i have slugs

(Zone 5b)

I'm going to do a year TONIGHT hahaha I just need a minute after dinner, after kids are in bed...the only problem is I'll be online ALL the time instead of half the time.

Delhi, LA

Hi Gang. Tried to get on this morning but rain storm knocked the sat out. Got 3.2 inchs in an hour. Spent the rest of the day at the city. Checked out the president's new car deal. Lot of crap like everything else. Oh well don't have but 210,000 miles on this one so got a lot of miles to go.

One of you tell me what a brug is.

Chezca, you being a good little girl?

Jim, you guy's getting our left over rain's;-) a brug. is a Brugmansia and cat's got alot to over-winter! She must like those plant's.

Delhi, LA

That is one I haven't heard of. I'll look it up later to night so I can see what it looks like. I'd hate for there to be a pot plant my wife. didn't have. Ninty plus and counting.

90 potted plant's. She sound's like me;-) Some brug's would be hardy in your area! Gorgeous/big bloom's to boot

Delhi, LA

I've got to see these things. I'd like to something I didn't lug in and out. Been lugging a split leave phildedrium in for years. Over at a ladies on day and she had them all over her back yard. Put that joker in the ground this spring. As big as it was it took off like a new colt kicking up its heels.

Show your split leaf philodendron to Dave..he can tell you if it's hardy for your area. From what I have read some are hardy down to zone 7.

Delhi, LA

This lady said hers had been in the ground for about 5 years.

If your plant is the same as the lady's you viewed......my vote would be to plant that darlin in the ground and quit lugging it around;-)

Delhi, LA

Already did this spring. Growing like crazy.

(Zone 5b)

I did it! I subscribed! Yay!

Good for you.......Enjoy;-)

(Zone 5b)

here are the roses you encouraged me on, Rachel...I'll prune them after those blooms are done I know they look silly!

kicking up its heels like a new colt - showing the excess and vitality of new life

"Here's to the newest member of Dave's Gardening." Glasses raised, elbows tilt, down the hatch, glasses shattering in the fireplace; oops, forgot all we had were paper cups and Thunderbird, $2 a gallon.

The roses are beautiful.

Rachael, I can't really remember what the foliage looked like but the blooms on it look just like a plant we used to have. I'm talking about the brugmansia. Ours was pink. The guy that gave it to us said leave it in the ground and cut it off at the ground and cover it with pine straw and it would come back. It did the first year but the second year didn't make it.

(Zone 5b)

thanks Jim....I'll have a coffee on that toast!
Jim I'm taking advice on how to train that climber....oooh I'm a member now I can check out the rose forum too!

(Cathy), MO

Good morning everyone. I just typed up a nice long post and it went off into cyberspace!

Rachel, it was last year I had so many brug varities. Only 7 this year and I'm still not sure how many will get overwintered. :-)
Seriously if any of you want a cutting this fall, let me know. I will be glad to share.

Jim, not sure what zone you are in, but I know a couple of people in LA who plant their brugs in the ground and they are fine. (By the way, we are still waiting on that Hippie picture!! LOL)

Lynnie, congrats!!! Members have lots more access. You can see everything now!! LOL

Chezca, are you up and at it??

Delhi, LA

Morning all.

"coffee on that toast," Shucks, I thought that was purdy. Saw something like that in a movie back in my wayward youth. Couldn't remember what they said. Couldn't read that fast then.

Do you root the brugs like you do roses? I'll put in my order for a couple. I think I'm in 8b. We are in extreme northeast Louisiana.

I was part of the beatnic generation. I was to old to be a hippie.

Morning everyone.
It is suppose to be in the 90's all weekend, finally summer. Except it RAINING!!
After making all that peach cobbler for the kids felt guilty stayed up last night made DH a cherry pie. Now he was so happy he gets a piece this morning first bite cherry pitt.
Can happen to anyone RIGHT? Second bite cherry pitt. Apparently this batch didn't get pitted before freezing.
Did the only thing I could think of I say ( with straight face)Honey take your teeth out so you don't break a tooth and gave him a cup to put the pitts in.

Hope everyone has a great day.

(Cathy), MO

You can root them several different ways. I normally just do it in distilled water with a dash of peroxide thrown in. I change the water every 3-4 days. (they don't seem to like all the additives in tap water) Some people use soil, some a bubbler, there are all kinds of ways and generally they are easy to root.

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

Jim was you like Dobie Gillis??

Delhi, LA

Um hmm! You bad jjs.

(Cathy), MO

LOL jjsgramma. Were these cherries bought from a store or did you freeze them?

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

It was one of my better pies( except for the pitts) can't waste it

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

I confess I done them. Musta got tired

(Cathy), MO

I hope you have a cherry pitter jjs. I had a cherry bush a few years back, but the cherries were so small and hard to pit, I have to admit, I let the birds have them after the first year! Lazy, I know. It was just so much work doing them one at a time, by hand

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

That was the problem I didn't. I tried different things and ended up using the end of my potato peeler that takes out the eyes. It worked but SLOW.

Bought one this year. Cherry trees got blight or something. No cherries

Better make note to self to check other bags before using. How embarrassing would that be at xmas.

I knew Maynard or his clone when I was in college. Looked like a creep but super smart. Walk across campus snapping his fingers and wagging his head. We figured he was smoking some of those new cigarettes that were just starting to make the rounds. Dating myself aren't I.

Silent movies, I told ya'll up front that I was older than dirt.

(Zone 5b)

who's Maynard?

Delhi, LA

The beatnic on Dobie Gillis.

(Cathy), MO

Quiet in here today. Is this thread getting super slow for anyone else to load? Think we should start another one somewhere???
