Beautiful Wisteria Karen!
Wow Onewish Allison , that is awesome! I want one too. : )
Wha Bill, I want to know more about your Mock Orange... Is it as fragrant as the old fashioned kind? I saw some but didn't want to get one unless I could give it the sniff test. : )

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Wow - very nice, Allison! Have fun with that. Time-lapse feature too.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

yeah I kind of figure the thing is going to be moved all over the yard.. humming birds.. motorized bird feeder... flowers opening.. well you get the idea

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

I want one. I have a BirdBath thats glazed a robins egg blue and the gold finches come to it, what a color fest.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

no kidding... sounds like a good photo op!

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

The camera is a wonderful gift,I cant afford it right now but have on my wish list.

One on ebay right now for 100 bucks brand new and in the box. Lets see what it goes for. 290321960148

177.50 - I got out bidded :-(

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

Meredith yes it is as fragrant as the old ones and the flowers are better too since they are a double - i reads like it will not get as large 6 ft or so - my old ones i have been meaning to trim for years, they are over 10 ft right now. i can post pic's but there is no way for a scratch and sniff over the internet:)

Southeastern, NH(Zone 5b)

Thanks! Lol too bad there is no scratch n sniff! That would make dg so much better! : )

Thomaston, CT

Isn't that a great idea! Allison, am drooling over that bird cam---maybe for birthday-Christmas-anniversary----IF I get lucky! IrisMa, do not remember buying Batik---it could have been a freebie with an order, or something was mislabeled---it was just weird. Bill, like the sound of the hinoki---Jo Ann, will love to see the birdbath!

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Robin, did your Batik bloom 2 different blooms on the same bloom scape, or was it 2 different bloom scapes, possibly on 2 different rhizomes? Do they call them 'scapes' on iris like they do on DL's, IrisMA?

Karen

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

meredith while patiently waiting for the rain to come i planted the mo and did a sniff test - both are the same

only $20 for these at mahoney's in chelmsford (used to be lawton's) they in the back right where they have trees. also saw some big shirazz there - must be from last year - they are under tents and don't look so good, they need more sun for the leaves - they will never sell - may have to stop in at the end of the year when they have a sale:)

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

That is a very kewl gift Allison. He's definitely a keeper, and by the way, since meeting him...a very nice guy!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

I will send him the regards.... I would think Jack being there would make him feel better that he wasn't the only guy

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Don't hold your breath for mine to show up at any of these events.

Thomaston, CT

Karen, it was actually the same bloom scape---that's why it was so strange--the one scape had those 2 blooms at the top. I'll see if it happens again next year.

Southeastern, NH(Zone 5b)

Bill thanks I'll have to head down to Mahoney's sometime, I used to love it when it was Laughton's. I went once since they changed over and was a little bummed out at how the nursery didn't seem to have the unique selections like they had in the past. Have you ever been to the Mixed Border in Hollis? I really love that one for some reason. Please keep in mind that I love native plants or anything for butterflies and hummingbirds, probably not the best place to find JM's - although I think they had a few when I was there last.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Onewish I'm so greeeeeeen over the birdiecam! I'm hoping you will have alot pics to share!

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

i've been to a couple in hollis, lulls farm is one, will have to look up mixed border - not sure if i went there yet or not.

not sure how bad you want that mockorange - they had four left in the sale/reject section i told you about - there were not in great shape, they are ok though and after trimming the one i got it looks pretty good.

both of the conifers i picked i would consider rare - had not seen either anywhere else.

South Hamilton, MA

DL=scapes Iris=stalks

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

LMAO @ myself. I thought the 'scape' was the whole kit and kaboodle ie. stalk and flowers and I've been saying 'Very prettiful scapes' to my daylilys for years. No wonder some of them quit blooming!!!!!

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

LOL. Dnut, you'll have to dance for them. They just wanted some entertainment.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Drat Jan23. Here I thought maybe they needed lifting and poop or something, and meanwhile I was insulting the poor things. I shall create a new dance just for them called the Dip of the Daylilies (cuz they dip in the wind).

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

I am just happy to have tall poking up things with buds on the top on anything growing that I planted, no weeds, thank you.

Today I planted the last of most of my spring plants There are a few others in the sick bay and a couple more not listed that I need to do some weeding before I plant them. Feels good.

I picked up most of this list, except the roses and grass, on my last trip off island. At Walker's Farm in Vt as they sell 6 pks of small perennials for 3.99 each, so those are perfect to use to bulk up the garden in time by these very affordable common, but useful plants.

Here is a shot of the little half price roses, but they should all do just fine, many being rugosa and the others just shrub roses. With shipping about 92.00 for 17 roses or about 5.41 each including shipping. I especially wanted a bunch of Moore's striped rugosa for years and never could find a source that had small ones, so I was thrilled to find them at 5 for 18.75. Patti

Wow, Patti, what a haul!!!

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

What a haul and what a deal!

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

flowerjen, Yes a nice haul to haul onto the steamship as I had too much for taking the plane. Plus there was a big garbage bag filled with things Boojum gave me that I didn't photograph. I fill flats and then tape another on top as a lid then stack up to four flats in my suitcase . For the tall ones I nest them on their sides and tape on a lid. Nothing was broken until I dropped one of the artichokes taking it out of the box, but only 2 leaves. Patti

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Do you usually fly off the island?

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

dahlianut, I bought a load of those 6 pks in May and they were doing so well that I went back for more. I am pulling out all the big stands of that invasive flag iris, so I need to fill many holes. They won't do much this year, but most will be good for years. I wished more nurseries sold 6 pks still. Many old reliable annuals are now being sold for an arm and a leg in bigger pots or 4 pks. This same place sells great veggie starts with a huge and wonderful selection of varieties at a flat rate of 2.00 each if you by a total of 8 six packs. I thought that a great deal, plus they don't sell puny plants, half dead plants covered in bugs.

We often fly as it only takes 15 mins to fly and over 2 hours on the boat. If we take the dogs it is way easier to fly. We don't take a vehicle often as we keep a car on the mainland. Trying to make car reservations for when you want to go can be impossible, plus it is very expensive to take a vehicle. Island living is always a bit of a challenge, but it teaches you to be totally flexible. Like right now the fog is starting to role in and those people who are trying to fly may be out of luck. The next boat is at 8:00 tonight. Patti

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

well so far my aim has not caught the humming bird... the only thing I got was pictures of me.. and Riley the puppy when I held him in front of it

LOL

but I moved it around now.. hopefully it's sensitive enough to catch them

Southeastern, NH(Zone 5b)

Ahh Wha I didn't mention how I drooled over Mahoney's tree and shrub section. Too much $$ for the stuff I wanted to get. The JM I want cost about 1250? Maybe in my next life I can spend that on a tree. ; )
Thanks, Not sure where to put the mock orange yet. I saw a double form at HD the other day and the tag said fragrant - but I've learned to not trust tags. Real gardeners opinions are more reliable. : ) I am going to be off on 3rd week of june so I will go down then. If they are out I'm sure I will be able to find something else for my cart. : )
Patti you go girl!

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

No kiddin Patti but your place is such a show place I can't imagine holes LOL. I don't do many annuals because of drought and trying to be a waterwise gardener. I'm still huge on lobelia. Others I luv and easy seeders are violet select dianthis, lavetara, godetia, certinthe 'kiwi blue' and this year osteos. I started osteos from seed this year and I think Onewish you have them too! but I got so lost in all the threads and bobbins I'm not sure sigh.

Thomaston, CT

I have many holes in a perennial bed because my son dug out a dump truck load---I still have more to dig out, but I'm not sure what I want to put in---I'm leaving 4 clumps of Phlox, & 2 roses, plus a bunch of lillies & iris---I think maybe a few more huechera, verbascum, & penstemon---I also liked the scutellaria Meredith posted. And some small DLs---the others engulfed everything around them.
