Thank's Dave.
More Basil
this past summer when we were in Idaho, I stopped at a garden center with my MIL. She was looking at herbs and there was one that was licorice scented. any idea of what it could have been? this thread got me to remembering I wanted to research it. She doesn't recall either what it was :)
Could someone explain what ROTFL means? I have a hard time with some of the abbreviations.
Dave, Rolling On The Floor Laughing ^_^
Of the three, Rachel, I thought that was more fitting....grin fish and gyms just didn't seem to work...grin
Dave, the third "ginger" he called (Syphinoculus) no idea how to spell it. He just said think of a VD and innocculate....quite the jokester my bud Zap.I think Zap meant the crinum was Sangria Lily http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/showimage/117415/
Here is a cool read on the giant red crinum asiaticum http://zipcodezoo.com/Plants/C/Crinum_asiaticum_var._procerum/
Thanks Kassy! I guess that goes along with that LOL thing.
yw dave ^_^
yw= your welcome
LOL= Laughing Out Loud
Dave if you need to know the abbreviations for any of them, I can tell you.....
I think I spent too much time in a chat program!
I've been out in left field for a long time with the abbreviations. Old red necks don't know that stuff.
The phrase can from the theme song of an old tv show. The Rebel. "Johnny Yuma was a rebel." Can't get it out of my head and can't remember any more of the words.
Got to go finish mowing before the rain moves back in. Later.
There are a few licorice sented plants. Anise Basil, Spanish tarragon..here is a link to Licorice Plant
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helichrysum
This is a cool plant in a hanging basket, Babeegirl.
Thanks Jean, the Sangria Lily does looks different from C. asiaticum 'Traubii'. Interesting to see conflicting epithets for it.
It will be good to see the flower of the Syphinoculus.
Hey, Dave. ROTFL is much easier than typing out
Spraying my monitor with coffee coming out of my nose.....
besides the letters let you picture whatever you want. Grin
You mean I spelled it correctly? My big Crinum in the front of the house is C asiaticum. This one is "supposed " to be the red blooming C asiaticum....not sure if all the info got processed right as we were loading them in the thunder...grin
LOL moon on the ROTFL
Syphinoculus is not a valid name. Seeing the flower will help determine a Genus / species.
I'm glad those abbreviations are not for fowl language!
Pretty plant Dave........Hmmmmmmmm
Nope, I don't think we need anymore licorice plants. When all the ones we have go to seed, we will have a ton.
And I have been trying to get rid of some of the plants......Shuuuush, he doesn't see me pull the little ones out!
ROTFL
So you gonna be a gypsy rock band gardener Kassy? Dave? Jim?, Ican?
Yup, I'll take Bedrock......I think I'm a Flintstone..LOL
Even though I am off for a week now, I love my bed ^_^
Especially when you don't get enough sleep during the time you are working.
I thought it kind of suited your life....and they all pretty much have a connection to us and our threads...Bed Rock Kassy....choose your connotation...grin
I have "Flintstones, meet the Flintstones, from the town of bed rock" going through my head now!!!!
I was sort of thinking Van Morrison's "(Into The) Mystic" if for no other reason than the line "Rock your gypsy soul".
I saw the Dead cover...you a deadhead Dave? But, Please Nothing by Wings.....grin
Big Kitty, Kassy. You'll have the Flintstones theme in your head the rest of the day. They're a modern-storic family.....grin
I had to take the picture for my DIL. She has been telling the girls at work how big he is, but they didn't believe it. Simba stayed laying in that postion for the longest time. I thought once I got the camera and the yard stick out, he would move, but he didn't.
I sent the picture to her at work in her e-mail......She said they believe how big he is now....LOL
That's a big cat! He must eat a bunch.
I like the Dead, but I'm not a Deadhead. I'm more likely to listen to Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, CCR, Stevie Ray Vaughan; mostly electric blues. Although I do have most of their studio albums (don't care for the concert stuff so much). I collect a lot of music.
McCartney is okay, Lennon is more my style, although his 1st solo album with the bowl of cherries on it is good (McCartney, "McCartney").
Seeing is believing ...
Dave, I told you I didn't know how to spell the name. I do now. Siphonochillus I have the S kirkii, and I believe he said this was different variety, this may be the one he called S 'tulip flower'
Hey Jim, where ever you are..........I was working for 4 whole nights, and then they threw a meeting in at me too during the day, so I'm a tad bit tired out especially when they make me break up my sleep like that. But yes to the question as to if I am off from work now. Off for 7 then go back in for 4 and then taking more vacation.
I'll be sending your seeds out soon Jim.....I wanted to let them sit and dry for a while since moon was nice enough to send us some of her rain ^_^
It rained 4 days in a row, a new record this summer. So I figured I better let the chive seeds dry out some before putting them into a bubble envelope. I'll try to get them out to you tomorrow with the sage seeds.
I have another package of seeds I have to send out too.
And yes Jim, I'm dating myself here, but I remember "He got fightin mad that rebel lad." "Johnny Yuma was a rebel." ^_^
Van Morrison, SRVaughn, Jimmy Vaughn Los Lobos, Dead, Who, Lot of International (world) music , Dibilo super soukas, Tanika Sami, Lots of Blues artists and Blues rock, Iguanas, rock-a-billy, StrayCats, Older Jazz....don't care as much for Fusion.....and some other stuff
. We just cleaned out our album collection....pared it down to about 300. Did the same with the CDs and got them under 400. We have got the coolest TUUVEN Mongolian throat singing CD It is quite nice to work by.
Wish we could hear some of your music Jean!
Great discussion folks! I have to get ready for work.
Today I'm building a porch gate, putting trim on windows & doors, and planting a Lane-Late Navel Orange.
Talk to you'se folks later!
Played by Nick Adams on TV. When I was a kid there were certain shows our family was going to watch because my Dad was going to watch them. Johnny Reb, Have Gun Will Travel, Yancy Derringer, Gun Smoke, The RifleMan, Daniel Boone, Combat, The Rat Patrol....
Dave, that why I have to work.........To feed him!
And he is on weight control food too yet to top it off. I wish he knew that!!!
I had to go to an extra large litter pan for him, the others were too small. My son offered to find out what they use at the zoo for litter boxes for the Lions........LOL
Hard to believe he was this tiny thing once ^_^
Boy has Lynnie got some catching up to do....and Ican is gonna be reading by the light of her laser dog toy. Grin
I remember them all moon
LOL moon
But we were just tint tots when those were on....majorily ROTFL....grin
OH moon, your not going to believe this.
We have a disabled guy staying where I work for 2 weeks because his parents are on vacation.
I found out yesterday where they went.
Alaska!!!
I wonder if Ican ran into them.....LOL
But wait until they get back and find out that he wants to stay with us. We must have done something right for him to not want to leave. He even wrote on a piece of paper, "mom, you and dad can live alone"..........LOL
LOL moon, I agree ;-)
Maybe he gets more attention there with you guys.
Yes, more people for him to joke with......he loves to joke around. 2 shifts, 2 different rotations, and 2 people there on the pm and weekend day shifts. 2 house mates. And then there is the bus driver, and I know he really likes joking around with him.
