Reminds me I have to go shop for containers of colorful plants to place on these metal steps...a bit of white metal paint wouldn't hurt would it..there I go, making a 'to do' list which I said I wouldn't do for this weekend

Bad part of the day...

You know that Kyle is extremely brilliant but has a touch of asperghers syndrom (?) small signs and one of the signs is he worries about anything and everything..just called and said he was coming over to talk...

He heard that a gunman went into the Holocaust Museum in Washington and fired..think from what he says, a guard has lost his life...

He wants to talk about how this person went to read on internet, not believing about the holocaust and wanted to end many lives...went on about our visit..what we had seen..can't believe the horror...

Although I'm teaching tonight he wants to come and talk about it..bothering him...the why's, what if's ..young children certainly take these tragedies to heart...

What did I learn today.... not to judge too quickly...

Baton Rouge, LA

Oh Betty! Please pass a cup of soup my way! Love Soup - what kind is it?

What a kind note for someone to leave! I've been reading about mysterious notes tonight....eh Sharran!

I love the pics of your gardens. The floormat came out perfect! I know you've sent over detailed directions on how you do that...but I am not the crafty one....DH is....so do you hand paint those?

I did show DH the newpaper/concrete pots and he WAS very interested.....hoping he'll make a few....arts/crafts is his forte.....not mine...

Your daisies really bring out the stair....was that something to be used as stair that you could see would be perfect in the garden? I'll have to practice seeing things in that way....maybe give me some ideas for Mom's Garden....I have a plant holder like that....that stair steps up....came from her house...all rusty...but maybe could do something with it.....

I don't know what asperghers syndrome is....I'll have to google it....BUT my immediate thought is that.....

Kyle is a brilliant young man because A) He knows he needs to talk about this.....and B) He knows exactly who he needs to talk it over with.

Great signs....if he heard the news and was in bedroom all night with door locked and Alternative Rock blaring....THEN I'd be worried....

Hugs to all;

Mary

PS: Sharran - On Chapter 6....yes I have shed a few tears.....I think I will finish this book tomorrow as I am still on "vacation".....

Victoria Harbour, ON

Mary, do not say you are 'not crafty' I always say, 'it's not that you are not crafty it's that you have no interest in trying' lol

Kyle did ride over, we gabbed for awhile, said he had homework and had to get home...the girls here at painting just love him.. the condition Kyle has is the lowest on the scale of autism...you'd never know it..he seems to be outgrowing many of the symptoms as he's aging..

Took the soup out of the fridge and realized my science projects are all gone, she's cleaned them out..lordy, don't know how I deserved such a friend..actually she's my DIL's friend/cleaning lady but for some reason she's decided to befriend me as has her mom...always finding treats..people say, lock your door, and I say, how would I get all these goodies and nice things done for me..lol..

Mary, the metal staircase and chair were at a warehouse in Meaford, sales barn type establishment..think I spend $15.00 on the metal chair and maybe same on the staircase...

I'm always on the lookout for something for the garden..soon time to stop though ..there is a fine line between nice or junky...

Tired tonight..long day ahead ...

Good Lord willing we'll gab tomorow

Night/night dear friends..

Baton Rouge, LA

You are right Betty - I know DH would do a bang up job on the pots so I showed it to him rather than try myself...

I'm content with planting, blogging, and reading....

Kyle was able to talk about it ...that's wonderful...

Seems as though DIL is making sure you have what you need. I wish I was as good a DIL - but maybe one day I will be....I do have a friend that cleans houses that would drop by MIL's if needed....

I will look for some paint for Mom's planter....maybe this can be my first idea for the Memory Garden....Of course DH hasn't cleared out the "Sanford & Son" part of our backyard yet.

Vacation again tomorrow but I'm tired of job searching...I think I will set myself the goal of completely cleaning out my laundry room....I mean ...really tear it apart!

DH out of town tonight. The girls get back Friday. Taking DS out for Sushi after summer school tomorrow.

Hugs to all,

Mary

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

Just keep on reading, Mary...it gets better and better.
Great garden pictures, Betty.

Thinking about you all, too, Bev.
Hugs all around....

Baton Rouge, LA

Hey Sharran -

I do think tomorrow will be a combination day of reading and cleaning...

I think I have reached my brink of sending out resumes....

Clean out the Laundry Room, Finish The Book.....Relax....that is my day tomorrow.

Hugs,
Mary

PS; tears already on this book....I can tell it is special...((((HUGS))))

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

Yes, very special.

(Laura) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Sorry I’ve been off so much recently. I haven’t been having access to the internet except when I’m in escapism mode. I should be on more once summer break starts.

Well, the smoking thing has hit a stumbling block… again. We’ve been having some fairly serious money issues and I’ve fallen back to smoking; still less than I was before, but not very good. I’m working on trying a different way to cut down; we’ll see. I was hoping to get the patches on my health insurance, but it turns out I lost that at the beginning of the month. I also think I need the spike. I wish the gum didn’t mess me up, idea wise that’s the one that seems like it would work the best for me.

On the good wishes/prayers front, I’d really appreciate if you’d add a thought for me getting a good job; I can use any help I can get.

On a happier note, my yard is beginning to look like something. If the seeds/weeds will ever get high enough I can tell the difference between the two. I also have several plants I put in. I got my herb garden set up. I also finally got my fountain/pond set up so it works; the plants need to grow in, but here it is. I’m hoping to get it set up so I can have a couple fish in there, just little feeders, but something. Sage would be thrilled.

Amen and thank all of you for your prayers. Morgan got to go home last night. All tests came out fine. Was two of her meds fighting each other so when they took those away and put her on another they slowly evened out and she is fine. Talked to her last night and all she could say was she wanted a shower to wash her greasy hair. Thats a young girl for you. HAPPY TODAY. Love and hugs to you all. BEV
Loved the flowers Betty.

Bev, doing the happy dance for you all...Morgan sounds as though she's back on the road to recovery...when she starts worrying about your looks/hair you got to know she's feeling better...

Judy, how are you doing today?

Laura, sorry you are going through such a rough patch....watched Creflo Dollar Ministry this morning and his sermon was on the economy /loss of jobs and having faith in the Lord...prayers/prayers and more prayers coming your way...

Your water feature looks adorable, my goodness you've done a wonderful job, nothing like the sound of water ..calms you doesn't it..get yourself a chair and rest for just a bit...

I've planted so many seeds, every morning I do the walkaround and do the same, is it seed growth or weed..overly anxious so just leave them grow..won't be long you'll know which is which...love the brick work behind the water feature...

Mary, DIL isn't the one who sends her..she's actually very near their age, late 30's, lives with her parents and think she just likes playing in a house and her dad won't let her in her own, so she drops in and takes Sailor out for a walk, today is Thursday most likely she'll cut my grass and that is a few hours work, yesterday she put a load of dishes on and away, really makes my life easier...AND the soup was chicken/tomato soup..delicious...ate the entire bowl..lol

If I get to the pots/rocks before you hubby I'll let him know what woes I've encountered, if he starts before me, he can let me know...lol .. guess the bags of cement are going with me to the city today unless I can find somewhere to put it where the rain won't get at them...got to use it up on something..

Shar/Mary sure wish I had that book to bring to the hospital this morning and then to the Toronto Customs Office..maybe I'll stop in Barrie and see if the have a copy at Coles if I'm not running late..

Deciding what to wear, thought it might be a sunshine day but looks as though it could be rain and chilly..you just don't know how to dress...

Enjoy your day, wish me luck at the passport office..hope there aren't 500 people wanting to do same....SHOULD NOT have procrastinated as I did..that will teach me..

Gotcha!! You thought it was going to be one of those heart-touching stories!

Send this on to your friends and make them laugh.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

LOL!!

Liz he still has a job, working swing shift is so much easier on him, I can see it in his face and he's in a much better mood already!

Laura quitting is extremely hard, and when you're stressed it's even harder. Keep up the good work with it and just think of how much those cigs cost....

Well I have about 20 days of work to do today so I more than likely won't be on. I didn't sleep hardly a wink last night either. The washing machine repair guy is supposed to come out this afternoon so I'll have to leave work to do that, hopefully this will be the last time! My goodness!

Glenview, IL

Good morning.

Thank You all for the hugs and warm thoughts about Birdie.

My but a very sad day at our house...We had a late night funeral for her. The kids all decided she should be buried in amongst the new garden section, and Julia wanted the lil Laurel house for the top, said she has only ever lived here. So we moved the mini house and I think it liooks real nice there. We laughed at how it's orignal intent was to be a bird house anyway so now it's Feather's house...

Funny how little things remind you, I had the prettiest Yellow and Orange bloom on my new Portulaca, called Sundial Yellow, (thought it was a Dianthus) Bloomed just yesterday!

Laura, Your water garden is so pretty.

Liz, What a big Drag about your computer! Hope you get a new soon, nice your SIL loaned you the laptop.
Oh Yeah Steve was like a little kid at Christmas...ear to ear grin, He is so happy...He intends to build a small shed just for the bike!
It is the 2003 XL1200 Custom ...100th Aniversary, OMG it is gorgeous, lots of Chrome and has the Screaming Eagle exhaust system
really nice ride.

Mary...On the job hunt, first sit and write your resume...If you put it into the Job Search engines, then all the business who list there will see your resume, my job searches also send matches for what I am looking for, so I can browse thru and apply to those I am interested in. Also, for the Jobs I am interested in I have created a cover letter and tweek it to the individual companies I apply to as well.
Then, on the side...make yourself a two minute self commercial, and practice talking about yourself...lol, this is not an easy thing to do
In your commercial, you want to say who you are and what you have accomplished in the business world, don't be afraid to tell a few things you are most proud of and close with how you can be an asset to the interviewers company...
...This is what they mean by tell me a little about yourself!

Bev, So Happy to Hear Morgan has gone home! Whew those meds sure can be crazy, how good they figured it out.

Betty, I am doing ok, thanks...just need to get used to the house being quieter.

OH, Also...I put out my humming Bird feeder...made my own feed and one has found it!! So exciting.
Also, Liz, suppose to go later today and see if I can get it hooked up, lol txt ya soon as I can.

Well, I 've got to get moving...Today is Sabrina's 16th Birthday! got to make a cake. Taking her to TGIF for birthday dinner. Also We've decied she should hae a nice camera since she has been into Photography so will take her shopping later....LOL, what a present it's the Last day of school too!

Linda Kay, wow Paco sounds like a reall beauty, got a picture, would love to see her.
Well, it is too soon, but we have always talked of the next bird being a Parrot, We even thought of getting one many months ago, thought birdie would love the company...If and when I do get another bird, (we are bird people) I would like a miniature Parrot, Always thought they were cool.

Ok..got to get in gear, yesterday just didn't feel like anything , so today gotta play catchup.
Here is my Sundial!

Have a great day everyone. See you later.

LOL, forgot to say...

Mary, i will have to check out that book! Love reading, so will look for The Shack.

Another very good book is called Normal People, will have to look for my copy can't remember the Author, but wow, be prepared to laugh and cry outloud and in public, you just can't help it...This book had every emotion going.

And, Yes..Do read the Round Robin Writer's...personally I just love how each writer takes on a new chapter, excellent reads. They are on the 3rd or 4th "book" now, which i have yet to read, but LOL, Once I get caught up I will be waiting anxiously for the next installment, and i got to say reading the Comment thread is as fun as reading the stories!
Alright, gotta go...

Baton Rouge, LA

Hello Everyone!

Good to see you folks that haven't been on in a while!

Laura - Don't be too hard on yourself....Just think how good it was for you to lay off just for the time you did! Your fountain is pretty ....I love feeding the fish in my pond...it is almost therapeutic...

Hey Liz! I might have the recipe somewhere....Sorry to hear about computer woes....that and car problems are the 2 things that really get to me....sounds like a big job in the yard with the trees...

Betty - good luck with the passport. Chicken and tomato sounds yummy...maybe I'll have soup for 'breakfast'.....got up very late today....just want to enjoy a day off...

Judy - that's great about the birdhouse.... I love portulaca's ...I have a sundial mix and they were very pretty about a month ago ...DD said they were like finding easter eggs...all kinds of bright colors popping up from nothing but now the heat has really taken it's toll on them....they look stringy and not so many blooms....

I've posted on careerbuilder and monster so let me know if you know of any others....it just seems that there are so many 'scam' type entries on there .....'fee involved' and what not....just hard to weed out the actual 'real' jobs. I have one really good interview tomorrow I'm looking forward to ...then back to the 'old' job Monday.

Hugs to all,

Mary

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Having trouble getting going this morning so just a quick scan through....

Hi Liz, sorry about the computer.......had some issues with our desk top....could not get online...everything else works fine....gave up canceled internet...and rarely ever use that computer except when we need a couple of the files stored in word and publisher....just use my laptop for Everything, and I can take it with me and keep up with DG where ever I happen to be........wouldn't trade it!!
Wish we lived closer! You could unload all your unwanted plants and lemons on us!!

Same with the cement Betty....would love to take it off your hands!

Haven't been able to get in touch with the guy who usually does occasional yard work for the neighborhood ladies so I am going to help Laura out getting one of the yards weeded out today....Dorothy is in a walker, and Laura really needs the money right now...being out of a job has played havoc with their finances. This won't make a big dent, but will at least pay for her medication.

Glad to hear Morgan is better....

Judy (((hugs)))

Know I have missed some things but running late and will try to catch up later. Waving to all.

Baton Rouge, LA

Hey Trisha -

Are you guys doing that today? It's pretty here but very HOT so a good day to clean out Laundry room...just hose everything off outside and it should dry soon.

Judy - sorry - forgot to say "Happy Birthday Sabrina" ! You call her Breenie sometimes don't you? Isn't it "Sweet 16" ?

I'll have to look for Normal People when I am done with this one. (That's a funny sentence!)

Hugs,
Mary

Victoria Harbour, ON

I'm back.. so laughing at you thinking I'd already have crossed the border, if I had it I might just do that this weekend but nope, not for a few more weeks...

Just walked in about 10 minutes ago, Cathy was here, I had picked up steak/new potatoes/corn for supper but I need not have..her dad made a big stew - sent me a bowl and her mom made fresh rhubbarb pie so decided to cook the corn, keep the steak and potatoes for tomorrow night..she asked me if I noticed that she had cleaned my refrigerator, all my science projects were gone..yep, I noticed..lol

What an absolutely glorious day I had today, nothing in particular but just fun, me, myself and I..

Started out early this a.m. and washed/vacuumed the car at the car wash, couldn't stand seeing like it was, couldn't even tell the color of it...then to the hospital I went...had my cat scan, didn't particularly enjoy the meds they insert into me ...was out by 9a.m.

Decided that with the sun shinning I was NOT going to take major highways to the city, took absolutely every back road I could find..even went through Wasaga Beach (much like Florida Beaches but closer...lol..

then through the hill of Mono..beautiful scenery..passed several nurseries, told myself to remember where they were for the ride home..got to mom's about 11:30..she was ready and waiting to take me to the passport agency...got there at 11:55 and was out of there by 12:10..quick/quick/quick...young man asked me if I had any plans to cross the border in the next couple of weeks, said no but not long after I receive my passport..asked him why I had to have my 'now' photo when I could add a photo of when I was 21 and pretty..he just chuckled, he had a good sense of humour..so $87.00 later he gave me back my documents and said it would shortly be in the mail..possibly within a week or two...so everyone, I'm excited as can be...

Only spend about 1/2 hr at mom's, had to look at all her dolls and the new one she's making , she also had various pictures in frames that she wanted me to take..not sure I'm going to use the photo's in them but I did like the frames..I've a few pieces of art that I need frames for so they just might fit...then off I went..mom was telling me the easiest way out of the subdivision to get to the major highway, told her nope, taking the scenic route...

I passed 2 nurseries and just past the 3rd when I realized they had pretty flowers so 'u' turn and into the nursery...must say in all of my life I've never ever seen flowers so healthy and giant size, not sure what they do but lordy/lordy they were big...the hanging baskets (lg. size) have to be 4' wide and about 4' long..absolutely breathtaking...I hymed and hawed, they were 29.99 but if you bought 2 it was 25.00 each..they had some for $8.00 that were nice so bought 4 of them..kick myself all the way home, now I'm going back to get a large one for the frame out back and one for back deck..maybe a weekend ride...

Then about 15 miles from there was a cute general store, full of goodies..browsed in there but didn't purchase anything, did have a piece of fudge though..lol reason nothing came home with me is because a lot of it was $39.99 - $99.99 and I've seen the same thing at the Meaford Wharehouse for about $12.00 to $40.00 so will head that way one of these weekends....

Then I came into Elmvale and the fabric shop was open..bought some fat quarters..omg...$4.50 each, all of you who sew have no idea how lucky you are to get them for the price you pay...

No sooner left there did I see that the Thursday Market was open...not a lot of vendors because it's not July/August but had to be about 20..ended up with fresh berries/apples/pears/peaches etc. so already cut up and in the fridge..nice fruit cocktail for tonight and breakfast...

So now I'm in Vasey, little country store was open, finally, bought some butter tarts, just out of the oven ... she had me get one that had cranberries with the raisins..they sure look good, all the time I was purchasing them I was thinking of Marion who so loves buttertarts..lol

Finally I asked about the green tea flowers...every heard of them...well I wanted one to send to Linda Kay with her fat quarters tomorrow and one for Twyla..was so pleased they had some..she said a new shipment will be in next week so I'll have to pick more up and send each of you one ...

Then I arrive into town, go to post office and there is a pressie for me..will open it up after I eat..stew is still warm and I haven't eaten today except for a muffin/coffee this morning...

Got in the car and just as I was leaving noticed the Library was open...asked about the book and she said it was quite popular and was in the Port McNicoll Library..they send books from Library to Library so she said it would be in on Tuesday..still might purchase it before then, remember I said I was going to relax this weekend...

I managed to find somewhere for the cement, told Cathy if she wanted to make a few stepping stones with my left over stained glass to come over the weekend..we'd pour hers and I can make some rhubbarb stones..just as I pulled in I was talking to Cliff and Bernice across the street and he wanted to know why I hadn't been by for the leaves...HELLO...busy/busy..so I will make sure I pick up more cement for the weekend...calling for nice temps and sunshine..a good time to get them done...

And that my dear friends has been my day..just a nice day all around...

Will be back to post and comment on your day...did miss you all....

(Laura) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Betty, I have faith, but it would be nice if something would happen on the upside rather than just trials.

I love the sound of water; rain, streams, rivers, sea, fountains, anything that is moving water.

Liz, my DH has done the on again several times. If you did it once you shouldn’t have too much trouble doing it again once the troubles pass.

Baton Rouge, LA

Hello To All;

Hey Laura - Yes - me too....especially the ocean...I try to imagine it when I need to relax...(like at the dentist last week - but that really didn't work that well LOL)

Betty - What a wonderful relaxing day....almost being a tourist in your own area...or I suppose you were still around your area...

I should have spent some of my time off doing that as well this week....

Got my best interview so far tomorrow....wish me luck!

Back in a bit...

Hugs,
Mary

Much luck and good wishes to you tomorrow, Mary.

Fun stuff you did today, Betty. I love days like that.

Time to call it a night, thought I'd drop in for a few secs....

Mary, do wish you the best of luck with the interview..think prayers might work better than the well wishes soooo will add you to my prayer list tonight...

Laura, we go through periods in our lives that everything seems to go wrong... it's hard I know....let's hope tomorrow is better for you and your family...how blessed you are to have Trisha by your side through these difficult times...was watching a t.v. show and they were advertizing nicoteen (?) gum for those trying to quit smoking, was that what made you so ill?

What a lovely supper I had and didn't even need to cook...Marion, if you are lurking, took photo's of these buttertarts just for you!
