Hey Cindy! Can't afford to go to Texas but Laura and I are still interested in making a trip to Oregon when you are there. We have been talking about a family camping trip and that could be a good time. I think our car will make it that far.

Have a good night everyone!

Morning everyone. Coffee and apple turnovers are on, fresh cantalope too!

LK

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Morning, Thanks for the coffee and apple turn overs yum.

I think that the dogs, Bear and Copper sense that I'm leaving. I have to put them outside in order to get any packing done. They will not let me out of their sight. I've been sleeping in the back bedroom and they've been sleeping right by the bed as close as they can get. I'm going to misss them BIG time especially Bear. Wished i could dognap and get away with it, lol.

I've got to go to Curves this morning I've miss a few sessions. Plus I need to get my membership transfered.

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

Good morning.

LK thank you. You didn't have to do that. I do appreciate it. You gals are the best.
Tina

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Good Morning Gals !!!

Not a lot of time to chat this morn...
I got the stuff yesterday to make my famous homemade ice cream for next weekend... it's best if it sits in the freezer for a while, so I'm making that today... but I forgot to get ice cream salt, so have to run to the store again.

Then I got to pack... Phyllis... I will be staying at the lake house... she said they'd make room for me there.

WE LOVE YOU Tia Tina !!!

Kathy... where are you?

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

Mornin all

Ok BJ just wanted to make sure you knew you had a place if not there with them.

am off to get the stuff I need to get some bread made for the RU tomorrow
check in later

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Oh Linda Kay how nice!! Love cantalope!!! Coffee is good also. TGIF ladies!!! I don't have a clue why but this week has been hectic--wait I do remember now why--duh--septic problems. This CRS stuff is getting worse.

Cindy I know it will be hard leaving those dogs--seems they are really attached to you.

Well yesterday was a very productive day with getting things done around here. Had a carpenter doing some work that wasn't finished when we had the tile installed in the utility room--actually it is more like a long hall---12' wide by about 20 long--guess that is actually a room. Anyways, I had seen this idea in a Handyman book about putting a cabinet in the wall between the studs so that you store could things in such as spray paint cans, etc. Well, I now have one and boy is it nice. He actually did 2 sides for me by cutting between 3 of the studs (middle one for shelves support), the doors aren't finished but I can put 24 cans of spray on all of the shelves!!! I love that magazine--has some of the neatest ideas!!

Well have some more boxes I promised myself I would go through today and clear out. So off to get dressed and tackle that chore...................................

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Tina, it was my pleasure, we just did not need you to disapear on us!
BJ, that ice cream sounds really good.

Marion, now you know you have to give us some pictures of this new storage area, so get those batteries charged please?

Phyllis, I got some of that home made bread last year. It was so good!

LK

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

I am going to take pictures Linda Kay--after I tidy up a bit--sawdust is still needing to be cleaned out. Having my base boards all down and painted has done oodles for my well being. I finally got tired of arguing with the people who installed the tile flooring about finishing the job and decided to just give up and have it done. Plus now I have this neat storage place. Of course, it is only 1 can deep but you can see everything at a glance which really will be nice!!

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Phyllis... I'm so sorry I can't make it to this RU... I know you'll all have a great time. These Orientations are just a necessary evil for these kids... most of them don't know why, or enjoy it... so, we're making it fun for them this year with fishing, swimming and boating along with the meetings. Of course, I wasn't in on the planning of it, since I only found out about it 3 days ago... and from what I hear, it was all thrown together at the last minute. I did have other plans this weekend, but it's mandatory for Mike to be there, so I had to rearrange.

Marion... I love that idea... can't have too much storage spaces. Want to see pictures too.

Now, I'm off to do a few errands... and back to the kitchen.

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Back from Curves. My instuctor says she can see where I have lost alot in my behind. Tuesday will be my weigh in. Here are some funnies. But ya better put on some Depends first, LOL.

Scotch With Two Drops Of Water

Guess we all could use a little laugh lately. A lady goes to the bar on a cruise ship and orders a Scotch with two drops of water. As the bartender gives her the drink she says, 'I'm on this cruise to celebrate my 80th birthday and it's today.' The bartender says, 'Well, since it's your birthday, I'll buy you a drink. In fact, this one is on me.' As the woman finishes her drink, the woman to her right says, 'I would like to buy you a drink, too.' The old woman says, 'Thank you. Bartender, I want a Scotch with two drops of water.' 'Coming up,' says the bartender. As she finishes that drink, the man to her left says, 'I would like to buy you one, too.' The old woman says, 'Thank you. Bartender, I want another Scotch with two drops of water.' 'Coming right up,' the bartender says. As he gives her the drink, he says, 'Ma'am, I am dying of curiosity. Why the Scotch with only two drops of water?' The old woman replies, 'Sonny, when you're my age, you've learned how to hold your liquor. Holding your water, however, is a whole other issue.'

'OLD' IS WHEN... Your sweetie says, 'Let's go upstairs and make love,' and you answer, 'Pick one; I can't do both!
' 'OLD' IS WHEN...> Your friends compliment you on your new alligator shoes and you're barefoot.
'OLD' IS WHEN... A sexy babe catches your fancy And your pacemaker opens the garage door,
'OLD' IS WHEN...> Going bra-less> Pulls all the wrinkles out of your face.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Cindy, thanks for the smiles. Those were so funny!

Well, no matter how I word it, it sounds funny to say, I am glad your loosing your behind. So I will just stop there! ^_^

LK

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

LOL, me too LK ^_^

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Oh... ROTFL... LK, that's such a classic response... you're so funny.

Good for you Cindy... I agree with LK... Ditto... and that's all I have to say too.

Ice Cream is makings are chilling in the fridge... then the fun begins.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Well, if this congestion does not give up, I will call the Dr. on Monday. Just a stupid nagging cough, but makes me tired. I thought it was just the climate change from going to Amarillo, but now I don't know. I have an appointment on Thursday for my annual exam, maybe I will have him check it out then!

BJ, how do you make your ice cream? You have a mixer for it?

LK

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Ice Cream recipe

Scald 2 1/2 cups milk
Add 2 1/2 cups sugar and 1/8 tsp salt - mix to dissolve thoroughly.
Pour into the ice cream maker canister.
Add 3 cups half and half, and 6 cups heavy whipping cream, and 1 1/2 tblsp vanilla.
Cool in fridge for 30 mins to an hour.
Then, follow ice cream maker's instructions to freeze... makes 1 gallon.

I make it several days ahead of time because it gets better after it sits in the freezer a few days.

***NOTE TO JAYE***
I got your Blue Bell No Sugar Added, Fat Free Ice Cream in the freezer already... (don't know how to make sugar free ice cream)

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Oh my!!! Homemade ice cream to boot!! Can't remember the last time I had or made any.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

^_^ ^_^ ^_^ ^_^ ^_^ ^_^ ^_^ ^_^

THANK YOU BJ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats on the bottom-less Cindy!
Old is when the only friend you have that can put up with your crankiness is your shadow :D

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Ladies, this time next week there will be a part of Texas that will never be the same again once we all converge on BJ. Counting days now.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Visualising a Tx Rangers escorting us out when we're through!! Lolol!!

Fostoria, OH(Zone 5a)

Homade ice cream...Goodie, goodie, goodie. Nothing better.

I took the car in to check out before driving to Texas and it needs some work. Not the time for the $ but since the PT Cruiser is a 2001 and this is the first time I've had anything wrong and it is not serious so I can't complain.

Rainy day here and cool. While the temps say 50"s it feel a lot cooler than that. I have sewign to finish and wash; things to get done so I can go play for a week.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Marion... Don's the ice cream lover here, and he thinks mine is the best. I just don't make it very often, because it's actually cheaper to buy it already made... so, now I just make it for special occasions... just one more reason Don is VERY happy you all are coming... LOL

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Darn Vehicles... we have to put the truck in the shop next week too... it's 10 years old, and never had a moment's problem with it... and now, all of a sudden, it's not running right. *sigh*... just one more thing to worry about.
Was hoping it would last long enough to pay off the Tuscon before we replace it.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Well, tell Don we just might can arrange to say we are coming more often, then when the ice cream is make, call and say we can't--then he has his ice cream.

Kim brought home some last night for a treat--I think it is Blue Bell not sure but it is Peaches and Vanilla--OH man--was it ever good and the peaches are incredible. Atleast the ones last night were. Good thing we don't allow ourselves to do that very often--I would be in serious trouble!!

BTW, BJ what is going on in Gainesville that Don has to be there?

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Well, Jaye, if they can bring Walker with them that will be fine if I get escorted out!! LOL

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

ROFL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Maid M.. JD might be jealous!!!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Hey, have to keep all my bases covered now! JD will be in the car--washed and ready to travel.

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Coffee and Cantaloupe...doesn't get much better than that!

Tina you just keep on checkin' in with us we miss you!

That is one of the very best Ice Cream Recipes.....I love it! Be sure you all have some for me, you are in for a real treat!

Great progress Cindy!!! I would be happy if some of middle would just fall to my behind!!

LK get to feeling better....

Waving to all...have to take sis around to take a few pictures, pick up Sage from school then off to Seattle. Sis is staying at a hotel near the airport...wants to get a little sleep before she has t be at the airport (4a.m.).....and she is scared to death of flying!

Guess we will have to send Cedric's friends by for a visit...
