Dave, I have had the plant for 3 days. It is in a 5 gallon plastic pot and it came from behind a stand of gingers at my friend's nursery. It got forgotten over the winter along with the ctenanthe lubersii. Come to think of it, I know where he got them. It is Ctenanthe tricolor......they both came from his trip to Stokes Tropicals......Cool. Now to figure out where they need to live.
Thank you Dave, you teach me things.
More Basil
That is really delving into the "genealogy" of plants. I am still trying to meet the cousins and you're going looking for the Neanderthal great grandparents....Too cool...grin
Pretty flowers Dave.
Phanerograms are the shells of plant pollen. They can last a long time in the soil.
I got interested in phanerograms as a way to tell what kind of plants a culture was using, in an archaeological site.
Here is Clerodendrum paniculatum.
It gives us a much better understanding of how ancients lived, how they treated illnesses, what they ate and grew. I read something about Phanerograms in a NatGeo article a while back....I think it was NatGeo.....
It also helps to establish plant history , cultivation and hybridization....Neat.
Hey, Lynnie, when you log on in the morning, why don't you do the honors and relocate the camp?
Have a good night all. sweet sleep.
Aloha a nui Jean!
Okay...I got here before you, so Gypsies, Ho....we are marching off to ....Basil Mint and other Goodies. See ya there. Oh, and Ican will be back soon.....Bears and Moose had a kegger so she is safe...GRIN
Rachel, my wife's only complaint is, "Tell the women to quit getting makeup on your coat. Cleaning is expensive." Lord, is that woman jealous or what.
Thanks for the kind words Kassy. I am also opinionated and bull headed. I like everybody and expect them to like me, if they don't that is their problem. I am also a clown. Seldom get embarrassed and laugh at myself when I pull a boner. Can get terribly mad but five minutes later can't remember what I was mad about. Can't hold a grudge for the life of me.
Beautiful flowers Dave.
Jim, are you sure you don't have a long lost brother out there? You and DHJim are VERY much alike....scary much alike...grin
Come join us on the new thread, Lynnie started it, and I think it is called more of Luping's basil....it is here on Beg Gardener.
Jim, you are a Good Man ;-)
Herbs are on the way Jim, I dropped them off at the post office on my way out of town for the weekend.
hey all...this is what keeps me busy when I'm not playing around outside. This one took about 6 months to do the top and I' getting ready to start the quilting. I used I think about 200 Crown Royal bags for this one. Tonight I'm moving my chocolate mint, everyone keeps stepping on it and it's time to yank out the tomato plants that the hailstorm destroyed.
Wow babeegirl! That's really nice! You should show us more of your quilts :) I used to think I'd try it some day but I always end up in the garden. Not sure if I have the patience but I love fabric. I used to have a collection of it too pretty to cut up :)
I drool on other people's quilts.
Glad someone posted on this thread, I never read this one, NOW I see all the names. I like icanrock :)
LOL Ican............I liked that one too for you
Very pretty babeegril
Pretty quilt babeegirl....a question? How do you manage to sew such beautiful quilts after all that Crown Royal....grin
I collect rocks too so it's 'bout perfect :)
When we went to Homer my son and I spent most of our time on the spit with our heads down and heavy pockets. He took his own little collection home :)
LOL moon!
I was trying to use locale and personal interest in the names, and had had my somewhat monthly Margarita while I was thinking....blame it on the Agaves...grin. I like Icanrock too. I think my favorite though is for Jim...Rock of ages....just seemed to suit him. grin
Ya that's a good one :)
Hey, need to know the secret. Gave up drinking with anything close to regularity years ago, now instead of shots of Cuervo and party-on, it is the occassional Margarita and early bed....at least I am finally a cheap date....LOL
LOL moon, so am I!
I don't drink at all!!
Except my flavored water that is ^_^
Also the designated driver...which is cool cuz that way I can go home when I am ready....let's cruise, gotta snooze....grin
I still drink but not much. Certainly went from party on to cheap date. I was eyeballing Dave's extra large bottle of Lambic at the store, and remembering he mentioned something about the alcohol content, wondering if it would put me on my lips.
LOL
That's very cool. You could have a Martha Stewart style egg basket at easter :) I'm envious, no die needed.
LOL, that's right, no die needed, unless you want colors other then brown or light blue or light green or mud green..............At easter time we get a lot of requests for them.
Wrong thread Kassy...lol This has eggs.....
See, I told you that chipmuck one got me ............................ROTFL
My son has star wars guys........................Hmmmmm
And ships and the AT AT, and let see.
OH that could be fun, here chippy, chippy
LOL! Are you sure you weren't drinking Lambic Kassy? I'm not so sure I believe you ;)
Yes Ican, I would not drink it due to meds I have been taking since I was 15.
^_^
Boy, did I miss a lot or what?...................LOL
babeegirl are you joining the band? you can be Pebbles (babeerocks)
That's good Lynnie....2 pointer. grin
sure! about the only thing I can play is the radio!
We need someone in a short leather skirt and go go boots dancing. Maybe you could fill that bill, babee.
