Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

Bridal wreath spiraea, not full yet but won't be long now. Abygail loves to stand under this bush and think it is snowing!

Hello Abygail Grace, Gosh you have grown into a big girl now! Thank you for coming to see your Auntie Terri and Grandma's friends!! Looks like you are having fun sitting in your sand pit with a pretty bluebell.
Lovely lovely flowers Candee, Thanks for the treat!

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

Thank you, Steve made her that sandbox, she loves the sandbox. Used my empty pots for buckets as you can see and planted flowers in the sand.

Precious days! Quite the handy man your Steve isn't he?

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

Yep he is a real catch! Here is the ornamental rhubarb, sprayed and doing good this year, not eaten up yet!

Your ornamental Rhubarb looks very nice and healthy.
I have the eating kind of Rhubarb, already the leaves are chewed up with the slugs!

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

Mine are usually eaten up but I started spraying early this year. Don't think you can eat the ornamental though?

Christchurch, New Zealand

gorgeous flowers!
I love that lavender rose, I saw a darker purpley one - Blackberry Nip & it was wonderfully fragrant but way out of my budget range.
My Mum has some nice roses...
she is going to try growing a cutting of this one for me, it has a nice scent.

nice yellow rose in Mum's garden.

Oh dalfyre that peachy one is just perfection!

Candee, I don't think you can eat the ornamental Rhubarb mate!

Pretty roses your Mum has there dalfyre. Hope it roots for you!
I loved your purple rose earlier in the thread, was that Blackberry Nip? or something else?

Christchurch, New Zealand

my purple rose is a noid...
it looks a lot like a Banksia rose but has thorns...more like prickles than thorns really.
It has no scent but looks amazing in full flower.
It was the only rose on the property when I purchased nearly 9 years ago.
I managed to get a cutting to grow but it took quite a few attempts.
My other roses strike far easier.

not a great pic but this is Blackberry Nip

Sacramento, CA(Zone 9a)

Candee - your garden is growing by leaps and bounds. Beautiful blooms there. I love the bridal wreath spirea - if Abygail can stand underneath it, it must be pretty tall? I don't have much room left in my garden so I have to be choosy about what I put in now.

Dalfyre - your nemesia is another new plant for me. It looks great in the vase. So, my next question for you is - how big is the mature plant? How late in the season does it continue to bloom?

Here is one of the few roses that I have - a cecil brunner that I rooted about 8 years ago. the pic is blurry - will have to do a redo

dalfyre, your roses are amaising in full bloom, I love that one!
Thanks for the link to the other roses, so many lovely ones. I do like the Blackberry Nip,such a beautiful rich colour.
I must look out for it.

Dianne, that cecil is a beauty!!! so many blooms, is it fragrant?
I only buy fragrant roses these days LoL!

The nemesia has been flowering non stop since I bought it early summer...
still covered in flowers - no sign of it slowing down despite some good frosts.
full size the plant is about 20cm, it tends to sprawl a bit, would be great in pots or hanging baskets.

Interesting Dalfyre. I would have never known that it would look so lovely in a vase, despite it's sprawling habit. This would be a great candidate for the yard to vase series. I have brick planters in the backyard and I could plant it on the edge and let it sprawl over and out of the planter. Let me know if it comes back next year. If it is a good perennial, I will definitely add it to my garden. Or does it self-seed too?

Terri - I honestly can't remember if the cecil brunner is fragrant or not. It does have a lot of tiny little thorns. But I did buy my first ever rose (I only have about 4 roses and they were either given to me or I rooted them) on May 1st - Pope John Paul II and it smells really nice and citrusy. I am not too much into the floral smells.

Christchurch, New Zealand

the nemesia grows really well from cuttings & I think I have some self sown ones coming up too.

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

I am just greenish looking at the beautiful roses. I have one that has barely survived for 20 years and it is one of several I planted at the same time. I try to take care of it, but it always gets eaten and then when I do cuttin it gets that bore hole down the stem. I just don't have luck with them so love admiring others.
don't worry Terri, will not be eating this rhubarb!
Dianne, the bridal wreath gets huge and must be trimmed back each season. It is about 6' tall right now and about 8' diameter and would get humongous if I didn't keep at it.

Fragrance comes high on my list of priority in the garden. I buy florists flowers when my garden sleeps, they hardly ever have fragrance, but look good. I want my garden flowers to provide both beauty and fragrance. LoL!

On my way home today, I took a picture of one of my neighbours front garden.
Lovely wallflowers and bluebells on show.

What a wonderful array of color, that is real eyecatching.

It caught my eye anyway!

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

I'll bet it did. Well here is the white tree peony, enjoy it quick, not even completely open and the storms are headed our way dog goneit!

I really like these paperlike poppies, have wanted other colors but never able to get any started from seed.

Candee - what a beautiful garden you have. Your white tree peony looks like the same variety as mine - do you know the name of it? I need to get me a yellow one - I love peonies.
Love all your other flowers too.

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

Thank you Dianne, it is our solice and we love sitting outside enjoying it. Sorry I don't know the variety anymore, sure I had it written down at some point, but that was long ago. The flowers on mine when completely open are about 6-8" in diameter quite a bit larger than the yellow which are about 4-5" when open.
I almost bought a red one years ago, but didn't now wish I had. I noticed the other day at the nursery that they have tree peonies so perhaps I'll check them out. I just wish they bloomed longer. I am lucky to get 10 days out of mine and am concerned as they just opened yesterday and today we are expecting heavy rain and storms and wind and it is to last a few days??? Got fingers crossed.

Your garden looks lovely Candee! The white Peony is just beautiful, it shouts hey look at me while I'm here... LoL!
The most frustrating thing about gardening is? ... The Weather!!! Hope all your lovelies stand up to the wind and storms and keep going a bit longer. Love your close up pictures of the flowers, so crisp and pretty!
Is that your new arch? in the beautiful picture with the Peony setting. Nice job Steve!

Nope that is the old arbor. Steve's been busy with other things since we haven't had much time outside due to the weather. Am sure we will get to it soon though.
Thanks for the compliments, I know that tree peony just puts a smile on my face.

Oh , it looked new to me... LoL!

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

Only because you haven't seen it in a while! Kinda like me seeing that narrower path in the lottie LOL!

Watseka, IL(Zone 5a)

Oh my all the lovelies I have missed these past few days!

Well, my new blue hydrangea is still in her pot. Been not able to do any gardening or picture taking this week so I am behind in reading here and posting!

I have decided I want a bridalswreath now. Am going to have to find a source for some pinches!!
