What have you ordered for 2009_Part 8
I don't see it, Jo Ann.
A 'few more', Thom?!
Upper left, dont pay any attention to the Lamium invading the big daddy.
The Big D's were transplanted this spring so they remain undersized,as were the AugMoon and Blue Cadet
Oh - I thought you said you had the Autumn Moon JM!
Sorry wrong moon.
I only have Spring Delight and corellaneum.
Its a sweet tree.
Your birthday continues
I'm sure you put up a good fight, Celeste. NOT!
It hasn't even come yet! lol
Yes, Jo Anne, I was talking about the Autumn Moon JM that Celeste got for her DH. I did get the August Moon hosta earlier this year, though.
Thom, you're funny! 'A few more'. LOL!
Karen
Nope no fight. This rain is so depressing and they cheered me. lol
How big is the JM, Celeste?
I wouldn't have been able to resist them either, Celeste! Very nice! Can never have enough Astilbe.
Karen
I love astilbe too. No problems with them at all.
I was at Shaw's today to pick up a few things, and I came home with a new Gaillardia I didn't have called 'Summer's Kiss'. I didn't put up much of a fight, either.
Karen
Not very big, maybe 2ft?
Mine is still pretty small too. It's a slow grower. Mine is about 3 - 3 1/2 feet.
It def. attracts the eye.
Absolutely - put it in a place where you can easily see it. It can take a good amount of sun - especially up there.
Ok, I know this should be for another thread, but I read somewhere that peeps were concerned with certain JM's not doing well. 'Butterfly' was one of the JM's mentioned, mine (2nd year) is growing like a weed (as JM's growing like weeds can grow...lol) The only "problem" I've had was with 'Peaches and Cream' but I also A-planted it very late in the season (October'ish) B-Put it in a mixture of soil/ash/potting mix (it's in a mound of soil where I dumped all of the soil mixture from my pots last year) and C-the area that it is at was flipping windy as anything last year (post deck installation). Other than that my JM's are groing like gang busters...
...a few more...and I'll probably get a few more again. I contacted a fellow DG'er that is moving and I may, just MAY be doing a DL~Hosta swap...woohoo!
hem i think the only problem with butterfly is it tends to have green shoots emerge from time to time - they need to be cut off immediately - as for peaches and cream planting it in used potting soil it may not be getting the nutrients it needs - the wind probably did not do it any favors either - i have a p&c new this year and it is doing fine.

I have a new P & C this year - in a pot, and so far, so good.
My Butterfly wasn't necessarily sending out green shoots, it was sending out these ginormous leaves...the leaves for the Butterfly are about the size of a quarter (give or take) these other ones were about 5" or so...I do immediately pinch them. I do that to anything growing sporadically or not normal on any of my JM's. The P & C, I can see why it isn't thriving, but that is/was my fault...I have ammended the soil where it's planted (top dressed with compost) but it suffered from really bad tip burn/die back...again, my fault for where it was placed, and how late I planted it. Nothing a pair of pruners couldn't handle though.
I think it was Patti, not sure, that told me about zebra gardens. I went to the clearance section there and ordered 10 different ones. I order 10, get their new 09 introduction, and 50% of the total in freebies :-) I think the broken color pattern (BCP) in Iris is really neat. I have Batik and that Iris grows crazy...so, I figured, sale+BCP=happy hem :-)

***Included the hyper link to the sale page...not that I'm pushing Iris' now, but...ya know....lol.
Thom, I'm not even gonna look! I will be too tempted if I do!
Karen
It wasn't this Patti, so I am innocent. But I will look. Thanks Thom. Patti
That's a great color on the Mande, for sure!
Thanks Willie, I picked it with the hummingbirds in mind. : )
Nice, Meredith!
Karen
Nice bloom on Shay, Meredith! I like the color.
I'm wondering that that Verbena is not liking the wet weather. I don't know how much rain you're getting there, but we've been getting clobbered here! So many things are getting knocked down by all the rain and wind. Will we ever get summer? Here's hoping for a drier July.
Karen
The seedlings are looking good. I have many seedlings to plant out. Gotta get that done after all this rain is finished.
Karen
Me too, I like 'Shay' and the hummers will love that red!!!
Thanks Karen, Yes I am getting a lot of rain too. It's been light rain but the plants are still flopping from not having dried off in days. That Verbena looked like that since two days after I planted it at least a month ago. I think it wasn't hardened off when shipped.
Thanks Pixie, sorry I am in slow motion tonight. ;)
