myself than others...I always see her comment on everyone and it reminds me to be sure to try to address as many folks as possible...she is a True born leader....and I look up to her...

But if she needs a hiatus...so be it....she would want the "Show to go on" so "go on it must".

Best - good day at work...Clients getting GOOD results...which makes me happy...
Worst - hearing about Betty
Learned - don't get in a funk over "supposed" bad news...things may actually work out....so that was some wasted negative energy... :)

(((Hugs)))
Mary

PS: Deb/Judy - is it really too much to ask TEENAGERS to put their dishes in the dishwasher ????????? I'm driving myself crazy.... :)

Ames, NE(Zone 5b)

Hi All had to go get tank filled again 2 more bags of blood..LOL
I guess I'm not making enough red cells..

Thinking of you all..Wishing for the best..Praying for all..

I love this

This is AWESOME....something we should all remember.

A 92-year-old, petite, well-poised and proud man, who is fully dressed each morning by eight o'clock, with his20hair fashionably combed and shaved perfectly, even though he is legally blind, moved to a nursing home today. His wife of 70 years recently passed away, making the move necessary.

After many hours of waiting patiently in the lobby of the nursing home, he smiled sweetly when told his room was ready. As he maneuvered his walker to the elevator, I provided a visual description of his tiny room, including the eyelet sheets that had been hung on his window.

"I love it," he stated with the enthusiasm of an eight-year-old having just been presented with a new puppy. Mr. Jones, you haven't seen the room; just wait.'

'That doesn't have anything to do with it,' he replied.
Happiness is something you decide on ahead of time..

Whether I like my room or not doesn't depend on how the furniture is arranged... it's how I arrange my mind.

I already decided to love it.. ' It's a decision I make every morning when I wake up.

I have a choice; I can spend the day in bed recounting the difficulty I have with the parts of my body that no longer work, or get out of bed and be thankful for the ones that do.

Each day is a gift, and as long as my eyes open, I'll focus on the new day and all the happy memories I've stored away. Just for this time in my life.

Old age is like a bank account. You withdraw from what you've put in.

So, my advice to you would be to deposit a lot of happiness in the bank account of memories!

'Remember the five simple rules to be happy:
1. Free your heart from hatred.
2. Free your mind from worries.
3. Live simply.
4. Give more.
5. Expect less.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

"Susan - how far are you from Betty?" 1/2 a country away, actually.........
figure between Montana, and New York State/Michigan.....cuz Alberta is above Montana, and Ontario is right above New York/Michigan....

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Hi Mary and Judy! I'm just signing off myself.

Judy I was wondering that myself, then it was taking a long time to load the thread at work on super high speed internet, so I just went ahead and did it.

Mary thank you! I've had a bad day with coughing, just keep coughing and coughing and coughing, taken 4 different kinds of medicine now, 10 cough drops in a row, to no avail, none of this medicine helps one solitary bit! Cold medicine, Cough medicine, Allergy medicine, Nothing Works!

I've been at my job for a little over 2 years, and you need to learn what I had to learn to do, simply calm down! LOL Dave used to tell me that about my job all the time, "Christine just calm down, your boss likes you, quit worrying about it!" and he was right... When you're good, you're good, you know?! LOL

I miss Betty horribly, she's definitely the glue here. We just need to keep praying for her.

Best of Today - I don't know, been coughing so much I couldn't tell
Worst of Today - Missing Betty horribly, and this stupid cough.
Learn? - can I add an "ing"? Learning - Patients is a Virtue

You'll need Kleenex

This is a true story and it will give you the chills.

>This is a beautiful and touching story of love and perseverance. Well worth the read.

>At the prodding of my friends I am writing this story..

My name is Mildred Honor and I am a former elementary school music teacher from Des Moines, Iowa. I have always supplemented my income by teaching piano lessons - something
I have done for over 30 years.During those years I found that children have many levels of musical ability, and even though I have never had the pleasure of having a prodigy, I have
taught some very talented students. However, I have also had my share of what I call 'musically
challenged' pupils - one such pupil being Robby.

> Robby was 11 years old when his mother (a single mom) dropped him off for his first piano
lesson. I prefer that students (especially boys) begin at an earlier age, which I explained to
Robby. But Robby said that it had always been his mother's dream to hear him play the piano, so I took him as a student. Well, Robby began his piano lessons and from the beginning I thought it was a hopeless endeavour. As much as Robby tried, he lacked the sense of tone and basic rhythm needed to excel. But he dutifully reviewed his scales and some elementary piano pieces that I require all my students to learn. Over the months he tried and tried while I listened and cringed and tried to encourage him. At the end of each weekly lesson he would always say 'My mom's going to hear me play someday'. But to me, it seemed hopeless, he just did not have any inborn ability.

>I only knew his mother from a distance as she dropped Robby off or waited in her aged car to pick him up. She always waved and smiled, but never dropped in. Then one day Robby stopped coming for his lessons. I thought about calling him, but assumed that because of his lack of ability he had decided to pursue something else. I was also glad that he had stopped coming - he was a bad advertisement for my teaching!

> Several weeks later I mailed a flyer recital to the students' homes. To my surprise, Robby (who had received a flyer) asked me if he could be in the recital. I told him that the recital was
for current pupils and that because he had dropped out, he really did not qualify. He told me that his mother had been sick and unable to take him to his piano lessons, but that he had been practicing. 'Please Miss Honor, I 've just got to play' he insisted. I don't know what led me to allow him to play in the recital - perhaps it was his insistence or maybe something inside of me
saying that it would be all right.

> The night of the recital came and the high school gymnasium was packed with parents, relatives and friends. I put Robby last in the program, just before I was to come up and thank all the students and play a finishing piece. I thought that any damage he might do would come
at the end of the program and I could always salvage his poor performance through my 'curtain
closer'. Well, the recital went off without a hitch, the students had been practicing and it showed.

Then Robby came up on the stage. His clothes were wrinkled and his hair looked as though he had run an egg beater through it. 'Why wasn't he dressed up like the other students?' I thought. 'Why didn't his mother at least make him comb his hair for this special night?'

> Robby pulled out the piano bench, and I was surprised when he announced that he had chosen to play Mozart's Concerto No. 21 in C Major. I was not prepared for what I heard next. His fingers were light on the keys, they even danced nimbly on the ivories. He went from pianissimo to fortissimo, from allegro to virtuoso; his suspended chords that Mozart demands were magnificent! Never had I heard Mozart played so well by anyone his age. After six and a half minutes he ended in a grand crescendo, and everyone was on their feet in wild applause! Overcome and in tears, I ran up on stage and put my arms around Robby in joy.

I have never heard you play like that Robby, how did you do it?'

> Through the microphone, Robby explained: 'Well, Miss Honor .... remember I told you that my mom was sick? Well, she actually had cancer and passed away this morning. And well .....she was born deaf, so tonight was the first time she had ever heard me play, and I wanted to make it special.' There wasn't a dry eye in the house that evening.
As the people from Social Services led Robby from the stage to be placed into foster care, I noticed that even their eyes were red and puffy. I thought to myself then how much richer my life had been for taking Robby as my pupil.

>No, I have never had a prodigy, but that night I became a prodigy..... of Robby.
>He was the teacher and I was the pupil, for he had taught me the meaning of perseverance and love and believing in yourself, and maybe even taking a chance on someone and you didn't know why.

Robby was killed yearslater in the senseless bombing of the Alfred P. Murray Federal Building in Oklahoma City in April, 1995.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Judy - I've only posted one pic of my quilts. The others were samples of what I may do in the Signature Block swap.....
The one that's mine is the last one - a Lone Star, about 40" across, that I haven't bordered. It's in shades of rose, burgundy, yellow and a dark print, with cream coloured accent on the outsides....
I really Must finish it.
btw - I quilt so seldom (although I have a feeling it will change, with DG in my life now LOL), that I feel like a beginning quilter!! When I am sending quilt blocks to others, I feel like I have to get my points perfect, but I'm still having FUN with it all LOL
I just have to lessen my intensity lol

~Susan~

Nilwood, IL(Zone 5b)

Judy, I got sick when I got home from the hospital and I laid them on the bedside table so I can see now. I never have put them there. LOL. BEV

Bev, are those hornets in that picture?

This is a different cold. I've only been coughing since yesterday.

Well I made it to work, tons of traffic and 4 wrecks to go with it. I'm late once in every blue moon, so to me it's not a big deal if I get stuck in traffic, especially with this new shift having to be at work at 8:30 instead of 8 also increases traffic issues. I walk in and was bombarded by 3 non-bosses, Ms. Cheerful who gets up at 3am to leave her house at 5:30am to drive 15 minutes being one of them, that I need to get up earlier to listen to the traffic report so I'll know what's going on. First of all, usually there's one wreck, then after that a bunch of rear-enders happen while I'm already on the road. My drive is 40 minutes to work, I leave an hour before I have to be at work, so that gives me 20 minutes extra for traffic, should be enough.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

bad traffic, baaaaaad - don't be mean to our Crissy lol

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Just a quick pop in have to get lunch before Bill gets here....

(((Hugs))) Tubby.

Debbie...how are things going....

Waving to all have to run!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

**waving to Trisha** ~~ ^_^~~~

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Well my grief hasn't ended there, someone has my name today and it's not Ms. Cheerful for once, been dealing with this all day. First the lateness from the traffic, then someone had to bring up the Swine Flu and of course my opinion was wrong wrong wrong, then there's this real loud fake coughing and "I'm alright!! I'm alright!!" Don't have a clue if that was directed at me but since this particular person hates it when I cough, which isn't near as bad as it was yesterday but now it's more congested sounding, and has been making a deal of everything I do today, it wouldn't surprise me.

Lyndonville, NY

I have had a day from He## today. Major college issues with DD, now in a new dorm which is much nicer. I stayed out of it...let her handle it. But had to go up anyway because they were sharing everything at the other dorm, and now are not...so she had no dishes/pots/pans anything to cook with. That is taken care of.

I couldn't take my meds today because of the college issue...just new I was going to have to go out. My BP is a roller coaster the last few days. But it is leveling out and better.

The wheel hub (or something like that) is broke on my van, so that explains the strange pulling.....and while under there he tells me my exhaust is cracked and ready to fall off. Yep, been wonderful!

BUT the sun just came out and I am going to nap. Its looking a bit better already!

Crissy feel better. And go cough on said person!

Bev, you back yet? Waiting for news.

Debbie
