Hi All pretty much the same here..My butt is real sore of just sitting..Even had to put a pillow in the kitchen chair..And they are cushion chairs (thick cushions)..I say I wish I had more meat on my butt..Shirley Says I'll gladly give you some...LOL

Hate just sitting.Grrrrrr

Tubby

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

I agree with Shirley....I think they are several of us who have excess we would gladly share if we could.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Why thank you, Crissy ^_^

Now Tubby - believe me, you don't want the meat on your bones that WE have lol We spend most of our waking day thinking about how much better we'd look Without It!! lol
But........ I suppose there's two sides to every fence!

I thought we had enuff camping gear for the two of us for two days but, according to my DH, NOT!! lol We went to Wally World and got some metal dishes with cups, coffee pot, frying pan & lidded pot all in one kit & all enamelled metal... siiiiiiiiiiigh he just can't rough it with our old cast iron pot & lid, paper plates and plastic cutlery....... with styrofoam cups lol
Well, the non-perishables are packed in the car, the perishables will go in tomorrow after work, then We're Off!! (like we aren't a little "off" already? LOL)

When we went to Wally World, we apparently "bought" a magazine, and got charged for it. Thing is......... we didn't Want to buy it LOL Ah well, back to the store to return it..... costs as much in gas as the price of the mag LOL

This gal is taaaaaaaaaaaaaahred......... so it's off to bed for me, and no gym tomorrow. Who wants to get healthy at the rate of exhaustion, just to put up a tent in the dark, in the middle of the woods?
I'd sooner do it when I have a modicum of strength........ Exercising takes away your strength! C'mon, I KNOW you agree with me, and are just dyyyyyyyyyyying to say it too! I hear you behind your 'puters saying "I wish I had the guts to admit it to the world!!" **whisper, whisper - exercising takes away your strength - whisper whisper**.....

ah well, I guess I'm gutless too, cuz come Monday, I'll be back exercising at the gym lol Wait a minute........... lose weight around gut....... gutless......... hmmmmm guess I'd LOVE to be gutless LOL

Morning All

Smile for ALL

Dan was a single guy living at home with his father and working in the
family business.
When he found out he was going to inherit a fortune when his sickly
father died, he decided he needed a wife with which to share his
fortune.
One evening at an investment meeting he spotted the most beautiful
woman he had ever seen.
Her natural beauty took his breath away. 'I may look like just an
ordinary man,' he said to her, but in just a few years, my father will
die, and I'll inherit $20 million.'
Impressed, the woman obtained his business card and three days later,
she became his stepmother.

Women are so much better at financial planning than men.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

He's running a Boot Camp now and had asked me to join it. He's also Not working for the gym I go to. They told me they had some "issues" with him....... hmmmmmmm

I am Really Glad someone's heard from Betty. My thoughts and prayers are with her, as are all of ours, I'm sure.

Anywhoooooooo, I'd better get to work...my boss told me I could take off from work a couple hours early, in recognition of the many times I've put in extra hours without pay, etc....

o my............... That just raised me up! Thank you ever so much!! ^_^

~Susan~

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Tubby you're too funny! I'm sorry your butt is so sore from sitting! Hate it when that happens.

Got lots to do today, phone calls to make, and a bunch of other what-not, so I'll talk to ya later!

I read online last night that the Bald Faced Hornets are only mean if you disturb their nest, and their great for catching flies, mosquitoes, and other nuisance pests. I need to find that nest so I don't get stung! That's why they just hover and check me out when I'm by the fence, but as soon as I start watering that one tomato plant adjoined to the Muscidine Vine I get circled. There must be a nest in that vine, there are not any trees super close where I would be aggravating the nest.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

well, isn't that just bald faced of them?! I wonder if they tell lies?!?!?!?!

I'll bet that tomato plant is where they are.........
I went to Marlene & Wilma's last night (I'd foamed a wasp nest the night before) and surveyed all the dead little bodies of the wasps. No more wasps in that flower bed, you betcha! It's a raised bed, and they nested between the two landscape ties side-by-side. Nasty wee things! I still have the mark where I was stung last Saturday.
Take care that you don't get stung, hon!
(((((((((((Crissy)))))))))))))

Glenview, IL

Hi...Running way behind schedual.

Ohh yay Susan so glad you can get a head start...Oh my gosh, you you have a fantastic trip!
Take lots of pics...
Man so sorry you got stung...

Bev and Crissy you be careful dealing with those.
Yikes Bev...Yours looks so enormous, I sure hope you get someone to do the removal.

Linda Kay, So glad you heard from Betty!
Oh gosh, How grand Andy is returning to work... How are you feeling? Have your resumed therapy?

Well, trying to get myself back into a routine...LOL, already I am behind, but needed to take care of some stuff.
We are excited this weekend is Jakes first game. Turns out he is now on the A team!!
We are going to be attending the game in Minooka, Had to look that up but come to find out it is only a half hour away from where we will be vising friends...So, That turned out real well, only bummer is, he won't get to celebrate with the team, but he's ok with that.
So, I will be camping to, lol Susan, I hope ya know I was just joshin about "roughing it" LOL, I will be in a camper, roughing it too.
heheh, will be thinking of you enjoying all the stars.

Sooo, what's everyone up to??
Hope your enjoying the day.
Trisha, so glad you and Sage got to work on the re-planting, hope the sale went well...
Oh how nice, you do Water colors as well. Will be great to see the difference in the mediems...Still wish I can paint, but stopped kidding myself, i can't so Always wonderful to see all the Talanted peoples, and We have many talanted people...

Come on come on Everyone, show us your art! Art is in many forms right, Quilts, embroidery painting etc...

OMG Liz, Long awaited for a good fit, so glad for you. Hopefully you will have alot less stress at the job front.

Well, i got to dash for a while see you later...

LOLOL Tubby that was a great one! Yep, sorry to hear your sore behind...giggling on Shirley wanting to share.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

It's only a 3-hour trip to our campsite, BUT apparently there is a cruise ship that takes us into Montana, on the US side of Waterton Lake. We don't need a passport, cuz we're not leaving the ship. I hadda laugh when they told me about the cruise, cuz the words they used were "it's a 2-hour cruise" I had to think about Gilligan & his 3-hour cruise LOL
It's $34/person, and that's certainly do-able ^_^
I'm gonna take pictures, f'sure. I packed extra batteries, just in case
Can't take pics of the stars, of course lol I don't remember the make of the telescope, but it's a 3" refractor. We've never gone out of the city to use it before, so that'll be lovely. That, and the cruise lol
Say, weren't we talking about a DG cruise, with the winnings of someone's lottery ticket? LOL Or was that another threadLOL darn CRS!!

~Susan~

Glenview, IL

I have heard it in many different instruments, sung by a great deal of artists, as well as international.

Still, it drops my to my knees and just brings to tears every single time I hear the different renditions.

LOL, now I must go se my sister memorial Web site! There is about 10 different versions...
Thank You

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Wow! LK like everyone else I love Amazing Grace!!

LK I'm so glad you talked to Betty!! I just have to wonder if I hurt her feelings by my post on the previous thread about the weather, I told her she was hilarious. Will someone go back and read it to make sure, It's the same day she sent Judy the dmail saying she wasn't going to be on. I'll be living with that until I know for sure, then I'll know how to handle it. Everytime I start thinking about that I start crying. I just love her so much, and I'm worried that she thinks that we don't care, when we very much care.

I just got off the phone with a 2 hour conversation with my mom!! Whew!

Mary I'm glad to give it!

I just wanted to throw a reminder to anyone interested, I started taking names for the Halloween Swap!

Crissy, Sweetie, Betty is not away because of anything that was posted by you or any one else.

I've also sent Betty an e-mail in hopes that she would reply...
...I did not question, as she asked that I don't, but I did tell her of
the last couple of days, how very much she is loved and missed.

Betty is happy we continue to chat and although she misses us as well,
feels the need to be with her family and friends at this time...Re-group if you will (my words, not Betty's)
LOL, as always keeping busy...

Thread was real quite today, actually everywhere I read, so I hope everyone had a wonderful day.
My day was filled with alot of running around.

...I will be away this Weekend, got to leave bright and early, So wishing you all a wonderful weekend.
Don't think i will have time to post in the morning...

Please, chatter on, look forward to reading all upon my return Sunday night!

Mary, LOL...Was telling Tubby, That I can type with six fingers...to his hunt and peck...Oh my gosh, Amazing what our kids can do without us expecting huh...Thats awsom and I am glad you got to enjoy his music...Also glad about the expansion of the band!!

Tubby, Hahaha, finally got to read the Work out Diary too...Was hysterical! OH...Will try and remember to tell you a story about Liz and the Bowling Ball...hahaha, just remembered...no time, so will leave you with that tease.

Well, it's late...
Best: Hearing from Betty and knowing she is ok, again.

Worst: Having Crissy think Betty not here because of her post.
So dear Crissy, I know Betty would say: come on girl, wipe those tears, all is well.

Learned: i have learned so much this day, hard to mention...ROFLOL, decided not so sure i like being a football mom, Way to much running around, lolol thats the only reason.

Wish us luck!
P.S. I did try to reach Betty via phone this evening, However; did not connect...LOL will keep trying.

now crissy i have a question, how is it that a company does not pay overtime, only straight time and get away with this in california????? is their a loop hole im missing?
this is dh's work and for the 70 hour work week to me it seems not worth it.

so with that everyone have a great saturday hello to all i missed

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Liz I didn't get stung, someone else here got stung. I don't remember who :( I went to my mom's last weekend, staying home this weekend. Where was I talking about overtime, I don't remember what I was talking about LOL Now that's some CRS! The State of AR doesn't pay us overtime, which means we leave when it's time to leave, no questions or anything, kinda nice!
That's hilarious about your mom! I talk to mine every day, sometimes I'm a chatterbox and want to talk, other times I don't want to say a word! I LOVE Cosmos. Yum!!!

It's gorgeous outside!!! 83 degrees, I need to start working on things but I want Chinese Food!!

Susan and Judy hope you have great weekends!!

Judy thank you so much for the kind words, I was kinda down and wishing I had some friends here in AR, It's starting to suck doing everything by myself.

I'm going to get outside, too gorgeous to be in the house!

Baton Rouge, LA

Hello To All;

Hey Crissy - So glad it's pretty there! I am the exact same way - when it's pretty outside I just can't stand to be inside...
I am also like you....sensitive...I seem to take everything personally....SO from me to you....I'm SURE it's NOTHING to do with anything you have said RE: Betty. She may just need a break.
I got all sensitive today...about Band Stuff.
Everyone knew I was going to 'resign' from my Band Secretary position (and I've been doing DH's 'vice president' position stuff too). We voted in a GREAT mom to take my place. She came over today. So we visited and talked and I handed over my files and sign up sheets.
So...After she leaves (Taking the 2 year old project that has been like my baby with her)
I'm telling myself...."Maybe no one wanted me in that position anymore"... Talk about Sensitive !

Susan & Judy are both out camping right now....correct? Hope you both have a GREAT time! I've always thought about renting an RV and heading out with the kids...now they are probably too old....but it would be totally different than anything we've done...

Liz - Too Funny - your Dog Loving employee... They do become like our children. I'm considering getting another myself....lost our 2 old ones in the last 3 years...
I'm so glad she's working out and hoping my 'new' boss is just as happy with me....

I 'closed' my fourth "new business" deal Thursday. My boss told me "I'm working on an account list for you but you're keeping so busy anyway.....".... LOL...that could be good or bad news.

So here's my day...

Good - got my "Birthday Facial".... (present from DH)....and Handing over the Band to someone quite capable who will probably take it further than I ever could.

Bad - Handing over the Band to someone quite capable who will probably take it further than I ever could.

Learned - I will probably get along better in the world if I just think the best of everyone and not be worried that everyone likes me.... and I know if I can achieve that...I will be more happy.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Oh my goodness Betty - see how you are missed. You are the catalyst for this thread - of that you can be sure. I've never seen this thread go almost 24 hours with no one here.

I've been busy today with some small quilting projects. I'm going on a quilting overnight with dear friends next Sat night and must have something to work on while I'm there. I'm working on a small Santa wall hanging and a wall hanging full of old fashioned jam jars. They both involve mostly handwork, not machine, so they should keep me busy.

We were afraid we might get hit with hurricane Danny yesterday but all we got was some torrential downpours. No wind to speak of but some street flooding. Today is just beautiful; in the 70's and breezy. I can't believe it's nearly September and we here in New England have only had four of five days of summer!!!! The leaves are starting to change and the nights are getting cooler. Great for sleeping!!

Hope this finds you and everyone else having a wonderful Sunday. Happy thoughts to all.. Barb

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

HI Barb.....glad to hear Danny took it easy on you.....when we lived in Taiwan we got hit with Typhoon weather several times a year....sure don't miss that. It was especially bad when te power would go out, wind and rain, temps in the 90's and humidity about a hundred and fifty percent....felt like you needed diving tanks on land!

Did about a fifty mile ride this morning....getting ready to make a cup of coffee and relax for awhile.

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Hi Trisha, I did about a fifty step walk today myself. Only joshin" I have COPD and couldn't ride a mile let alone fifty!!!
I was just asking my DH if we (Boston Red Sox) had any games left with the Mariners this year. I like to watch the games but I'm not a fanatic about it. I really do enjoy a good game though. Just wish the prices weren't so high to go to one. I've been to Fenway Park several times but I think the last time had to be a good 10 years ago. For some reason, I just don't like the crowds anymore. Especially when I can see better on the TV!!!!!
My daughter just mailed me my DGS's soccer schedule. Let the games begin...haha. He is a little peanut with the heart of a lion and he so loves this game.. Practices for the next two weeks and then the fun starts. We love to watch him.
How are Laura and Sean doing? And Sage? Has school strted out there? We started this week. Could you hear the big sigh of relief from New England????
And how is Cedric doing? I must admit I miss watching him in his travels.
Must go get some pie for desert. Talk to all later..///

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Love our team....not baseball in general. My sis lives in New York and her comment is " we are for Boston and anyone who beats the Yankees". We went to one Mariners game when Safeco first opened to say we had been there....I had much rather watch it on TV....compared to the seats we can afford, the TV view is much better, as is the commentary....no popcorn and spilled drinks raining down, and no drunks to listen to....guess I am getting old.

My nephews out there were scholarship Hockey/LaCrosse players until injuries and Life (girlfriends and needing a paying job) got in the way.

The kids are all hanging in there....Laura is still looking for work. Sage's school starts on the 9th.....you will be hearing that "sigh and applause" echo back from the west coast very soon.

Don't know how much longer I will be able to do these long rides....hips and knees are starting to complain....but it keeps my Chiropractor employed.....speaking of which I see him in the morning...hoooray!!!

Played with my paints for a bit....boy am I out of practice.

Cedric and Cici are doing fine living back in the Office/Sages room......once summer is out of the way and I am stuck inside again we plan on doing a calender or some project with the pictures etc. to commemorate his adventures. That should test my creativity to the limit.

Guess I should start thinking about what I am going to feed the other half, know he is going to be in from the shop and starving before too long....

Will check in later.

Baton Rouge, LA

Hello gals;

Trisha - I thought of you today...I was reading the business section of the paper and it mentions as an example a bicycle company....I think the name was Lewis & Clark...and how the owner sold socks there and for some reason the socks made the company grow faster.... Hm.
Barb are you able to make most the games? How old is DGS....

Not much going on tonight...

I'll check back in a bit.

Miss you Betty !

Hugs,
Mary

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Good morning Mary, sorry I didn't get back to you last night. Or grandson has just turned 9 in July and is a little pistol!!!! Yes, DH and I try to get to his soccer games. Most of them are close by - only one with travel of more than 10 miles. The only thing I DON"T like are the mosquitos. We are finding cases of West Nile virus and EEE here in NH and they are so dangerous. The towns are trying so hard to protect the kids with spraying etc. but some towns just can't afford it. I always bring some fabric softener with me. For some reason, they don't like it!!!!!

Trisha, a calendar sounds like a wonderful "in the house" project. You are so creative, I'm sure it would be a success. I loved your painting of the hibiscus. I sure wish I had some kind of artistic ability. I guess I'm one of those who are meant to appreciate the creativity of others. I can follow directions pretty well but I'm a "show me" not an "I'll find the way to do it" person. I guess all leaders need followers!!!!!

Today is a simple day. Look for a quilting book for barefootT, pick some embroidery threads to finish a wall=hanging, maybe sew on my grandson's quilt.
I hope it is a good day for everyone and pop in to say Hi when you can...... Barb

Pacifica, CA

morning all,

LOL Mary, we over think things, big time. That's good news!! The band thing will be fine, and they all loved you and are going to miss you.

50 mile ride, I used to ride like that, then I turned 16 and got my drivers license and car! So bye bye bike! Should have never let that go, I can't ride up a 1 ft hill anymore. I know about keeping the chiropractor employed! What a great winter idea Trisha!

Barb, I'm jealous, I'll trade you days! LOL

Liz that's the way my grandmother (dad's mom) was at 93. Her brain was extremely sharp but her body was shot. Yay for the daybed! I'm praying for your DH too.

Oh yea Liz. We were watching the Food Network Saturday night and there was this show about this competition of 2 Food Network chef's and 2 Local SF chefs. Everywhere they would drive to Dave would tell me what neighborhood it was, he knew it just by looking at the landmarks on the TV! Then we both started missing SF.

I'm going to have to chase down some speakers today for my conference in 1 month!!!! Gotta run!!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Crissy, there are days I'd gladly trade with you. Retirement is great without a lot of stress but sometimes it can be lonely too. Most of my pre-retirement friends live more than 50 miles sway so visiting is difficlut. My biggest chore sometimes is filling my days so I'm not worrying about Norm or others. I've found that the older I am the more I worry. Must learn to stop that!!!
Anyway, your time will come but enjoy yourself untill it does.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

I know it!! Too bad we can't think like kids sometimes, kids don't worry about anything! LOL

I just wish I had someone to do something with, it's starting to get real lonely.

I think I found that Bald Faced Hornet's nest too, even though I can't see it. I have two vines side by side with a mow strip down the middle, one is a Concord that has lost all of it's leaves already, the other is a very very full Muscadine Vine. I can't go outside whatsoever and water without being circled by one. I noticed some sitting on the leaves of the center of that vine every day. Well the lawn needed mowed so I'm riding and riding, did the outside of each vine without a problem, but went to the other side of the house to mow a small area of grass we have there and a small area in back and started being circled. ggrrrrrr So I went in the house for a little bit and did some laundry. Then went out and mowed the back and side, by this time it was almost dusk. Kept the mower on the lowest throttle and toodled over to the top of the vines, nothing sitting on the leaves so that's good, throttled up the mower all the way, still nothing, inched up a little more, nothing. Put the blades down, nothing. I stomped on the gas and hauled through the middle of them, kept going while turning my head around, 3 of them were chasing me! By now I'm in the middle of the front lawn, which is huge, put the blades up so the mower will go faster, then they were gone. Whew!! Put the mower away and went inside, watered after dark.

Hey Laura, not for sure where she is at! She is posting once in awhile on facebook!
Nice to see you posting! Is it getting cold there?

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Hi Laura, good to see you here! Betty is just taking a much needed break....a lot going on with friends and family.......she will be back with us cheerful as ever after she has a chance to recharge.....even Energizer Bunnies can't go Forever without new batteries....

Warmed up in the seventies this afternoon.....MIL was here for a visit.....

Then the mail arrived......ever since then I have been out planting and potting while doing a happy dance.....LIZ, YOU ROCK!!!!! I have enough Cacti and Succulents for my very own desert oasis...I just need to get a few Palm Trees (and the year round warmer weather to go with them)!!! A few of the items I have seen growing out in beds in the area so those went into the new front bed...the others, not taking a chance...they are in pots so they can move in out of the long rainy season.....My cactus from San Miguel has done well that way for the past 16 years...so it is covered walkway for the winter, then out in the elements for the summer.....some of the dish gardens with the succulents will come inside....I sure miss being able to grow these outside.

Going to mess in the paint for awhile....will check back later!
