May 2009 in the Garden

Watseka, IL(Zone 5a)

I am fairly sure this is called dichloris lab lab, but not sure of the spelling! It is a vine and gets sweet pea like flowers then gets pods! Actually quite quaint!

Ok, another one I am not sure.. raspberry or blackberry and heck if I know what variety!

This is a sassafrass bud. We love this tree! You crush the leaves in your hands and it is very arromatic!

Then there is this scurge.. it is a nasty invasive honeysuckle that we are working on irradicating from our property.

Great pics, Blossom! That 3rd pic is very interesting. I would like to know what it is also.

Well I got so sleepy last night I could do no more, but I am back now till I run out of pics or get sleepy again, whichever comes first!

Th...th...that's all folks! For now anyway. The is more blooming, but I did not get pics today.

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

yardqueen you have awesome roses. How many plants to you have, must be tons.
blossom hope your hubby is taking it easy and don't you work to hard either, after all we aren't used to it since we have been inside outta the rain. If you post those pics on the DG plant ID thread you will get them identified quickly.
You have a lot of things in bloom, that sasafras looks interesting and so does that "brain matter" lol!

Watseka, IL(Zone 5a)

Hubs doing pretty good. He has to go to the clinic all week, but should be back on the road soon. Gonna miss him

I am still having a pain in my shoulder. I lost my reflex in my left arm for some reason and it keeps dragging amongst the usual aches and pains and old age malfunctions..

Yeah! LOL Hub says that brain thing is pretty disgusting looking. We get a lot of funji here. That one by far i s the most interesting! Will take morepics too as I can.

My daffs are done! The daylilies are about to start...

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

Oh and I bet you have a wealth of daylilies don't ya!
Sorry your shoulder hurts - these are not always the golden years, they are the olden years.

Watseka, IL(Zone 5a)

Oh, daylilies , yeah, there are a few!

Well, we went to the clinic today and things are gettng better. Least I got the reflex back in the arm and the hub is moving better too. But he has a ways to go.

Got a new camera today andits giving me fits. I can get them sent to the PC, it keeps telling me the file is too large.. I guess I best read the directions....

Emory, TX(Zone 8a)

If all else fails! LOL

Christchurch, New Zealand

loved that fungus...
I had a neat one come up in my garden last year, a NZ native Basket Fungus.
I thought it was a plastic toy when I saw it.
The Maori name is interesting, translates to Ghost droppings or star droppings depending on what area you are in...

it is part of the stinkhorn family but mine didn't smell bad.

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

Yuk that reminds me of what a tapeworm might look like, but then again guess it could be a pretzel dipped in white chocolate LOL!

Watseka, IL(Zone 5a)

Funny you should mention droppings.. becasue we get a lot of " funky shrooms" in the horse dung here! Bet if ya eat them you will be seeing lots of funky colors and get a roayl killer belly ache too. So stay away from the shrooms here!

Grrrr. I am utterly and totally disgusted with the new camera. It does not send the large pixels like the other one and got to many features to adjust before you shoot. I also lost my video capacity. grrrr.... so praying in a couple months I have a better upgrade. DANG!!!!

Well, heres some more columbines

Oh BB you will get it figured out in no time. Lookie at those lovely bonnets, you have a fine variety of all your plants, well done.
Well tada! Here is the white tree peony and it wasn't even quite open fully. Isnt she lovely?

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

Here is the pink azalea in bloom long since the white and red and the other pink have finished.

Hey Zany, do you remember a long, long time ago those "fringed" shasta daisies I had. Well they come back every year but they have never been fringed since the first year's blooms?

Thumbnail by haighr
Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

Get your shears out cause it needs the fringy thingy.

Can't resist one more taken on 5-16 while the others were mostly taken on 5-14

Watseka, IL(Zone 5a)

Haighr, those are lovely inspite ofyour own criticisms!! Dont be so hard on yourself.

I am hating this camera. The columbines were taken by my hub on his. He zoomed in and there are no pixels for size so if I want an enlargement I gotta send it to the photo impressions and mess with it. dang it. I am in to click shoot, send to pc, load and post not click umteen times this Samsung sucks.

I thinik the hub took this yellow wildflower on his... We were both trying to shoot it and had bad luck!
