Ooch!! LOL, Blossom your snowballs are absolutely gorgeous.
I couldn't possibly throw them back.... tee hee. Thank you!

Christchurch, New Zealand

love those aquilegia!
I have shades of blue ion my garden... seed from my Mum's place.
Our rental has a pretty pale yellow & white I brought home seed but not sure if it will take.
I have quite a few appearing in the garden where I sprinkled seed of different origins so it is a mystery mix.
I will be cross if I just get the same as I already have...
in amongst the aquilegia are poppies, I grabbed a couple of seed heads off the Iceland poppy at work & saved seed form my Flanders poppy so another mystery mix.
I have had to weed out almost all the opium poppy seedlings - great plants but attracted the wrong kind of wild life.
My neighbour saw a car pull up outside my house, passenger ran into the yard while the driver kept the engine running.
A quick raid on my poppies ensued & it was all over before the neighbour puzzled out what was going on.

Sacramento, CA(Zone 9a)

Interesting story on the opium poppy LoL. I am not sure I would recognize one if I saw a seedling.

I am always on the lookout for seeds where ever I go, but my problem is that I stash them away until the proper sowing time, and when sowing time comes, I have totally forgotten about them. I have seeds from years past - one of these days I'll plant them all and see what comes up.

Watseka, IL(Zone 5a)

I have trouble growing poppies. I sowed some on November.. have not seen a one. I have more seed... I may try them in a pot.

Last night the snowball bush literally glowed inthe dark. I was gonna take a pic, but was to lazy.

Tonite I am hitting the hay early.. I seem to have a summer cold.

AAAAa-shoe! running eyes, nose stuffy.. down right frustrating with all the purdy aromas! At first I thought it was an allergy, but its not behaving like one anymore. Its a cold. Drat and i just got over one.

I have some more different colored columbines.

The lily of the valley are almost opening up too.

I aquired some hostas today and a few other plants. I am excited on the one its a coleus called KONG. The leaves are huge, multi colored and almost bigger than my hand! Cant wait to get that up and growing and got 3 gomphrenas (purple, white and the pink, but no strawberrie fields..darnit) and a half a dozen pansys. WIll take pics tomorrow if I got time and am up to it.

Need to catch my zzzzz's..

Well catch you all later.

Sheesh. some people will rob anything! Fancy keeping the engine running for a smash and grab on the poppies!!!
I love to scatter seeds around too dalfyre and get little surprises coming up in the garden.

Dianne, hope you find some sunflower seeds LoL!

Sorry you are not feeling well Blossom, hope you get a good nights sleep! Think I'm catching your cold, feel a bit snotty, it's probably the change in the weahter.... hope it's Not ..... pig flu!!
Love coleus, not very good for arrangements, but beautiful plants all the same. Looking forward to seeing those!

I let this seedling grow - it managed to find it's way into a pot with something else & I thought it might not be noticed from the street...

Is that the opium poppy you were referring to? It is a gorgeous bloom!!!
I don't know a lot about poppies (except, of course, the California poppy), but is the opium poppy named such because it is the plant that opium is actually obtained from, or does the flowers just resemble the real opium plant?

Christchurch, New Zealand

yep this is the poppy that opium comes from...
But I don't think the cultivar in my garden is what they grow in the Middle East
it comes in a few different types & colours :)
Another name for it is peony poppy which is quite apt & a little more 'pc'.

I also have Flanders poppy aka Soldier poppy...
hoping some of the seed I sprinkled around will come up.

Lovely poppies dalfyre! Is that lavendar next to the poppies in the last picture?
Great for arrangements!

Watseka, IL(Zone 5a)

Here is sign for the poppies!! LOL!

I have Dalmatians - nobody would take a 'Trespassers will be eaten' sign seriously.
And that is a French Lavender next to my poppies, a very old & odd looking one that is so lovely in flower I don't have the heart to pull it out.

Watseka, IL(Zone 5a)

LOL! Seems to be the way it is, you say NO, they say yes.. Pain in the bottoms for sure. Almost have to back it up with some concentina wire! Either that or an electric fence and zap them!

I love lavender. Cant grow it here. Too wet for it I guess.

Got a couple annuals in Friday. Will post them at my GPS thread.

Only plant for today is this wildflower we found last night. I have no clue as to what it is but there was a lovely colony of it growing. Almost reminds me of solomons leaves but the flower, I am not sure.

I am truly baffled, what is this blue lovely??

Christchurch, New Zealand

that is one of my perennial nemesias.
Nemesia Aromatic Royal is what's on the label.
this is how the white looks in a vase...
They have a pleasant scent, I can't describe it but it's almost like vanilla.

My goodness you all are truly in bloom. That sunshine musta worked wonders blossom and dalfyre you have some stunning blossoms.
I have never seen red columbine, what a lovely blossom.
dalfyre those are quite the display of roses, never have much luck with them and always admire those who can get them to produce so abundantly. Great job.
blossom I had a neighbor long ago that had a snowball bush and they are really pretty, bet it does glow in the dark. Surprised you aren't throwin them around in the sunshine after all the real snow you had to contend with.
I noticed the other day that my white lavender bush is doing well but the old faithful lavender colored lavender is barely surviving and I am always careful not to cut it back too far, not sure what the trouble is. Perhaps I just need to be patient as I am just now getting my rhods to bloom when others have long finished. Still waiting on that tree peony as well, the yellow one is coming out first which is a first? Odd year.

Watseka, IL(Zone 5a)

Well, terri got smacked with a few of my snowballs for her birthday.. have you been to the party, its still going on!

I wil try to take a night shot of that snowwball bush.. it is pretty cool looking at night on a brite night!

I have been wanting to get a skyblue hydrangea. Almost did last weekend.. darned things were expensive. I keep saying though, where the heck am I gonna put it.

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

I have a hydrangea, I have had it for 7 years and it pops up outta the ground every single year and has never bloomed. Guess I should hit it with a few snowballs to traumatize it. I transplanted it last year and it is coming up, we shall see. I have no idea what kind it is as it has been so long. I say go ahead and get one, we always find a spot!

london England, United Kingdom

Lovely blue Nemesia dalfyre, funny I picked up a tray of those at the garden centre, then for some reason I put them back LOL! The white one is also a beauty in your vase, Thank you!

Lovely old ladies bonnets Blossom! Loooking forward to the glow in the dark snowballs!!!

Hydranga doesn't grow in my soil, they don't last long in pots for me either, will just have to admire yours my friends!!
