And a close up of the nice dark foliage
Garden Photo's 09 .........25
Whammmo its a beauty
Thanks all... Jen, sorry to have added to your list. lol.
Daisygirl... You're not OC because you are in love with your rose, you're a proud parent of one of the children in your garden. I really like the centerglow ninebark!
Sherrie... very pretty.
Thanks Victor, yep I'll never be a poet. That's for certain. I agree with you on that combo, it's very striking. I'm amazed that your lilies are already blooming! mine are just showinig buds. Of course, I love the dogwoods too.
Marie...Your garden is lovely! I second everyones thoughts about it too! I can't keep up with mine as it is now, so you're doing fantastic.
Karen... great group of pics! I really like the iris with the persicaria. I think that kind of persicaria is so pretty, but I just can't bring myself to plant any relative of Japanese knotweed, which i've worked so hard to remove. I'll just have to admire yours.
Jo Ann... your pics are pretty. You're picking up picasa very well already! Nice job.
Wow Daisy that is one HUGE blossom. Do they have a scent?
Daisy, just beautiful, I'd like to have that combo of yours, have to check my Nursery,
Thanks red, talk about a mother's work is never done, so is a gardener's
This Indigo was given to me from my MIL when I first started gardening, I moved it from our old farm house to this one, also my daughters have it from her, if she were sill alive she would 111 years old and very proud we treasure her plants.
Victor that combo that you like ... what are they? They're wonderful together.
Flowerjen: The Climbing Night Owl has a light fragrance. But that's not it's selling point, lol!
Just a fringe benefit!
The combo is ranunculus Buttered Popcorn (bright green) and Weigela Midnight wine - two nice ground covers. Your ninebark looks a lot like Coppertina. How is it different? Your closeup shows the developing seed head, not the flower. Very pretty, isn't it?
Bill, I forgot to mention... thanks for the Id on that poppy. I'll have to keep an eye out.
My poppies we beat to he.. by the crazy storm last night, complete with gale winds and flash flood warnings. Meconopsis are completely gone, even the umopened buds. The oriental poppy is pretty tattered, but it still has more buds to open. my few iris are pretty ragged too. But, such is nature... The rhodies still look pretty good! Now I'm going out to watch today's thunder storm.
Victor, your QAL looks like wild yarrow.
Sherrie great shots of the poppy and lupine. I've had OPs for years. I think everyone must have them!
So, thunder cell have been passing over this area off and on, for almost a week now. I went outside just as the sun came out between clouds. The blue light of the clouds and the yellow light from the sun was casting an interesting light on things. Normally, I'm not at home when there's a storm during the day to catch some interesting pictures.
All I can say is WOW everyone!!! I don't know where to begin, so I won't. Just know that you all are enablers and my 'list' growing. ^_^
I, too, treasure my mom's plants and do hope to be gardening like you Maria when I am older.
Jan,you will, just eat health wise and keep busy
Victor, I've just taken pix of both Coppertina and the new CenterGlow ... think with the cloud cover, it's clearer. Of course, there are differences in screen resolution and I rarely ever get correct colors w/ my camera.
Here is my beloved Coppertina. See the brownish-goldish aspects to the leaf? It always seems to go well with yellows and oranges/browns.
I can see the difference. I love them both!
Okay - I do see the reddish color on the Centerglow. How does it compare to Summer Wine?? I love it and Coppertina.
Kathy, you are correct. I always call it QAL for some reason. Anyway, I like it!
Nice combo, Shelly!
Everyone's photos are unbelievable! The Night Owl rose, Maria's peony, Shelley's purple rhodo, Victor's combos, Jo Annes collages, Sherrie's poppy, Karen's deep purple iris---all wows! Shelley, my zone is 5, but I'm on an exposed hill---lots of cold wind. Bill, thanks for the heads up on LIR. Here is 'Fourth of July' which opened today---I know, buggy leaves---I finally had to spray.
Robin, beautiful roses, I have one that was my husband grandmothers, it went to her daughter, then to us. Its blooms have not opened yet, will send pictire once they do.
My foxgloves, seem to be only biannual here, right now one is blooming, two are not as yet.
We grow a pink peony-tentively ID as Sarah Bernhardt by someone who knows them, which was at our house in WI. Brought it east with us when house was sold. J-2 and her younger sister both have a piece of it. Middle DD declined as she remembers flowers on the ground. It is grown for sentimental reasons. Left the dark red one to my sorrow as I heard that they were ripped out & foundation conifers (known to our kids as 'burglar bushes') were planted instead. Oh well, got one & they just came into bloom along the front of our house.
Very nice, Robin. That looks very deep for New Dawn.
Victor: Centerglow is huge -- it can grow up to 10' -- that's one difference. And it's darker than summer wine, I believe: http://www.zone3garden.com/gallery3.cfm?recordid=51
